I use the 3 inch version on my 3 inch Rupes. They are amazing pads. Haven't tried the bigger ones cause I'm stuck on old ways.
In the middle you said the second step is to remove the deeper sanding marks? Sounds backwards?
What about the lc blue 100% wool pad? I used it on a black and white hull with menzerna 1000, it took 800 grit wet sanding scratches out with ease.

What do you think about using starke lever R, then starke elevate, then nautical one ceramic ????? Looking at upgrading my stuff and I am giving this pad a try! Hard to find on Amazon I ordered it and they are going fast! You are an innovator!
Hey Drake. Do you think it’s possible to do a full detail on a boat that’s docked at a harbor in water. Most of my customers have their boat in water..I understand underneath won’t be done but I’d like to work on everything possible to make a customer happy. Can you do a tutorial?
Is this good for removing oxidation aswell?
Hey Drake. I was doing my van and used the orange pad with the Flex, still had swirl marks. Switched to the grey Lake Country forced foam, still swirl marks. The purple took them right off. All these steps were with Medzerna 400. But the purple foam pad has no padding-should I have used a foam interface pad? It worked without one, but I’m wondering if that would be better. Thanks.

Been using lc foamed purple wool since 2011. By far my favorite cutting pad. Most of the time I just use poor boys professional polish. Instead of compound. There are no abrasives and zero dust. It's completely pad dependent. All I do is change pads . Not polishes. Saves me over 500 in compoubds and polishes a year. And it's cheap at 74 dollars a gallon.

How do you fix sun damaged Gelcoat.. not just oxidation. But those tiny spider cracks.
A few guys I’ve talked to are rarely using their rotary on gel now because of LC purple and low lint pads
Looking for an all around tool, not really wanting to buy a rotary if I can do most everything with the a Flex. Can you get similar results with the LC Purple on the Flex that you can with the rotary?
@@BombsorDingers sorry for late reply. Yes. Especially if you’re doing some sanding before polishing steps. Check out the makita forced rotation polisher.

The purple foam wall pad is a second step. The first step would be to use a white wool on a Rotary, Then use the purple pad with a finer compound, then use the orange on a forest rotation, or a DA polisher

Yea can, if you use a white wool then follow up with a medium cut yellow wool

I've got a 21mm random orbital buffer (Milwaukee) and I want to buff some heavy oxidation off my mastercraft ski boat... what would you recommend?
I’d recommend a rotary buffer for heavy oxidation.

If on a darker tan color would you still use that foam wool pad or go back to your bread and butter with the orange pad ?
Either will typically work, I like my orange foam!
Can’t find the stake elevate is that like the menzerna 3500?

A lot!
They will typically break down a lot faster.
They dry up and don’t cut as much.
How do you suggest cleaning the purple foamed wool pad?
You can string it out with warm soapy water, but truthfully it’s one of those pads where once it’s gone it’s gone, and you just get a new one
@@DrakesDetailingthey make a boot tassel thing that separates the fibers a bit and helps. Just air it out often as well 👌
RUPES med cut wool pad can also replace the twisted wool, I learned this on my last boat, I tossed my twisted wool pads..OUT OF DATE.
Im also using Malco tru-grit heavy duty...Do you know a compound that is more aggressive?...thanks in advance..
Do you have to make sure it keeps spinning on a DA machine?
You cannot use this pad with a DA, Rotary only
@@DrakesDetailing The LC site says you can use this on a DA. Would there be an benefit to using this on a DA followed by an orange pad? Both using elevate. I only have a DA right now.

No not really. You will still need the rotary for Javier oxidation

For what these boats cost, it should come from the factory already looking like this!
If you pay $1.2M-$1.4M for a boat, it damn well better not come from the factory needing thousands of dollars in detail work and gelcoat correction. I would be PISSED! Can you imagine buying a factory new Ferrari LaFerrari (the same price) only to need a paint correction done upon delivery? (This also applies to that factory new Mag Bay.)
A $1.4M boat should come with its own deck monkey.

Wool won’t polish. Wool is for cutting and correcting. Period! The final finish you showed was hazy. There shouldn’t be ANY haze when you’re done. You want complete optical clarity!
If you’re not finish polishing with a foam pad you’re not going to get a good result. And that was not a good result.
