I like the 4.8, it can take a lot. Get the 4L80 all built and put it in, get the other injectors that you mentioned and see what she does. Just my 2 cents. I really like this with the supercharger, it sounds awesome!! :)
Unfortunately I’m struggling to find baby formula for my boys, no LSA in the near future for me, but I really appreciate you sharing such great content!!
Honestly, the fact that it’s a small displacement engine makes it more entertaining. I’d get the typical heads and cam package and watch it surpass that 600 awhp marker. I’d be that truck has a 10 second pass in it with that along with a proper suspension setup and tires.
Damn, those LS motors are terrific. Lots of power, simple design, easily modded, sturdy, etc, etc...... Personally, I think it's cool that you did a 4.8L and showed its potential. Great vid, thanks.... now get back onto a TV show!
The only thing to change would be the ownership of it! ! I love the build the truck and the direction you are going! Gm would sell a ton of these style trucks. Can’t wait to see what you do next. Again job very well done!
The last Gen silverado had a proposed Cheyenne, that would have been a mini truck performance solution. I was sad that GM keeps making these concepts, but never puts them to market.
LT I wouldn’t change a thing with that truck but if I had to change something it would be drop in a 6.0 l with that lsa set up You have built an awesome street truck it’s very cool
I would seriously recommend upgrading the intercooler pump and line size (not sure if you can get larger ports for the LSA). What boost district provided is woefully under powered and you will be fighting IATs all the time on the current setup. I would also recommend bypassing the expansion tank as it hurts the flow. A Davies Craig EWP150 pump and 1" lines are good for around 14gpm of water speed.
Suggestions for projects: weight reduction, change front springs to coil-over conversation kit for 50lbs savings, carbon hood, replace rear bumper with a roll pan
The fit and finish of the Copo Truck is top notch. Your craftsmanship shows in the level of detail in the factory style installation. For changes, I would run the gas tank empty and fill it all the way with E85 and tweak it a little more with the injectors and tune and just enjoy your creation. After that I'd go with a 6.0
Same gasoline station in Orem that I go to get my e85. It’s a hidden gem! Super badass build though I want to build a LS now after I get done with my coyote!
Hey Lawrence.. I have a quick question.. I have a 6.0 lq9 stock. I’m going with a lsa set up and I was wondering if you or anyone reading this can help out and tell me what would be a good set up to with that lsa.. as in which heads (243 ls3) what cam What size TB.. I have a 4l80e that will be behind this 6.0..
I think Pat referred to it as "understroke"?. Put a 6.0 crank w/ stock bore. Stronger rods, Pistons, cam, springs and rockers with ARP everything. I'm pretty sure a stock block 4.8 can handle 1200 hp. Take the precautions and run an upgraded block @1200hp and leave potentially 1600hp on the table for a later date. Your truck could see a 3.2 0-60 or better. IMO? Find a project car for that 4.8. Like a mid 90's Caprice/Impala Clone. Make it AWD. Put some work into the ugly trucks 8.1 and put it in the COPO truck w/ an Allison 5 or 6 speed. That 0.71/0.61 OD will give those 4:30's a much higher top speed. Kilduff makes an Allison based center console shifter so your tow/haul button can be used for line lock instead. P.S. I need a job that I'm more passionate with. Got a helluva lot of out of the box Ideas that would make for unique builds and content. Just to broke to bring anything into fruition.
Last week we were at 3.89 now we’re at 4.09. For flex fuel mind you, not specifically e85. 51% minimum up to 83% mixture is our flex fuel here in Chattanooga, TN
Awesome numbers!!! I just bored a 5.3 to 5.7 and I’m using a stock set of LS1 pistons and rods with a stock 5.3 crank. Gunna home port my 862 heads. Pretty budget way of building a 5.7. You should try that!
Ha! Been there before! Throat dries up instantly, your heart rate sky rockets, palms get sweaty, and you can't even talk anymore after seeing the cop markings!! Guessing the cop slowed down and turned around after you for a bit? You get pulled over, LT? Nice truck, brother!
LT you should have got an Escalade leather wrapped shifter. I have one sitting on my bench waiting to get installed with my 03-07 steering wheel. Also that snap from the COPO truck to the Ugly truck was sweet. Fantastic edit LT
Truck turned out awesome. Saw the last video. Thing hauls the mail and good to see the AWD stayed together. Thanks for the tip on the tow haul button, my 02 Tahoe suffers from the broken orange wire. Gonna get 1 ordered. Keep up the great work!
That’s a nice street sleeper!!! I would say that engine will last a very long time if you can keep it off redline. Keep pumping boost into it until it detonates! Maybe even try a turbo feeding a blower set up!
Even at 135 mph surprised the driveshaft didn’t let go. Mine let go at 140. (I didn’t know the tuner was going to do a 3rd gear pull, what I get for assuming) bad ass build. I love my RCSB!!!
plus, think about the driveshaft speed I'm running here. 135 mph on a 3.42 gear ratio will spin the driveshaft much slower than 135 MPH with my 4.30 gears
I would start with a larger intercooler reservoir. More volume would make it take longer to heat up those iat’s. Then port the blower. You’ll gain boost just from the inlet porting.
I have a 2011 CTSV and the coolant hoses for the blower are in the front and I would bet that almost all the gens of the V have them in the same place.

Keep the 4.8 and I agree, see how much more you can push it. It already smokes the doors off a 5.3. I guess a lot of us trades guys had a GM van with a 4.8 and it was indestructible as a work truck.
Ethanol content to knock resistance really has diminishing returns after 60ish % E anyway. You can probably have all your spark in by then or at least a significant amount more. The IATs climbing quick probably pulled a decent amount. But good numbers either way through an awd auto on a truck wheel/tire with a 4.8. I was a little surprised it nosed over as early as it did with the cam on the smaller displacement, maybe a restriction somewhere up top?
I agree on the ethanol percentage thing, but the bad part about using the stock ECU is you can't control the rate at which it goes to the ethanol spark table, its just a linear percentage between 0 and 85 percent ethanol. If I had a Holley ECU for example, I could tell it to put all my advance in by 55% ethanol, and keep that same amount from 56% to 100% ethanol. With the stock computer, if I had it run a total of 22 degrees at 55% ethanol, it would keep adding spark as the ethanol percent goes up. Also, I feel like if it had full timing until the end of the run (about 8 degrees more) it would have pulled much harder up top
I have the same truck with 5.3L. mines 2wd.. Really would have liked to clone your build < the Tennessee Orange , Georgia Bulldog , but truck is pewter w/Graphite.. Again factory appearing build. my question would be what does adding aftermarket cooler bring to the table? Looks like it added weight to the worst possible spot. do you have any data showing gains?? Love your show,
I love the truck, but u asked what we would change... so, 6.0 with the 4l80, roll pan, cowl hood, and I'd use the factory 22's they have on the new suburban... they r a gun metal color... and I think a leather kit with some orange stitching and a logo ... something about your copo idea... no matter what else u do or don't do this turned out sick... great job
You've done both, a turbo and a blower on this channel. For an 03 2500HD 6.0, would you do a turbo kit, or blower (tvs2650 from boost district is what I'm thinking) for an all around truck that does tow often and heavy

LT have u done any upgrades to the brakes on the copc truck? Would like to see some brake upgrades if you haven't done any yet make us a video of what you do as I've mentioned before I have the same truck and it is a beat to stop quick. I am planning to swap in the brakes off of a newer model Silverado such as a 2016 but I have heard you can use the 6 piston calipers and rotors off of a 21 so why dont you do that and post it so I'll know what needs to be done before I tear mine apart 👍🙂
Got a question yall. 4l60e not shifting into 2nd and 3rd gear . No metal in pan , new fluid changed all shift solenoids . Any ideas? Just climbs RPM won't shift .

I'll need to file ring gap, and maybe thicken the headgasket altho the 5.3 are lowest of compression LS if I'm correct?.
Didn't disappoint
LT have u done any upgrades to the brakes on the copc truck? Would like to see some brake upgrades if you haven't done any yet make us a video of what you do as I've mentioned before I have the same truck and it is a beat to stop quick. I am planning to swap in the brakes off of a newer model Silverado such as a 2016 but I have heard you can use the 6 piston calipers and rotors off of a 21 so why dont you do that and post it so I'll know what needs to be done before I tear mine apart 👍🙂
I haven't yet, but I do want to do the 2020+ big brakes on it
Got a question yall. 4l60e not shifting into 2nd and 3rd gear . No metal in pan , new fluid changed all shift solenoids . Any ideas? Just climbs RPM won't shift .
Hmm. I wonder how a 6l80 with paddle shifters would be?
Awesome build and thanks for the great content. You should check out the Blue Cat transmission tool, it will be a night and day upgrade.
This makes me want to do a SC on my Tahoe I use to tow my drift cars with. Of course I'll need an upgraded 4L60E I'm sure haha
Man that is such a sweet looking truck, runs amazing LT 👍🇺🇸💪
New sub here love the channel! Just did heads on my 5.3, bad guides on one side so did them both with upgraded springs for future. Gonna go back and binge watch other videos. 👍
Thanks for the sub and I hope you enjoy the content!
hey lawrence. im back. I talked with richard yesterday and told me you should throw on a turbo instead. your gonna need a turbo cam to do so. he said a 76mm turbo and a single to be specific should do the job. I hope this helps ya
Awesome video!!!
What is your opinion on the gt500 blower conversions on the LS. is it a good cheep budget option?
LT has the kind of channel I can confidently hit like BEFORE I watch it..lol ../AS always great job! Never considered the E85 benefits til you pointed it out. Thanks! Super interested in what the truck weighs. Would be legit info to work around.
Greetings from the farm in S.C.!
much appreciated!
That is a great 0-60 number. You are at 4200', too, so if you were to convert that down, you're in the 3's for sure.
