Mrs H 🇬🇧 ... Into today's era this film may look cheesy but I loved it in the 70's as a child & have watched it numerous times since... A lovely tribute to Michael Rennie... Thank you...❤
A lovely tribute to Michael Rennie. I didn't know he was from Bradford. I loved that film The Day the Earth Stood Still. We certainly need someone to come and shake the world up at this moment in time. I lived in Idle for twenty years. I've lost count the number of times I walked up Bank from Harrogate Road to Norman Lane. Heck of a steep hill. 🙋♀️
I know all those places. Margaret, we come from the same neck of the woods by the sounds of it ☺️
One of my favourite films,RIP Michael and a massive thankyou. Great programe once again.
And equally. Thank you Mike for taking the time to tell me. Much appreciated 👍
Yes respect for Michael Rennie! The concept of The Day The Earth Stood Still, has at least a "degree of relevance" even now! Once again i thoroughly enjoyed this!!😊😊
Thank you Adrian. It's a nice idea but it's never been practical and realistic which is a shame. Regards, Alan
@@MotorHomeBeepBeepThe idea of a mystery entity bringing the world to a halt is an interesting one i think. But no it probably won't happen. But yes Michael Rennie "thoroughly decent guy" by the sound and look of it!! Thanks for the reply Alan, look forward to further content from you!
Love watching you always have kind words well done 😊
Well Lorraine that's then equal because you also have kind words. Thank you, Alan
Thank you for this lovely tribute to a great actor. I saw him just the other day in a film called "The Wicked Lady" in which he played the love interest of Margaret Lockwood. It's a fantastic film and it catapulted all of its players to stardom. Two other co-stars in this film were James Mason and Patricia Roc. Incidentally, Margaret Lockwood was one of the BIGGEST stars in England during the 1940s, but sadly when she died in 1990, she was practically forgotten. Such is the fickle hand of fate (and fame) I suppose.
Very interesting User what did they say about newspaper? Yesterday's news it happens collectors as well unless they hit the big time..
This was an old cemetery Alan I remember that movie what a handsome man they were back then weren’t they Alan piercing blue eyes by the look of him so handsome looks cold and bleak the weather thanks al bye take care ❤️😊
Oh one of my much missed moms ❤️ favourites one of the old oldies RIP ❤️
I'm glad it brought back memories...
Alan. Another lovely British Artists we don't hear about any more Valeria Hobson. Buitifull Actress I've allways admired her Film's, That would be nice if you could find her final resting place.
God bless Valerie Hobson.❤
Hi Andre I've never heard of her but I had a look and I can see what you mean. She was very beautiful and she certainly worked a lot as an actress so I've written it down but she's final resting place is in Sussex so hopefully I'll get there and I'll give you a name mansion, thank you for the idea. Regards, Alan
Thanks Alan for a absolutely tribute to Michael Rennie I think I have watched The Day the world stood Still years ago ill have to watch it again but he seemed a very good actor
But well done bringing this video take care
Hi Karl, I always say expected it to be too old and corner like I said but s. Once it go going, I love the message behind it where they have developed the robot to stop war but somehow these old films have a charm. I enjoyed it even though I had to pay £3.50 to watch it on Amazon prime 😅 see you later mate..
great to see you again Alan remember watching this film when the earth stood still when I was a kid back in the sixties great film. Great actor. Agree with you when you say don’t worry about growing old and losing your hair etc., like you it really worried me and self conscious to begin with but you have to accept it and not let it bother you. Like you said.
Well done James, we're in the same club were not bothered it was a great film. Thank you, Alan
I remember seeing this film at the ABC Minors at our local Commodore on a Saturday morning. :)
O.k Alan Again thankyou for your reply. Looking forward to seeing Valerie Hobson that's if you get round to her Grave site, ? Alan There are Dozens of grave sites all over the Country of British Actors who mabe forgotten; ?
I haven't forgotten these Wonderful people, Alan before i leave you in peace 😊
Another Brilliant Actor Will Hay. I have all his Films lets not forget Graham Moffat, & Another adoring Actor More Mattiott.
Anyway. Alan God Bless, Andre.
Andrea, I've just set you on as chief finder. I do realise it just all text time and I ever busy lives. I'll do my best. Thank you. Take care of yourself. Alan
Alan, Just found your Christian name , 😂 Thats it Goodnight,
Thanks for another great video, Alan, and the wise words 💞
Hi M many thanks
Words of wisdom, never a truer word, Alan. Thank you for doing this local lad turned movie star. I love the remake of Michael's movie, The Day ..with Keanu Reeves. Its a story that will be retold many times as its a recurring story, isnt it. Best wishes, Alan
Hello! G I've never seen the remake of the movie. I noticed it didn't have as higher score as the original, but obviously you think it's a good version. Thank you for telling me. Take care, Alan
Another great video! Thank you for going to places most of us cannot.
Very sweet sue. Thank you
Hi Alan, another great report on a great icon on the past. Hope you are well, nice to see you need a hat in cold weather, glad I’m not the only one, it’s an age thing 😂. Klaatu is pleased you have honoured him and reminded us of him together with his message which as you say is as relevant, perhaps more so today than in the Cold War. His narration of ‘The Deserts Rats’ film helped make it a great one too. Keep them coming and all the best.
Hi CFP yes if we Gort we would all be safe :-) Keep happy with your mind and you will fine with all .. and with a nice warm hat :-) cu
Love your honesty and down to earth humour, you made me smile, and what an interesting chap, I really must check the film out, you've done him proud, and as always done us proud ❤
That's extremely considerate and nice of you Wendy. The nice thing about doing the films is that I get to know so much more about the people and in this case I didn't even know of Michael but when it's over I then go back and watch more of their content quiet often which is really the wrong way around 😕But that's the way it goes. Thank you ever so much by the way. Lovely to see you Alan
Thanks for the video Alan, brilliant has always. Mark Twain did say, Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.
Hi User I agree with that but the trick is to be happy with what you got health nothing else matters night mate
Thanks good man take care Richard
And you, Richard
Hi Alan, another great video, and a bit nearer to home! Didn’t know anything about Michael Rennie, but I do now! Need to ask about the beep! Beep! Flower though?? Cheers
Hi again Alan! Good to see you again! Another great vid. This one surprised me as I live in Harrogate and didn't know this international Actor was resting here! Cheers mate.
Well that's nice. Rodger if you're pressing you could even popping and have a luck yourself and Is last home is just down the road with the brown plaque. Thanks, Mate
Hi Alan. Your videos never disapoint. A great actor for his time, always reminded me of Peter Cushing for the way he looked and spoke. Already looking forward to the next one.
Hi GD a very good observation. I can see what you mean about Peter Cushing. They were both similar gentleman types just like myself 😎 I'm going bob over to channel and see what you've been up to ☺️ Thank you
Hi Alan. What an Actor Michael Rennie was , An English actor & How many British actors Born in there home town & are Berried in there home town, ? He allways looked a gentleman I'm sure he was. I'd put him in the same class as Roger Moore,
& The plack i have to say Outstanding, Anyway, Being in America Films & British i would have put money down on him being Berried in America, God Bless him & Family, ❤
Hello Andre I know exactly what you're saying. When they've worked in America they tend to stay there but he came over for his mother and then sadly died a few years later and it is the family plot. It was quite nice to see that they had the brown plaque installed on the home which is literally less than mile down the road and his son arranged that last year. Great to speak with you Alan
Thanks Alan for the video ot was great
And so are you Anthony
Thanks again Alan,Remember watching that film. On today's standards it would be a bit corny, It must of been good as I still remember it years later. Great actor taken far to soon RIP Michael
Hello Steve, well considering it was done in in 1951 it does look a little bit. Simplistic and unsophisticated but I think what makes it great film is the idea behind it which still exist today that human beings are out of control specially when it comes to war. And it's such a nice idea that they've used their intellect to go out with a solution, the robots that are in ultimate control the only thing that would make me a bit scared as what if they decided to not just police but to take control 😅 nice to speak with you Alan
Great video again Alan very informative and lovely words of wisdom at the end thank you mate ❤👍🏻
Thank you for taking the time Adam. That's kind of you
Hi Alan, I so loved Michael Rennes films. Great Actor. I remember he did another film that was similar. He played an astronaut who came back from space only to find he was turning into an alien. It was filmed at Crystal Palace. I can't for the life of me remember what it was called. Someone might remember it. Best wishes ❤️
Hi Ayesha could it be cyborg? 2087 a few people have mentioned this film, but like I said I really didn't know. Michael until I done the research and watch the film but I do intend as I often do spending more time watching which is really the wrong way around but it just happens that way I get to like them etc Thank you every so much for taking interest and pointing me. Regards, Alan
I do enjoy watching your videos, and i love the campervan 🇬🇧🇹🇷🇬🇧🇹🇷
Thank you, Freddy
Thank you Alan I always enjoy watching, I can’t say I ever watched the film you mentioned but I recognise his face. Great tribute you did. I wish I could think like you about appearances I would jump at a facelift 😂❤❤
Hi JKK Remember one thing that all the strangers you made there today don't care they're too busy thinking about themselves and the people you do know don't care because that care about you. Dont worryi about your looks :-)
Nice one Alan ......where was the Motorhome beep beep flower?
Hello Roger, I did take one but it was all stone so there wasn't. Anyway you could really put it and it would stay but thank you for your observation. I appreciate you keeping a watch on me 😆 all the best, Alan
Great video Alan I really enjoyed it
Nice to hear from you Diane
Morning Alan, I sold the old family home Norman Bank on Idle Road a few years ago. The property is the prominent detached. My grandma knew the family as well.
Hello Martin, very interesting, I wish I had known that. So it's on Idle Road not Idle village ? On the internet it just said number 10 Norman Bank Idle.
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep Hi Alan, past the dentist on the left after 5 Lane ends roundabout is to be found the property. It has I believe still got Norman Bank on the gate posts. I knew it was their previous home before selling it, but the existing owner didn't. I can say I have sold a Hollywood stars house🏡cheers Martin
Hi Alan mate trust you are keeping well and thanks for sharing always enjoy your videos keep well
Hi Hance likewise, I hope you are keeping well. I'm trying to lose some weight wight the moment 😉
Thank you again, Alan. I didn't know anything about this actor. Thank you for this informative video.
I also didn't know anything about him. Joy, but I watched the film The Day this they have stood still and I enjoyed it even though it was very old.
I'll check it out Alan
Klaatu barada nikto
The score, by bernard Hermann, is iconic
They're still debating. I think what it means..
Great as always Alan, no fake American accent from rennie
Good point Moggy he actually worked to project his voicemail but he had a very deep strong tone. Thank you mate
I love it you did a great job
Michelle And so did you. Thank you for so much. That's very kind of you. Much love, Alan
... such words of wisdom to us all! Hello Alan (and all your viewers.) It's a priveledge to us all you dedicating this video to this wonderful - and handsome - actor. You have a wonderful nature of keeping so many people of the past, present. That is such a virtue!
I was fortunate enough to spend a few days in Harrogate (we had a stand at a Home Exibition) back in the early 90's. The town left a deep impression on me... such a friendly and peaceful place. That cementry looks in keeping of my memories: it's absolutely beautiful!
I should thank you - on behalf of all us viewers - for your words and ways.. You make me - and I'm sure all - feel like.. like a community of friends, no matter where we are!
Lastly, despite it having been quite an overcast day there, your sense of humour is more than enough to brighten up anyone's day!
Thank you so much Alan
Hi Leo my head is spinning do you mean me? but Big hug I was happy to hear about your time in Harrogate sounded lovely and it is supposed to be one of the happiest places in the UK to live I have heard I do love the place BUT you brightened up my evening. I hope we meet one day :-) Be Happy
Nice one Alan.
An excellent choice. I recognised the face , if not the name. Thoroughly enjoyed this 👌
And I feel like enjoyed reading your comment. Jacqueline, Thank you, Alan
Hi Alan very interesting story thanks for sharing . Quite a handsome man in the day. Love from Holmfirth West Yorkshire 💙 💚
Hi Gill I think he was very suave quite the dashing type ... Just the type I hate 😆 but thank you! It's always great to see you. I bet you not gardening at the moment 😉
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep I've been really ill since October and to make it worse I'm doing it alone my children don't want anything to do with me because I stood up to them. Long story. Spent Christmas on my own. 💙💚
Ooh Roger Kipling great grandparents are in the burial ground operate where I live
Great channel mate 👍😎
A really interesting one Alan.
I must confess, I'd not heard of Michael Rennie. So now I'll have to watch the film 😁
I might even take a drive up north to visit this grave myself.
Hope I'll bump into you too at some point because I didn't know who you were when I saw you at Lena Zavaroni's grave.
All the best Alan. Keep the videos rolling in 😊
Hello Alan, do you mean that I met you when I did Lena Zavaroni how do you mean since you watch my film probably the latter?😆 But by all means if you are in my location at any point, give me a shout. I am thinking of posting on it in advance when I'm going. I've met a few people from the channel and it's great, especially when I've seen that names over and over. Again, Thank you my friend. All the best, Alan
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep Not quite Alan 😁 I happened to visit Lena's grave moments before you did. In fact, if you look at that video, at about 2.05 you can see a spooky figure in the background putting flowers on her grave. Well - that was me 😆
A other brilliant video Alan Alan i was in Riddrie cemetery in Glasgow visiting Glasgow godfather Author Thomas keep them coming Alan👍.
Hello John, so we're both doing this similar job I'm glad you a successful 👍
Thanks Alan 😊.
Another great video Alan, you put a smile on my face watching your videos. He looked like a proper gentleman. I remember him in The Robe 💖💖
Hello Trisha, you've got the advantage. I've never seen the film but he looker the part I agree 😎
Hi Alan what you said at the end about not bothering what people think is spot on. When I was in my thirties I shaved my head and it been the same ever since and it never bothered me. Another great video by the way. Keep up the good work can’t wait till the next one.👏👏👏👍
Hi Psy you and we both are on the same page as they say nowadays but we've been on it for a long time and that's good 😆 I think it applies to everything. It's such a comparison society about everything you own nowadays. I just don't want to get involved and will not and then you are free from that pressure, it's great to see you my friend. PS. I told my barber who had been going to for many years when I was in my 30s.... I've got a much cheaper and better barber than he looked very upset and ask me who and I said me 😉 good old electric shaver....👍
Hi again Alan, good to see you as always. Michael Rennie was a terrific actor, and l did like his voice. You mentioned plastic surgery, and l agree there's a lot of pressure on celebrities particularly to stay young looking, watch the weight and all of that. Mickey Rourke is a prime example. Anyway take care of yourself and l look forward to your next video..........
I never knew Mickey Rourke succumbed to plastic surgery. Thank you every so much. I'll do my best. Great to see you Mary!
Thank you. Never seen the Day the Earth stood still, but have a few of his other movies on DVD. A very strikingly handsome man. ❤
I will try his other films i did not know him before
You are so right Alan whatever you said life is too short..😊
Absolutely, let's set off and travel..
Didn’t know he came from Harrogate? Tku for the bio and another interesting video. A lovely man.
I've got to come fast. Mary, I got that slightly wrong. He originally came from Bradford but he spent most of his adult life in England in Harrogate and that's where his mother lived just down the road from the cemetery.
Thanks for sharing.@@MotorHomeBeepBeep
enjoyed good video
Another great insight to one of our great actors 👍
Thank you very much David
I'd forgotten all about the actor & film. On my list to watch this weekend now. ❤Thank you for the video, I really enjoyed it 😊
Hi Caron it is an old film and quite simplistic in some ways but it's got a good message and it's entertaining. I hope you get to see it. Thank you, Alan
I saw this movie in the past week for the second time. Michael Rennie did a lot of films. I liked his acting a lot such a shame tgere is no one looking after the grave but that’s life I guess. Thanks once again Alan 👍👍
Thank you, Annett I am going to try and catch some more of his films. I didn't know of him until I done the research and watched the film. It does seem a shame, especially when they put a brown plaque in his honour on the last year and it's less than a male down the road where he lived. Thank you, Alan
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep Ah Alan that’s because I was born in 1948 and you weren’t 🤣🤣
Hi Alan always enjoy your videos never heard of Michael or seen the day the earth stood still but did see the Robe so i wouldn't have known him but will look out for him in future films nothing wrong with your hair we are what we are who will we visit next good luck 👍
Hi Netta that's all I was trying to say if it helps people that are younger. It's such a waste of effort. People love people not what they look like unless they're very shallow. Thank you, Alan
Never watched the film Alan .... What a lovely big headstone .... Lovely Tribute
Hi Debbie, I'm not big into science fiction and it is a very old film but I can honestly say I really enjoyed watching it so if you ever get the chance maybe. Thank you my friend. Alan
A real upsetting location from the amount of neglect not including the local church sitting in a ground wasting away. Also, really felt a sense of eeriness too and especially with the backstory of the young boy who was killed from a falling headstone at the site. Thanks Alan, may Michael live forever in all our memories.
Hi EG you're right, it did have an overall feeling neglect and lack of people caring about the graves. I was totally on my own. They were very roofing the church but I was surprised that his son had organised the brown plaque last year in his memory and it said they're visited the crave but it really just needs cleaning up. What's a shame? Thank you! Always great to see you. Regards, Alan
Don't change anything about yourself, Alan!!
One of my most liked films, The day the earth stood still and very surprised he’s buried in England.
Loved that film!
Excellent. He was one of my favourites, especially 'The Day The Earth Stood Still' and 'The Third Man'. I thought he was an American. I didnt know he was born and bred in England. After watching 'The Day The Earth Stood Still' I always thought of him as a bit alien 😊. Its one of the great films of all time. The remake with Keanu Reeves is also very good but despite the modern tech it still cant match the original. I always think of Keanu as a bit alien 😊. Could it actually happen ? Answer = lets wait and see. We may not have too long too wait.
My hubby likes this film, he’s watched it a few times. Interesting one again! Keanu Reeves was in the remake I think? We’re living in scary times, we could learn from the message in this old movie
Hello Shirley from the review the old one as a much highest score than the new version.
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep my hubby would agree
Hello one of the best films I think good video and he was handsome man and a good actor I think 😊
Alan have you seen David Kelly's grave... (Albert Riddle, Robins nest)
Loved him in everything he did!
Okay my friend. Where is he spill the beans?
you so right Alan we need robots like them. what a great world it would be
If we had Dave it is stop all the problems we gladly want them.. Thank you friend
I heard he was ill, the day the earth stood still, but he told us where we stand.
O.K. Alan . I do follow Your Visit, Allways been interested in the Grave site's of Hollywood stars & British stars , I don't want to sound morbid about this, Anyway. Alan Hollywood stars.? You would have a field day over there " With respect" ,
Alan. All the best, Andre,
Hi Andre Thank you for the idea and encouragement. I've been to America 15 years ago and in one graveyard in Los Angeles there was so many to mention. I will try and do it one day. It's just life, time and money but if I can in the next year or two I'm going go over there and do some of the greatest. Thank you, Alan
Thankyou very much for your reply, Yes Michael' was a very good man as I've mentioned, One thing? It would be nice to see the Family Memorial stone cleaned up a bit. Could hardly see his Name on the stone,
Nothing personal, I think he would be Happy Man ,Im not suggesting some one go & clean it on my say, That would be up to family & so ? Anyway. Thankyou,
I agree with you Andrea. The strangest thing is that they went to visit it in 2023 when the plaque was unveiled. So you think they would have cleaned the grave at the time? Anyway, it's nice that the plaque was organised by son David. All the best, Alan
The best sci fi film of the fifties with Patricia Neil, Sam Jaffe and Hugh Marlow.
Even today it beats the computer generated rubbish that they turn out.
Just recently the rubber suit that was Gort has been renovated after being
found rotting in storage.
5*****
Hello Ronald, that's super interesting to know about the rubber suit. It is quite iconic. I wonder if they're renovated it. I could wear it when I'm going shopping to the supermarket. But thank you very much. That's really interesting. I'll try and Google it and see if I can find out what's happened. All the best, Alan
Such a handsome actor with a beautiful voice. I might be wrong but his Mother was murdered so it says on Wikipedia.
Oops I read that wrong, it was the Mother of one of his wife's.
Hi Alan good timing the weather my god you’re keen you are funny when you took your hat off you looked like darth vader with your black collar up I mean that jokingly thanks for the video Alan take care ❤️😊
Hello Crystal, do you want me to buy a pot of black paint for my head? Then I can go full. Darth Vader 😂
Sometimes, the older films ARE the best.
Not sometimes...ALL the time
Quite so, yes.@@naytch2003
I get teased, about this, I always watch old films, new films don't have real actors anymore
Hi Alan any chance you could do Paul o gradys grave plz x
Hi User i done it take a look, my friend
Hi Alan it is hard to shed the pounds, I have managed to keep weight off my weight for the whole year has been around 11 Stn 10 pounds I have to try and keep down as I have Osteoarthritis on my spine and the lumber area It have to take a cocktail of pills daily I have been dianosed with autoimmune diaease linked to Primary Sjogren's Syndrome the body attacking itself from within I have dry mouth continually gritty eyes and everything I eat has no taste and I took this threw COVID Vaccine
Hi Hance the weird thing is I never know what people are doing or suffering, I only see the posts etc I'm so sorry to hear about this but I do realise from my partner who died just every year ago that live can be extremely tough. We're not all equipped with the same ability to copy also notice. But I do think if we can grasp the good bits from life and enjoy them and think positively it can only help. But it sounds easy but I realise it's not. Do keep in touch. I do appreciate you telling me and thank you for your support of the channel. I hope we meet one day. Take care. See you very soon. Alan
The symbol is not a dollar sign, it's a christogram - an abbreviation for Jesus Christ.
the film is mucg less boring than this dart's video
