One question tho... Did she really use the Tachi/Sword to Orobashi? According to Musou Isshin Lore in Raiden Shogun. "The day Makoto passed on, it was given into Ei's hands. The sword was stained with blood, then, and as the blade drew its first taste of crimson, it was blown aside by wild winds and blazing thunder." If tozannou was killed with the MnH during the War. It doesn't add up to this It was only given to Ei when Makoto Died. Plus the paragraph state was it was not sharpened at all so it was more of a symbol of Makoto's Might. So it was really never used at all. Another thing, Shogun's ascension quotes has her training with her Sword as Well as Naginata/Polearm. So I believe she could also pull Musou no Hitotachi on a Naginata. Clarifications on here please. Thank You Very Awesome Retelling by the way...
She probably used the same technique, but not the same sword when she struck down Orobashi. Yeah I think your right she might be using her spear as a way to do her technique. I mean you can see her using a spear in her story teaser and character teaser.
Hmm yeah I agree with your points. I admit I missed some things there so you could be right with Ei using a naginata to perform the Musuo No Hitotachi. I'll pin your comment so that future viewers will be informed :) Thanks for the clarifications!
@@KlemenTime Actually she used it., this was taken from the genshin impact wiki The Musou Isshin is a legendary sword that was originally created from Raiden Makoto's divine might. While it was in Makoto's possession, the blade was kept unsharpened and unused, and was used as a symbol of true peace. After her death during the cataclysm 500 years ago, it was passed on to her sister Ei, who began to use it as a weapon in battle.[1] After creating the Shogun, Ei transferred her consciousness into the Musou Isshin and created the Plane of Euthymia, while the sword itself is kept within the Shogun and summoned through her chest. Ever since the Musou Isshin was passed down, Ei and the Shogun have performed the Musou no Hitotachi with this blade. Raiden Shogun's Elemental Burst, Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu, changes her stance from wielding a Polearm to wielding the Musou Isshin (which uses Sword animations).

@@backpackpepelon3867 Ei (through her puppet) reigned for 500 years, and she only had one bad year. Her rule before the bad year is said to have been peaceful.
Everyone wondering why this wasn't fully explained in the main story, forget that in real life every location has a "rich" history known and unknown to those who go about their daily lives. Do you ponder the history of your town and city everytime you travel to work? no but you can "feel" it in the culture of the people who live there. This is why Genshin Impact's world building is top tier.
Yeah, people seem to forgot that Genshin's main story revolves around the traveler. There are so many people with rich background and history, but unless that history has something to do with the Traveler, it's not something they can expect to be animated.
Yesss, every region has an interesting part of lore that has nothing to do with the Traveler so it is very interesting to hear about every region's history and culture
I feel bad for the god in this one. They didn't want to start a war, but their people manipulated them into it. If people has attempted trade rather than attacking, there would've been a union of two countries and 3 god in their land (Beelzebud, Baal and Orobashi). They could trade crafts while bying resources. Trade fish, aquacultural things. Anything to do with stone and ores. Pearl crafts.
I don't think so, why would Makoto give them Inazuma people lands.... Would any country give another country land just because they are poor? Nope At most they can give them temporary relief but not any permanent thing like land Trading could have helped them a little but not a lot. Fishing is not going to be very successful trade when whole Inazuma itself is near sea. On top of it their whole land went totally unfertile and unyielding so they didn't have a lot of options
@@AJ-jy6jq the largest precedence in human history for your question exists. Look at the united kingdom, a union between 4 countries, where England is the dominant power and ruling is very consolidated into westminster. Same case could very easily happen with inazuma and watsurumi if they didn't gone to war. This is not ideal for watsurumi, and especially orobashi as he would lose the right to rule but, like Scotland, Wales and northen Ireland, wealth from the British empire trickle down into these three countries from England which improved the wider population quality of live.
With recent information we now still feel bad for Orobashi but there was also no way to scape this fate, Celestia made him chose, his people or his life.
I honestly had no idea that Watatsumi attacked first given all the sentiment the people held to the mainland in their dialogue. It actually explains the tension between the nations a lot. I also had no idea that the underwater city was under that pool in the shrine XD I hope we get to see it. Well I enjoyed the video. Brilliant as always. Keep it up!
and it is very noble of Kokomi to lead her small civilisation as Inazuma's resistence in case the Shogunate overstep and become tyranical to inazuman people. I mean if it was true that the reasom behind the watatsumi's people aggression was because they needed resources, maybe try to ask the shogunate for help or offering some kind of trade, like anything instead violence? Maybe it all could've been avoided. Like i'm sure Raiden Makoto wouldn't mind helping or aggreing to a trade that could benefit both parties. @@youmnacookie2960 IKRRRR but they were like "Nah, let's go to war lmao" I think something else like what was said in the video could be the real reason. Something that could force Orobashi to fight in a battle he can never win.
If the main story the rebel forces had confronted the archon, the story had been repeated, all the commanders would have been killed by the rebels and who knows if Kokomi too. but in ourselves, the traveler, we avoid that ending, as if we had avoided a cycle.
You may also understand, the higher the demand, the higher the price. For the Marchants, land that cannot sustain their own food supply is a gold mine. The marchants can just put any number on their goods or trade with local goods cheaply, of course they can ask for help but they can't depend their life on the mercy of others. In this situation, they have no choice but to "do or die" and "will you die a warrior or die a beggar" becomes the motivation.

The second descender- heavenly principle came and waged war with the first and Ekanomiya fell to the bottom of the sea at this time.
This was seriously so amazing! It felt like watching an actual documentary and I kinda chuckled at Aether kinda being our presenter of the documentary in the beginning and the end 🤣🤣
I knew that Orobashi had to have a reason for the invasion. The possible starvation of his people and the idea of being under the boot of Inazuma if they tried to trade for food - being at their mercy, endangered and vulnerable, pushed them for conquest and made them godless and hurt.
Funny thing is that Orobashi knew and choose to sacriface himself. Putting his people under the Shogunate that they live a better life. He knew he couldn't win but knew he could give them a better future this way. So no. Losing his rule wouldn't bother him.
It's funny how people's opinion is easily swayed by the "good intention" of orobashi and overlooked watatsumi agression to yashiori island. But when it comes to the "good intention" of electro archon, people are livid because she took people's vision/ambition. Both are decided for their people's sake, yet both of them are failed to fulfill it and only bring more misery to their people. As for the archon war, i doubt it about race to get a "seat" in celestia. Based on salt god lore, she and her people was pretty much forced to "participate" in the war even when she didn't wanted to.
Salt god didn't participate in the war though. The reason king killed salt goddess was because he had different ideals, he didn't agreed on her idea of surviving by going weaponless amd hiding in a cave but rather building a war arsenal and participating in battle
Orobashi accidentally read a book which detailed the time before the big lighthouse was built. At that time, Teyvat belonged to a single civilization and the gods had not yet arrived. For reading this book, Celestia sentenced Orobashi to death. In order to let the people of Enkanomiya continue living as humans, Orobashi kept the truth from them and forfeited his life. To do so, Orobashi pretended to migrate his people, sealed Enkanomiya and attacked Narukami so that he can cover up his execution. From a redditor Captain_B0B
I'm so fuking sure that Ei knew about this and she probably thinking twice if what she's going to do is right or bad but orobashi probably already send messages to the shogun. days before orobashi resurface and tell ei to just play along for the sake of both their people.
@@christbenitez8797 lol nope, according to the lore she didn't know. Orobashi didn't tell anyone about this thing. If she had known than Celestia would punish her too plus her Tengu friend was killed in his war along with several other watasumi islanders. This was a desperate action of Orobashi to escape Celestia's wrath
Now that I see this video and read all the lore, Watatsumi losing Orobashi was their own fault lol. They attacked Inazuma first. The Shogunate was just minding its own business and not even trying to take Watatsumi or anything. If anything, Inazuma was just defending their own lands. The Watatsumi people kind of have no right to be mad at the Shogunate, at least not until the Vision Hunt Decree.
Even after the Vision Hunt decree it didn't give Watasumi the right to destroy all of the Narukami shrines in the region. Wars often have a true purpose, and then a propaganda purpose. The Vision Hunt decree was the excuse to go to war, the propaganda purpose. The real purpose was to eradicate the worship of the Shogun and replace it with the competing religion. If that was not true there would be no reason for them to wreck all the Narukami shrines. Was the Vision Hunt decree, which only affected a tiny percentage of the population of Watasumi worth erasing another religion and starting a bloody civil war over? They even destroyed the shrines on other islands that aren't part of their own during their expansion onto the islands in between. Like an invader on a crusade would. The resistance aren't the good guys.
@@ChronicUptier correct me if im wrong, but wasn't the one who destroyed the shrines the traitor? Nathan, the secret fatui that infiltrated the resistance? i mean he probably did get a few resistance soldiers to help him by manipulating and angering them but still, im pretty sure the shrines were the fatuis plan to anger both sides and keep the war going. i might be wrong tho
It's quite common in war for the nation at fault to be mad and wanting 'revenge' for the other nation's defence of themselves. No news there, just like real life.
@@Chen_Han or the application of a certain religion. It is clear that orobashi never had any desire for war. It's the people that used him as an excuse. Religion is just an excuse for people to start wars they want to start anyways.
So basically the Shogunate were defending their home from the Watatsumi people and their far away deity. Also, maybe if Ourabashi hadn't interfered with Enkanomiya then perhaps , there wouldn't have been a need for a different civilization to struggle with food shortages and such. From what it seemed, Ourabashi was an outsider avoiding conflict too, but also pushed into it once they had a civilization of their own.
In the book it kinda written orobashi try to fulfill his subject's wishes, it's not just "why don't they just trade" they want better home to settle down, remember, they came from the depth, they pray to their god for more fertile land & orobashi try to fulfill it for them even though he know it is impossible. It would be great if orobashi just chillin n want audience with makoto asking for extra land for watatsumi people, though i doubt people of yashiori island willing to give some & the watatsumi people gonna wage war for land nonetheless After the defeat some people move on some people don't. And the fact a lot of narukami people shitting on them for their belief did not help either.
I mean, they already did peace negotiations in the start, and Watatsumi started the attack, so its just wise that Ei would slay Orobashi. Orobashi should have known that if you invade other lands, it is a declaration of war against the Gods in that Island.
Orobashi was forced by celestia to bring enkonomiya people to surface which he protected so long and was his family. But people starts to die, without food and fertile soil he was watching his family die. He knew he would die fighting Shogun but he still did. He was a good god. Celestia are power hungry bunch, but sadly people won't talk about that.
This is absolutely fantastic. The narration, the edit, everything is just *chef kiss*. I got the new bow and spear from wishing for the elegy bow yesterday, and the tales of the twin sisters and akuoumaru has been plaguing my mind every since. I didn't know there are new books added in the new patch and as a lore enjoyer, i feel ashamed. This video is godsent. Thank you so much for the amazing video. Keep up the good work!
Fun fact. Ei despite being a Kagemusha , in this part of the story act more like an actual Dai Shogun. Initially , the role of the Shogun wasn't to rule over the Country and puppet the Emperor but to conquer , suppress and subjugate Emishi people, or Barbarians as a leading Grand General. However as Samurai grew more powerful and influential. They started fighting against each other in a war known as Genpei War then became a Second Government ruling alongside the Imperial Government. Then even sometime later, after another war, the Shogun completely dominated Japan and the Emperor became a puppet until the Meiji Restoration.
Damn..the lore is freaking amazing. I thought fans said inazuma lore is boring..but actually they arent really pay attention to side lore.. My opinion on the watatsumi people.. they pretty much torn on being grateful or greedy because of the infertile land. While orobaxi probably didnt want to fight the shogun because he definitely knew that shogun is one of the seven strongest archon as they won the freaking archon war. Poor him, he got to see the full power of musou no hitotachi and dead miserably..
I feel like the enkanomiya depths will be like atlantis. And maybe we can either dive and swim underwater, or have an oxygen bar that drops until we can refill it by getting air bubbles, items, or standing next to something(think like torches in dragonspine). Personally i hope we get that dragon of the depths as a weekly boss. Im tryna smoke his pack and finish the work orobaxi started.💪🏾
Thanks for a making a vid about this! I really like Orobashi and very interested in his story, but I got no time to play genshin much lately and do the digging myself.
Watching this video i couldn't help thinking about this story in anime form..... i know it would be a little too violent for mihoyo but i think it would be great especially with a lot of blood haha.
Aight, so the biggest question: why in all hells does Watatsumi's (and Orobashi's) first choice to resolve their problem comes in the form of *war against the Shogunate?!* How was negotiations for at least cooperation or land-sharing not their first attempt? If what you said is true, then the people of Watatsumi were so utterly stupid that they challenged an established nation led by the Electro Archon herself. Not only that, but the people of Narukami weren't even attacking Watatsumi either, and considering Orobashi and Makoto seemed at least understanding of each other's positions, why in the fuck was his first move to invade Yashiori?? The civil war wasn't a tragedy because of the atrocity that happened. It was a tragedy because of how stupid the reasons behind it were.
Indeed. Thankfully this is an easy fix from Mihoyo (if they want symphathy for Watatshumi) to have them negotiate first. If these Negotiations weren't meeting the needs of the people then war, though extreme, may be understandable. Heck you could add in Narukami people's Xenophobia that we know too well to make this conflict make sense. As it stands. Yes Watatshumi was stupid. And they killed their god in the process.
All of those who are involved were just victims of their circumstances. To me, I think that the greatest evil here in Teyvat is Celestia and its heavenly principles. Why would the archons gave their gnosis up so easily, there is really something distasteful and despicable in there that made the archons quit. The traveler protects the gnosis from the fatui because of what happened to Venti and we pick fights with them that are not worth the effort in the end, they still ended up getting it anyway because the gnosis were given to them deliberately.
Wow ..this was a well told video Was really preoccupied and left studies to listen I was looking for this reason why orobashi did that.... Truly watatsumi people deserves more .... Thanks for telling us the story
Yeah I kinda wish they made us choose between the 2 factions but that would disrupt the linearity of the story. Still that would be nice so that it makes us seem to believe that we are in control 😩
The fired the first arrow... in a war that happened and concluded hundreds of years ago. There is no conflict of joining the rebellion when a god with 1000% aggro tried to execute you in public but somehow you managed to flee.
Wow damn. I had to rewatch the Raiden Shogun trailer and the first to go was Sasayuri the tengu mask guy right after, indeed, flashing an image of Beelz fighting Orobashi.
i really love the lore of watatsumi. within inazuma they have the most beautiful yet tragic lore. now im curious about the dragon heir. were they really bad? maybe they just eroded. so curious about kokomi's divine blood too.
I always had this feeling that the resistance along with the fatui were the true villains of the inazuma story, in fact they are the only ones to benefit at the end of the conflict.
watching this video after reading the watatsumi weapon series lore (mouun's moon bow, wavebreaker fin polearm, and akuoumaru claymore) feels like unlocking a new knowledge lol. i finally understood the story. thank you!!
I really REALLY hope that after 5 years of this game, Mihoyo would make a game like a prequel telling the story of the whole Archon wars and other Battles occured in teyvat we'll have a chance to see those big creatures and also young Zhongli and friends and maybe we got to play as young zhongli dawning his archon clothes OMG that would be awsome!!!!! @@farinhaespacial2982 trading could give temporary relief to give a symptomatic relief not a permanent one, doing this would make it fully reliant on Inazuma for living since they had already no cultivable land. @@farinhaespacial2982 i personally don't think they had any official peace agreement, more like Inazuma was just silent on the topic. There weren't any bilateral talks or anything. Island was made from a coral growing from body of orobashi so it wasn't an Inazuma property so they were just silent not officially accepting it. Maybe watatsumi island people took this as Inazuma authority not wanting to accept their presence, which might have lead to bitter feelings towards each other. Silence from both side was the cause of war. Inazuma authority couldn't just accept a newly form island as in the age of gods accepting a god ruling would be a disastrous choice sending a bad message to Teyvat and might be perceived as that Inazuma archon was afraid and thus let other god stand. This might make Inazuma look as a weak nation. Watatsumi people were bitter from the treatment on how Inazuma just remained silent and ignored their presence or probably they thought that Inazuma authority remained silent since their god was more powerful. All this bitterness and misconceptions added with internal problems, lead watatsumi to this war. Two things that I have doubts about 1. I always thought that Orobashi attacked Yahiroi Island due to some corruption just like the Abyss did with Dvalin 2. In the end of second part you sounded like it was this incident that became a motivation for the rebelion against the Vision Hunt Decree but if I remember correctly there has been said (perhaps by Kokomi herself) that this war and the death of Orobashi has nothing to do with the Resistance and Watatsumi Island oposing the Vision Hunt Decree But besides those two facts this video was a-ma-zing and I love the way you have been speaking about those events. i think we were imagining the dragonheir much different from what we saw in enkanomiya this patch. It may also explain why it was... sealed, since how can you wipe out the whole race of "dragons" (since if i understand the new world quest correctly, the oppression of people in enkanomiya wasnt from one entity, but from a race of... water dragon vishaps?).
Please make more! of each region! I love your professional narration. You do not joke around and be childish like many other lore casters. Well done sir. Subscribed Subscribed!
I do not know much about genshin lore, but in real life what you would see on the feudal Japan battlefield are mainly polearms and bows. You won't see swords, unless they are Nodachi sized (pretty big ones). Cavalry would be common, especially mounted. I did not know Genshin had so many historical inspirations beyond Sekoku (the main story of Inazuma), but it looks like they took into account the Sengoku Jidai and its many civil wars to establish the supremacy of a Shogun. We are currently living the Edo Jidai days of Inazuma, and Ei has accelerated things by both starting and ending the equivalent of Sekoku in less than two years.
There would be a new map to explore in Inazuma and its possibly Enkanomiya, it is said to be underwater with new monsters/enemies. Anyway I'm so curious about the future of these dragons that were sealed in various regions of Teyvat...
I guess we can assume now why Orobashi wanted the books sealed in Enkonomiya I’m going to assume he was hiding the intervention of one of Phanes shades (Istaroth; The God of Time). I’ve theorized Phanes did not in fact win the second war and the Second Who Came was likely seeking to destroy the Shades. Istaroth could very well be the final living Shade so Orobashi kept this being hidden.
After the ritual we saw Kokomi perform to bring fertility back to the soils of watatsumi and reading more about the fact they are practically dependent on Inazuma to survive... it's actually very sad what Orobashi had to do. Even if he had been civil, Watatsumi island isn't stable for life. It's soils aren't fertile, and it needs constant yearly rituals to sustain its people. To live a normal lufe, Orabshi's people needed to be on Inazuman soil and that was simply impossible
Great video as usual! This is really tragic honestly, but I feel more sorry for the people of Watatsumi in all honesty. The people of Narukami are doing well enough to have an advanced military and a rich culture not to mention their patron is an Archon. Watatsumi on the other hand has a patron god who ran away from the archon war, he couldn't kill the dragon that terrorised them and could only seal it away at best, the seal in turn makes their soil infertile, and their God was slain because of their failed attempt to claim fertile lands to solve their famine problems. Now many of the people have a deep resentment for the Narukami, even though they were at fault. Then again what choice did the have when all they knew was starvation and a desire for greener pastures? Its great that Kokomi is wise and level headed enough put the needs of her people first before their desire for revenge.
Yeah idk man, the people of Watatsumi seemed to pester their god too much, and thus caused his death. The Sangonomiya blame the shogunate for it, but they also should have considered that there was a reason Orobashi lost the Archon war and that he would never be able to match the Shogun’s power, even in his serpent form (I assume he had a humanoid form for accessibility and portability)
Considering even after a second war between them, the shogunate was still willing to do trade with Watatsumi, they could’ve approached their neighbors peacefully. If trade proves not enough, they could’ve simply sought to allow to settle Yashiori alongside the Narukami.
Actually, the Shogun was more than generous to Watatsumi. Even after they invaded her people, she still extended her protection over them, going as far as allowing them to worship their dead serpent god. Meanwhile, the people of Watatsumi still resent her to this day, despite the great mercy and generosity showed to them. Even after the recent civil war they were not interested in peace, but instead wanted to continue killing as many shogunate soldiers as they could. Watatsumi are a warmongering people. Nothing has changed over the centuries. They started at least 2 wars against Narukami to date. And let's not forget that they didn't shy away from war crimes against civilians, like unleashing the Tatarigami on Yashiori island. They have no moral grounds to stand on.
@@holdemagroin1167 aaa I just watched the video abt the yashiori island and it was so sad :(( those loyalist literally destroyed a whole island just to revive their fallen god smh
17:58 "thousands of years" is a slight exaggeration of the timeline since you said yourself that the invasion and Orobashi's untimely demise happened after the Archon War, and the Aechon War have been assumed to have ended at least 2000 years ago. The "hatred and humiliations" may have been engraved on the Watatsumi Islanders of hundreds of years, but I doubt "thousands" count as a safe estimate.
@@jivanjovan but he specifically said "hatred and humiliations". As far as I'm concerned, the rift between Inazumans and Watatsumi Islanders only started after the invasion of Watatsumi on Yashiori Island and the death of Orobashi the "Watatsumi Omikami". The said battle is unlikely to have happened in more than or around two thousand years which would've then been part of the Archon War, which leads us to a thousand years or less to say that it wasn't during the time when gods fought for a seat in Celestia. Thus, "thousands of years" is indeed a small error in this video. Not like it affects the video in and of itself, but it could lead to misconceptions for those who are keen yet too naive to sum up and realize this flaw.
i think he was merely citing the source: "The flames of these hatreds and humiliations, borne and nursed over hundreds and thousands of years, can be fanned by those with an agenda in leaner years and ultimately bring catastrophe upon the nation." (from A Preliminary Study of Sangonomiya Folk Belief). I do agree with your points though.
One question tho... Did she really use the Tachi/Sword to Orobashi? According to Musou Isshin Lore in Raiden Shogun.
"The day Makoto passed on, it was given into Ei's hands. The sword was stained with blood, then, and as the blade drew its first taste of crimson, it was blown aside by wild winds and blazing thunder."
If tozannou was killed with the MnH during the War. It doesn't add up to this
It was only given to Ei when Makoto Died.
Thank You
Very Awesome Retelling by the way...
I'll pin your comment so that future viewers will be informed :)
Thanks for the clarifications!
@@KlemenTime Thank you as well for pinning this, first time to be honest. Once again, loved your video, I love the diagram of the war
@@KlemenTime
Actually she used it., this was taken from the genshin impact wiki
The Musou Isshin is a legendary sword that was originally created from Raiden Makoto's divine might. While it was in Makoto's possession, the blade was kept unsharpened and unused, and was used as a symbol of true peace. After her death during the cataclysm 500 years ago, it was passed on to her sister Ei, who began to use it as a weapon in battle.[1]
After creating the Shogun, Ei transferred her consciousness into the Musou Isshin and created the Plane of Euthymia, while the sword itself is kept within the Shogun and summoned through her chest.
@@Aaron-dj6ft Orobashi's attack was about after/during Archon war like 2,000 years ago. Ei only got the sword after Makoto died during the Cataclysm which is about 500 years ago.

B
I feel bad for the god in this one. They didn't want to start a war, but their people manipulated them into it. If people has attempted trade rather than attacking, there would've been a union of two countries and 3 god in their land (Beelzebud, Baal and Orobashi). They could trade crafts while bying resources. Trade fish, aquacultural things. Anything to do with stone and ores. Pearl crafts.
I don't think so, why would Makoto give them Inazuma people lands....
Would any country give another country land just because they are poor? Nope
At most they can give them temporary relief but not any permanent thing like land
Trading could have helped them a little but not a lot. Fishing is not going to be very successful trade when whole Inazuma itself is near sea. On top of it their whole land went totally unfertile and unyielding so they didn't have a lot of options
@@AJ-jy6jq

This is not ideal for watsurumi, and especially orobashi as he would lose the right to rule but, like Scotland, Wales and northen Ireland, wealth from the British empire trickle down into these three countries from England which improved the wider population quality of live.

War brings only death and suffering. If they attacked by force, there could be only one outcome...

But when it comes to the "good intention" of electro archon, people are livid because she took people's vision/ambition. Both are decided for their people's sake, yet both of them are failed to fulfill it and only bring more misery to their people.

Maybe Orobashi escaped secretly from the archon war?

It’s bc Orobashi is the best deity
Orobashi accidentally read a book which detailed the time before the big lighthouse was built. At that time, Teyvat belonged to a single civilization and the gods had not yet arrived. For reading this book, Celestia sentenced Orobashi to death. In order to let the people of Enkanomiya continue living as humans, Orobashi kept the truth from them and forfeited his life. To do so, Orobashi pretended to migrate his people, sealed Enkanomiya and attacked Narukami so that he can cover up his execution.
From a redditor Captain_B0B
Well, that Abyss Herald in Enkanomiya confirmed this.

You skipped through around 900 years of Japanese history but I guess its kinda still accurate.

Aight, so the biggest question: why in all hells does Watatsumi's (and Orobashi's) first choice to resolve their problem comes in the form of *war against the Shogunate?!*
How was negotiations for at least cooperation or land-sharing not their first attempt?
And they killed their god in the process.

i really love the lore of watatsumi. within inazuma they have the most beautiful yet tragic lore. now im curious about the dragon heir. were they really bad? maybe they just eroded. so curious about kokomi's divine blood too.
Another good video...this channel is very underrated and i cant wait for another lore
Good job brother.
i loved this video so much, your presentation always makes lore so much more interesting to watch. thank you for this
watatsumi in the lore: food won't grow, the soil is bad
watatsumi in the game: i see trees, grasses, many plants thriving everywhere
i come from the future... and all i can say is... poor orobashi....
4:20 Yeah, as long as we only get to SEE not FIGHT cause, I wont even go near a dragon so huge it can fit 10 Dvalins inside it.
I always had this feeling that the resistance along with the fatui were the true villains of the inazuma story, in fact they are the only ones to benefit at the end of the conflict.
Oh my gosh I love this. I have always wondered why Oroabashi attacked Narukami. 😍
Dudeeeee, the video, the editing, the quality, the way you narrate the story exceeds 100%! This is so well done! You got yourself a new subscriber.
watching this video after reading the watatsumi weapon series lore (mouun's moon bow, wavebreaker fin polearm, and akuoumaru claymore) feels like unlocking a new knowledge lol. i finally understood the story.
And the ending of the game is when we get to see the heavenly principles stepping to the Archon war ending it by destroying them all then roll credits 🍿
Oooh that's actually nice! I'd play the hell out of that game
@@KlemenTime I forgot to add that the side quest can be the story of the Fatui and the first one is about La Signora and Rostam (or what's his name again??) So we can be more immersed to the world building that Mihoyo made at Genshin Impact and the Orabashi fight OMG Baal and giant white snake sign me UP!!!
I came ready to be spoiled because I haven’t finished enkanomiya yet, and I’m glad this video is from before it was released! I am still informed and still unspoiled!
KlemenTime I adore your videos, tysm for the hard work!
So yeah, thanks for this story. I was so intrigued about what exactly happened and I'm glad I came across your story. But knowing that Orobashi couldn't win against Shogun and decided to fight nevertheless is the reason why he had to die, so his people can get a better future.
The hell, this is better than some lore videos I watch.
I have been looking for more Genshin Lore UA-camrs like yourself who not only rely on the quests but also the materials and books from the game!
Good work and subscribed!
Orobashi could've solved the land problem peacefully with trading agreements with Makoto tbh
I don't think so, why would Makoto give them Inazuma people lands....
Would any country give another country land just because they are poor? Nope
At most they can give them temporary relief but not any permanent thing like land
@@AJ-jy6jq nope, not the lands, resources, Makoto gives food and Orobashi gives pearls, for example
@@farinhaespacial2982 trading could give temporary relief to give a symptomatic relief not a permanent one, doing this would make it fully reliant on Inazuma for living since they had already no cultivable land. Being totally reliant on a country is almost as good as surrendering to them and I don't think watatsumi people wanted that. They wanted a land and to be self dependent and reliant.
Also it's not like watatsumi have a lot of things to trade, Inazuma is a sea shore country too, so most of the things available in watatsumi are already available in Inazuma too
@@AJ-jy6jq good point, but they already had a peace agreement with a much stronger country (Inazuma), their fate was sealed with it, to be enslaved or to die horribly
Main factor was that probably they weren't aware of might of Inazuma archon as she hadn't fought in a long while. As shown in video they weren't weak and would have won if not for presence of Ei
The saddest part is where both sides lose their beloved ones and deities...🥲
inazuma doesn't know their og archon died though, even if they know they had twin archon
Now that we have enkanomya we know why Orobashi was forced to fight and what are the tomes locked in the depths
I wish more people could watch this great presentation.
Wait what the hell... I actually thought at first this is Kazuha talking HAHAHA
man the video quality is so good! looking forward to more!
This video and channel is genuinely so underappreciated, the editing in this one is simply amazing
Thanks for compiling all of the lore in this single video.
9:14
JEEZ. That whale was rolling DEEP😂
amazing quality. love the way you show clips. it’s like a movie
How can a nation so beautiful and ethereal have such a tragic backstory.
18:00 it wasnt hundreds or thousands of years
archon war was already over when this happened (no confirmation but makoto and ei were already leaders) so it was less than 500 years ago.
It is, read musoujin gorge description
"...the legendary scene that tore through the sky and earth THOUSAND of years ago"
She cut orobashi with her polearm (look at the trailer)
If this happened in less than 500 years, she would use musou isshin (makoto sword)
@@mukil2399 alright fine. but it still wasn't during archon war. archon war was over by the time kaenriah's cataclysm happened.
so it was close to 500 years ago
If only Oribashi didn't listen to his people.
Use of Shogun 2 Fall of the Samurai music is ingenious in this.
As Inazuma Archon War / Watasumi-Narukami War felt like a parallel Yamato Expansion.
The editing, the voiceover. Really really enjoyed the video
i mean makato and ei were so kind that they let live watatsumi and orobashi in complete freedom even after these much things happened ei allows them to worship their deity.. then why orobashi and those stupid watatsumi people instead of attacking just asked for helpor maybe something like pearl or fish for trade ?they had 0 chance against shogun still they attacked a nation that was doing it's own business.. how stupid and reckless they were😑
I don't think so, why would Makoto give them Inazuma people's lands....
Would any country give another country land just because they are poor? Nope
At most they can give them temporary relief but not any permanent thing like land, and what watatsumi people needed was a permanent solution
@@AJ-jy6jq i mean orabashi shouldve just offered his nation to the Shogunate if he wanted a way out for his people and he himself, quite foolish of him to try to invade the Shogunate after making a deal with Makoto, leaving his people alone and letting them worship him after his death is the greatest mercy Ei gave them after losing soldiers and her Lieutenant
@@maliciousqueefer3427 i don't think he ever had any treaty with Makoto.
Makoto was just silent about watatsumi, she neither approved nor resisted
Also what's even a god without followers
@@AJ-jy6jq even if they agreed to something with or without a treaty, it should be pretty obvious why Inazuma is doing so well despite that theres an ongoing archon war and betraying the Shogunate who leads a strong nation is extremely stupid too, Oroboshi wasnt a great God nor is Ei but goddamn did he screwed up
@@maliciousqueefer3427 orobashi came in Inazuma after escaping from somewhere, so I don't think he was aware of power of electro Archon.
Makoto's act of not saying anything was probably taken by watatsumi people as either they aren't accepting their existence or Inazuma is afraid
Wooo new video! Ima watch it when I get home from work
Such an underrated channel...
Hope you gain more followers! U deserve it bro..
I hope you have Spotify podcast cause i love listening while working
Amazing job man. High quality content and narration
Two things that I have doubts about
1. I always thought that Orobashi attacked Yahiroi Island due to some corruption just like the Abyss did with Dvalin
2. In the end of second part you sounded like it was this incident that became a motivation for the rebelion against the Vision Hunt Decree but if I remember correctly there has been said (perhaps by Kokomi herself) that this war and the death of Orobashi has nothing to do with the Resistance and Watatsumi Island oposing the Vision Hunt Decree
But besides those two facts this video was a-ma-zing and I love the way you have been speaking about those events. Also pardon me for my poor language I'm not a native english speaker
On number 2 tho. Although she is saying it like that, her people doesnt feel the same way. In her story quest, some of watatsumi people still wanted beef with the shogunate although kokomi tried her best to stop them. Clearly they still have hatred.
this deserves a like and subscribe, for someone like me who is too lazy to read all the things in the game, it really is convenient having someone tell all the tales
i think we were imagining the dragonheir much different from what we saw in enkanomiya this patch.
I kinda feel bad for Orobashi. He didn’t want to fight. Just wanted to help his people.
I guess we can assume now why Orobashi wanted the books sealed in Enkonomiya
I’m going to assume he was hiding the intervention of one of Phanes shades (Istaroth; The God of Time).
I’ve theorized Phanes did not in fact win the second war and the Second Who Came was likely seeking to destroy the Shades. Istaroth could very well be the final living Shade so Orobashi kept this being hidden.
To be perfectly fair Orobashi is the one who breach the agreement with Makoto. Zhongli would do the same if his contract is breached.
There's no statement about that.
Your videos always make me feel watching a movie. Btw thanks for all these summaries and your hard work! >
Im glad you enjoyed it☺️
The content quality-
You might as well get hired by mihoyo.
Thank you for such a great video.
I hope you revisit Orobashi content since Enkanomiya was released.
now that enkanomiya was realeased, u must be mindblown;
also your theory at the end about orobashi being forced by the heavens has some truth to it
After the ritual we saw Kokomi perform to bring fertility back to the soils of watatsumi and reading more about the fact they are practically dependent on Inazuma to survive... it's actually very sad what Orobashi had to do.
The "hatred and humiliations" may have been engraved on the Watatsumi Islanders of hundreds of years, but I doubt "thousands" count as a safe estimate.
i think he meant 1000-2000 years, hundreds of years feel too short
Wait! So those books that the abyss herald was after! they were the books orobashi ordered sealed away! that makes sooo much sense!
