Honest Review: Testing TenPoint's Evolutionary TX 440
For years the Ohio-based TenPoint company has produced some of the best crossbows money can buy in terms of quality, accuracy and ease of use. And they might have been somewhat guilty of "If it's not broke, why fix it?" But for 2024, the company debuts two crossbows, the TX 440 and TRX 515 that literally broke its own mold in. These crossbows utilized more modern CNC machining and less molded polymer to produce a new line of X-bows that have more features than ever. In this video, JJ reviews the TX 440, what he believes is the current sweet spot in terms of speed vs. accuracy.
Whiles it's likely the all-around best crossbow for hunters that TenPoint has ever produced--which means it's likely the best crossbow ever produced, period, surprisingly it's not the company's most expensive. That doesn't mean it is cheap.
JJ's purpose here is to make sure you know what you are buying, and what to expect, before you buy. View the whole video to see the unboxing and discovery process and testing protocols, or just watch the conclusion.
The bottom line is that it's fast, quiet, accurate and has multiple features that have been improved to bring the serious crossbow hunter a bow he or she can depend on. If you have any questions, be sure and ask JJ in the comments. He is beholden to nobody except you, the viewer. Thanks for watching!

RAVIN R18 Full (HONEST) Review
Переглядів 3,8 тис.6 місяців тому
Ravin's R18 from 2022 changed the crossbow game in terms of compactness which is commonly thought to be the crossbow's biggest drawback to hunters. For its radical design that departs from tradition and incredible engineering, JJ gives the R18 due credit. But as you'll see in this video, after full testing and in-the-field hunting use, he hopes the R18 is a launch pad from which Ravin will laun...

1st mistake gun too big. 2nd mistake not keeping it in your pocket. 3rd mistake don't put your self in a situation you can't easily draw from unnoticed. Play the unarmed victim back up then draw un noticed.

The first shot is tighter than the second, assuming the attacker would be closing on the defender. The right way to test is first shot farther, second shot closer. I carried these for many years before Kimber got involved. The manufacturer is Piexon, and the original product was the Guardian Angel, without pistol grip or sights.

Most right handed people will use the left hand as their distance keeper. So they can punch or use the right. I like the idea of the back carry tho for a lot of scenarios. I think you could train some good sneaky draws plus if you have to suck for cover you can get to it.

@@iBleedStarsAndBars Atta boy!!! lol I don't have any skin in the game, so not trying to sell product. But I believe you bought the best crossbow, all around, that money can buy. Please let me know what you think about it, after you have it set up and doped out. I'm just one guy and I'd love to have more data. I'd say bite the bullet and order some extra arrows! Also, for hunting, i recommend Sevr broadheads. Titanium, go with the 150 grain. They actually quiet the bow and are tough. They're the only mechanical I'll shoot with a crossbow now, and you really need mechanicals after about 350 fps because fixed blades start flying squirrely. They lock open after impact too, and can be locked so you can sight in with them. Just my 02.. but man they are pricey!

You discuss a lot of good points and offer great tips on how to reduce felt recoil when shooting a shotgun. I shoot 12-gauge slugs 90% of the time and I'm sure these tips will help me shoot more comfortably. I've just added 1/2 inch to my LOP to improve my sight positioning, but I think it might reduce felt recoil a little too. I may try a LimbSaver recoil reduction pad at some point as well.

it really isn't hard to prove, you dump the same energy in a really short distance with a greater force or longer distance with a lower force. any spring element in the equation will reduce the amount of force the shooter is exposed to but the total energy won't change. very similiar to automotive suspension.

There is a reason why .300 Blackout (7.62 x 35) has gotten popular since its introduction around 2009. It pushes past the limitations of 5.56 x 45. It can use 85 to 220 grain bullets, and the 110 grain supersonic rounds work well for hunting medium game using most of the standard AR-15 components. I used to have a .300 Blackout but I sold it off for a 7.62 x 39 AR-15. 7.62 x 39 is not as versatile as .300 Blackout but it is cheaper and it allows me to get more ammunition.

    • @macy725
      @macy725 18 днів тому

I disagree that the x39 isn't as versatile. If you hand load you can load up to 220gr. Unfortunately there just isn't as much load data due to lack of interest.

Thanks for sharing this. I feel pretty good about carrying in side the belt, 4 o’clock . I’m left side dominant. Easy to draw left handed from the back for me. Secondary I draw with my right hand from the front. By moving my pistol, say to around 3 o’clock I can manage to comfortably sit in my vehicle. Not so keen on appendix carry for all the obvious reasons.

I still try to get a fast bow so I can use a heavy arrow and have more ke and momentum. I know for deer sized game, it doesn’t matter too much but for elk and moose which I go after every year, it’s just an insurance policy.

    • @BullShooterswithJeffJohnston

I can't argue with that. I think the key is finding the heaviest weight that you can also pull when you're cold, tired and in a bad drawing position, as often happens when hunting.
