I wonder if the 'abyssal corruption' that happened to Takamine actually...morphed him into an abyssal creature, like an abyss mage or smth. So when he finally reunited with Hibiki, in her eyes...he looked like an abyss mage and so she shot him. Also, not quite related, but in Diluc's story quest you fought an abyss mage named Landrich and there was an aristocrat in Mondstadt with the same name. So maybe this 'abyssal corruption' isn't limited to the ppl of Khaenri'ah only.
That's actually a possible scenario that happened when they met again :O It's quite interesting how Takamine regained his consciousness and returned to Inazuma.

UPDATE: It appears that they've changed Kanade's name to "Hibiki." I double-checked the description of the Shimenawa to confirm it, and it was. The user (DQueenie13) explained that the possible reason could be that the kanji for her first name can be translated multiple ways. Whereas, "Hibiki" is actually the more common reading, and it's unclear why the translation team went with "Kanade." It's possible that they looked it up on Jisho (Online JP Dictionary), which listed Kanade before Hibiki for reasons also unknown.

What i wanna know is why did Durin get sent after Mond in particular. It seems like both of her prized works and the most destructive ones too, were sent to Mond. Why is that. Albedo is still residing there, if he gets corrupted is it intended to br Rhindotir's last laugh against them. A long overdue last stand thru Albedo?
This story reminds of the story of 'Inuyasa' inuyasha was a 'swordsman' fell in love with a priestess「shrine maiden」 but the lady was tricked to being betrayed and sealed inuyasha believing she killed him. *if you watched Inuyasha, you would understand*
I love all the storytelling effort you put into your videos, even using in-game characters and locations to act as visuals. I have read up on Takamine and Kanade front to back, but still watched this video because of your storytelling. Keep up the good work! EDIT: I want to correct that Takamine owned the original Mistsplitter sword. The Mistsplitter Reforged was forged from the remains of the Mistsplitter sword they were able to retrieve from the battlefield.
Can't seem to edit my edit, but I saw later in the video that you did mention it was broken and reforged. Still, in the script it would have been more accurate to call the original sword just the Mistsplitter. It's a minor error though, so good work overall.

im honestly invested in takamine as a character & his story. i would really like to see an actual representation or some sort of animation/art form regarding his reunion with kanade (hibiki) bc it all seems so tragic. the whole corruption thing from the abyss, to the losses & effects from the cataclysm. i would’ve liked to see these events more outlined in inazuma’s world quests instead of the artifacts, weapons, books, etc. eeeek. thank u for this video~
Pretty sure takamine returning was before ako domeki's rebellion, she probably let go of thundering fury because takamine returned, even if ahe was corrupted and so she lost her bet and that is why she was using hamayumi by then instead of thundering fury.
This is a sad story… still hoping they will provide a conclusion to it though I think the most sad story in the game, is the handicap man child who doesn’t know his parents died…

i cried when i read more of Hibiki and Takamine’s moments from the artifacts lore bruh they almost had a forbidden relationship but Hibiki knew where she stands 😭😭💔💔 also in THE CATCH and HAMAYUMI lore when she got older and met Ako Domeki, she imagined if she and Takamine ended up together maybe their son would be the same age as Ako Domeki 😔😢💔

Yeah we were actually planning to make an updated version of it when Baal and Sara becomes available and when the 2 islands gets unlocked 😅 it just feels more true to the source (kinda sad we can't have a playable kitsune saiguu tho...)
Slight nitpick i guess: Takamine's original sword was simply named after his namesake, 'Mistsplitter'. The playable version is only regarded as Mistsplitter 'Reforged' since only like 20% of the fragments could be recovered and the resulting product is effectively only christened Mistsplitter in honour of its original owner and to inherit the name, since now its more like a regular sword with Lego pieces on it.
It's the calamity during the cataclysm. From the Hakushin Ring, there is a text that says the abyss "has a will of its own" so maybe its like a dark aura that corrupts people...

Hibiki was a Shrine Maiden under the mentorship of Kitsune Saiguu. She also had an on-off relationship with Takamine (The Mistsplitter). Then the Cataclysm happened and Raiden Makoto went to Khaenriah together with her friends including Takamine and Kitsune Saiguu but they were beaten(?) and were both consumed by the Abyss. However, Takamine still returned to Hibiki because he wants to win their wager that they both made before he left for Khaenriah. Hibiki instead shot him and killed him to not let him suffer under the Abyss. She then went to Seirai Island and joined Ako Domeki's rebellion. Hibiki released the power of the Thunderbird which then damaged the Shogunate Ships but also took losses on their side. The End 😅

Nope her full name is Asase Hibiki. There was a mistranslation for her name by the English localization of MiHoYo 😅 I think it was changed on 2.1

Well Tsaritsa was changed forever by it. So its possible welll get more introcate lore whenever we get to see Snezhnaya
