Corbett's daughter always maintained that the riff between him and and Bramble wasn't as bad as people made it out to be... I remember when Corbett died the BBC had Bramble film a short piece about him and he was in tears...
So so sad he not got a better headstone . He brought so much laughter to people . He should have that headstone redone
Exactly Paul. It does seem sad that they were such a big star with so many people following them and then it's completely forgotten. How sad
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep if there's a collection for him to have better headstone let us know . He deserves it . .isn't there a actors charity that sort these things out ? He really deserves better this bloke ?
He did have a daughter I would have thought
she would have taken better care of it, mind you
I suppose it depends in which part of the country
she stays in.🤔
@@StooFras-TheFiresofHell. thanks for reply . But dare say she getting the royalties . Don't care if my dad died make sure grave cared for . Disgrace this headstone .concrete cheapest going ? He deserves a better monument ?
Let's all chip in and get him sumit better
I still watch Steptoe, every night on that’s tv,seen them countless times, but never will tire of watching them.
Funny enough Michelle. I'm watching them on UA-cam at the moment it's classic. It never dates. Thank you
Loved watching steptoe and son they don’t make great shows like this anymore
I myself am 79 years young and have
always rated Steptoe and Son as my
all time favourite comedy, In fact I
just finished watching one this morning
the one when Hercules had died and
Harry had bought another horse but his
Dad didn't want to know at first, but it all
turned out well in the end, great stuff.😊
I love to see that episode. I'll see if I can find it online somewhere. Thank you for telling me and it's nice to meet you keeping touch. Alan
Thank you Alan! Those of us lucky enough to have grown up in the golden era of British comedy are so fortunate! Another great, eyeopening video.. thanks again!
Hi Leo They really did make some classics in that area it's always interesting to know how the stars got on behind the scenes. You could never tell these two didn't get on. It was so good on screen.
I absolutely love Steptoe and Son it's my favourite from Co Mayo Ireland
Steptoe and son the best comedy show ever along with dad's army i loved Steptoe and son i couldn't stop laughing at them especially the father Wilfred bramble the way he spoke rip both of you thanks for the laughter and the memories hhc and wb ❤❤
When life was good in comedy, a sad loss of talent, but may Harry Rest in Peace
Rest in peace Harry brought many years of laughter to audiences around the world ❤️🌍
Thanks Alan for such a touching moment at Harry H Corbett's grave love to you
Hello Colin I start to get this kind of dread that I don't want to go. It's a bit irrational. I'm okay once I've gone. Thank you mate.
Not sure what you mean dread going to visit a grave ?@@MotorHomeBeepBeep
Such a good actor gone too soon, loved steptoe and son ♥
Love Harry H, he was a unique talent and a very interesting man, He was a decorated Royal Marine and served in the Malayan. emergency. Born in British Burma and educated in Manchester. Rip Harry H Corbet.
Paul great info thanks Alan
Will never get another comdy like that I grew up with that
Still makes me laugh to this day, saw all the series and films. My fave was with the greyhound. RIP Harry and thanks for the laughs!
I love that film also. Rachel when they're tried to get The greyhound to run...
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep Hilarious!
Brilliant Alan 🤩 he was a great memory from my childhood. 😊
Thanks, John I have to wonder if it encourage people to become rag and bone men probably not :-)
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep I was always fascinated how different they were in real life to one another. Perhaps Brambell’s Irish background played a part in his drinking and the way he came across in life and his relationship with Corbett? But they had a great onscreen chemistry which perhaps wouldn’t have worked as well if they didn’t have the friction between themselves in real life?!
Loved Steptoe and Son
Hi Ann beautiful comedy!
Oil drum 🥁 lane in shepherd bush 🤣where Albert and Harold lived with a load of junk in their home. 🏘️
'Brilliantly acted & scripted' I absolutely loved Steptoe & Son. It dosen't altogether surprise me that in 'real life' they didn't necessarily get on, because unfortunately the showbiz industry is littered with examples of this. As ever great content Alan.😊
I was there a few weeks ago, loved steptoe and son, I meet him what a wonderfull man.
Thank you so much for this video, I too share your emotion. I now am 56, and share your feelings. Love to Harry RIP 💔
Brilliant actor loved him in carry on screaming. One of my favourite carry on films

What a very funny programme that was you could never get away with half the stuff they did nowadays. Thanks again Alan for a great video 💖💖what a lovely burial place 💖

Well done Harrie it must be a nice memory
Doesn't he have a lovely place to rest ! Like a beautiful secret garden.
What a lovely tribute to a wonderful comedian. Thanks Alan
Sometimes Linden you go to a place like when I did. Danny LaRue and it's awful as a bad vibe but that wasn't the case. You're right, this was a beautiful location. Very tranquille it just feels nice. Regards Alan
Best sitcom ever. Two brilliant actors.

This is true my dads horse was the granson of steptoe horse he was beautiful and dad call him Danny many happy years my dad had with his horse .
Amazing! Sue sorry was the grandson of Hercules. Can you imagine if they went to a book signing Hercules could put the hoof down :-) Thank you for the very interesting comment Alan
Yes dad uses to do wedding with him beautiful horse. We still gave the carriage dad use and dad's out fit it was yellow and black with a top hat .and the carriage is yellow and black beautiful . My Daughter got married in it but dad had past away but she wanted grandads Carriage that was a must . Thank you .
@@suestevens342 For all of this story on the carriage sounded superb. I wonder what? Hercules was really called it probably was something different. Sounds of a funny name for the series. Anyway, thank me for your lovely memories. Alan
Thank you for this one. His class of comedy was second to no one. That was when comedians were talented, not like the modern talentless bunch who have to keep swearing just to make people laugh (from embarrassment normally).
His timing and quality was pure genius.......never to be seen again.
Great observations Diceman Harry was a fine actor. All the best my friend, Alan
Great video ,Loved watching steptoe & son. You can never get feed up on watching them .❤
Legend rem S&S as a young lad God Rest his Soul taken so early. When Comedy and life was a bit more straight forward.
It was a simple life
I used to watch. Steptoe and Son. All the time. The writers Galton and Simpson also wrote for Tony Hancock.
Loved Steptoe & Son. Thanks, Alan for the video.
Very kind of you Belinda. Take care
Great video of a great actor and just like you Alan Steptoe and son is one of my favourite comedies ever. They don’t write comedies like that anymore. Thanks Alan can’t wait till your next one keep up the good work.👏👏👏👍

Another fantastic video, Thanks Alan.
I didn't realise that this pair didn't get on in real life.
Steptoe & Son was and still is a great comedy
Nice respectful video. Ive got his biography written by his daughter and the Steptoe boxset of every episode. Whilst it is a shame he was typecast as Harold, it is certainly also a big compliment. He was so perfect for the part people almost thought he really was the character. Ive wanted to pay my respects for a few years now. I should do it next time Im in Sussex in June.
I love episode with the water bed
I'm going to watch it tonight. Denise, I know the old chap punches it was his scissors
Simply the best
I’m on my holiday and still caught you another fantastic one x
Maureen, you must be dedicated if you watched while on holiday. Well done! I hope I didn't spoile it have a great time whenever you are Alan
Loved it.. thanks for sharing 👍
May father knew Ray Galton, he was quite a dower man. I knew his daughter and often had a drink with her.
Oh God yes the old man sitting in the sink! He used the dishmop to wash his bits if memory serves! As you say proper humour Alan the type that makes you roar laughing - love the channel mate x

Hi Kevin, we have to go back into the vaults of our mind collectively me and you and everyone else. It wasn't lovely service and then please that you enjoyed my little tribute to the actors on writers take out my friend Alan
Brilliant show, shame we can't have these on TV anymore!
Very enjoyable .😊
I'm binging on you ahah Thank you, D
Another great toungue in cheek comedy. 😊
Everybody seems to think I'm Harold that keeps saying you dirty old man.....
It was omo
I never realised they never got on, very interesting the way you tell it .
In actual fact, as is often the case. I did get this wrong because unfortunate the BBC put out a documentary and which led to a different reports but they got on much better than is often betrayed. They were quite close in reality I believe which is a nice and better ending. Thank you D
Another great one Alan ❤ I love how you tell your subscribers the history of these amazing people who were a big part of most peoples memories in better times gone by.. thank you!
That's exactly it Maria. It's a collective past I need some out bonds as all together in the nice way. Plus you can send our thoughts 🤔 today's People I love it and thank you for being so nice. Alan
A OTHER FANTASTIC VIDEO ALAN KEEP THEM COMING 👍.
I will now. You've told me to John. Thank you mate
Thank you, Great video x
Thank you for all your hard work and research. It was very interesting 🙂
Martin equal thank you ❤️
I remember the episode with Wilfred crimping the pastry with his teeth. I had mixed feelings about Steptoe & Son when I was younger, although I couldn't work out why. Now that I'm old, I realise that it was very bittersweet black comedy. The father and son locked together in mutual dependence and loathing. From your (as always, excellent) research, it seems the actors shared the same experience.
Elizabeth, what a lovely comments. It was very cleverly written and reflects quite often real life. They loved each other but poor Harold was restricted a very complicated relationship but beneath it all there was love as this often the case in real life. Thank you so much Alan!
Thank you another great video. My favourite episode is the episode called the long hours which starred another great of comedy Leonard Rossiter .
Hi Martyn I love that episode! The two convicts break into the house and end up feeling. Sorry for Harold and his father cuz they were so much better off in prison than they were in their house it was hilarious. Thank you Alan
Nice Tribute.I have seen a few "Steptoe and Son" episodes on You Tube. The American version "Sanford and Son" still airs in reruns.I notice that Mr.and Mrs.Corbett both died Young.Have ever visited the Grave of Steptoe star Wilfred Brambell? Thank You for another fine video.
such a simple graveyard and stone, very peaceful spot.

I'm very much like you. Sandra, I like to visit the old programs for lots of reasons and this is when I'm revisiting quite a bit at the moment on UA-cam. I did the same with on the buses recently. I like the simplicity and humour. Thank you for the great comment ☺️ Alan
What a lovely tribute your video is a pleasure to watch, like so many i loved steptoe and son great comedy also sad at the same time, shame that he still has family but looks like no-one visits, keep up your good work.
Great video allan I have worked in a cemetery for a life time and it's unbelievable how many people like the old look worn ect headstone
I guess you're right. I never really thought about it but you will have had a lot more time too. Look at the headstones. Thank you. Very interesting. All the best, Alan
Thanks Alan, Carry On Screaming is my favourite Carry On. I know his daughter’s face as an actress but hadn’t connected her as his daughter until you put that photo up.
But at least I've been useful Nick, you've learnt something but I've never seen carry on screaming. I'll try and give it a go thank you mate
Hi Alan, another great one. Like you, I loved them as a kid, still laugh at them if there’s ever a re run on telly 👍
Don't forget, you can watch them on UA-cam. Martin, I've been binging a bit since I did the film. Thank you mate
How strange i was watching Tales of the unexpected today with Harry H Corbett i loved it when his dad fell asleep in the coffin and woke up to the screams of the vicar ...when he was in the sink i think he had a bottle of vim that made it even funnier ...i think i will watch a few today on youtube cheers alan blinding video
Hello Daniel I don't remember the vim but I can imagine.... I think I ought to do a holiday cottage theme like steptoe and son. Do you think it'll be popular? Have a great weekend. Alan

Great comedy, my favourite too Alan. The scripts were excellent and the comedy was perfectly cast. Unfortunately I think both actors were victims of typecasting due to their portrayal of their characters being so convincing. Unusually the films were good too. Difficult to pick out a favourite episode. Thank you Alan for this lovely tribute. Safe travels.
Don't you think that's a wonderful place to be to be to be type cast images don't just like you said. Such a great job. Thank you Joy. I really appreciate you taking the time to think and write it's lovely to connect with you above the weekend. Alan
Alan! You are a absolute great. Love your dedication. Excuse the pun!! Keep going pal. Love ya ❤
I will keep going now. You've encouraged me. Paul 😉
Thank you Alan I can still watch this and it still makes me laugh cheers Alan 👍
Me too! Liam, I've just been on UA-cam watching a couple. All the best mate
I loved him….he was quite handsome..and as we say he “scrubbed up well!” It’s so sad he died so young……
Lovely peaceful church…Did he actually live somewhere in the village Alan do you know? Seems a lovely quiet place, after all the hustle and bustle of filming on set. By the way! I used to cut up newspaper and magazine squares and thread on string to hang on a nail in my Lancashire grandmas outside privy….it was a pine bench with two oval holes, one smaller for children (me!) and one larger for adults. Special sized buckets underneath each which were removed by opening wooden doors at the back. I can remember going plodding through the snow, desperate for a wee, and how cold and draughty it was perched on the throne…and always huge spiders sitting on the paper…yuk! Those were the days, but I agree, the shiny Sunday supplements were horrible to use! 😂🤣 remember the scene when his dad sat in the tin bath eating pickled onions, which he dropped into the water, yet fished them out and ate….that’s when I remember Harold looking at him in disgust and saying that famous line “ you dutty old man!!” . So sad we have lost that class of good actors, not to mention the damn good writers back then…we had some great writers for dads army, ain’t half hot mum etc. thanks Alan for a cracking walk down memory lane. What a shame his grave isn’t tended better…he deserves that at least. A professional clean, some snowdrop bulbs for spring would make so much difference, but as regards the stone the permission of his children is needed. Hope the see watching this, how much their father is still much loved and we would so appreciate the stone being cleaner and more legible….please?
Thanks so much for the wonderful memories you have brought to the fore Alan..really enjoyed.
Ps you always worry me, just getting out of your van and not closing the door….opportunists are always around even if you “think” it’s safe, so do be careful. Warmest wishes 🙋♀️🥰🥰👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🦉😻🦋🦋🦋🦋
Helen, I'll come back and read all that. It looks interesting but I'm on the run so I'll be back to you soon.. see you, Alan
Hello Helen, I've read it now. It was great. They used to say there with a good old days but they weren't. Were they really when you had to use the outside toilet I can imagine in winter it must have been terrible. Not to mention cold. I can remember in my 30s I bought three flats to do up and the guy said to me are you going to make them ensuite bathrooms and I didn't know what he meant :-) everybody now when they buy a property is going about the number of bathrooms. How things have changed?. I don't know that people are always happier though because if you expect more your more easily disappointed. It's all down to expectations. People used to be very happy with little things. Children were happy with less toys so I think it's more of a mental state. But I will never give up my internet central eating and double glazing once you've had it, you never want to go without it. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and thank you for the fantastic reply. Regards, Alan
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep Hello Alan, that was a nice reply, Thankyou…those days i mentioned were as my grandma’s in Lancashire…and yes! That’s how she lived, and not knowing any different, just accepted it! When my mother married my father, he put a back boiler in her fireplace for her, as up to then, it was boil the kettle for everything. My dad built a bungalow for himself and mum…it took him four years, as just after the war there were shortages of building materials…eveyone wanted it to rebuild where they had been bombed. My parent’s married in 1950, and I honestly didn’t realise how lucky I was, to live in a bungalow with inside toilet and flush, a bath with hot water. I wrongly assumed everyone had it! My new husband ( remarried in June this year aged 70! Lol) says he lived in a council house and the toilet was in an outhouse. Flushed but still cold! No central heating back then, ( I was born in 52) and can remember the beautiful ice patterns that used to form on the INSIDE of my bedroom window!
Washing day, using a copper boiler and “possing” clothes before they went through a wringer into a big sink for rinsing, and if they were whites, we had those little Dolly blue bags…made whites look bluey white, and cleaner somehow. Back through the wringer minding not to trap your fingers, then out on the line! No spinners or tumble driers! Xmas time mum made Xmas puddings, we all had a stir and made a wish, and she would wrap a silver 3d in greaseproof paper and drop in the mix…plenty of paper so whoever found it wouldn’t choke. Then the pudding bowls covered with greaseproof, tied with string were balanced un the copper, with so much water just coming up the side, then boiled for nine hours! NINE! This was done in the wash house as the steam! Well…we coukd have opened Turkish baths! I remember going to school and they were steaming and still were when I came back! My mum
Always did five. Two for us -Xmas and New Year’s Day…two went away for the following year, and one to another elderly couple in the village ( my mum was District nurse and midwife so knew who was struggling to make ends meet). So that’s given you food for thought Alan! Lol….with all good wishes! Helen 🙋♀️🥰😻🚐beep beep! X

Alan when I think of steptoe and son reminds of the rag and bone with horse and cart which went round the streets I was about 5
Hi Hance I can remember them. They used to show any old iron but it all got mumbled up because they said it so many times. Wow! What tough times.
I loved steptoe and son, hilarious especially the funeral scene with the family rushing back to the house for the will reading. I was in North Yorkshire last week on holiday primrose Valley Haven, went to Filey, Scarborough, Whitby and Bridlington. Amazing time 😊

There is somthing about common comady like steotoe and son, Only fools and horses and the Carry, ons. I think we can all realate to how it was back then and they where there when growing up. Even today I can sit and laugh but my 2 kids both early 20s dont get it. Thank you for doing these videos. I always see the genuineness and the emotions you show. We kind of get attached to them as if they where part of the family but thats kindof how it was groing up watching these with parents and loved ones. Thank you and thanks everyone thats shaped and have been part of shaping our lives and entertaining us in out sadest hours. Thank you and god bless🙏
