Custom Camper Van - Improvements After One Year of Use - 4

- After a year from the build we decided to bring our van to the new level and to do refit. It was our first experience with the camper vans over year ago so during our build we were basically guessing what we would need and how we would use the van.
Now we know precisely and we embodied some modification and new ideas to make our stay more comfortable and practical.
The biggest and most notable modifications during our refit were sofa, safety and water system modifications.
More comfortable and larger lounge area will definitely increase quality of sleep for Andriy and will be great place to chill out (Maksym already tested and confirmed it). Safety: now we can lock all the doors manually by using quite simple but very functional tools - pins. So now we can have peace of mind while hiking or exploring new places
New water tank helped us to increase water capacity in the van and emptied some space for new fridge and drawers.
We did a lot of minor upgrades that are making big difference for staying onboard as well. Just to mention a few: rain protection cover, 12v phone chargers, garbage bin.
We also checked situation with mold in the van by opening one of the ceiling panels. If you are curious about result, go to the dedicated section.

ahahha, Italian here. This is the first video I've seen of a full van convertion on youtube. I've never searched in detail. One day in the next few years I'd like to try and make one too. Your video really raises awarness on all the stuff that needs and could be done and the real labour that it needs, but the fact that it's improving over time and you can show it, gets everyone SO PUMPed UP!! I love watching your thought processes behind design and especially reflecting on mistakes you've made and what would be more practical next time. Also your relationship reminds me so much of me and my brother, I'm 29 he's 24 but we travelled usa together and lived out of each others pockets but it was the best trip feel pretty lucky to have my brother also my best mate! I'm going to buy a van in the next couple of years ago will definitely keep watching your vids and getting ideas (as well as having a chuckle at your jokes!)

Found this today and think you have done a outstanding job with creating your ride! Many moons ago I was in 1st grade (although while in Florence I was in 4th grade, we are talking the mid 60s here) for language reason. We, my family of 5, traveled from Indiana to California back to Indiana, did some improvements,drove it to New York boarded the Queen Mary and headed to Europe. Left with me for decades are the great memories of this trip and am thinking strongly about doing this again...Thanks much for the inspiration and so happy I stumbled on this.

Thanks guys....in upholstery ..."Dacron" is used between fabric and foam to help hide imperfections and make edges look smooth once upholstered....it's cheap...sold at fabric stores

I saw one girl who installed a rock climbers hangboard where your pull-up bar is. It was pretty cool. You guys could make one!
We were looking for it but couldn’t find anything decent for reasonable price. I guess if we pop up one day on it, we will probably swap!

Hi Guys, you have done some great modifications here, with real class. If you give up van travelling you guys would do very well in the entertainment industry. Thieves often break a window as it's easier than picking modern car locks - maybe fit a loud alarm to scare them off. Keep safe and smiling and thanks a Lot.

Good to watch guys,I bought a new motorhome 2 years ago with everything fitted,but using it I find lots of things needed to change to make life easier,I fit bigger water tank and pump,extra roof vent,security on windows and doors,camera system to back and front vision( I drive right hand drive ca in Europe) and many other small things,as you say it is always changing things in the van to make comfortable 👌Paulo England

Insert a rivet-nut into the door for your security lock pin. Will give a nice finish and be strong. You can either leave it threaded and screw the pin in for extra security, or drill the thread out for sliding fit.

Yeah, it’s not the easiest thing, as that chair is pretty rare, but maybe we can adapt something similar from another van.

Thanks for your unselfish sharing, a super enjoyable video production. You two are very inventive and great problem solvers. When going under the camper, you could put blocks under the tyres to get more height underneath. The hole for the door security, you could pop rivet a stainless steel plate over it, won't rust and would add strength. I also really like your EB logo.

Great idea with the secondary door locks. Looks much better than the large external locks and good backup protection.

If you put external locks then people will be more interested why would you lock the van so heavily, so hidden thing is perfect.
