Hi I have the 8010 2018 first model issues on mine tube straps and 3 day ago the carburetor I install the new one and I’m so impressed runs better than when it was new
I made a review of mine a while back after using it daily in a solo operation. First off, they're a beast. My 9010T has been great except for the swivel pipe part, it catches and wore out fairly quickly. I don't have the fancy newer straps, mine didn't come with a chest strap, but not an issue unless wearing a wind breaker. I use Echo Gold mix and mine.
@Wally. My PB-8010T was bought over 4 years ago. This spring it suddenly stopped working and so I took it to an authorized service center. They said that there was "a lack of machining marks on the piston and matching wear on the cylinder. This was most likely the reason the rod end bearing gave away. They stated there was scaring on the cylinder and piston and was probably due to ingestion of dirt and debris. The rod end bearing was overheated and worn". Echo then proceeded to blame this on a lack of maintenance and refused to warranty the blower. The scaring on the piston looked excessive to me, in one spot above the hole where the connecting rod was and not simple dirt or debris. It looked to me like a piece of the piston sheared off or some type of metal from manufacturing caused the issue. Have you seen something like this before? How many engine failures and deep piston/cylinder scaring issues have you seen with the 8010? I maintain and take good care of my equipment. I feel like Echo was looking for a reason to blame me for the failure of the engine because I am not someone that mistreats or doesn't maintain my machines.
Big problem with the starter bolts loosening off and wallowing out the mounting hole, have had very many with that issue , also the ignition kill wire harness behind the fuel tank rubs through next to the throttle cable routing , poor routing , solved the problem with added shrink tubing for insulation...!
Yes I forgot about the wiring for the tube mount throttle behind the tank also, great point! I don’t see starter issues since they changed the bolts and started using lock-tight. We would drill them out and add Time-Sert’s to fix them in the past.
Great video!!! If u we’re buying a new blower which would u choose, Echo 9010T or the new Redmax 8560 I can’t decide and why?? Thanks!! Thumbs up on the video 👍🏻
Thanks! Tough choice but I tend to lean towards the Redmax, they seem to run longer and tolerant more abuse. I did a video on the Redmax explaining their faults as well.
Good info; I used to be a Redmax blower guy, but this new Echo 2 cycle equipment is pretty nice. How do you adjust the idle on the old 8010 carb; you said it's on the top? Do you have to pop the black cover off?
Yes, take the cover off and in the center of the throttle barrel is the screw. You will need a tool called a micro “D” or baby “D” adjustment tool. The Proline micro D 91059 is good but you’ll need to shorten the tool or take off the air filter assembly to get access to the screw.
I had five of them and the only issue other than the early models with the straps bogging down issues feel like fuel filters don't allow enough fuel in I run red armor Echo oil and mid-grade non-ethanol gas there is typically a decent amount of carbon on the spark plug could my problems be because I'm not running a high enough octane fuel
Having a weird issue with mine once it warms up when I first hit the throttle there's a clacking sound but just when you first hit the throttle full rpm it runs fine. I am seeing alot of fuel build up around the engine that's not coming from the tank. Is that the crank case seal that i see people speaking about?
Hi and thanks for the info. I really like Echo power tools. I have aCS501P saw and a 8010 (early one)along with other tools and have to say the 8010 is its a great machine. I am an above average use home owner but for sure not a pro. I was wondering if the dirt being sucked in around the post filter intake tube could be the cause of the cylinder scoring you showed.? All that dirt has to be doing something bad to the engine.!
Great video wat oil do u recommend personally I’m home owner bought 9010 and I ordered some dominator racing oil the 2 stroke from ansoil Wanna give it try
I recommend any of the oils from the manufactures like Stihl, Echo, Redmax and so on. Amsoil is great to! We have a lot of commercial customers using it with no issues.
Hey man, If I want to run a 40:1 mix in the 9010, how would I tune the carb? I run 40:1 in all my stuff because I believe it lubricates and cools better without being too dirty or smoky. I dont want to run 40:1 in a machine tuned for 50:1.
If it’s running normally on 40:1 don’t worry about the adjustment. The difference between 50 and 40 is very minimal. The type of fuel you use is more important.
Very good video. I have a couple of 8010’s and 9010’s that will run very strong for about 10 minutes and then will just keep bogging down. You let it sit for a while and it will repeat the same cycle. Any suggestions on what the problem is? Thanks in advance. Clarence the owner of Cut Close Lawn Care LLC here in Virginia
Great video Wally! I have a PB-8010T that was built during the very beginning of the 3rd production run and I wanted to get your opinion if Echo may have made all the updates to the blower for the final production run? My blower was inspected by a dealer for the recall and was verified that it was built with the new straps but I'm not sure if the recall included checking the torque of the cylinder screws. Also, since Echo has not published a technical data sheet for the 8010, do you have the recommended torque for the following screws: Cylinder to block Carburetor to cylinder Spark plug Exhaust to cylinder Thanks for your excellent video content and a great channel!
Most of the issues have been resolved on the late 8010 and 9010 models. Don't worry too much about torque specs, these engines don't need to be that precise. Get a good "T Handle" T27 and tighten everything up, just don't go crazy. But basically, cylinders are between 70-80 inch pounds, carb to cyl and muffler 30-40 and tighten the spark plug until you feel the "crush washer" bottom out, it's probably in that 40-50 inch pound range. I'll see if I can find some info from Echo.
Hi Wally .I'm replacing the short block on my pb8010t and I was wondering how do you remove the starter recoil part off of the crankshaft? Do you just pound it off or is it threaded on ? I don't think it's threaded but I'm afraid to try and pound it. Thanks. I believe its called the starter Pawl that I'm referring to 13:21
That is the flywheel, take the nut off, you will see two holes that are threaded, take 2 of the bolts that hold the engine to the housing and screw them into those holes. Slowly tighten the bolts until they bottom out on the engine case, keep tightening them until the flywheel pops off. The crankshaft is tapered.
@@wallysworkin823 WALLY YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!!!!! I had to go to the hardware store and buy 2 longer bolts because the ones from the housing weren't long enough, and I had to place a piece of thin steel underneath so the bolts would grab but it worked! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!❤❤
I would lean towards the Echo. The BR800 is good but I don’t like the vibration and we keep seeing lots of muffler issues. The Stihl will be more fuel efficient but parts are more expensive.
Oh man, well I would lean towards a PB-770. I can honestly say I see very few 770’s for major problems. I replace quite a few throttle cables (which is a little bit of a pain) but that’s it other than normal maintenance. They’re not the most powerful but reliable. A Redmax 7500 would be my second choice.
I don't want to buy a stihl br800 cause of the 4 stroke. This echo9010 was my choice, but now I found out, that it isn't available in Europe, so bad 😣 What do you think about the husky bts580? Thanks for the response

Make sure you use a good oil and high octane fuel. If you are seeing little balls of carbon on the plug try running premium fuel or ethanol free fuel. You can open up the gap on the plug a little if it continues.

I always use 50:1 fuel in my 2-cycle equipment to ensure good performance. So, after 2 years of use with my equipment as a consumer, the Echo dealer is stating the ECHO factory may not honor replacement blower parts to fix the issue. My 8010 will cold start and run fine but if you try to turn in off and start it again it will not start. After a few hours it will start...any idea as to what's wrong with it? Great video thank you.
As stated poss vent issue or a spark issue. Coil failure is common when they get hot then once they cool it will restart. Check your spark after it dies.

Depends on the oil, I have customers running AMSOIL at 80:1 and 100:1 with no issues.
@@wallysworkin823 Ha! I came to ask about this as well. I am old, my RM-80 reccomended 20:1 !
My question (due to your comment about bearing failures)...Do you think it would be beneficial to increase the mixture ratio? If so what do you think is ideal?
@@kennethalbert4653 Are we talking for the Suzuki or a blower? lol. If you’re using any good name brand oil 50:1 is just fine. The bearing failures I’ve seen were part failures and had nothing to do with ratios.
@@wallysworkin823 ha, for the Blower (I have a PB9010).
Just seems like a drastic change from the past.
@@kennethalbert4653 well those old air cooled two strokes like lots of oil. Engines and the oil have changed quite a bit as you know. I rode a 1981 RM250 when I was kid, unbelievable how good bikes are nowadays.
A question please.
I am interested in buying a back blower.
I'm between the Echo BP 8010 and the Stihl BR 800 C-E.
Who would you recommend and why?
I would go with the PB-9010. They just seem to be more reliable lately.
