    We slide the light shaft out a little on all of our police vehicles to clear the steering wheel. About 2 inches or so. Doesn’t mess anything up.

    As far as the shaft being too long, you can slide the bushing on the shaft (on the outside of the door in the bracket) out and in as far as you need to clear a dash and or wheel.
    If it's a permanently attached bushing (doubt it) you can call Unity and they'll ship one out free and you have a new bushing that you put on the shaft and into the bracket and install like usual

    Hello, I was just wondering if you can help me. I got my spotlight installed and it was working and everything but I forgot to put the rubber thing it comes with. And I put handle back on but now it doesn't turn on at all. I think something in the handle popped. I seen smoke come from and then it would only work if I turned a certain way or played with the wire and now it doesn't turn on at all. what do I do? do I need to fix the wire? or buy a whole new handle?

    • @mossman381
      @mossman381  8 років тому +1

      When you take the handle off or work on the light it's best to unplug it from power. This has happened to me a few times. You need to make sure the handle is seated all the way on the shaft or you will have the problems you mentioned. There is a slot that needs to go in the handle a certain way and they have to line up to fully seat. This is sometimes difficult to do. If you are certain that it's fully seated then you might have burned up the switch in the handle. You can pull it apart and look at the switch. It's a little difficult to get the handle all back together once it's all pulled apart but just take your time and cut the power to the light when you do this.

      +Carlos Martinez I have never had an LED spotlight but it sounds like you blew a fuse. When you connect to the fuse block there are sometimes fuses that are connected to those prongs. You need to figure out which fuse you blew and why. You might have something wired up wrong or something is wrong with the light switch.

    How do you connect the spotlight wire to a fuse box?

    • @mossman381
      @mossman381  8 років тому

      Hard to explain in a comment. I go to the fuse box under the dash and find a constant hot prong that isn't being used. You can go to a switched one if you want. I like to shut my truck off occasionally when using my light. Probably a good idea to fuse the wire. Even though those prongs are fused already I think. They have small connectors you can buy that should plug right into them.

      Cause I bought a spotlight for my 2004 Nissan Altima. And the wire the spotlight comes with is a black wire with a little metal thing on it. I don't know much about cars but I'm learning. I just don't want to have to pay money to have someone do it for me. And I've been watching your videos on spotlights to learn how to do it. I just don't know how hook the wire up. Can you help.?

    • @mossman381
      @mossman381  8 років тому

      The thing on the end of the wire is used to unplug the light if you ever want to take off the handle. Your local auto parts store should have a connector that will plug onto it. Then you just need to find a power source. The light is grounded to the vehicle by the mount.

    It's not supposed to come with the door when you open the door🤣 you need to cut a half circle in the door and install the light to the A pillar. So the light stays in place and the door opens and closes around the light.
