This is the video that finally made me understand and piece together all the lore snippets I gathered around the desert. Thank you so much for this. Keep up the great work!
Loved the way you narrate this! It always strikes me how the history of the desert in Sumeru is both glorious and yet so sad. The people of the desert were on a decline and suffered so much after the end of the reign of the 3 God Kings, sparked by the death of the GoF. That really was the catalyst.
I really appreciate how you put the lore together. this is one of the main reasons why i still play Genshin. apart from the gaming experience itself the lore is incredibly good and sometimes it's just hard to piece everything together while going through the quest. thank you for your hardwork!
The most pragmatic thing a ruler can do, is offer former slaves a place in his or her armies. Fantasy rulers could always find use for bigger armies. A greater ruler would hire them to build great things. But in this case, Primal Constructs already took that role. Still, there clearly was a need for laborers who would clean the canals and make the water flow again. And farming is always good work that will, at least, keep them fed.
She was insane from the start of this video. Probably affected by Forbidden Knowledge earlier than humans. If so, it may be the Traveler's presence which cured her.

i guessed before 3.3, one of the forbidden knowledges was an attempt to break a line between life and death as deshret wanted to resurrect goddess of flowers. but i didn't expect that to make it happen, deshret caused a truly horrible event where a lot of innocent people's life's involved. my question now is, how did rukkhadevata undo the curses, it seems she lost some of her memories after performing her sacrifice, since herself not knowing what was the forbidden knowledge deshret did.
I believe he may have actually had (almost) 300 children. If I remember correctly, one of the obelisks mentions he specifically had 114 males and 113 females and how the females wore flowers and such (but this was awhile ago so... if I find it again I'll edit this comment) EDIT: I found a screenshot I took of it a hot minute ago. To be honest I don't think they're referring to him so nvm this whole comment. Maybe I just need a breakdown video of the people and their descendants. Finally I can see your videos again Klen! Finished 3.4 yesterday night. And boi what a story it was! Saw both your videos and can't wait for the third part! Couple of notes/questions: 1.We know how boodline was important, so I wonder how being "half-jinn" could impact in one's nature. For instance, maybe Shirin could only do those "deformed jinn childs" due to her mixed blood? (I want to know more info about her and how she ended becoming the "Mad Queen"). 2. Other question I have is what happened to Liloupar sisters (the original jinn) after they were helping (?) King Deshret to build his Mausoleum? 3. And what was the role of the 3 Kings under direct command of King Deshret doing during all this family drama? Shouldn't they have rebelled against the Kingslayer (Shiruyeh's)? For being so much prominently figures across the desert, with gigantic statues and all, I think they lack a bit of lore. - Thanks a ton for the extremely well made videos. You guys are pros! Ppl need to share it 100x more!
I love this video wow great summary ! Your voice, the narration and the illustrations was perferct I need more ahaha !! Also I would like you to talk about Candace, it said that shes a descendant of King Deshret so it implies that he had a relationship with someone right ? Is she some kind of demi-god or because shes the product of countless generations her godly blood diluded ?? Idk she intrigues me
apparantly in her character stories, she isnt a literal descendant of king deshret, they just had a habit of calling whoever guards the village/is a descendant of the people who were alive during his rule a 'descendant of king deshret'
it was mentioned in the one of the quest that the goddess of flower is no longer in the eternal oasis and the king deshret (allegedly) lied to the jinni. the real question, where is she currently and will we meet her?
King Deshret promised the Jinn that they would be able to see the GoF's dead body once again on the eternal oasis even though she was never there in the first place. He lied just so that the Jinn, in their grief, would give him their names so he had control over them. Her being dead is a fact. Her body probably just disappeared, so I don't think we will be meeting her, sadly.
@@calliopebarbosa190 I think her remains were eaten by consecrated beasts, that's why we find so many of them in hadramaveth, I think I read somewhere that consecrated beasts get power from eating dead gods' remains. Hence why we find consecrated scorpion near orobaxi's skeleton.

So i was wondering, since Rukkadevata was one of the original archons, would that mean that the archon war in sumeru only ended after king deshret's death? cause he rejected the gnosis so the three of them would rule together.
I think that might not be the case. It could've ended as soon as Deshret rejected the gnosis and Celestia chose Rukkhadevata instead (or he nominated her, who knows). So far it seems like multiple gods can exists at the same time even if one of them is archon as long as they're not trying to pry gnosis over each other? Much like Marchosius and Andrius are still around while Morax and Barbatos become the archon (I mean Andrius "died" so Barbatos can become archon but at the same time he's still alive and kicking in Wolvendom??) because they accepted that Morax and Barbatos are the better choice of archon instead of themselves and did not try to fight over the gnosis. I think the archon war will only happen when the gods are fighting for the gnosis for themselves instead of sharing it. I think when Deshret rejected the gnosis, it's kinda implied that the gnosis immediately went to Rukkha because Nabu was cast off by Celestia so they probably won't welcome her back as an archon, and Rukkha supposedly left the desert around Nabu's death (though Liloupar said that Nabu and Rukkha had some kind of disagreement so she might have left earlier) and went to one corner of Sumeru to build her rainforest, which might seem impossible without the power of Dendro Gnosis considering at that time all Sumeru was already a very desolate desert from the Divine Nail sent way way earlier, and the Aranaras said that in the beginning the forest had too much sand until it was able to become the land that we know today, so by then she probably had received the Dendro Gnosis and used it to build the rainforest.
@@Aozora210 The lore is kinda weird on that part, because Ei had to sacrifice herself so that Makoto could be the Archon. Since Andrius also had to do so for Barbatos to be the Archon, I think it implies that they couldn't co-exist (at least for the "crowning" period)? That's why I don't really understand how it happened in Sumeru. Because somehow Celestia would have been okay with 3 gods reigning while they were not for other nations. As for the Gnosis, I think that it's possible Rukkha earned it after Deshret's death? GoF died before him, so maybe the gnosis was given to Rukk after _his_ passing. Because the three of them weren't Archons when they were all alive. When her two friends died, Rukkha naturally became the Archon of Sumeru, or at least that's how I see it. We may have new info about it in the future patches though.
@@usalisa3656 Understandable @ the weird lore because I have been wondering what is up with Andrius and Beelzebul/Ei that they had to sacrifice themselves so Barbatos and Baal/Makoto can become archon 🤨 However there are samples like the God-kings of Sumeru and also Marchosius, Haagentus, and Morax who all can vibe together despite archon war going on? I mean Guizhong/Haagentus is definitely a casualty of archon war, but it doesn't seem as if Morax is about to kill her himself nor Marchosius for him to become the Archon anyway (he said that gods in Liyue form alliances during archon war, which includes his group of gods and adepti), so it implied that like the god-kings of Sumeru, the surviving gods of Liyue can coexists despite one of them being an archon. The trend of potential archon sacrificing themselves so another god can become the archon so far follows the stronger, more combative god (Andrius and Beelzebul) sacrificing themselves for a kinder and more human-caring gods (Barbatos and Baal). While that might seem like the case with Deshret and Rukkha, it hasn't been mentioned anywhere that Deshret died so Rukkha can become an archon. It's always Deshret died so he can erase the forbidden knowledge. Most Eremites believed that Rukkha betrayed Deshret so she can become the "God of Wisdom", but then the Archon Quest has proved them wrong. Then again, the timeline is still very fuzzy. Some said Deshret died "over a thousand years ago", which would make his death way past the end of Archon War and would be odd if Rukkha hadn't been archon by then, but also some said that he had been dead for thousands of years, which ranges between two to three thousands years, which means his death could really mean that Rukkha became the "victor" of Archon War. All these blabbering and in the end I do agree with the hope that Hoyo would clear them more in coming updates....
Scarlet King: You were the chosen Jinn! You were supposed to restore Gurabad to it former glory, not drown it forever in the abyss!!? Liloupar: I LOVED YOU!!!!!
"I LOVED YOU" XDXDXD Imagine instead of -aranakin- anakin screaming I hate you, replace it with an earlier scene of pregnant padme begging I love you in an attempt to turn him back from sithness
I'm confused at 18:56, you mention that the curse was brought by the forbidden knowledge but Liloupar said she brought this curse from the darkness of the abyss. So why would King Deshret sacrifice himself if the curse wasn't brought by him?
Might it be possible that the fact that Kisra is Liloupar's son and also raised by Ghognus and later adopted by Ormazd aren't mutually exclusive to each other? She could have mothered him and left him in Ghognus' care as part of her ploy against Ormazd, since Kisra is younger than Shirin and we know that Liloupar's vengeance started by the time when Shirin was born. After all, we didn't have direct confirmation that they were siblings until Liloupar said it herself, and she is the true schemer of everything, so of course she would've known the truth better, but everyone else who wrote the story about Gurabad only had the truth about Kisra's origin as they know it (after all it's said the Tales of Shiruyeh and Shirin are Eremite's version of the history). It is like Zhongli said during the Lantern Rite, "The same truth will sound different coming from different people. As more bear witness to a story, feelings and interpretations expand in variety too", so instead of a correction or completely different truth, I'd say it's just a matter of different perspective, and maybe those truth will compliment each other instead of contrasting each other. That aside (and probably the notes about Ruin Golems mentioned by others already), this is such a great video. I always love how you decided to use made-up maps for showcasing areas and location. it felt much like a history documentary and thus very enjoyable to watch. Also thank you very much for sticking to many in-game characters and footages instead of resorting to AI art like some content creators do. I truly appreciate that.
i don't think it's confirmed if the abyssal curse of shiryueh was liloupar's doing or if it was brought by deshret. even the quote from liloupar seems to suggest that she orchestrated it and it was before deshret came to punish her. but it might be a nice tie-in if they make it fit chronologically somehow.
This is why sumeru feels so big because the lore is too rich, what do you think of dessert having its own statue of seven as of now 3.4 we have 11 statues in sumeru presently. So are there gone 14 statues at the end or 21.
Its kind of interesting but I do wonder why we arent finding traces of Venessas tribe as they drifted around...its much more recent history so there should be traces. I would imagine that they would have drifted into other regions like Sumeru, since they ended up captured as slaves and it didnt seem like it was done by their own in their own land. None of the countries seem to have been interested in invading other nations either at that point, everyone seemed too busy dealing with their own crap...and the nation that currently seem closest to Natlan seem to be the sumerian desert, but the Deshret people were still drifting around themselves and trying to survive, so I dont think they had possibility of invading Natlan beyond just smaller raids... Im very curious to the state of Natlan and what happened with Murata... Sorry for going on about this when it seem unrelated...I just thought it peculiar that we didnt see more recent history, there isnt even recent graffiti which has been common throughout our own history.
They'll probably add more nathan lore when we get to fontaine. But true natlan lacks lore crumbs compare to other nations. We had fontaine NPC before sumeru but so far natlan doesn't have much reference or significance yet.
Some people are saying that the machines Kisra made were not ruin golems, but the primal constructs and ASIMONs. That makes sense. But then, where did the ruin golems come from? What am I missing? Did khanria attack sumeru during that time?
If you explore inside those golems you'll find a lot of notes. To summarize, when abyssal monsters wrecks havoc, some Khanreians went on against it and one is by deploying those golems.
I'm leaving this comment bc, doing the new Story Quest, Liloupar when we first meet her calls the Traveler (I use Lumine) the Princess in exile. Idk, what this may mean if it actually has some lore-related stuff, but it rang a bell inside my mind. So I'm leaving this bit of info in case it is of some use
If primal constructs are powered by Jinn fragments, what are ruin machines/Khaenriah tech powered by? Some say they have the same power source. Then what's the equivalent of Jinn fragments from the Abyss?
@@vergiltasev7108 yes but what's in those cores/devices? if chaos is from the abyss, what makes them the same power as the Jinn fragments? do they have the same origin??
@@HaguromoGitsune The most we know so far for sure is that the chaos cores contain a dark power which seems to have negative effects on the forest in Sumeru. Otherwise before these chaos cores, Khaenri'ah also utilized energy blocks containing pure leyline energy. How these relate or differentiate to the primal constructs is unknown, as we know almost nothing about their source of power. Strictly visually I would speculate that aside from the jinn fragments, the Celestial nail could be a potential power source due to the light blue glow which all mechanisms in the desert have.

i think it's different. constructs are powered by jinn fragments while ruin series are unknown. Gold might used unborn fetus souls for all we know but yeah, aranara and even liloupar do not like it.
The gold makes me think that it’s made with the power of khemia, the same alchemy that rhinnedottir used to create albedo. And albedo knows how to use it too. His yellow crystal in his neck matches the energy blocks from the ruin guards
there was a king named kisra parvez around 579-628A.D who was also killed by his son . his father was hormizd{similar to ormazd}( not sure about english spelling) , he had a daughter named shirin too .
they really take fragments from real life history .
It's love tale of king koshrow II and his wife shirin in english
@@wonyoungiie831 i know it as "shirin & forhad" . but that's a made up story unlike "layla & mojnu" which is true story . (I'm not sure if shirin was his daughter or wife , couldn't find on wiki and forgot what i read like 10years ago i think🤔)
This is the video that finally made me understand and piece together all the lore snippets I gathered around the desert. Thank you so much for this. Keep up the great work!
tsurumi, chasm, gurabad and dragonspine who's winning in a gore-off 😍😍😍
Enka:...
Tbh it's gumbard so far the worst
Gurabad takes it currently... It's just way too bloody. I love it
Loved the way you narrate this! It always strikes me how the history of the desert in Sumeru is both glorious and yet so sad. The people of the desert were on a decline and suffered so much after the end of the reign of the 3 God Kings, sparked by the death of the GoF. That really was the catalyst.
I really appreciate how you put the lore together. this is one of the main reasons why i still play Genshin. apart from the gaming experience itself the lore is incredibly good and sometimes it's just hard to piece everything together while going through the quest. thank you for your hardwork!
the freeing of slaves reminds me of Daenerys. She freed the slaves but didn't know what to do with them after..
Crazy she killed and made her children suffer then had the nerve at the end to be like imma go be with them like gurl ur actually insane
She was insane from the start of this video.
Probably affected by Forbidden Knowledge earlier than humans. If so, it may be the Traveler's presence which cured her.
I need to play this quest, but I'm still lagging on the 3.2 quests though!
While I do enjoy reading the stories, the way you narrate it and try to add details from several sources makes it infinitely more enjoyable and makes me want to binge watch your channel! XD
Thanks for your hard work! =D
Thank you for the great explanation ! With all the confusing lore I got, my mind couldn't piece up all the parts of the story and I was kept in a thick fog ... But now things are crystal clear :)
Lmao I would've never expected genshin to pull a Game of Thrones in their lore
Genshin impact is 12+ game...
but if you dig into world lore... it become 18+, Mature, Adult only game.
genocide, cannibalism, betrayal, assassination, incest, torture, sacrifice ritual and more......
I love your lore-explaining videos! The storylines are cleared up, the method of using playable characters and npcs to 'act' as the historical characters is great, and your voice almost sounds like Kazuha telling me a story...
the quality of this video... thank you so much for making and sharing this. makes it easier for me casual lore reader, plus the visualization makes it interesting like im watching a documentary! love it so much. keep up the good work! subscribing and turning on notifs bc i want to see more :D
Oh thank the gods I got this on my recommended during the first hour of release! I am just starting to watch and already I am taking more notes than I ever will for school XD

The fact that Liloupar didn't transformed into a waifu when traveling with us like she did for Ormazd is an outrageous crime, Jinnussy > everything else 😂
“GENSHIT FANS WAKE UP, KLEMENTIME POSTED!!”
Omg this is excellent, thanks so much to make this video. Can't wait for the third video. Sumeru so far really has the most satisfying story for me.
Look up on Persian history of Khosrow II (Kisra in Arabic), it's pretty similar to Genshin version on the coups with some exceptions here and there.
best sumeru lore video so far, I finally understand whats going on! Thank you and big respect for an amazing job!
YEY
Edit : we should really start calling this “A Song of Death, Sacrifice and Forgetfulness"
i guessed before 3.3, one of the forbidden knowledges was an attempt to break a line between life and death as deshret wanted to resurrect goddess of flowers. but i didn't expect that to make it happen, deshret caused a truly horrible event where a lot of innocent people's life's involved. my question now is, how did rukkhadevata undo the curses, it seems she lost some of her memories after performing her sacrifice, since herself not knowing what was the forbidden knowledge deshret did.
But the Door to Gurabad where the Jinn left us is still closed, i hope we will get the Answer soon.
5:30 oh so you're saying sweet home _Gurabama_ huh???
Man, your channel is a bless that came to me out of nowhere, can't wait for more lore videos 💖
One of the most perfect video I was searching after exploring the freaking desert region, man the lore is outstanding
This is just amazing. You explained it sooo good
I believe he may have actually had (almost) 300 children. If I remember correctly, one of the obelisks mentions he specifically had 114 males and 113 females and how the females wore flowers and such (but this was awhile ago so... if I find it again I'll edit this comment)
EDIT:
I found a screenshot I took of it a hot minute ago. To be honest I don't think they're referring to him so nvm this whole comment. Maybe I just need a breakdown video of the people and their descendants.
The text goes as follows:
"Vaguely-Readable Inscription
(The perimeter of this Obelisk is adorned with gold leaf
Only a notable nation could have left such a relic behind.)
Muzaffar Dey once instructed the Verdant Lord Zumurud
to leave as many heirs as a pomegranate tree bears fruits,
so as to not have a repeat of the power vacuum that had
followed the tragedy of King Saleb Dowleh
And so the Verdant Lord had 99 sons and daughters, and
there was not one realm throughout the land that had such
great fortune as he.
Fifty of these were princes, and each wore a golden crown,
and each was as valiant as a lion. Of them, the wisest was
Muzzudin, whose stature was like that of a giant. In the
name of the Verdant Lord's grand dream, he and his equally
mighty brother Badanah, born as they were of the same
mother, drove their slaves before them with sword and
plow. planting trees in the desert and turning the barren..."
Finally I can see your videos again Klen! Finished 3.4 yesterday night.
And boi what a story it was! Saw both your videos and can't wait for the third part!
Couple of notes/questions:
1.We know how boodline was important, so I wonder how being "half-jinn" could impact in one's nature.

Thanks a ton for the extremely well made videos.
Oooh another juice for my drying brain, thanks! Thats great vid as always. Oh and, iirc i didnt see any ads on this? I dont use any adblock either
As always awesome content you have brought us today!
Sad we never got a part 3, I really loved these videos!
The Oasis of Nabu seems to be built based on memory, that is why time does not interfere in that place.
it was mentioned in the one of the quest that the goddess of flower is no longer in the eternal oasis and the king deshret (allegedly) lied to the jinni.
the real question, where is she currently and will we meet her?
She died
She probably faded when she died just like Rukkadevatta
King Deshret promised the Jinn that they would be able to see the GoF's dead body once again on the eternal oasis even though she was never there in the first place. He lied just so that the Jinn, in their grief, would give him their names so he had control over them.
Her being dead is a fact. Her body probably just disappeared, so I don't think we will be meeting her, sadly.
She's gone gone sadly. Like gone gone, she showed Deshret the secrets of the stars and the abyss, a tornado appeared and boom she gone 😭
Sumeru jungle lore: Aranara go brrrr

Wow great video. I wish my english would be better, so i could better understand your explanation. But with this great eng subs its a lot easier for me. Thank you so much for your work.
Btw. You sounds exactly like the english voice actor of Kazuha 😅 very cool
WHERES PART THREE KLEMEN
i like how genshin world quest makes me forget that genshin is a gacha game
Thank you for summarizing this interesting story for us that I was too lazy to read! I wish all those long world quests had a Kazuha voice-over, maybe then I'd actually pay attention and not just speed through them to get the primos...
What is the title of part 3 about the 7 city states?
First the fall of Enkanomiya & Orobaxi then the destruction of the civilization in chasm & tsurumi island & now the desert, Genshin loves doing back to back emotional dmg.
The most disturbing thing is that tablet in the room with murals where it says 1000 people will be sacrificed to king Deshret..I think its from Ormazd’s POV.. i am so ready to be done with desert 😭
Thank you for this! I needed it
Bruh that king baldwin IV face always haunts me.
actually, the robots that were created by using jinn fragments were the primal constructs, not the ruin golems
ruin golems and any ruin enemies that share the same visual style are originated from khaneirah
@@usalisa3656 Understandable @ the weird lore because I have been wondering what is up with Andrius and Beelzebul/Ei that they had to sacrifice themselves so Barbatos and Baal/Makoto can become archon 🤨
However there are samples like the God-kings of Sumeru and also Marchosius, Haagentus, and Morax who all can vibe together despite archon war going on?
"I LOVED YOU" XDXDXD
Imagine instead of -aranakin- anakin screaming I hate you, replace it with an earlier scene of pregnant padme begging I love you in an attempt to turn him back from sithness
Can't wait for part 3
Bro you did not have to put munching sound effects when the text said "not all parts could be recovered".. it was disturbing 💀💀💀
Still waiting for part 3 XD
I'm confused at 18:56, you mention that the curse was brought by the forbidden knowledge but Liloupar said she brought this curse from the darkness of the abyss. So why would King Deshret sacrifice himself if the curse wasn't brought by him?
13:08 wait, I thought gurabad was literally made along the ravines, not dragged down
Might it be possible that the fact that Kisra is Liloupar's son and also raised by Ghognus and later adopted by Ormazd aren't mutually exclusive to each other?

I love liloupar, i wish she had a body and she was able to live in my teapot 💜 she not sound evil

Wait, werent the ruin guards from khaenriah? Or is guarabard Khaenriah? I thought the Jinni machines were the doritos.

Can't wait for the next Sumeru Weekly Boss & Nahida's 2nd Story Quest
The jinn slave machines the story is referring to are the Primal Constructs, not those Khaenrian golem techs and such! Ughhh
If primal constructs are powered by Jinn fragments, what are ruin machines/Khaenriah tech powered by? Some say they have the same power source. Then what's the equivalent of Jinn fragments from the Abyss?
The Khaenri'ah automatons are either powered by chaos cores or perpetual devices.
@@vergiltasev7108 ty!
Algorithm of Semi-Intransient Matrix of Overseer Network, the golems that are spoken by Lupital, as an example, basically all the golems we see in the desert and especially in King Deshret's mausoleum are that golem.
The giant golems that are from Khaenria has nothing to do with it.
Still mystery for what liloupar said to traveler...

I have one doubt, shouldn’t King Deseret be similar in appearance to Alhaitham more than cyno? As in the official trailer, King deshret’s eye that is shown match Alhaithams. But most of the UA-camrs I see use cyno as reference to King Deseret .
Yes, and on the top of the King Deshret mausoleum all of the statue that have mural on the bottom side as being worshipped by ppl is the eagle statue... the dog(?) statue is a statue of Deshret high priest (similar like one in every temple and priest Kasala tomb)
