This was one of the greatest videos to me. It is so well done, from the amazing technology used for the first scenes walking on the paused/slow drag race track, to the humor and soundtrack and engine noise, to the overall philosophy of the driving experience. I enjoyed it all a lot. It might be one of the best video productions I’ve seen in a while. Nice job.

They get what? That cars like this only hasten the inevitable end of this civilization? Jason jokes about "the rest of the world arguing over CO2 emissions" and revels in conspicuous consumption, anticipating the Earth to blow up (a shot they have removed from the video)?
This is proper A-Level content! Jason is in a league of his own... Whenever he drops *anything* new, you know you're not gonna get anything else done for a while! Petrolhead bliss!
Three years later, the production quality of this clip is still surreal. The glorious slow motion drag race staging and overlays made a first ever appearance in this very video, to be repeated and emulated countless times since. However, it's the soundtrack and mixing in particular that is absolutely out of this world, with the composer and the sound engineer playing on heartstrings with perfect intuition and skill, leading the track up to the final crescendo and making it worth another listen, and another, and another... this is a timeless masterpiece for the history books.
I'd still take SG for non-corporate opinions, authenticity, and these annoying attempts to be cute. Hagerty is for a general audience, but serious car people watch other channels.

Watching Jason ranting about the Cadillac for such a long time really reminds me of James May's rant about Cadillac when he was driving the CTS-V 🤣 both of them really had so many things to say about Cadillac, yeah? Also I totally enjoyed this video because it's so inspiring. Amazing work.
It has become such a boring so called question. Cadillac has been making performance vehicles for nearly a two decades at this point. Why do these journalist insist on posing this BS argument to us?
Isn’t it a bit sad that a Doug Demuro video will get 5x the views this does? The guy has a tripod and five t-shirts as the only major budget items! Outstanding work Jason and the Hagerty team.
@Tesla Adverts The interior is easily recognizable because Tesla interiors have been known to be extremely spartan. Like you said, that is a subjective matter, but personally, I'd like to have more functionality and controls at a moments notice than navigating menus on a centered touchscreen that's not even driver-oriented. I personally don't like the infotainment and would prefer to have my own choice between Apple Carplay or Android Auto for better phone ecosystem integration. As a person who would prefer to have more fun driving the car than doing anything else but driving, software features are less important to me, but wouldn't hurt to have them. Yoke wheel is a terrible idea, you don't really get that much more front view from omitting the top of the steering wheel. Rode in a Model 3 for a day, was not comfortable at all in my opinion due to lack of adequate cushioning. The exterior of Model 3s now look extremely aged and is starting to look like a blob (Model S is probably Tesla's best looking car in their entire lineup). Interior space is fine in the Model 3, but I could probably say the same for many other cars in the same segment. I did hear the sound system is pretty good on Tesla cars, that is one thing a lot of other car brands fall behind. I've personally heard Mark Levinson in Lexus cars and they sound pretty damn good for a car surround sound system. Yes, Tesla's overall build quality is terrible and might even say amongst the worst in the industry: not only panel gaps, but bumpers and roofs falling out, peeling paint, suspension issues (that forced a recall that Tesla delayed for ages), and many more. And not to mention having to deal with their sketchy customer and repairs services. The Tesla cars feel more like a daily appliance that you'd discard after a few years just to get another one, whereas the other cars mentioned in this video feel like something I'd actually go take out for the weekend drive. There's just so many more characteristics that defines what a car is on the BMW and Cadillac when compared to the Tesla.
I just had the experience of driving the plaid. It’s so fast and so boring. I am so happy that Jason and the video production team made this video to illustrate what is happening in our car enthusiast world with phasing out all of these emotional masterpieces and making these lifeless super cars. With all of the federal emissions regulations choking out our greatest passions, I feel the sadness coming soon my car enthusiast brothers. Our days are numbered….
I hear ya, and am sorry that these type of cars will be basically hobby cars eventually, i don't understand how having the feeling of the Gs of a 0-60 launch rollercoaster on tap is lifeless? Boring sure, but lifeless nah. I hope more of the same hobbyists find ways to make Model S Plaids and other performance EVs more 'life'ful
@@megashadow1390 I rented a plaid for a few days and the launching was very fun. After you launch it 40 times though you start to realize that's all it is and it has nothing else to it. None of the silly drama from a screaming engine that I and many others want. There is no feeling of control through a transmission. It can't stop very well and the handling is lackluster. It is just a 0-whatever you are brave enough to reach machine and that gets boring after you experience it for a while, in my opinion.
I disagree a bit. I own the model 3 performance and since the batteries sit at the bottom and centered, the center of gravity is super low and the performance is incredible, it handles and takes turns like if i was driving on velcro. The brakes are sick as well better than most cars if not all in its price range. Check out the vids where it compared the braking performance between teslas and other super cars in car wow.

I can understand the thrill the Cadillac provides, even though it is slower. An analogy would be that i've had many motorcycles, but my smallest one, a 1982 50cc 2-stroke HONDA MB5 was the most fun to ride! I had to constantly shift the 5-speed manual in order to get it in the powerband, and try to wrest as much out of that screaming 7.1 HP engine, but it was a blast to do so! Maximum speed was only 55 MPH (which is great for a 50cc bike), but OH the fun involved in getting there! The bike sounds like a chainsaw on steroids, but I would never trade it for anything! I still ride the big bikes, but the fun factor is not the same as my Honda MB5 or even my Yamaha RD100 twin! But I digress...
I still wish they'd put an NA small block in the smaller caddy. it would have around the same power but it would be V8 power. Slower really is starting to seem better. I guess the Miata guys were right all these years.
The Cadillac would been quicker if they used the 10 speed automatic transmission option instead of the manual. Also, it's rwd Unfortunately but it was slightly quicker due to it's well balanced chassis and handling. Rwd cars have more responsive better handling than AWD cars in general but not always.
So many automotive publications/ "professionals in the industry" played themselves by not taking Jason's insight into to automotive industry seriously, not letting him have full creative control on their content, and doubting his, umm lets just say, one of kind personality (I might be fangirling a bit.) Glad Hagerty didn't make the same mistake. Go back and watch any of Jason involved videos and tell me I am wrong!

Not to mention what the stealerships are doing with the prices, when will they realize all they are doing in the long run with these markups is opening their own veins in a warm bath?

Three years later, the production quality of this clip is still surreal. The glorious slow motion drag race staging and overlays made a first ever appearance in this very video, to be repeated and emulated countless times since. However, it's the soundtrack and mixing in particular that is absolutely out of this world, with the composer and the sound engineer playing on heartstrings with perfect intuition and skill, leading the track up to the final crescendo and making it worth another listen, and another, and another... this is a timeless masterpiece for the history books.

Just like how people buy Apple and Tesla products and spend $200 on Nike shoes and $100 for Lululemon yoga pants.
@@RAZGR1Z What's wrong with $200 Nike shoes? Am I supposed to wear $10 no-brand-name shoes?

@@megashadow1390 its a one and done type thing. You can launch it a few times but when there is only one factor going on it gets dull quickly.

*Coughs in renault twingo* ;-)
I still wish they'd put an NA small block in the smaller caddy. it would have around the same power but it would be V8 power. Slower really is starting to seem better. I guess the Miata guys were right all these years.
My best comparison is similar but a Yamaha rd 350 6 sp was the motorcycle version of the fun blackwing...my opinion!
The Cadillac would been quicker if they used the 10 speed automatic transmission option instead of the manual. Also, it's rwd Unfortunately but it was slightly quicker due to it's well balanced chassis and handling. Rwd cars have more responsive better handling than AWD cars in general but not always.
