Vigilante 8 vs Twisted Metal has been my dream game for over twenty years.
Love this channel, the constant content and interesting interviews, bringing back our childhood days and showing how many of us are starving for new twisted metal entries, I do really hope the tv show does well if that means we get a new game.
Edit: will you do Vigilante 8 as well? I also love those games, would love to see some gameplay, tier lists, etc.

Hearing him talk about learning game design from D&D and Munchkin means a lot to me, as a one-man-team table top card game developer, it's good to know that there is a relation to game mechanics and balance both in video games and table top games, that really applies to both.

First game I have ever owned was Vigilante 8. I think I have around here somewhere.

Excellent video. It was really nice to hear some back story from a dev on one of my favorite TM games of all time. Looking at some of your comments below I think it'd be amazing if you were able to interview Scott Campbell. I believe he was also somewhat involved in Small Brawl and I know he pretty much took the helm of making Head On, another fantastic entry. It'd be cool if you could interview Mike Giam too. He's also been involved in almost every TM entry. Also, don't know if you are aware, a new TM is reportedly in development for the PS5. It's being made by Firesprite Studios, a Liverpool based company. Hoping it turns out good. TM needs a solid return. I'd love to see Small Brawl remastered with all the cut content originally intended one. With all these remasters like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, here's hoping. It'd be great to see a part two with Dave on an in depth discussion about V8 and V8 2nd Offense. Keep these awesome videos coming.
Y'Know I'm surprised there's a lack of games with rc car combat (unless I'm not looking hard enough). There's so much potential with the kind of rc cars, weapons and giant environments that can be in such a game.

Well that was a great interview to listen to, plus just picking at an individuals brain. although i just remember in my younger years, thinking that Warthog was Pit Viper due to the Snake pattern on the hood.

Damn! Vigilante 8 always gave me Interstate 76 vibes. I love that game, it should get a remake or properly ported to modern systems.

I grew up with twisted metal 1-black. I would always find myself going back to small brawl even when i had black (mostly because black was too hard and i was too young 😅)
As someone who's been doing a full playthrough of Small Brawl, and personally prefers Vigilante 8 over Twisted Metal, this is an absolute treat!
Would you ever consider having guests on your show other than people that are game developers and stuff perhaps someone to help create ideas and content. I have played every single car combat game that exists and have almost every one sitting on my shelf and I absolutely am obsessed with the genre and I think I could offer some interesting insights and thoughts about these various games. For example I think it would be really cool to highlight some lesser known ones like Critical Depth and Dead in the Water. Even if you don't want to collab with anyone I would really love you to cover those games at some point.
Or Motor Mayhem.

Vigilante 8 >>>> twisted metal especially the engine, endlessly rented Vigilante 8 till I got the game for birthday or Xmas... me n my friends loved n rinsed the game back in the day
Titanfall 2 multiplayer is around still using an addon called Northstar i believe.
Whoa, whoa, whoa! You can't just drop a bomb like Vigilante 8 helped create The Gorillaz and not elaborate on that my god! I need the information behind this these are two of my favorite things! I googled it and could not find a lick of info. I am now dying to know how Vigilante 8 helped spawn one of the most creative bands ever.

I loved playing small brawl back in the day
Small Brawl is my second favorite Twisted Metal. Losing only to Head-On. I had played all PS1 games a LOT when I got Small Brawl, and I really loved it.
The level design is trully amazing! The specials are fun, althou a little repetitive. And the gameplay is solid hehe
It's a pitty not all cars got an ending, and that there's only 1 female driver and Minion was replaced for Trapper.
PS: How can you say the show isn't catering to the Twisted Metal fans. Yes, it has a broader apeal, but it has characters, cars, weapons and easter eggs from pratically all the games. And the show tone is a mix between all the games too.

I'm playthrough Small Brawl right now. I really don't get the hate for this game. It's become one of my favorite TM games. It's my top 3 now.

What a damn story.
Started with Small Brawl (PS demo disc's are great). I enjoyed it at age 10 easily. Hollywood Video showed me it was a franchise with 3&4. Basically I started with the "worst" and now enjoy the best

Is Goodrich under a non-compete agreement? Surely he could work towards making a car combat game of his own?
First time playing small brawl, I didn't really like it
Second time played, it grew more and more on me. Maybe it was the lag from the emulator I was using the first time, but every time after it felt alot faster.
Homing missiles were a problem I had(how they didn't home too well) and how mime and piecemeal just stole specials. Its acceptable for mime but the last boss in the game should've had a unique special. Even if its multiple specials in one.
Otherwise, loved small brawl
I wish Slick Clyde was in Vigilante 8 arcade if there ever was a new game don't cut this character
