Metal Gear Solid for the original PlayStation was a massive hit in Spain. Not only the game had tons of dialogue, but was perfectly voiced in Castilian Spanish. Very few games would receive that treatment.

That said I'd be curious to see if the Spanish version is better than the English translation, that would require me to play the game twice tho and I haven't even bought it yet.
I played it both in English and Spanish circa 2003. Now, first of all I have to say I'm not exactly unbiased (I'm from Spain, so you can imagine), but even then, I have to say I preferred the Spanish dub to the English dub. Not that I thought the English version was bad by any means, but even when compared to the English dub of MGS2, I thought the English dub of MGS1 felt like some of the actors were a bit lacking in experience (something that obviously improved as the series went on. That's such a wonderful way to respond to somebody asking you why you broke something. 'Why did you break that plate?' 'You know how this world works. It's kill or be killed. ... And I wasn't about to be killed by some dirty plate.'
It sucks 😣 to hear how the game falls short, it sounds like it has *tons* of good stuff! ...Maybe a patch could come out to appeal to some of the basic critiques...? 😅
I don't think this game is particularly un-approachable. If you've ever enjoyed a Sierra-style point and click adventure, then you'll get what this game is going for and overlook the trial and error game over states. The only difference is that you're moving with a controller and there's a light stealth element. The only puzzle I don't like is the room with all the dogs. But I also have to agree with the use of profanity. It very rarely has the comedic effect that I felt the joke was going for. And I also immediately pegged it as a translation issue when I found out the game wasn't written in English. Still, the game got me several times. I thought most jokes were a hit rather than a miss.
Looking back at classic spoofs like Airplane!, Hot Shots, Naked Gun, and most Mel Brooks movies, profanity was rarely used. Even in Blazing Saddles, outside the obvious. I grew up on those movies and I find profanity and yelling to be a very lazy attempt at comedy. Swearing loudly doesn't make shit any funnier, it just shows that you aren't funny.

This is the same developer who also made the parody game UnEpic.
Ah, unepic_fran. Unquestionably talented game designer who desperately needs a competent editor/writer on his team.
Soft spot for 'im and I do love the original Metal Gears, but seeing the cutscenes in the UnMetal trailer I thought "don't think I have the patience for this".
2:30 Is that a flub, or a joke I didn't get?
2:28 whoops, did a Bethesda there
He's back!
That's such a wonderful way to respond to somebody asking you why you broke something.
'Why did you break that plate?'
'You know how this world works. It's kill or be killed. ... And I wasn't about to be killed by some dirty plate.'
Thanks for the vid. Always great.
It sucks 😣 to hear how the game falls short, it sounds like it has *tons* of good stuff!
...Maybe a patch could come out to appeal to some of the basic critiques...? 😅
been a long time enjoyer of your video essays SBH, I'm disapointed it didn't inspre that rabid fanboy passion I know you have
Matt Hazard... wasn't there a REALLY weird shooter named Matt Hazard complete with an anime parody level?
an eat lead: the return of matt hazard reference!
Definitely not a game only made for mgs fans, i had not played 1 before playing the demo and i loved it.
This game is like if Rockstar let Kojima make a arcade game inside gta6
I love Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake, I played it for the first Time 2 Years ago and I felt in love with it. Unmetal looks really nice.
Jesse we need to cook.
Thanks for this review
lol i forgot unEpic existed in the first place, and that people know it still.
Damn. Kept us waiting, huh?
I think around 2:30 there's an editing error.
I was wondering when you would review this.
11:00 oh man, thats a SAVAGE diss lmao
Un metal gear?
It can't be
!
"So how are the jokes?" "T H I C C"
10:06 These guys should play Watch Dogs: Legion to see how to do a less punishing stealth game properly.
this really made my snake solid.
2:28 was this supposed to be a cut
