Tsurumi Island is the true haunted location in Genshin Impact. Wuhang Hill has got nothing on this Island what with it's dark lore and it's history full of bloodshed!
Actually, there's a similar picture of a God/Archon giving something to it's people in Dragonspine where we find the dragonspine claymore. I believe that Tsurumi Island (specifically the underground area) and Dragonspine have relations to Khaeri'ah, or maybe an underworld in Teyvat. I'm starting to think Khaeri'ah is a lot bigger than we thought. Perhaps it's the underworld, or maybe the Abyss. Just speculating
Somewhere in dragonspine states that they knew about humans making a nation without gods meaning they dragonspine civilization probably came before khaenriah
As we read in the murals in the far north of tsurumi, we see pics of the floating rocks of celestia... and the feathers of Kapatchir stated she created light to disperse the fog thrown from above. What the f did the celestial people do to this world ;; I just know I'm gonna be more and more devastated to uncover
this Celestia sounds more and more like the "Celestial Dragon" in One Piece. They might actually be people who has exceptional power or technology or something, and controls the world as they see fit. Maybe something happened that forced them to "leave" the surface people, but they still wanted to have control so they opted the gods to be their "proxy" by giving them the gnosys... and "why not just give out 7 and let those gods fight for it? it'll be a nice event to watch over" could be what they're thinking? (if they are as bad as those Celestial Dragon from One Piece) What if the Gnosys is what started their "corrosion" as it is something given by the Celestia? And Tsaritsa was actually trying to save her fellow Gods from being corroded by Celestia? (but the Fatui had their own agenda with it)... its just an idea I thought of that sounds interesting. Also, what if Celestia is the ancient people, the beta civilization, that once roam the planet? But they left to the floating island, leaving some of their own people on the surface (presumably those who disagree or were deemed unnecessary to them) ?
It's not that it has weak lore. It's more of people tend to see only the storylines and quests as the source of genshin lore. Materials, Weapons, places, books and artifacts have a lot of text that give insight to the game's lore but since people are lazy they don't pay much attention to those.

Seeing as how the fog is caused by a Leyline Disorder, and how the loading screen mentions that the Leylines reach across the world or something. It’s possible that the Abyss is using these Leylines to guard themselves from the Heavens / Celestia. And it’s also possible that the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles purposefully dropped fragments of Celestia to pierce the Leylines and to purify the abyss itself while also harming Teyvat.
I think Dragonspine along this island are my favorite to explore, they seems to give away, although implicitly, bits of lore. While the Archon quests have revealed some plot, these Gods refuses to grant the full picture of events between Celestia and Teyvat, only Dainsleif seems to be the most helpful in this regard. Dude I know this comment is like ,, ancient but I felt the need to clarify that the time loop wasn't caused because they did the sacrifice wrong. That's only what Ruu believes. The loop was caused because of a curse the thunderbird placed after wiping the civilization clean and fleeing away. Not being rude just thought I'd clarify, though I think the idea that ruu genuinely believing he has to keep dying over and over again because he or someone else did the sacrifice wrong just hurts a little more than if it was the real reason the loop occurred 🙁
Thanks for laying out the lore and connections to the other places in the world of teyvat! Going to add my 2 cents that Makiri is a word for an ainu knife. Men would carve makiri and give it to a woman they wanted to marry as an example of their skills. The 2 characters having names related to blades only strengthen their association with each other

Anyway: Thanks for the video! ❤ Tsurumi is one of my favorite places in Teyvat for sure and I love how diguestable you make everything regarding the sometimes really scattered lore in the game.
man. this world quest gave me some Big Feelings, so to speak. the inability of the player/traveller to save ruu even after everything was absolutely heartbreaking (not gonna lie, i cried at the finale). WHY IS INAZUMA SO DAMN SAD
I have a feeling we will be going back here for many reasons. One is that with the fog lifted, the tri comm of inazuma will send adventurers to explore the place as a possible expansion and resources, possibly watatsumi will join. Second ei might want to explore the place and find the reason why the thunderbird wants the place hidden. Third so that we can understand what that ruined civilization is all about
This story is really interesting, one of my favorites. Though there's one thing i'm still confused with. If the fog was initially caused by the strange object thrown by Celestia, how are we able to clear it by bringing Ruu to Seirai to sing for the Thunderbird? The Thunderbird may have brought the curse that caused the timeloop, but how that alone can clear the fog all together? The Thunderbird also have no connection to Celestia, as no one knows where it came from, so it's a bit unclear of how clearing the fog relates to the Thunderbird. And surprisingly, we still can't find the object thrown by Celestia that caused the fog.
Bro I skipped most of this quest because I was in need of primogems and now I really regret it 😭 I saw a post talking about how dark this quest was and I was like HUH.... glad this video exists so I can hear the story 😭
Either that, or it is possibls that the Hakushin and the Sumari clan may have blended together at one point. My bet is that the likes of Yae and Sucrose have either Sumari or Hakushin features.

Ruu's world quest is the one I'll never ever forget and the best in my opinion. It got everything! Lore and emotional damage 😭 if you've included a clip of him singing I would've cried again 😭
Oh man...this video already sounds good and I'm only a minute in but I'm just getting to the end of the quest myself so I think I will wait to finish this video (although I already kinda got it spoiled by reading comments on a different video I saw about this quest, but still...I wanna experience it myself if I can first.)
I bet the Thunder Bird was either the Electro Dragon Sovereign or a descendant of the Sovereign, like how Dvalin is a descendant of the Anemo sovereign
what I found interesting was that Ruu mentions Wen Kamuy as a domesticated animal they kept and ate, while Ainu in real life refuse to eat Wen Kamuy - an animal that has turned into an evil god after eating human flesh. just a really weird inconsistency lmao
What a fantastic video. I really wish I payed more attention back in 2.2 because after understanding the lord this is one of my favourite stories in the game. Amazing job explaining all of this
It's fascinating that a game like genshin has so much understanding about the creation and consequences of a religion. Not any of the big 3 religions ofc they're the real ones.
For Khaenri'ah we see at least a lot of stars for them who are involved and down in Tsurumi island cave it looked like the people there worships Khaenri'ah
This is simply amazing, I was left really astounded with this whole mission and what I could connect on my own, but I was actually missing a.lot. This video is brilliant, from the easy to understand explanation to the whole lotta research added here, simply incredible... just wanted to say that... thanks a lot.
Is it possible that the “mysterious individual of the sumari clan with fox like ears” mentioned by Una is Yae or at least, something similar and related to Yae?
That's what I also guessed at first that Yae could be a descendant from that clan. I also read from somewhere that "Sumari" means fox. It's curious how this clan never got mentioned until now
@@KlemenTime I believe that they are also descendants of these fox-like human beings in both Inazuma and Liyue, but it didn't specifically callimg them kitsunes. Strange... but it may somehow referred to elves when you think about it. Elves also have long drooping ears similar to foxes.
im really glad that i decided to look up tsurumi island's lore and found your video. this is very well made please keep it up!! (i really paused halfway through the vid just to send a like, subscribe, and share the link to my friends !! :>)
omg i was reading the comments n not paying attention to the video. i legit thought the intro was just one of kazuha’s dialogues!! and the video editing omg??
20:15 whenever I hear about a mysterious woman with fox ears in Inazuma, I always assume it’s either Yae Miko for modern situations or Kitsune Saiguu, for stuff that happened in the past
I had a feeling this was what was happening there when I started that quest a month ago. Now, I only have this island and Enkan to 100% for Inazuma, and I'm excited for all the lore that will explode like a ruin guard's missiles in my face. I will have to finish the rest of the quest, which will be something considering I have not at all returned to Tsurumi in seeming ages. I don't recall where I left off, but will gladly immerse.
Hoyoverse should remake this quest with voice acting and cut scenes as suggested in this video, because this is a long quest with a lot of information, and very good story!
This is my first time getting interested in genshin lore. I want to know why ruu is sacrificed and even some of them talk as if mocking ruu fate. I tot we can save ruu
Now I'll never look at the omen of thunderstorm (thundering fury goblet) the same way ever again. In fact, the whole thundering fury artifact set is just dark. Weird how the thunderbird depicted in the statues kinda looks like Oz
Exploring dragonspine gave me the need to constantly find heat, so that I don't die.....but oh boy...when I went in Tsurumi, as I pass through the gate, I constantly remained terrified as to when those nasty wolves are gonna come and inflict corrosion....😰
I wonder if the "True Heaven" that was described by the old civilizations in Teyvat was either the 3 Moon Sisters' Kingdom or the kingdom in Gnostic Hymn trailer. Meanwhile,Celestia is an outside force that forcefully took over the "heavens" & claim the position as the ruler of Teyvat, thus the line "Heaven is no longer alive".Since this incident happened on the heaven, most mortals wouldn't have known therefore people just obeyed Celestia blindly. Just my head-canon.
You know they might have had to cut funds for this quest. This could have been a movie or series🤣. Maybe they will make one after the game story line is finished. I like the game but my attention span will never let e finish it. I just watch videos like this so I can finish the story because that's all I play it for.
this actually seems like foreshadowing to the before sun and moon book primordial one - the stars that the tribe once worshipped before the pillar fell and fog appeared thunderbird - celestia? the tribe - the humans that the primordial one created the question is who is ruu in the story of the book
Now I don't know much about genshin lore but what if the whole of teyvat way back then before Khaenri'ah even just worshipped one God? That God being the unknown God then new Gods started showing up and kind of overthrow her?
I just don’t know why can’t we just get this explained more easily by the game itself… I love environmental storytelling and it’s cool to see people solve the puzzle and discover the story within the different pieces of lore in the game but the story that we get at face value pales so much in comparison to the rest of lore that exists in teyvat… it’s a shame because it seems like Mihoyo does have compelling stories to tell, but they dumb down things so much and make them so simple perhaps to appeal to a younger/ more casual audience maybe?

I thought it was Kazuha talking too!
Was thinking this myself
ikr i was like i dont remeber this scene lmao
Oh damn yes I can hear Kazuha
I hope more people get to see this video as it was such a great way of telling the lore of tsurumi island
You nailed it again! Marvelous piece right here. Hope many will see this.
man. this world quest gave me some Big Feelings, so to speak. the inability of the player/traveller to save ruu even after everything was absolutely heartbreaking (not gonna lie, i cried at the finale).
As for why the domain of these artifacts left at mondstadt is something bugged my mind
You are so talented omg i feel like listening to kazuha telling inazuma lores😭😭😭 thank you for always making these types of videos!!!!!🤎🤍🤎🤍🤎🤍
This is my favorite quest in the game so far!
Soothing voice! Stumbled on this video and thought it was Kazuha best boy narrating. Do more!
20:13 "matriarch" is used when a ruler in question is female, so a female with fox-like ears is maybe the Kitsune Saiguu
Either that, or it is possibls that the Hakushin and the Sumari clan may have blended together at one point. My bet is that the likes of Yae and Sucrose have either Sumari or Hakushin features.
I really love watching your videos while I do my assignments and it also helps me understand the lore more because when I play, I just can't concentrate and trying to understand the dialogue TT
Genshin lore can be complicated at times 😓
you deserve alot of likes and subs! wish to see more of such lore in-depth walkthrough and explanations in the future. I understand alot more after your video which was not achievable myself playing thru and reading the storyline myself.
appreciate your time and effort doing it. thanks a million!
this is my favorite quest in all of genshin
Thank you for the video, I've been waiting for your analysis. You always make the most detailed theory videos.
thank you for mentioning the Ainu influences for Tsurumi island!
When I first set foot on that island, I felt almost entirely alone and cold. Even tho I was literally sitting next to our fireplace in my home, i couldn't shake the feeling that I was cold.
i absolutely love your videos. please keep making more, your content quality is second to none, thank you for putting so much effort and studying the lore which is hard for a student like me. i really hope your channel blows up because people are really missing out on some top notch lore dives.
Knowing more of the lore makes it more enjoyable to explore in genshin
amazing job as always, I'll be looking back to this video to remember the details of this quest series for my own lore posts :) thank you for always being so thorough!
Oh hey! Thanks again for your summarized post! Glad to know you loved the video :)
Out of all the 5 islands, Tsurumi is my favorite. It's beautiful and poignant with a touch of morbidity. It's a wonderful experience
I understood most of Kamuy references from the anime Golden Kamuy, interesting story about the Ainus.
what I found interesting was that Ruu mentions Wen Kamuy as a domesticated animal they kept and ate, while Ainu in real life refuse to eat Wen Kamuy - an animal that has turned into an evil god after eating human flesh. just a really weird inconsistency lmao
damn your editing and voice tone when telling this story is amazing
pls be my history teacher i beg you
Thanks for making these video,,you make my genshin exploration days enjoyable again.
What the inazuma archon quest lacked, they made it up for the world quests
I cried so much... mihoyo connecting stuff we have been using for a year too is so satisfying
What a fantastic video. I really wish I payed more attention back in 2.2 because after understanding the lord this is one of my favourite stories in the game. Amazing job explaining all of this
YOUR AMAZING! Like seriously your channel is a hidden gem amongst other creators 🖤
Thanks for the summary. I wonder why the people of this island thought of sacrificing their people in the first place. 🤔
that crown dude (or king)... is somewhat similar to the battlepass story... you know the one that venti narrates everytime there is new battlepass...
At first, I thought that Kazuha´s VA was narrating this ....
good job in summarizing the lore
It's fascinating that a game like genshin has so much understanding about the creation and consequences of a religion. Not any of the big 3 religions ofc they're the real ones.
thank you for making this video cause i was so lost with all this lore, especially since i don't play everyday
Thank you so much! I'm always looking forward for lore videos cuz I'm too lazy to read those text myself
For Khaenri'ah we see at least a lot of stars for them who are involved and down in Tsurumi island cave it looked like the people there worships Khaenri'ah
Thanks for all the work you put into these, I really love listening to genshin lore. And you have a smooth voice to tell stories !
the witcher 3 OSTs fit so good with this! keep up the lore stuff man, you are doing all of us a service
Awesome video. Tsurumi island has so much depth and it was so fun exploring it.
Really high quality lore video as always, thanks for the work you put into these
I knew it ruu will be sacrificed...demm, I haven't completed the quest yet because i'm busy, but i dont regret watching your vid..
really liked this summary of events that happened in tsurumi island !! thanks for the amazing video!
omg i was reading the comments n not paying attention to the video. i legit thought the intro was just one of kazuha’s dialogues!! and the video editing omg??
20:15 whenever I hear about a mysterious woman with fox ears in Inazuma, I always assume it’s either Yae Miko for modern situations or Kitsune Saiguu, for stuff that happened in the past
Big tnx for making this lore vids, sometimes, I'm just not in the mood to read and feel the story to get those primos.
That’s so cool the connection between Ainu and the tatsurumi island
I had a feeling this was what was happening there when I started that quest a month ago. Now, I only have this island and Enkan to 100% for Inazuma, and I'm excited for all the lore that will explode like a ruin guard's missiles in my face. I will have to finish the rest of the quest, which will be something considering I have not at all returned to Tsurumi in seeming ages. I don't recall where I left off, but will gladly immerse.
Hoyoverse should remake this quest with voice acting and cut scenes as suggested in this video, because this is a long quest with a lot of information, and very good story!
This is the one video that cleared up the entire timeline perfectly for me. Thank you so much
You deserve more subs and views! You summarized the tsurumi lore in a very informative and exciting way. 🤩
This is my first time getting interested in genshin lore. I want to know why ruu is sacrificed and even some of them talk as if mocking ruu fate. I tot we can save ruu
wow great discernment about the peak hitting the center of the terrain! I never thought of that!!
for some reason this is my favourite place in the game
Love your content and your way of presenting. Really hope you keep doing this! Much love from Malaysia ❤️
3:47 the correct term is 'Ishine Script' not 'Ashine script', but I think some said the same thing.
This video is beyond inredible. Thank you for making this
Now I'll never look at the omen of thunderstorm (thundering fury goblet) the same way ever again. In fact, the whole thundering fury artifact set is just dark. Weird how the thunderbird depicted in the statues kinda looks like Oz
HoyoVerse should have you as their legit documentarian for EN viewers. We literally need this other than figuring the story through the game
The production quality of these videos is insane. Here's a sub!
I can imagine Kapatcir's voice would be ara ara.
damn you are so underrated man I love your presentation of this quest. I love the story it make me mad and sad at the same time
You are god send to this community. Thank you ❤️
Exploring dragonspine gave me the need to constantly find heat, so that I don't die.....but oh boy...when I went in Tsurumi, as I pass through the gate, I constantly remained terrified as to when those nasty wolves are gonna come and inflict corrosion....😰
Just my head-canon.
i absolutely enjoyed this video, the narration, the transitions, loved it all, please keep it up!
You know they might have had to cut funds for this quest. This could have been a movie or series🤣. Maybe they will make one after the game story line is finished. I like the game but my attention span will never let e finish it. I just watch videos like this so I can finish the story because that's all I play it for.
this actually seems like foreshadowing to the before sun and moon book
primordial one - the stars that the tribe once worshipped before the pillar fell and fog appeared
thunderbird - celestia?
the tribe - the humans that the primordial one created
the question is who is ruu in the story of the book
Now I don't know much about genshin lore but what if the whole of teyvat way back then before Khaenri'ah even just worshipped one God? That God being the unknown God then new Gods started showing up and kind of overthrow her?
I remember seeing a vid talking about how Oz is the reincarnation of the thunder bird
Yeah I agree. I certainly hope there were more to this when 2.1 arrived but it lacked so much in storytelling and pacing :(
