Unity Spotlight Installation on a Square body Chevy truck

- Walking through the steps to install Unity post mount spotlights on moms 1978 Chevy truck. The correct bracket for the squarebody Chevy is #27 & 27R for left and right lights. The correct shaft length is an exposed 9” or model “GM”.
The lights I installed for this truck are the 5” metal housings, or model 250GM. The 6” metal housing would be model 225GM. The later model 6” plastic housing is model 325GM.
I sourced a set of NOS metal head housing lights on eBay for this build. They have the later model shaft and gear head and handles but the correct early metal heads. I made some adjustments to the main tube on both lights to increase the rotational range by cutting out a portion or the stop. The lights are grounded through the bracket and only require a fused 12v power source.

Very nice spot lights.. My mother had a 57 Mercury that had twin spot lights installed from the factory.. loved playing with them as a kid...
I’ve always liked the look and functionality of them on older vehicles, it’s a cool chrome accessory that you used to see on cars and trucks from when I grew up and before… many years ago dad helped me put the same set of spotlights on an 85 F150 I had. Naturally I wanted to fancy up mom’s truck with a set.
You should see the ones on our new patrol cars. they are mounted to the fender, no holes in the A pillar. it's controlled by a Joystick on the console. When you turn it off. it parks protecting the LED light.
The Whelen Arges… the flashing sweep function is neat
I've got a DOD K5 Blazer that I really want to put one of these on but the idea of drilling holes in it is nightmare fuel. I love the look but I couldn't bring myself to put holes in a solid, rust-free body.
awesome. Lites
I want to do this to my 73 gmc Sierra
