TenPoint Nitro 505 HONEST Review (The Most Powerful X-Bow to Date?)

Поділитися
Вставка
  • Опубліковано 26 чер 2024
  • TenPoint has been leading the cutting edge of crossbow technology for a couple decades now, and its latest, new-for-2022 Nitro 505 is simply ridiculous. It shoots a 400-grain arrow at 505 FPS (509, actually) to deliver 230 ft.-lbs. kinetic energy!
    However, what JJ wants to know is: With all that speed and limb-vibrating energy, is it accurate? Will it hold up?
    Watch the video for JJ's exclusive, first-review, completely honest review of one of the first commercially manufactured crossbows that breaks the 500 fps barrier. This think is darn-near like a rifle at 100 yards!
    Is the video long? Yes, but if you are contemplating purchasing a $3,000-plus crossbow, a few extra minutes might be worth your time. If you want the best, this is it.

    I noticed that the bucks in Nova Scotia have black markings on the lower jaw. I recently read a blog about a deer that was killed in the states that had similar markings; the article claimed the markings were inherited from an ancient ancestor to the whitetail that had tusks as well (similar to the musk deer in Asia.) The markings were there to accent the tusks. Over the years, the horns became the more suited weapon and the tusks faded into non-existence.
    Beautiful buck. Great patience and execution. I've been watching a bunch of your videos. Good stuff. Keep it up. :)

    I really enjoyed your review, your presentation was very concise, accurate and to the point. I cannot believe the accuracy of this crossbow! I have been debating whether to go with the Nitro 505 and Burris Oracle X scope or save $1,000.00+ with the RS470 package but the overall savings with the Burris Oracle X scope makes me lean in that direction. What is your opinion on that? Is the RS470 a quieter crossbow? Or is there enough difference in the two as far as the noise? Thank you for your reply and for this video! Very very helpful already...

    The heavier your bolt and broadhead, the slower the speed. I’d say the 505 is with the lightweight non-hunting bolts and tips. There’s always a trade, so the kinetic energy is there, but the flux will depend on what you use. If you can throw a ramcat broadhead on there, you’ll put a big hole through it regardless of the weight trade off.

      Looks cool/has issues. Check tenpoints site for their “brand R” comparison. It’s a fairly compelling argument to go with a TP vs the Ravin. I was leaning toward Ravin until I saw the string life, weight and warranty vs the faster 505. R500=200 shot string life 505=500 shot life. Ravin can only be cocked 8hrs, TP is ok all day. Ravin is subject to breaking during storage even!! TenPoint had a lifetime warranty vs a 5 year Ravin limited warranty (that doesn’t cover limbs…) Made my choice easy! And I was a Ravin fan before I knew all that….

    • @BullShooterswithJeffJohnston

    • @jeffreystockdale8292
      @jeffreystockdale8292 2 роки тому

      Kinetic energy is determined by the bow and is constant unless you change the bow setup. Changing the broadhead or field point weight will not change the KE just vary the speed of arrow. To increase the KE, increase the draw weight or efficiency of the bow.

    • @jamessimpson3232

      @@jeffreystockdale8292 sorry man you are wrong. If a lighter arrow is shot that, of course, is faster than the heavier one, the two projectiles will have approx the same energy at the muzzle (before factors like gravity, friction and momentum can take effect.) But downrange you'll see the two projectiles separate in terms of KE, momentum and penetration. It's now provable on lab radars that measure the same shot at multiple distances. So of course the bow is the way to manipulate KE, but you can also do it with projectile weight, including broadheads. There are a million videos on this including one I did.

    10point nitro 505 is a joke when compared to my scorpyd nemesis 480... the Nitro shots 505fps with 400gr bolts when my scorpyd was shooting them 400grainers at 480fps (stock-before tuning but that comes later)... and this is the best part- my minimum draw weight is only 90pounds so i rope cock it (short rope cock it! its only 90pounds ater all) and those poor bastards MUST use a crank (electric, fuel powered or atomic-whichever hi-tec type:)) because their minimum draw weight is 150pounds! heheee..,. yes, you heard it right- 150pounds is what you would need to lift in order to rope cock that T-rex:) Next you need to imagine what kind of stress your 10point Nitro 505 is under if it uses a 300pounds draw weight! yeayy, why not just go to the next level and make it 400pounds draw weight??- but the you would need to use "TWIN Cranking Devices" or better yet a "Quattro":===:)) And the best part is- i have tuned my nemesis by adjusting cam timing and better string and reached around 510ish FPS with 400grainers.. so who is laughing now??? i can still rope cock it- neneeneneeeneeee
    And I can change the string and cables in the field (dont need no press, never had to because they never broke but i could:) -hihehe, sorry, i wont torture you no more talking about the 1.5pound trigger and, and, and...:))

    • @BullShooterswithJeffJohnston

      Great post. While i don't think the 10 point is a joke, those Scorpyds are indeed badass. Started by a genius named jim Kempf who developed reverse draw tech. That is the company that all others must pay royalties to if they are to use reverse draw tech. But I haven't shot a scorpyd in a few years. Ten point was whipping them, but sounds like I'll have to check out some new models. Thanks!

    • @jezu-ufam-tobie
      @jezu-ufam-tobie 8 місяців тому

      the funny thing is i picked up the nitro 505 in summer for a whooping €3500 so i am not bashing 10P because i cant have it ...but after spending so much money on it (ok, scorpyd was also €2999 xbow) and using it few weeks my crank broke twice and it ate my serving once within 50 shoots, thats not good. so now its a the dealer who is unable to figure it out, yet... other wise it shoots good but..-who needs 520fps (that much i clocked on my chrono) for hunt when i have 480 with scorpyd which i cock with rope, queit but powerful enough for any game... i must say that it hadles heavy bolts better then my scorpyd, meaning i will use 490gr bolt at speed of 490fps! whereas my scorpyd loaded with the same 490gr arrow will drop fps far lower to 430fps. SO one can say that the heavy 300# draw weight of the nitro handles heavy bolts better the the light 150# scorpyd with a longer power stroke. If your looking for a tack driver using 400-430gr bolts then scorpyd is my winner but if you want a tank shooting 500-600gr bolts then go with the nitro- just be mindful of all the extra maintance, stress and wear.. @@BullShooterswithJeffJohnston

    Not impressed especially for the price! 👎Is it fast? sure, but it sounds loud as hell and has a heavy trigger. didn't look to be all that accurate especially since you were using the same bolt every shot. not worth the money. you can have it.

      Th he deer isn't going to know what hit him with bigger bolts at close range.

      @@robertwolfe2971 🤣 they don't know what hits them now with my current setup. The bolt is already through them before they even have a chance to move.

    Why do all excalibur owners or most go on about their crossbow does pretty much the same thing with less moving parts... ummmm no they don't, not even close , show me a excalibur that has a similar shooting arc to the nitro 505 , pppffftt not even close my 505 has punched straight through a red stag at 80 mtrs and if im off judging the distance it doesn't matter because it shoots that flat it doesn't matter and yes excalibur owners I can change my string in the bush and I can walk through tight scrub without my big ass wide limbs catching on branches and getting caught up on everything and yes they weigh a bit more but that's why they are made for men not pussies that piss and moan about a bit of weight, my first nitro rdx killed deer , goats , pigs , foxs rabbits by the hundreds and it never let me down once and I still use it but my 505 blows it away so just because you can't afford something dont bag it out or even bring it up
