A blast from the past I remember this film when I was young and it scared the hell out of me. The day the earth stood still
Thanks for watching. 💙
Well put together as always!!! Glad you showed his wonderful voice to full effect playing Klaatu. He went to school in my home city of Cambridge, though born in Bradford, and only became an actor because he didn't want to be an executive in his family firm. He had tried selling cars but stopped after a year failing to sell a single one!! Real name Eric Alexander, his great-great grandfather, John Rennie (1761-1821) designed and built Waterloo Bridge. His designs for London Bridge were taken up after his death by his sons - the London Bridge later bought by the Americans and taken brick by brick to Arizona. Always a heavy smoker which hospitalised him on a few occasions in the late 1960s, he lived in Geneva in his last few years, and is perhaps only buried in Harrogate because he died there of a heart attack, at his mother's house, whilst comforting her on the death of his older brother. The attack was due to an aneurysm from his emphysema... he never quite hit the heights of stardom, perhaps being 6' 4" was a bit too tall for Tom Cruise-like appeal.
Can't believe that the research didn't reveal his great-great grandfather. Anyhow, many thanks Mark, much appreciated, as always 💙.

You're welcome and thanks for watching. 💙
A graveyard that big I was expecting more famous people to be burried there.
Very nice video & interesting.
This cemetery is deceiving as it's quite small. In fact, probably one of the smallest locations to date. However, really appreciate you watching. Many thanks. 💙
These amazingly structured videos are not just quick tours they are an well researched and well presents histories. It is obvious that there is a hell of a lot of planning and that must go into producing them. On this topic absolutely he best on UA-cam and more people will discover that.
Such kind words, thank you 💙
I have lived in Harrogate for 56 years and only recently found out about Michael, s grave and visited to say Hello.Very surprised it wasn't a bigger separate grave stone with just him on it.
R.i.p.
I'm soulfully connected to the town of Harrogate and was also surprised when I discovered his whereabouts. Really appreciate your support and thanks for watching.
I knew years ago that he attended Harrogate grammar school which I used to pass regularly as a child I will never pass again thousands of kms away but I always remember going there for sporting activities used to be a large grassy area at the front
Good vid ..
And great audience. Many thanks 💙.
I watched The day the Earth stood still when I was a little kid , I remember being terrified of the big robot Gort 🤣🤣
My Mum said exactly the same, thanks for watching. 💙
a good actor
Agree 💙
I know this cemetery well as my parents lived in Harrogate and my brother still does. Did you actually show Michael Rennie’s grave? Was it the large white obelisk . I didn’t see his name?
Rennie's grave was indeed the large white obelisk. Also, it's the family plot. Thanks for watching, much appreciated.
Is there also a crematorium at this cemetery? Asking because I know Steve Marriott (of the group, The Small Faces) was cremated at Harlow Crematorium in 1991.
Hello Sandy, Thanks for your message. Harlow Hill cemetery does not have a crematorium. However, i do believe your request is referring to Harlow crematorium in Essex. I'm quite sure that the U.K has two places of location called "Harlow". Hope this helps! and thanks for watching.
@@EnglishGrave Thank you so much. Yes, that would be the one, as Steve Marriott was from Essex.
@@sandypompilii6901 You're welcome 💙
Soon there be no were two put people all the places will be full up
Hence the reason why some cemeteries have now decided to shorten the leases on some graves. Thanks for watching 💙.
