You completely changed my use of an air fryer.... Several years ago I bought a football shaped with fine-wire basket. It's smoked and the basket was a nightmare to wash. I quickly sold it. About a year ago I ran into your videos and was inspired to try again after getting a basket style air fryer that you tested on your channel. With your guidance it has become an indispensable part of my kitchen. Thanks Cathy and thanks for today's video which was full of great tips as usual.

About 6 months ago, I had a brand, new Air Fryer sitting in the box, waiting to be used. A friend told me about your UA-cam channel, and watching your videos gave me the courage to try it out.
My family now loves using the Air Fryer, and I've watched many of your episodes for more ideas. At Christmas, I bought your Air Fryer Recipes cookbook. It is amazing!
The layout on your pages are easy-to-read, and I'm so excited about how many great recipes you've packed inside your cookbook.
Thank you so much for all you have done to help me and others learn to use our Air Fryers!

A additional tip to tip 8... I personally never use parchment paper because I purchased two small Pyrex glass dishes (one is small an oval shaped dish, the other is a bit bigger and square and fits my square shaped basket with a few cm around for circulation)

I have been balking at buying an air fryer and decided to watch a lot of air fryer videos to see if it was really what I wanted. Your videos have changed my opinion and I am finally going shopping this morning to buy one and prepare my work weeks meals to avoid oven usuage. I always feel like it is a waste to use oven for one person. HUGE THANKS!

Thank you so much for your videos. I just bought the Cosori TurboBlaze and I previously purchased your cook times magnetic sheets. They don't mention which setting to cook the food at, but I'm thinking you just use the air fry mode on the machine. As you know there are four turbo modes (air fry, roast, broil, and frozen). Do I need to worry with using them and just have it on air fry option? I did bake some canned biscuits on the bake function this morning and they turned out great. I am addicted to watching your videos and just hope I can get good use our of this thing. Thanks so much for all the work you put into this.

GOOD VIDEO. I had a cosori airfryer and i mistakenly sprayed PAM on it during the pre-heat phase when i didn't need to and it ultimately caused the insides of the grill plate and basket to detrioate! moving forward i will either put only avocado oil or nothing on it whiile pre-heating.

Is the non-stick material on the air fryer basket safe or the same stuff on frying pans we are told not to use - especially at high heat?

    • @empoweredcooks

It is teflon coated, yes. But it is safe as long as you don't exceed 500F according to this healthline article: www.healthline.com/nutrition/nonstick-cookware-safety#:~:text=Health%20agencies%20have%20raised%20concerns,F%20(260%C2%B0C).

Thanks so much for your very helpful videos. So, I am considering purchasing a 4 quart Cosori air fryer. I assume this would be great for one person. Also, does your cook book cater to recipes for one person? Oh, yes...I see in some of your videos you use a metal trivet to cover some foods, especially if you're cooking with parchment paper. What size trivet would I need with a Cosori 4 quart air fryer? Thanks

Other cooking authors should take your cue and provide their cookbooks with spiral binding. So frustrating opening up a book that won’t lay flat. For the cookbooks I have with regular binding, I use two giant clips to hold the book open. Great job.

Would you have any suggestions on how to clean the "inside" of the air fryer? I know the pullout tray can be cleaned, however, I'm referring to the inside of the fryer, for example, the walls and the top part (where the fan or whatever that's called is located). Meats and anything else with fat splatters inside the fryer and it drives me insane. Any tips are greatly appreciated. Thank you. 😊😊😊

we have nothing like dawn powerwash in our country only usual dishwashing liquid. I usually put hot water in until its filled halfwise with dishwashing liquid wait 20 minutes or so and then rinse it in bathtub (because it wont fit in my kitchen sink...)
for the temperature and time I am a bit skittish. I put everything inside at 180 or 190 and check every 5 minutes and stir things around...xD.....
didn't get how to re-toast/bake frozen buns tho. (we have different kind than american ones) . I thought if i chuck the frozen ones in at 180 for 5 minutes they are done , they really looked done. the outside was golden and crunchy...and the inside was a massive ball of ice xD

i think most people stop using their air fryers because the recipe book only has complicated recipes. I want to cook simple foods that I like.
I noticed that four roast potatoes and four chicken thighs cook at the same time and temperature on the chart, so I put in two stabbed potatoes and two chicken thighs with garlic and pepper seasoning. It made a perfect dinner and a paper towel cleaned out the grease once it was cooled.
I don't preheat, just reduce the time a bit, and I don't turn. I just want a quick meal for one old man.

I listened to this last night ass my smoke alarm was going off. I thought it was clean. I regularly clean my silicone basket, the nonstick basket & the grill plate as well as the inside & outsideof rhe oven itself. I also use minimal oil. I just missed the bottom of the grill plate! I'd wiped it off with a Dawn laden baby wipe with & it always looked clean. I thought I was doing it all right as I read the most important part of airfyer ownership was keeping it clean. That was the purpose of always using the silicone basket. Idk how the bottom of the grill plate got dirty but the crevasses collected nearly invisible lines of crud. I can't believe I forgot to do something as simple as turning over the grill plate & that it caused that issue was probably why my alarm went off all week. Tip: CAREFULLY clean & inspect even part. Especially when you're cooking fatty foods like steak.

Just watch her videos and take notes on things you’d like to make. I have a list of times and temps of frequently used recipes!

Great video. I think the fries should've been cooked in the rotisserie cage.

Avocado oil is so high in calories and fat - I will stick with a short spray of PAM. I do agree that oil is usually not needed in air fryer.

I got an air fryer for Christmas and I'm considering taking it back since of the danger of acrylamide. I'm surprised this isn't included in these videos but this seems to be the dirty little secret with air fryers - they lower the fat but cause cancer causing substances in starchy food due to the high temperates. I'll take low and slow in the over and avoid the cancer risk.

How's an air fryer different from a regular oven? If that's your concern you might not use an oven at all. Starchy food is supposed to be cooked on lower heat, there's a threshold which shouldn't be crossed. Speaking of starchy food, it's possible to reduce the starch in food as potatoes by keeping them in water after peeling and cutting and drying them up with a kitchen towel prior to cooking. That's how it's done and don't exceed 350 fahrenheit or 175° Celsius and you're good.

31st March 2022 shows that it is reduced by 75-90%. Frying food causes more than using the air fryer. I politely suggest you do more research as when I read your comment it did panic me slightly.

I live with my elderly parents in a small house...1200 sq. ft. and there is just no room for one. My parents will not give up their microwave or toaster oven, both of which sit on the counters. And I dare not try to use one in my bedroom. So it will have to wait until or if I ever get my own place again. 😟😟

Replace the toaster oven with a toaster oven/air fryer combo. They’ll never know.

Have you ever used a silicone "bowl" inside your Air fryer. That way you only clean the silicone bowl. It's similar to the parchment paper bowls you use.
