    Dude... you're videos are taking my detailing to from a good detailer, to a grrrreat detailer. Definitely going to add the grios and flex to the arsenal! I'm a Marine tech by trade... but detailed for awhile when I first got into the field, and with a buddy with his own detailing business in Florida. So I'm atech first, detailer second... between consulting w/ my buddy and watching your videos, it's really helped me alot in just the few days of discovering your videos.
    I just started my own marine service & detail business last summer, so I've been getting back into buffing/ detailing again and i was having a problem with this boat i was buffing and saw one of your videos and it immediately helped me. I was working it too fast. Slowed it down & followed the side/side- up/down- side/ side method and BAM.
    Been watching/ listening to your videos all day today and learned a FUCK LOAD. from tools, products, pricing, quoting, what to look for and learning the wet sanding process.
    Just wanted to give you a shout out!
    And idk if you're the one doing the video editing or not...but it's phenomenal. Very engaging, good music and you do a kick ass job explaining everything.
    Now get your products back in stock so i can buy your shit!

    Great tutorial. I was old school before I watched your videos. I would aproch doing boats like when I do cars. Now if there is any chaulk at all I go straight to at least 1000 wet sand or if needed 500 them 1000. Thanks for what you do. I'll be getting my supplies through your website.

    Yo Drake, I just got into detailing boats about two years ago in New Jersey and I just stumbled into your videos recently. The results you get are incredible and the tips are truly helping me! I have been watching and yes of course liking as many videos as I can. I have so many questions as I am watching about certain nuances but just slowly picking up more as I watch more videos. Regardless, thank you very much and keep the videos coming, no detail of how you get the job done right is too small to share!

      Here in the UK I have a Montauk 150. My respect to both Jon K for a beautiful 230 Dauntless Whaler, to you for your excellent work and videos. My best refurbishment job so fsr has been to my boats black rub rail. Boston Whaler have yt vid on this, but it goes all by hand you mask of top and bottom of the rub rail then with several grit grades of paper stepping up from course 100,s up to the 1000’s. Just back and fourth it is a long job dusty bits everywhere. Then finish off with Acetone rubbed over the RR to just seal in the surface. Dress it with a nice matt finish or gloss trim or car wheel dressing and boom the look is amazing and with some hard work yet really, little in cost of materials. It is a great refresh to the look of your boat. Cheers

A couple of questions.. 1) What speed do you run the Abralon pads? 2) I have dual chrome looking vinyl stripes running along the water line. Can I run over these and the decals with all of the steps or should I avoid them with the Abralons? 3) Can I use 303 Fabric on vinyl cushions? 4) What boat do you personally have? We go to Orange Beach for a week every summer and run between FloraBama Yacht Club, Pirates Cove and Robinson's Island. Thanks for hooking us up with the videos! Mark from Oxford, MS.

Loved the video and your attention to detail is impressive! I'm in jacksonville and do boat detailing. I'd also say it says a lot about a detailer that is dedicated to it enough to watch others do it on UA-cam after doing it yourself all day. Lol. I mostly restore and flip my own boats but I do detail boats for a few people. My shop is off hekshire and 295. You can reach me at 7723807335.

    Drake...love the vid but if I have a 2018 SeaHunt with some scratches do I still need that 1000 grit Abralon ? Or 2k or 3k...there’s still some good gelcoat I really don’t want to sand off.

    Thanks for sharing the solid knowledge. I'm about to get my boat back in shape and had a question.....After pulling the pin striping and stickers from my boat there was a surprising difference between the finish under the stickers and the good looking finish on the sides. Is it possible to get the gel coat closer to the original shine/luster (under the stickers) by using this method IE wet sanding, buffing, and polishing?

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  8 місяців тому

      Hey bro, typically to get the faded/raised gelcoat that were used to be behind old decals and boot stripes typically need to be wet, sanded buffed, then polish tube, then match the rest of the gelcoat and worked out

    Great job wish you were in N.C. Quick question: Can Jescar be applied in full sun? Thanks

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  4 роки тому

      Yes it can! Don’t do a thick layer, you do not need much. Just a thin layer will be great. If you do a thick layer In the sun it can be hard to take off

    I hope I can make this question make sense. When you said you found yourself pushing and working harder with the white pad and then you went to the blue pad- what are you looking for on the gel coat that tells you that you should go up to the blue pad? Thanks as always!

      Its kinda hard to explain that over a comment ha... Mainly looking for the clarity, to see if I am removing all of the scratches form the sanding. It wasn't removing them easy so I was having to push hard to dig them out

    I am purchasing a 1999 Key West Boat 2220 CC. The in and out needs restoration. Do I need to wet sand or can I do a good wash and then go into the Starke R and then the Starke Medium? or the Menzerna? or the Presta Gel Coat compound? So many products, not sure the best order of product to use with having to restore. Also, what is the best way to remove old decals and if I am going to replace decals when is the best time to apply back on the boat? is it after the compound? Trying to be on a budget. What should be done with the bottom up to the waterline?

    Great video man always enjoyable! What is your deciding factor on when to dry sand or when to wet sand?

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  4 роки тому

      Pretty much on how dry it is, if it’s really chalky I will dry. If a little dull not a lot of chalk I will wet sand

    • @lisahuml9125
      @lisahuml9125 3 роки тому

      When your hull is very chalky, would you dry sand with 800 and then go wet with 1000, and if so, when do you know to make the switch to 1000, will a shine start with the 800? Thank you!

    wow nice work and great description of the products and their uses, Not that it really matters, but the pattern you are using i have hear it being referred to as basket weave or checker board, basically you work is similar to car paint correction, just its more aggressive but now that i have a boat i am going to use your videos as my research, thanks so much for sharing your process, regards, PS can you get anything from clay barring a boat?

    Hello !
    Thanks for the valuable information.
    I have a question. How can you wash boats under a pluming sun at 90 degrees ? Don't you have cooked water spots all over ?
    Is there a better boat soap to do it y=under the sun ?
    Is the soap removing your wax ?
    Thanks,

    Great Videos Drake! Not a detailer but have a boat and these videos save time and money! Quick question, i have a new 23 boat and want to give it its first wax. I bought Meguiar's Premium Boat Wax with a light foam pad? Would this work? Thanks

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  2 роки тому

      Hey LunaSea! Yes waxing with the white foam pad is fine, or the microfiber pad works good too! I’m personally not a fan of Meguires. I use all Starke Yacht care Products! There Hyperhold polymer sealant is the best! Give it a try! drakesmarinedetailsupply.com/collections/sealants/products/starke-hyper-hold-polymer-sealant

    Beautiful job. I had my boat detailed this spring and the black hull came out great, but the gentleman told me that the white topsides and interior were too far oxidized to restore. When I saw your process it made me think that I was mis-informed...as long as you don't go through the gelcoat, it can be brought back. What are your thoughts on this matter?

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  10 місяців тому

      Yes you are correct. However, if the gel coat is too thin you can’t restore it because you might go right through it, that’s what your detailer may have been trying to tell you

      When it comes to oxidation, I typically always like to wet sand first. I feel you get a much better and even cut when removing oxidation

    I'd like to see how to properly do an aluminum boat. We just got a used one and some point in its life it looks like someone either tried to buff it or maybe steel wool it and left swirl marks. Just curious if you can do anything for that and what a good sealant or whatnot would be.

    Drake great job man and very good videos. I absolutely dont know anything about any kind of sanding. Your videos and teaching makes it very easy to understand. I started on my sea ray 370 today and was scared to death to put sand paper on it but went with it.. When I got my boat a few months ago it was and is VERY chalky and oxidation very heavy. I am using the products I have on hand and hope it all pans out.. I started all by hand with 600, 800, 1000, and 1500 sandpaper. I am using the marine31 heavy oxidation and then the polish and wax to finish. Looks like a very deep shine.. I taged you on Facebook with so stared up pics.. Thanks man and keep up good work.. will continue to follow all videos...
