True. Speed sells bows. But where this Tenpoint 505 will shine is on large African game, add a heavy fixed broadhead to that speed. Then you will get super deep wound channels and a freezer full of meat.

My Bowtech Stryker X has had a built in ,chain drive ,cocking /de-cocking device . It shoots 410 fps and is the 2007 model. I have taken numerous deer with it and have replaced th cable/strings about 5 years ago. I have since gifted my Nephew with this great crossbow and he has taken several deer with it. Being able to de-cock the bow without firing is a great advantage , and I am happy to see that Ten Point has gotten away from the twin string cocking /de-cocking device. I had a Ten Point prior to switching over to the Bowtech and was elated in doing so. My 2004 model Ten Point was so loud that my hunting partner over 150 yards away could hear me shoot. I was totally disgusted with the older set-up and am happy that they got away from the old cocking device. If I were still hunting and wanted a new crossbow , I might consider a TenPoint again, but , I don't forsee any problems with the Bowtech Stryker X, which is no longer in production, but , I was so satisfied with the Bowtech that it would have been tough to retire it. 14 years later , it is still shooting 410 fps and accurate as can be. Good job Ten Point...you have finally stepped up to the plate and become real competition with others in your class. Well done describing your review of it. It looks loke a real weapon now ! The problem I see with it now is that it has become a rich man's sport. At close to $2000.00 price tag , it is far out of reach of the everyday crossbow hunter, in my opinion , but , such is life.....

I’ve never owned a Ten Point.
When initially latching the accu slide onto the string, can you release it, remove the cocking handle, and push it to the string ? It seems that since it’s a flexible strap that you could. The mechanism can’t push the accu slide can it ? I’m basing my question on the way my Ravin R29X works. This method keeps one from having to proceed through all of the revolutions with the handle on and spinning. Hope my question makes sense.

The skill level is not a requirement to hunting. It’s the choice of those who hunt. Those who contribute to conservation and pay for their license and fees have that right.
Fortunately the laws of most states do not support your thinking. Your opinion is just that. What you believe is what it is. But it’s unfortunate that you judge the way you seem to.
In spite of this, crossbows will continue to be there and continue to gain popularity with all kinds of hunters.
Unfortunately there are many vertical bow hunters that don’t put in the time they should and wound plenty of deer.

I don't think you mentioned that the speed you are shooting those bolts at are with Tenpoint's 400gr arrows that are not the ones being provided with the bow. They provide the higher end hunting bolts that are 445grns, with advertised speeds of 485fps. Now that is obviously fast, but still a misleading advertising tactic.

10point nitro 505 is a joke when compared to my scorpyd nemesis 480... the Nitro shots 505fps with 400gr bolts when my scorpyd was shooting them 400grainers at 480fps (stock-before tuning but that comes later)... and this is the best part- my minimum draw weight is only 90pounds so i rope cock it (short rope cock it! its only 90pounds ater all) and those poor bastards MUST use a crank (electric, fuel powered or atomic-whichever hi-tec type:)) because their minimum draw weight is 150pounds! heheee..,. yes, you heard it right- 150pounds is what you would need to lift in order to rope cock that T-rex:) Next you need to imagine what kind of stress your 10point Nitro 505 is under if it uses a 300pounds draw weight! yeayy, why not just go to the next level and make it 400pounds draw weight??- but the you would need to use "TWIN Cranking Devices" or better yet a "Quattro":===:)) And the best part is- i have tuned my nemesis by adjusting cam timing and better string and reached around 510ish FPS with 400grainers.. so who is laughing now??? i can still rope cock it- neneeneneeeneeee
And I can change the string and cables in the field (dont need no press, never had to because they never broke but i could:) -hihehe, sorry, i wont torture you no more talking about the 1.5pound trigger and, and, and...:))

I understand what you’re saying but this is better crossbow technology. Many folks just like you pitched a holy fit when compound bows first emerged and said the same things.
Truth is, in the states, (uhm, most of them) that legalized crossbows they have not destroyed the deer herd. Hunter numbers and money of course have increased. The use of vertical bows have leveled off. Some people said that poaching would increase, but that hasn’t happened either. The majority of poaching violations are committed with firearms. Nothing new.
It intrigues me how you say that they are ruining archery season when they have brought back some numbers to it. Is that what define the tradition as?
Is there such a tradition as archery only hunting?
In WI, I don’t know any multigenerational archery only hunters. Most of the archery hunters are the same that put away their bows and pick up a gun for gun season. Conversely, I know many multigenerational gun hunters.
Despite this new technology with crossbows it would not change my hunting tactics one bit. My closest crossbow shot was 6 yards and my furthest was 35 yards. The truth is a 40 or maybe 50 yard shot is improved because there will be no jumping the string.
Crossbow hunters do not effect your ability to pursue vertical bow hunting.
What problem do you have with more grandfathers and grandsons or daughters, moms, dads and their kids or uncles, nieces or nephews getting out to enjoy hunting? Do you know how many deer are killed on the highway every year. It has degraded the herd one bit.
More people are enjoying crossbows then ever before. That’s not a trend likely to change any time soon.

@@douglasborgaro6801 its not remotely the same weapon. Its a crossgun and many are shooting past 50 yards. Maybe not you. It at least needs a separate shorter season. Where crossguns and bows share the same season is absolutely ridiculous. In MN they can be used in place of a firearm during firearms season, which is the only way it should be. No amount of arguing is ever going to change mine or a vast number of others opinions. It takes a vast amount of practice to be proficient with a bow as well. Which is why more people are using crossguns, because its easy and people don't want to have to work at anything. Just slap a scope on and make sure its zeroed in.

@@ellobo1326 there’s no reason for people to shoot them if there’s nothing wrong with them. If you’re hurt, old enough, can’t pull back a compound, that fine understand that. But people in their teens and up and that are perfectly fine there’s no reason for it. It’s an advantage. You have the people that only use to gun hunt, and then now since it’s legal everyone is shooting them now because it’s easier. Take the time outta your day and shoot a compound or a recurve/longbow like people use to.

These things are ruining the sport. Should be allowed for youth and handicapped only imo.

Wrong Bill. Arrows obtain lift in trajectory. Bolts do not.
      Thought you were fancy eh?
