The thing about Moscow is that there ARE weapon pickups (and a hidden code), but they're hidden INSIDE of the ramps, so you need to have a remote bomb and pop it in the center console (button?) of the map to blow up all 4 ramps at once. There is no indication for this and there are no remote pickups on the map itself until the purple beam spawns one and you have to race for it if it appears.
@GalaktionAmfiloheev I miss when hints like that were insanely off the wall. "You need to know Russian", "Look at the back of the CD case", "Put your controller in Port 2"
So, I got 5 levels that I dread everytime I play Twisted Metal. (Not including Head-on or Small Brawl because I never owned them. Twisted Metal 2012's levels, with the exception of Sunsprings are very forgettable for me) 5. Moscow: I love the soundtrack, I have it on my TM playlist. But the level design is "eh" at best and I died multiple times by Slamm (as I mentioned in the past he's my brother's goto) 4. Egypt: One level I would rather avoid if I can help it. Anytime I have the opportunity I can use the eye I'll take it. It's a very annoying level for me and I die anytime I place the Eye down and Auger just spams his special like a mad man. 3. Prison Passage: Probably one of, if not the hardest level in Twisted Metal. I only died once as Sweettooth because I went up against both Roadkill and Manslaughter. It was Grimm who finished me off. But since I had Manslaughter at low health he was easy for me to finish. I like the level, but it's a pain. 2. Holland: Probably the hardest level in TM2. Maybe because you got against 9 enemies or maybe because the freaking health is in the windmill and if it's destroyed you can never get it. That health would be gone forever. (Thank you Shadow and Sweettooth) 1. Drive in movie: Yeah, definitely not a fan of this level. I dare say it's more a pain than Prison Passage. I'll take Snowy Roads over Drive In Movie anyday. The only saving grace is the movie screen that shows your gameplay. Other than that it's my least favorite level.
I never knew about that breakable wall in Egypt in TM3 @ 21:30. That can actually be helpful to get away from opponents and get to the lightning pick up quickly.
I like most of the flat levels with nothing on them it's fun leading your shots and stuff with fire missiles hitting really cool power missile shot other than that I'm really glad you agreed with my worst one Egypt has always been my least-favorite
The Square Levels are Chaotic Survival Skill Death Matches. You just gotta be Good to survive them as you can't run away from enemy and Hide. You have to keep moving. I think they are Great!
You know I wonder how some of these levels lists would go if people judged levels based instead on how they feel in multiplayer. Playing with other human players means everyone may treat the level gimmicks differently than the AI does, and it can make trying to win a very different experience. For example, playing the rooftops or New York levels in TM 1 and 2 is very different in multiplayer for me since a human opponent knows to try and get you to fall off the edge.
The rooftops in TM2 in multi-player are butchered versions of original maps, such as New York. The blue trimed building is boarded up and you can't go inside, some rooftop areas aren't there I believe the one that's like a parking garage is missing and one other is missing. So they really don't feel the same. But I do agree people play the maps differently, such as Road Rage TM4 for me. I know it gets a little hate, but I love it. The exploding barrels with proximity mines make great for boobytraps.
Maps like Holland and Drive In are cut from the same cloth as Baby Park in Mario Kart or Nuke Town in COD. They're just mosh pits. They're easy for bad players to make some luck in, and they're easy for incredibly skilled players to lock down completely. So bottom and top tier players may love them, but anyone in the middle tends to hate them. Or, at least, that's my generalization.
TMB Drive-in map, is my favorite of that game. The reason is that it's the most challenging one, you can't just cheese it. It's a level you really have to just keep moving on. I almost would say it's my favorite in all the Twisted Metal games if it weren't for Rooftop (TM1) and New York Big Leap, but definitely a close 3rd of my favorites. Speaking of rooftop maps, I am 100% with you on the Tokyo Rooftops as well as all other skyrise or other maps with what should be insta-death. Only one I would give a pass to is Deathport due to being apart of TML. They shouldn't have removed it, basically just gave people training wheels and hold their hands as they played those levels.
I am glad that TM3 Egypt is number one for the worst level in Twisted Metal games, that level infuriated me during my childhood years, also Twisted Metal 1 also have a theatre screen projection that lets you see the vehicles and it's on the Arena duel level.
Great list, I agree with most! The only one I disagree with/wanna defend is Freeway Free-For-All. Sure it may be plain and there's not a lot to it, but I've always had a lot of fun with it when playing TM1 and think it's an A-rank level **within that game**. It never really leaves you without weapon pick-ups or health (with 4 recharge stations plus the secret full-health) for too long, and the way the AI acts in TM1 makes it both relatively easy and incredibly fun getting kills on it. Your enemies just kinda blindly drive toward you most of the time, and with how contained you are within the bounds of the freeway, if you're playing as a heavy-ramming vehicle it's easy to just plow into enemies and get satisfying kills in seconds since they have little room to maneuver around and run away from you, and on the flipside if you're playing a smaller/weaker vehicle and have the big enemies chasing you, I love how you have plenty of space to just flip around, drive in reverse with plenty of room to keep going in a straight line, and unload your arsenal on your opponents for major damage and kills that way. When I play TM1, it's always fun for me and the level I look forward to most just behind Cyburbia. As a bonus note, it's interesting hearing the rumor that TM1 was originally supposed to be one large battleground with each level connected, and the freeway originally was just a way to connect levels together until SingleTrac realized that wouldn't be possible with the PS1 and had to divide the levels up - keeping the Freeway along with the others as its own level.
I didn't know there was a secret full health in Freeway. But while there are a ton of weapons on that level, a lot of them are the useless ones like the Spikes, secondary mines and oil slicks, none of which do damage to enemies. It's a fun level and I love the look of it though.
TMB is my favorite in the series with Suburbs being my favorite level before downtown. I love the soundtrack, and yes the drive inn is my least favorite stage.
There's only one map for me, that I really don't have much to say about other than what was already said here, but when I'm in said map I just want it to be over ASAP, I truly dislike being there for some reason, it's painfully boring, and that is Moscow in TM2 as well.
so DC gets dinged for being a small level with fewer opponents as the second level of the game meanwhile, moscow gets dinged for being a small leveler with MORE opponents as the second level of the game i mostly agreed with what you said about the levels in this video, but this one inconsistency didn't make sense to me
@@itsame9647 I explained it pretty well as to why DC is technically a better level. Having that many enemies on Moscow WITH BASICALLY NO WEAPON OR HEALTH PICKUPS make it a nightmare. DC is just as boring and small of a map and it does lose points for only having three enemies, but at least it has a good mix of weapon and health pickups so it's not a frustrating level to play on.
I'd replace Freeway Free For All for The Blimp, mmm watch out with Amazonia since it's Tactical Bacon Productions's favourite level, he ranked all levels from all 8 TM titles
Cyburbia is a great level the first one that had the impression of a whole city instead of a small segment. The Blimp level had crazy Slow-down like Ive never seen in any game
TM1's Arena Stage had TV monitors that displayed your screen on it, so technically TM1 did it first. Transylvania is definitely way too big. Half of the map I felt I never visited, and it doesn't help much that enemies can die quickly in this game. I think Drive-In is just a case of people liking the challenge aspect of it as opposed to the design aspect. They like having to think on their feet and move quickly to survive and overcome. The satisfaction comes from beating the level for them, regardless of how cheap or difficult it was. It's funny that Tokyo Rooftops from Head On lacks any sort of danger, when 3's version had literal lava in it. I also don't get why they used Tokyo twice as a level location, for the streets and rooftops. I wonder what they would have done for a New York remake, or other rooftop location.
The lava at least feels like its more draining than the lava in amazonia, where i never felt like i was in danger when driving over it to get to an island. in 3 it feels like a "oh i got to get out of here" type of deal
Drive In Movie is not a bad level, it's Minion's Stadium that's the worst level. It serves its purpose for the boss battle but outside that it really sucks as a level to play on.
Great List! The only one I disagree with is Freeway Free for All. Because 1, it's basically Nascar with guns so whats to hate, and 2, only because I saw two other comments with the exact same two opening sentences.
My gripes with twisted metal 3 and maybe 4 is that all the weapons and vehicles are nerfed to a point it's not fun playing as those vehicles twisted metal 4 they let certain vehicles have advantages but not enough to where I would want to invest more time then necessary
You did not say anything about it but I guess secret levels were excluded? "Soup of slide" slide from 2 is worse then Holland or Moscow and then there is the grid levels in 4......
I can't really pick ten, but ANY level like Holland or Moscow are just terrible. EXCEPT Washington. I get why people don't like it,its plain Jane. However, they did it right mechanically. Theres enough weapons to keep fighting, right amount of health, and its what I like in an open gladiator arena. Maybe add 4 or 5 enemies and itd be perfect. Maybe another destructible or hidden part of the level? But yeah, moscow, Holland and drive in are God awful. Now slaying on small brawl was honestly worse than gridiron gore. There is almost NEVER enough weapons. Basically playing a waiting game there. I've already ranted alot as to why I like minions maze, but I also see why others dislike it
Drive in isn’t that bad It’s definitely challenging but when I do plays of the main story I change it up Surprised he didn’t put prison ship on the list it goes from super tiny and slowly opens into a massage level
Thank god someone agrees that Drive in Movie sucks!! I swear the first time I played it the level took me HOURS to complete, just a chaotic mess. Now I choose Snowy Roads every time lol
I think one of the most overated levels in TM2 is Hong Kong. You fight eight enemies, so if you have a slow vehicle you get freeze spammed and team up on easily. The only level worse is Holland for the same reasons. TM1 gets a pass for being the first game. TM3 levels are the worst of the series, black is ok, and I never played TM4 or small brawl so idk much about those games.
13:21, in Minion's Maze underground area, you can see some portraits including Minion, Grimm, Sweet Tooth and... A goth girl??? Thats not Calypso... She has some hair lights and lipstick. Who is she?
I saw #1 from miles and miles away, it's also *my* worst level, i hate it with a strong passion, not to mention that i agree with basically most of the list
I mostly agree with this list, but I'd switch TM1 Freeway and Tokyo Rooftops as I find Freeway more boring. Also, Drive-In Movie isn't a well designed level, but overcoming its bullshit is incredibly satisfying to me. I don't disagree with your placement of it; it's just a guilty pleasure of mine. The first level to show your gameplay is actually TM1's arena level. If you look above the arena you can see a TV screen that shows your gameplay. Edit: I just realized someone commented about the TV screen first. Skill Issue on my part.
Drive-In Movie is OK its really just a super-hard level alternative to Snowy Road. You can pick Snowy Road and have it easy or go to Drive In if you want major punishment
i saw drive in as number 3 and i 100% agree i rather have snowy roads because of the fact its more funner then going in a circle. i tryed it once back in the day when it first came out after my 6th or 7th character tryed it regreted it. i never touched drive in ever again. even im confused why people say its the best level im a die hard tm fan but even i agree i dont like this level.

I think you missjudge on moscow; drive in movie is far more boring design than moscow, and you only chose drive by dificulty, wich makes no sense, drive in movie is far more frustrating.
The fact that this dude likes tm3 a lot more than tm2 says it all. He didn't know you can carry over weapons in tm2, he didn't know that enemies don't pick up health in tm2(not on purpose anyways), he didn't know that you can blow up the level Moscow and get a ton of weapons, he didn't know that once you use a password in tm3 that you get your lives back. This guy is just a no talent scrub. That's the truth of it.
Literally everything you said that I "don't know" I actually do? Where are you getting this information from lmao Also nobody uses the word "scrub" anymore grandpa. It's 2024.
What a fool you are. Plus... You ain't even got any content. Seems like you're the talentless scrub begging for attention, since your mommy apparently don't give it to you.
"It doesn't give you an indication that you carry over weapons. That's the most frustrating part" You have the weapons that you left the first level with. What more indication do you need, bozo? Someone has to explain that to you? Lol The very first time I played the game and moved on to Moscow, I looked through my weapons and said "oh cool, I still have the weapons from the last level." What kind of a doofus needs to be told that? "Good luck with the enemies not taking the health" They never take the health in TM2 unless they crash into it, which is EXTREMELY rare. That's not part of the game like it is with tm3. "There is only 3 of 4 weapon pick ups" That's not true. If you blow it up there are many more than that. "You only get a few lives to play through the whole game of tm3" That's not true, as you get new lives when you load a password. But tell us again how you knew everything that I said lol. The fact that you said the only way to survive the second level in the game, Moscow is to load up on weapons says it all. Moscow is easy, even on hard. You needing to find a way to "survive" the second level in the tournament tells me everything I need to know. You're bad. I can tell from your gameplay and whining that you just aren't good. Now cry some more. 2 isn't even my favorite, Black was. But 2 was harder than 3, which shows why you don't like 2. You just weren't good enough. Anyone who likes the physics of 3, or the game overall compared to 2 is instantly discredited in the TM community. And judging by your voice, you sound older than I do lol. So you even failed on your weak insult. "Oh yeah?...... Well you're old, random screen name!" Oof lol
@@VicariousNickk "they don't tell you that you can carry over weapons, which is ridiculous" The first time I played and made it to Moscow, I looked at my weapons and said "oh cool, they carry over". What kind of a dope says that as a huge complaint because it took you that long to realize lol? "DURRRRR how should I know they carry over DURRRRRRRR" LOL "Good luck picking up the health without the enemies taking them from you" They literally never take the health in TM2, unless you push them into it. So clearly you didn't know that. "There are only 3 or 4 weapons in Moscow" If you blow up the level, there are way more than 3 or 4. So clearly you didn't know that. "You have to beat the game on only a few lives" You get all lives back on a password load. So clearly you didn't know that. "The only way to survive on Moscow in the tournament is to stock up on weapons" That says it all. You are struggling to beat the second level, because you're terrible at the game. Most of this video is you whining because you aren't any good. But tell us again how you knew everything I listed.
Minions Maze feels like a Doom WAD that somehow ended up in a car combat game
It needed to be less complex with more variation to give you an idea of where the fuck you are
The thing about Moscow is that there ARE weapon pickups (and a hidden code), but they're hidden INSIDE of the ramps, so you need to have a remote bomb and pop it in the center console (button?) of the map to blow up all 4 ramps at once. There is no indication for this and there are no remote pickups on the map itself until the purple beam spawns one and you have to race for it if it appears.
There's actually a clue. One of the posters says "Взорвать мосты" (Blow up bridges). However, to read it, you need to know Russian.

But yeah, moscow, Holland and drive in are God awful. Now slaying on small brawl was honestly worse than gridiron gore. There is almost NEVER enough weapons. Basically playing a waiting game there.
I've already ranted alot as to why I like minions maze, but I also see why others dislike it
I always go Snowy Roads too, I cannot stand Drive-In Movie’s open space and lack of much of anything!
Drive in isn’t that bad
It’s definitely challenging but when I do plays of the main story I change it up
Surprised he didn’t put prison ship on the list it goes from super tiny and slowly opens into a massage level
You never play drive-in theater so why would you "dread" it?
Lmao you can't be serious

@@VicariousNickk Pretty much the top 40 I love. 40-60 I don’t mind but can be annoying and 60-80 are boring or awful.
How is Diablo pass higher than black rock and diesel city lol
@@7dogguy I didn’t play the 2012 maps that much, but I find Diesel City and Black Rock Stadium more boring because they both don’t flow that well. Diablo Pass even the full map can be fun plus it’s fun pushing people off.
@@BigSlick98 mine would probably be
1. Sunsprings
2. Diesel city/ black rock
3. Watkinz harbor
4. Metro square
5. Thrills and spills
6 la skyline
7 Diablo pass
#1 Moscow #2 drive in
I think you missjudge on moscow; drive in movie is far more boring design than moscow, and you only chose drive by dificulty, wich makes no sense, drive in movie is far more frustrating.
I totally disagree👎🏻 with you in TM2 levels especially Moscow
This comment is algorithm food
Nice 👍
The fact that this dude likes tm3 a lot more than tm2 says it all. He didn't know you can carry over weapons in tm2, he didn't know that enemies don't pick up health in tm2(not on purpose anyways), he didn't know that you can blow up the level Moscow and get a ton of weapons, he didn't know that once you use a password in tm3 that you get your lives back. This guy is just a no talent scrub. That's the truth of it.
Literally everything you said that I "don't know" I actually do? Where are you getting this information from lmao
Also nobody uses the word "scrub" anymore grandpa. It's 2024.
What a fool you are.
Plus...
You ain't even got any content. Seems like you're the talentless scrub begging for attention, since your mommy apparently don't give it to you.
@jonb2756 Man I'm not reading all this but glad to see you back man! You ended up ghosting me but I'll hit you up next time we have a session 🤝🏻
"It doesn't give you an indication that you carry over weapons. That's the most frustrating part"
You have the weapons that you left the first level with. What more indication do you need, bozo? Someone has to explain that to you? Lol
The very first time I played the game and moved on to Moscow, I looked through my weapons and said "oh cool, I still have the weapons from the last level."
What kind of a doofus needs to be told that?
"Good luck with the enemies not taking the health"
They never take the health in TM2 unless they crash into it, which is EXTREMELY rare. That's not part of the game like it is with tm3.
"There is only 3 of 4 weapon pick ups"
That's not true. If you blow it up there are many more than that.
"You only get a few lives to play through the whole game of tm3"
That's not true, as you get new lives when you load a password.
Well you're old, random screen name!"
Oof lol
@@VicariousNickk "they don't tell you that you can carry over weapons, which is ridiculous"
The first time I played and made it to Moscow, I looked at my weapons and said "oh cool, they carry over". What kind of a dope says that as a huge complaint because it took you that long to realize lol?
"DURRRRR how should I know they carry over DURRRRRRRR" LOL
"Good luck picking up the health without the enemies taking them from you"
They literally never take the health in TM2, unless you push them into it. So clearly you didn't know that.
"There are only 3 or 4 weapons in Moscow"
If you blow up the level, there are way more than 3 or 4. So clearly you didn't know that.
"You have to beat the game on only a few lives"
You get all lives back on a password load. So clearly you didn't know that.
"The only way to survive on Moscow in the tournament is to stock up on weapons"
That says it all. You are struggling to beat the second level, because you're terrible at the game. Most of this video is you whining because you aren't any good. But tell us again how you knew everything I listed.
