Thank you!
Another banging video!!! 👊🏻
Thanks bro!
Hey men, I just star working this same exatly boat model here in Puerto Rico, just few weeks ago! You give great ideas and super tips to how work and maintain this boat. Thank you very much and keep doing a great job! 👍🛥⛵
Great job! Good info on products and training
Thanks!
We have a 2008 Leopard 46. You have done an absolutely amazing job on this! Miracle worker!
thanks! ❤️🔥🔥
@@DrakesDetailing Wish you were closer. We’re in Brunswick, GA now. We’ve struggled and your videos have helped a lot.
Great job
Thanks bro! Forward to being on your channel soon!
Thanks for the video! Always look forward to them. Question, any tips on cleaning and taking care of Bimini tops?
I like using dawn and water maybe alittle degreaser to clean heavier stains.
Then I apply 303 fabric guard.
Thank you
Anytime!
Except for an occasional wash and wax of my own cars by hand, I never did any "detailing". This June I purchased a 2016 42 Regal. I live in the North and boat in the Great Lakes so the boats stay in heated storage for 6 months of the year. This boat was already in the water when I purchased it. With COVID we are not doing any winter traveling so I decide to tackle the detail myself. After binge watching your videos I purchased a Griot's Garage G8 & G15 and started my project. As you said it had more oxidation than I expected. I started off with a small selection of pads for each machine and was quite shocked when my gray pad flew off the machine, after a few hours of work! 😳😂 My question is on a bigger boat how often do you need to change pads and how can you tell that the pad needs to be cleaned or changed before it goes flying off the machine? BTW your a great teacher, I learned everything I know from your videos!👨🎓
Thanks for watching and all the comments!
In a nut shell, the longer the throw in a DA the quicker the pads typically wear out. In your case you have a 15mm throw. Most DAs around 3- 8 mms.
On the flip side of that, ALWAYS start and stop the machine when pressed against the surface. If you lift the machine up while it’s running it will basically sling the pad off!
Most boats under 30ft require about 2 pads per step.
Pads don’t last forever when compounding. Polishing and waxing you can get a few uses out of them.
How did you handle the price? I also do this for a living over in the UK and am just curious.. if you quoted for a wash and wax and then ended up having to do sanding stages and polishing.. was the happy to pay more?
Drake! Please help! After compounding, Menzerna 400, Elevate & hyperhold my black boat looked brand new. I sprayed on Nautical 1 SiO2 and hosed it off and the whole boat has a film. It rubs off with a microfiber but not very easily. Any advice?
I like the vlog style. Change up!
Thanks bro!
The only problem is that I csn't get the same products that you use here, just a few. The wax and polish products I can buy here are Meguiars and 3M the most.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks bro!
Hey Drake,
1 question and one piece of info.
I watch this guy a lot and he's very knowledgeable about boats. He has a video on best compounds for gel codes and he shows a compound that will get out 400 grit scratches.
You tube video
Pre launch quick tip #3 Best buffing compounds for your boats gelcoat
Might be worth a watch
Last video you answered a question of mine and I appreciate it and that led me to another question on what I heard you say on this video
After I would use Presta SuperCut compound then follow it up with menzerna 400. Would I wash the boat down with Dawn detergent before I put the Menzerna 400 on ? Then after I put the Menzerna 400 on and that will be in my case the final compound would I also wash it down or would I just leave it on without washing it.
Like this video and of course gave it the thumbs up

Thanks for the comment!
Do all of your compound and polishing steps then wash with dawn before applying your sealant
Diff question what is your favorite pair of Costas? Great videos
I personally love my Coasta Fantails.
Omg! I lived in Marathon for 26 yrs.
It’s beautiful down there!
Hey Drake, do you have a link for some good suction cups to tie the floating dock to??
I wish I did! Haha! I ended up buying some off of Amazon, and they were terrible😂
@DrakesDetailing haha no worries man! Keep up the great work!
What was that tool you used to clean the wool pad called?
A spur!
Curious is to why you did not use level r instead of restructure?
honestly just didn't think about it, ha both are good products. Level R probably would have worked better for this boat.
Hey, I need to purchase a Floating thing, or would I be better to make one?
I would definitely just buy one, less hassle, and if you do a lot of boats that are not pulled out of the water it will pay for itself quickly
Why not use the Stark deep cutting compound the 1000 800?
It was just a little too much oxidation for level r, so we went the extra mile with the wet sanding 😎
Do the waxes that come in spray bottles work efficiently? If so which one would you recommend ?
And what is a good cleaner to use that will protect your wax?
Most spray waxes don’t work well, but this stuff is great! It’s a Si02 ceramic spray. It will last about a month or 2. It’s great to go on top of your boat wax.

Drake, do you recall how much you made detaining this boat? And was that 4 days of work?
Hey bro! I honestly don’t really remember, I think it was upwards of 15-20k
Do you do compounding on the non skid as well?
I do! I have a video on that. I did not do that on this boat though...
@@DrakesDetailing thanks for the reply. I thought I had watched all of your videos...missed that one!
What are you using for a float ? I don't see the link.
Sorry, This is the float I recommend amzn.to/3aJsDxx
Is there ever a time you use clay bar on boats?
