I'm so thankful I came across your videos Kathy! I just retired from 50 years as a short order cook and received an air fryer for Christmas. It will be fun to experiment with all the different foods and techniques. You are a 'hoot' to watch (that's something us old folks say..it's a compliment 😉) and a great teacher!! AF on!!
I just have to say you are the best air fryer-review person on whole internet. I just found you short time ago because I was thinking to buy myself first air fryer (I'm still super scared of it especially now that you even said it with smoke/ fire alarm going off T_T) but the way you present it is perfection, it's authentic and you talk of experience, easy to understand and to remember, also with the free pdf and all it's really encouraging to experience cooking in a whole new way!
I highly recommend getting a Cosori air fryer. Either the regular 5.8 quart (upper heating element only) or the dual blaze (upper and lower heating elements). It’s a great little machine. 👍👍
I have no idea why this showed up in my feed, but I am so glad it did! This is EXACTLY why this mom of 6 never got an air fryer! Thank you soooo much! I will get after Thanksgiving. This was so helpful!
So glad I always check out customer reviews and satisfaction when ordering from Amazon. I got the Corsori and we are so happy with it. We are retired grandparents and my husband does all of our cooking due to my disability. I'm loving your vlogs so I can share them with him and get ideas of how to use it for more than frozen foods. Your family is lovely! Thanks for your 🍳😊
Had my air fryer a month now and it hasn't met electricity yet so will keep learning with you to get the confidence to start as I'm not the best of cooks lol
I received my Airfryer yesterday and found your site. I watched all the videos on how to use it and what to cook. The first thing I did was cook sweet potato fries. I watched your video and they turned out delicious. Thank you for your information. Keep up the excellent work. I bought the Cosori 5.5lt Airfryer from Amazon, which is the one you use.
I'm a new bachelor and I'm new to cooking in the kitchen, especially with an air fryer. Excellent video! Thanks so much for the great info! I'll be watching more of your videos. Eric👍
Kathy, Your recommendations are spot on! I donated the mini-Breville toaster-oven style AF to charity and purchased the Cosori Pro II. The transition was easy. The new AF is very fast as compared to the Breville. I find that frozen food, I’d normally heat up in the microwave, tastes better when warmed up in the air fryer.
Again, Cathy, you’ve knocked it out of the park!!! I watched this as an “old” Cosori user and an avid Cathy-ite!!! just because I look forward to your Saturday morning videos…each time you remind me of something I’ve forgotten in my Cosori usage and today was how to convert an oven recipe to an AF recipe…so thanks again and 🥰 love to you and your family!
I've bought the Cosori Turbo Blaze 6 Litre. The airfryer stank enormously at first. I followed all your tips. The only thing that really helped was cooking food in it. After that, the bad smell was gone. Lovely greetings from Germany, Yv. 😘
Cathy you are awesome! I got an air fryer found you and I was so exited and followed you. Loved the ease of making meals. No splatter on my cooktop! I followed your directions for making steaks, best ever. Then my daughter informed me of the dangers of the Teflon coating. Even though I know to not scratch it, and use silicone utensils. She said they have ceramic air fryers, which are safe. I would love your opinion? Could you perhaps do a review of ceramic air fryer pros & cons? Thank you for all your wonderful cooking inspirations. 👩🍳👍😋
Kathy I just found your channel! I just got my air fryer. I did research before I purchased it. I came across your channel and have watch several of your videos. I watched the 4 best air fryers for 2023 that you like. The Instant Vortex Plus 6 Qt. is the one I got! Love your channel. I already ordered your cookbook, cheat sheet, and a number of items from Amazon. Thanks! Great information.
I have the dual blaze air fryer, love it, I cook bacon in it, without the tray, leaves very little bacon grease, then I crack a couple of eggs and cook them in the little bacon grease. Yum!
I've owned the Cosori model shown in the video for several years and love it! I joined the Empowered Cooks course as soon as it came out, have the tips and tricks downloads and Cathy's cookbook is tagged with post-its for my favorites. 😉 As someone who's moving to a more plant based diet, I wish there were more recipes.
I started watching your videos and they are very helpful. I bought a Mainstays air fryer to "get my feet wet" but transitioned to a Cosori Pro LE 5QT. I love it and the versatility of it. Thanks for the tips and easy recipies.
I'm super grateful for your channel. I am expecting my air fryer to arrive in 2 days and I have been researching everything I need to know beforehand. Your channel is phenomenal. 🙏
Thank You! I bought a 14qt air fryer at a black Friday sale and had no idea how to use it properly. So many questions. I found your channel 1st UA-cam search and you hooked my husband and I. We are now ready to get air frying!
Thank you so very much for this video! I bought my first air fryer last night and am going to take your advice and cook french fries and then going to try bratwurst too. It’s a very yummy, EASY dinner. Thanks for the unboxing and precooking directions. Thanks again for this video and have a happy day today! 😊
I'm loving your video! I recently got this exact unit so you're showing me some new tricks. I'm on about my 4th air fryer. I got rid of my oven and stove a couple of years ago and I'm 99% air fryer, occasional crock pot, and one hot plate burner for when I want to cook something in my cast iron skirt.
You are so good at this! Upgrading my air fryer now that I know how much more it can do than I ever thought. On the oil, I use a non-aerosol avocado spray that only has avocado oil and nothing else. I tried one of the misters once, and maybe it was the brand, but it didn't work well. And I felt like I should wash it whenever the oil ran out, including the tube. I just never felt I got it clean enough.
I just ordered a cosori from Walmart. I had just bought a 2 quart one last week and decided I wanted one just a little bigger. I have a bigger one that is the oven type but it’s too large. You are really get.
Um, where have you been all my life? You are so easy to listen to and I love that you talk fast! I'll defo be tuning in for more tips for using my new air fryer.
Thanks to you I bought a Cosori dual fryer, use it every day, and cook steak, filet mignion, wow awsome I don't cook my steaks on BBQ anymore. thanks again and keep the videos coming...and yes I bought your Recipes book love it
My sister just sent me the me the exact same cosori air fryer you are demonstrating on. Just came upon your channel this very day. So happy. You explain things so well, cant wait to get started 😊
My wife and I are old Boomers. I love to use a griddle outdoors, but indoor ovens are a pain. did a ton of research before buying first airfryer and only wanted a "training wheel" size,,,Chose the Cosory 2.1 tiny one. Love It! quiet, efficient, just too small for cooking for guests.....My next one, either the one you are using or the Cosori Lite 3.8 ! Thank you!
I literally just cleaned my dual ninja airfryer. It just had some residue from water drying so I just rewashed it 😊. I love using my air fryer. I can't wait to get your cookbook from Amazon on Monday I'm so excited 😊.
I just got my first air fryer yesterday afternoon, an 8L Instant Vortex Plus. I used it last night to reheat some shawarmas (they're like gyros.) I'm looking forward to actually cooking with it but that will have to wait until I can go grocery shopping this weekend.
I just remembered about online shopping and delivery so I got some simple things, frozen fries, chicken nuggets and sausages, to start out with, along with a bunch of other things I needed.. Same price as in supermarkets plus I got free delivery vs. having to pay taxi fare both ways. Later on I'll delve into roasted veggies and meats. Meanwhile I can actually air fry something for dinner.
I just ordered an air fryer. I have been watching your videos and bought the pro II Cosori. I noticed you mentioned your 'cook' chart in one of your videos and I was wondering where I can get that. Thank you very much!
Wow thank you for this video. I don't have an Air Fryer. YET!! 👍🏼 But I have been thinking and looking into them. I'm now going to watch your video on recommendations. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
When it comes to bacon, I either put a parchment(not the one with holes but the one with the sides that go up the edge of the air fryer a bit) in the basket of the Cosori or at the bottom of the Cosori to catch all the grease. When it’s done, you can either leave it till it firms up again and then dispose of it, or you can carefully pick up the parchment and dump the grease into your tin can or whatever you use to collect used grease. I have the same Cosori as Cathy in this video. Not sure if this hack would work in a dual blaze.
Thanks for the tip! I tried that in the dual blaze and the grease still got everywhere. The parchment paper seemed to thin and maybe I didn't place it good. I've also done it with putting foil at the very bottom.
I love, love my Cosori!!! And the same thing goes with parchment with the sides…I’m a lazy cook and the parchment saves most of the cleanup when it’s used…just a hint, once it cools down just wad up a layer of paper towel and allow it to soak up most of the grease which also allows you to then pick up the parchment to dispose of it…(I’m 78 so look the other way if you want but I save my bacon grease for future yummy uses!🫣)
Hi Cathy, I just received my Cosor TurboBlaze Air Fryer and can't wait to use it on the regular. Thanks a bunch for all the videos you've put out showing how to utilize this fantastic kitchen gadget and great "Hacks" as well. It took me a while before investing in an air fryer because at first they seemed somewhat intimidating. I owe it all to you with the help of your cheat sheets. I'll use my air fryer with confidence. I've been watching your videos for a long while and feel confident I'll make good use out of my Cosori TB Air Fryer. You've EMPOWERED me.😂❤ Sarah 🇨🇦
Whew ! Thanks so much for taking the OMG out of someone entering the New World of Air Frying. I'm a lazy cook (do NOT tell me you are lazy with 8 kids...I was a houseparent for 8 many years ago and, while loving/caring for them, I was never allowed to be lazy !) You've demystified a lot but for the first time I made my son walk me through the steps written on the Instruction Sheet....so many "don'ts"... Wish I'd watched a bunch of your videos beforehand. anyway, all is well and I think I'll be ok with using it. Love your personality as well !
I just joined your channel since I finally broke down and bought a small air fryer to test out. Thanks for the tips and cooking temp guide! Why don't you recommend putting the fryer on the stove top? I have such limited counter space. I've used a Foreman grill that way numerous times with no problem.
Great advice and presentation, thank you! Was so excited to order and receive my new air fryer…months ago!, Haven’t even used it yet😂. Now feel so much ready to do so…but on to your next video first. 😊thanks again.
What a great tip on the fatty food, I have been avoiding that for bacon and beef burgers (which even in a pan) there is lots of fat. So I had avoided these in the Air Fryer.
I like to collect the grease once it is cooled (but not solid yet) into a jar or bowl to keep in the fridge. Then I use it to sauté vegetables or other things when making pasta sauces etc. It adds flavour and reuses the leftover fat in other recipes.
I’ve been Rockin and rolling w mine since rt after getting my Gourmia a year ago at Costco. I’d def recommend getting the thin 100 pack of bowl sheets at removes any need for post fry cleanup
Cathy …in March of 2020 I saw your video about Airfryers on You Tube and decided I needed one. I wasn’t quite 80 at the time but Went ahead and ordered one. I got the dial model (since recalled) so I have a replacement. The next fall I went to Florida for 4 months and missed an Airfryer so much I bought the Cosori 5 qt and love it. It’s perfect for my needs. I use it almost every day. I have followed your instructions for basics and also look up recipes online. Thanks for all your efforts.
Hi, I saw a link about your 6 month subscription cooking classes. Can you do a video on that service? I would love to check it out. I was curious the times you offered the classes live. Thanks
I'm a single person so I dont cook as many fries, I find for the thin french fries I takes me 7mins at 200c If I'm cooking chips, a thicker version of fries we have in the UK it takes 3mins longer. Although zi've had my frier a ehile I haven't bern very adventurous with it so I'm still learning.
they store the product, so to prevent corrosion they coat the insides in a machine oil. so it best to burn that off before you use it with food. it can smell bad to bloody horrble so keep some windows open but it should not last, if it does send it back.i did that with my COSORI it took 2 cycles then i put the trays on a large windowsill outside and its been perfect ever since. i learned a lot from watching your chanell and good luck with the book, we need more info on how to use air fryers for more than chips and wings.
Glad I so happened to find your channel here. I subscribed right away and even purchased the same Cosori air fryer you suggested. Should be here tomorrow and can't wait to start cooking some great recipes. Thanks for all the great info and recipes!
never use one before it come today and your video come up i was just looking at the air fryer not knowing or shore how to use it so thanks for the vid wish me luck🤣 thank you👍
Hey Kathy, chicken breasts in the air fryer are life-changing! My question is this: what's the best way to reheat a chicken breast so it stays nice and moist? Is the air fryer the best way? If so, how would you do it? Or is another method better? (I don't have a microwave)
Thank you so much!!!! This is a great video. I have problems with highlighting and shadow a lot. I can pick and an area and make it right but when I start painting on the things around it omg… I make a mess I loose like the orientation of where my source of light is coming from. Do it make sense? Do you have a tip. I get frustrated because I can understand the video but when am coloring I just het all confused. Thank you
@empoweredcooks The 8 quart because I can cook more stuff. I use the grill for the burgers & steak because it's easier when comes to getting rid of the grease.
Just a note about the internal cooking temperature. Do you realize that the temperature keeps going up once the chicken is done? When you let it rest, the temperature inside will increase. So if you cook it at the temperature you want your chicken wont be as juicy and will be overcooked. Let it rest five minutes and watch that thermometer temperature go up.
for chicken/meat, I'd suggest trying to make sure you hit the recommended temperature, cause that should be the point where the harmful bacteria die. I believe it doesn't matter too much how quickly you get there, but you want to hit that temp at some point for health reasons (so I hear, I'm a newbie at cooking)
Thank you for your teaching . I too am nervous using the air fryer. But, as I felt the same when I first used the insta, I’m sure it will be better after a few uses. Would it help if I placed the food I want cooked, on a sheet of parchment paper? Blessings from Houston, TX
Hello! You got this my friend! You can use parchment paper, yes. Just make sure your food holds it all the way down. You might enjoy my slower paced Air Fryer Course... you can find it at empoweredcooks.com/air-fryers-unleashed
Cathy, I am totally averse to cooking with any non-stick/ Teflon coatings (toxic chemicals get into the body and the environment). Do you have any videos of stainless steel air fryers / toaster ovens? And, any comments about your experience with them? Thanks!
Thank you for thinking of us, foreigners, who use Celcius instead of Farenheit :) I've checked for many videos to jelp me make my choice on my first airfryer, and I think that - even if not in my mother tongue - your videos are way much better than what I have found so far. Many thanks, I will watch them all ! I would have loved subtitles so I could understand better, but you are understandable enough for me to get 80% of what you say. See, you are a WORDLWILD airfryer Queen !! Cheers from France
In the video, around minute 10:10, you suggest increasing the temperature from the preset 350°F to 400°F when cooking fries. While higher temperatures can speed up the cooking process and make food crispier, there is a potential downside to going above 356°F (180°C), especially for starchy foods like fries. At higher temperatures, particularly above 356°F (180°C), a chemical reaction occurs between the sugars and amino acids in the potatoes (or other starchy foods) that can lead to the formation of acrylamide, a potentially harmful compound. This reaction is not caused by the oil breaking down but rather by the high heat interacting with the starch in the food. Instead of pushing the temperature to 400°F, a good alternative would be to keep it at or below 355°F and extend the cooking time slightly. This way, you still get perfectly crispy fries without the health risks associated with acrylamide. It’s a small tweak that can make a difference in both safety and quality.
Without you our air fryer would still be in the box. Keep up the good work. Love how you bring your family into the video’s. You have a perfect life can we move in? 😊
The only problem I would have is with things like bacon. It's a great idea to put the bread in the bottom to soak up the grease, unless you want to keep that grease. I have used bacon grease quite a few times to cook with. It gives the food a really good bacon flavour but not overwhelming. I love using it in biscuits, yumm. There are a few times when you want to save the drippings from different meats.
Kathy, I understand that you don’t use oven-style air fryers, but I was wondering if you could help me adapt your recipes for this type of appliance. I don’t have a basket-style air fryer at the moment. Is there a way to modify them for oven-style air fryers?”
Hey. My Mom just got a “Sue La Table” model from CostCo. Have you reviewed that one? Is there a difference between air fryers that have doors which open like a conventional oven but still have a basket and the ones with a basket that slots in?
I have an oven style AF as well. I have rarely used the basket because the small pans from my toaster oven fit on the shelves of the AF. Other than that I air fry everything as if it a typical basket AF. Hope this helps.
Yep! Pat is right... the biggest difference will be how use put the food in and out. After using it for a bit and testing recipes (like mine) :) You will have an idea of what time modifications you need to make.
I eodsh I had seen these videos before I bought my air fryer. Although I live alone, the model I bought really isn;y big enough for a loy of things. I have the Ninja dual zone AF 300UK. It is very good for most things but not for cakes as I can only bake small cakes in it.
The conversion between F and C is not perfect, om my older (2018) Cosori it go up in 5 degree (Celsius) steps, so the max temperature is 400 F in America and 205 C in Europe, so 380 F can not be set on some European air fryers so you have to go down to 190 C and then just add some extra minute if needed, or go up to 195 C and maybe cut down some minute. But I can guarantee that the things you see hare is great and that the food get yummy and I often round down on the temperature and add some extra time. Great show, great food and great personality.
I'm so thankful I came across your videos Kathy! I just retired from 50 years as a short order cook and received an air fryer for Christmas. I've been watching your videos for a long while and feel confident I'll make good use out of my Cosori TB Air Fryer. You've EMPOWERED me.😂❤ Sarah 🇨🇦
Very useful information. Why change all the times/temps though? If the instructions on the packs are wrong then what is going on? Thanks.
May 2024, Just went to Amazon and bought this Airfryer based on this video ! also subscribed to your channel so you can teach me how to use it !
Haven't checked in with the Queen for a while 😂 Thank You for getting me started with mine! So many dishes are tastier and hugely easy
Thanku I’m a novice your extremely helpful I’m following you now.x
Great advice and presentation, thank you! Was so excited to order and receive my new air fryer…months ago!, Haven’t even used it yet😂. Now feel so much ready to do so…but on to your next video first. 😊thanks again.
What a great tip on the fatty food, I have been avoiding that for bacon and beef burgers (which even in a pan) there is lots of fat. So I had avoided these in the Air Fryer.
You will love bacon!!
YES those help a lot! I talk about them in this video! ua-cam.com/video/pebswEvXsgQ/v-deo.html
FWIW, America’s Test Kitchen recommends the Instant Vortex Plus 6qt XL.
Thank you! I will be trying to find the free chart. I am watching loads of your videos
Great introduction video. I’ve had mine for a while so I’m motivated to use it thanks to you! Greetings from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, 🇨🇦!!
Glad it was helpful!
I am so glad to hear that!
Thanks hun got a chef man multifunctional air fryer. Its an oven type one so this helps
I'm thinking of getting an air fryer, but to the uninitiated it is a minefield out there. Your videos are a good starting point, I'm learning.
Hi, I saw a link about your 6 month subscription cooking classes. Can you do a video on that service? I would love to check it out. I was curious the times you offered the classes live. Thanks
I'm a single person so I dont cook as many fries, I find for the thin french fries I takes me 7mins at 200c
If I'm cooking chips, a thicker version of fries we have in the UK it takes 3mins longer.
Although zi've had my frier a ehile I haven't bern very adventurous with it so I'm still learning.
Дуже дякую за контент)
купив собі аерогриль і виявилось що готувати просто, а також фантастично смачно.
А ваші підказки дуже допомогають)
I have a 4 or 5 year old Ninja Foodie. I have learned lots here, but since I do not have a shake reminded on my machine, I just use my kitchen timer.
That works!
Super helpful video! I'm much more comfortable using my AF.
Yay! Glad to hear it!
they store the product, so to prevent corrosion they coat the insides in a machine oil.
so it best to burn that off before you use it with food.
it can smell bad to bloody horrble so keep some windows open but it should not last, if it does send it back.i did that with my COSORI it took 2 cycles then i put the trays on a large windowsill outside and its been perfect ever since.
i learned a lot from watching your chanell and good luck with the book, we need more info on how to use air fryers for more than chips and wings.
I love my Cosori Pro ll because it has the presets and I don't have to try to remember all the different temps for food
I just received the Ninja Megazone for my birthday. Excited to have one again.
Glad I so happened to find your channel here. I subscribed right away and even purchased the same Cosori air fryer you suggested. Should be here tomorrow and can't wait to start cooking some great recipes. Thanks for all the great info and recipes!
never use one before it come today and your video come up i was just looking at the air fryer not knowing or shore how to use it so thanks for the vid wish me luck🤣 thank you👍
Great tips , thanks Kathy.
Have a fabulous day. Sherry 😊
You are so welcome!
Hey Kathy, chicken breasts in the air fryer are life-changing! My question is this: what's the best way to reheat a chicken breast so it stays nice and moist? Is the air fryer the best way? If so, how would you do it? Or is another method better? (I don't have a microwave)
See if this helps! fabulesslyfrugal.com/recipes/air-fryer-leftovers/
Thank you! And sorry I spelled your name wrong. We Catherines /Cathys are very particular about the spelling of our names!
@@CatherineKayeyyc ha ha! I am used to being Cathy with a K. :) But YES... it's always fun to find another Cathy or Catherine with a C! ❤
Thank you
What about tips for a combination microwave, convection, air fryer oven.
Fantastic video! You are THE best at explaining everything. 💜
I have 8 quart air fryer, a 4 quart air fryer & also a smokeless grill. All from Power XL.
Which one do you find you use the most?
@empoweredcooks The 8 quart because I can cook more stuff. I use the grill for the burgers & steak because it's easier when comes to getting rid of the grease.
I think I’ve never-ever seen so amazing UA-cam video 😅
I’ll grab my VISA and run to shop right now 😂
Just a note about the internal cooking temperature. Do you realize that the temperature keeps going up once the chicken is done? When you let it rest, the temperature inside will increase. So if you cook it at the temperature you want your chicken wont be as juicy and will be overcooked. Let it rest five minutes and watch that thermometer temperature go up.
My dad replaced his microwave with an air fryer and I am SO LOST. Thanks for the lifeline lol.
for chicken/meat, I'd suggest trying to make sure you hit the recommended temperature, cause that should be the point where the harmful bacteria die.
Great video! What type of nonstick coating does the Cosori have? Would be interested in air fryers with ceramic coating.
Cosori is not ceramic. The Paula Deen is ceramic coated though!
ua-cam.com/video/wv-V0xo0O44/v-deo.html
Cathy, I am totally averse to cooking with any non-stick/ Teflon coatings (toxic chemicals get into the body and the environment). Do you have any videos of stainless steel air fryers / toaster ovens? And, any comments about your experience with them? Thanks!
Thank you very much for this video. Very good jump start
Great vid. What oil sprayer and instant temp thermometer do you use and recommend please?👍
Hello! I have them here! amzn.to/46VJlnB
Thank you for thinking of us, foreigners, who use Celcius instead of Farenheit :)
I've checked for many videos to jelp me make my choice on my first airfryer, and I think that - even if not in my mother tongue - your videos are way much better than what I have found so far. Many thanks, I will watch them all !
I would have loved subtitles so I could understand better, but you are understandable enough for me to get 80% of what you say.
See, you are a WORDLWILD airfryer Queen !!
Cheers from France
What is your favorite air fryer at the moment. I’m looking for one and am considering a ninja combo.
💕QUESTION💕: is it okay to put parchment paper under the grill to catch the grease, let it cook and harden, and then toss it out?
You're the air fryer queen and I'm the microwave king.😁
For French fries I hit the fry button and adjust the time and temperature so I get the shake reminder.
Great video :) You covered everything from new - experienced. :)
Glad it was helpful!
Without you our air fryer would still be in the box. Keep up the good work. Love how you bring your family into the video’s. You have a perfect life can we move in? 😊
Ha ha ha!!! It's FAR from perfect!!!
I’m making acorn squash in my Cosori today using your instructions
Oh YUMMY! You'll love it!
made my first frozen chips ! thankyou.
I am very new to cooking with my new air fryer. But have you ever tried the Walmart Mainstay 2.2. size. Can you give me some ideas for cooking with it
Kathy, I understand that you don’t use oven-style air fryers, but I was wondering if you could help me adapt your recipes for this type of appliance. I don’t have a basket-style air fryer at the moment. Is there a way to modify them for oven-style air fryers?”
I joined the cult, a willing participant. Best thing I ever bought, saves on my leccy bill, easy to use, cook and clean and does some badass chicken.
Could you share us your thoughts on the aluminum parts of cosori air fryer?
@cathy can you do the review for new cosori turbo blaze air fryer.
Love the videos…but what is up with the different languages at the beginning??
Great video. Thank you for all the tips and information.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the helpful tip!
Fantastic video, I am learning so much. Thank you.
