2019: The sequel to Breath of the Wild is now in development
2020: The prequel to Breath of the Wild is being developed and released in November
"I pulled a sneaky on ya ;)" -Nintendo
skeleton me: Finally .... dammit all another 2 months
It's a sequel... But backwards
Gamers We did it we’re finally can experience what happened 100 years ago in breath of the wild and we’re going to play as the champions that died yes
2021: The Legend of Zelda anniversary, ports of classic hits is being developed and released in february
This in a nutshell: We’re still making BotW II but here’s a prequel while you wait.
And that’s pretty awesome

@@benng5437 November 20 i'm by it
Lol
Demi why
Does everyone remember that Memory where Link is on the ground in front of 3 dead lynels and several dead bokoblins, and Zelda reminds him that he's not immortal?
I think we might have to play that memory, now...
Hoo boy can't wait
Yeah I was like wtf? I can’t even kill a Lynel
@@giygas9305 I couldn't kill lynels at all during my first playthrough. They were *way* too hard and terrified me.
I figured them out real quick on my second playthrough, though. Like all enemies in the game, they have a pattern. You might die a couple times figuring out that pattern, but once you do, killing a lynel is basically just a matter of timing and patience. Flurry rushes help a lot, but aren't required... they just make it easier.
@@jimmyrrpage true.........
Except for the lynels with crushers
@@gabrielkrows488 They're the hardest lynels for sure, but they still have a pattern you can figure out.
Fans: Where is BotW *Two* ?
Nintendo: Here is BotW *Zero*
I'm not complaining lol
Just as long as it's better than Star Fox Zero, I won't be complaining.
EDIT: Well, my joke about not complaining didn't age well. But in my defense, how was I supposed to anticipate that the game was being falsely-advertised?
Ahem... -1
When I saw it I thought it was another dlc I mean I wasn’t disappointed
YEET
"why did the 4 champions have to die? all of them are very lovable!"
Nintendo: "would you like to witness their demise firsthand?"
God plus your profile pic matches your comment lol
Lol
3 of them are very lovable*
I'm not ready to cry again
hahahahhahahaahhaahahah
If this games final scene isn’t Zelda telling link ‘open your eyes’ I’ll lose it
To Be Continued... for $60
(assuming you didn't buy that one first)
I need that
LMAO
Wow that would be cool
@Rishab Tirupathi Some people just prefer Warriors-type fighting games over exploration, and new fans keep getting introduced to the series. You never know. Imagine Age of Calamity was your first Zelda game ever, and it ended like _that._
Nintendo: *Watch your beloved characters all perish in our newest title, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity!*
Me, sobbing: *Just take my money already!*
Yeah guess not.
Spoiler: the final boss is you holding the a button as Zelda for one hundred years

I can't wait to be told I won the last level and then have everyone just die
We probably won’t play the champions in the divine beasts, probably them journeying to them, when they are successful. They go inside and die to the blights.
We probably won’t see their death, just them entering their divine beasts.
Actually that could be a pretty amazing level. Playing as Zelda, rushing a mortality wounded Link to safety, getting the master sword to the Deku tree and then going off to hold back Gannon alone until link recovers 100 years later.
And then do a BotW play through to experience it in chronological order😢
@@williammckinney5213 we see clips of their death in this trailer.

That is unless they'll reveal something "hopeful" at the end of the game maybe related to the Queen of Hyrule(Zelda's mother), the Zonai tribe, the 7 Sages or perhaps Hylia herself planning something to fight Demise's newest reincarnation directly. There's just SO much they could do to surprise us at the end of the game. The prequel for Breath of The Wild who haves a Disney happy ending and time travels
Yeah, definitely the prequel to Breath of The Wild
To be fair they never called this game a prequel, we just assumed it would be because what else would it be. They just worded it like it was saying these are the events of the great calamity.
@@francoperalta5986 That is still blatant false advertising.
They never said it was going to be a prequel. You all just assumed that.
@@chrange9714 They never said the exact word "prequel", but there are multiple ways of saying, "This game is a prequel" without saying the word "prequel" (such as substituting the word with the definition), and Nintendo did basically all of them.
@@matthewmuir8884 It wasn't implied to be a prequel. They said it was a new story that took place 100 years ago during the Great Calamity. Read the description of the trailers. It literally says "experience a new story." The whole "it's a prequel" thing was spread around by fans. I never even thought about a prequel until I heard it being spread around. I'll admit some ads were a little vague, but they weren't like, "Mwa ha ha! Let's make some trailers vague and bait people into buying our game. Mwa ha ha ha!"
Consider- the final level is set at the same time as the final memory, as a never-ending survival level, akin to the finale of Halo 3, against waves of guardians until Link finally dies. That would be sick
*Halo Reach
Idk if link died or was knocked out. Can the shrine of resurrection revive, or just heal?
I honestly hope that this is exactly what happens. That final level in reach was so unique and memorable.
This is like Halo Reach...It's exciting to be able to experience the story, but so depressing to know everyone is going to die
The first few halo games were so good I didn’t even care to pay attention to the story I was too busy on live playing team battle and doubles or king of the hill
And now all I can wonder is if the final mission of this game will be Link on that grassy field, holding of a horde of enemies to protect Zelda even as the Master Sword gradually gets worn down...all leading into that final memory from Breath of the Wild.
Noble Link.

"The actual events of the Great Calamity weren't fully shown in BOTW."
It's not like they were shown in this game either.
Indeed; he straight-up lied about this game and what it would contain, and so many people are trying to defend it, and I can't help but ask, "Why? Why the lies? Why make the game not a prequel? Why are all these people vehemently denying that Nintendo did something scummy like this?"
@@matthewmuir8884 i guess because if it ends that way then that means a newer link and zelda
@@roamingtheinternet8652 What do you mean by that? Could you please clarify?
@@dollphunh2097 It doesn't take place before or after BOTW; it takes place in a separate timeline from BOTW. Alternate-timeline narratives are not prequels.
@@dollphunh2097 What I am telling you is a matter of simple definition. Alternate-timeline narratives are not prequels. Age of Calamity is an alternate-timeline narrative, so it is not a prequel.
They didn’t specifically say it was a prequel...
But they heavily implied it.
They kept saying what happened 100 years ago and linked to the main botw cutscenes. So it pretty much was supposed to be a prequel
Yeah just poor wording of saying these were the events of the calamity.
Franco Peralta I think the reason for that is mostly because translating Japanese to English is probably one of the hardest things and saying specific phrases in Japanese will be very strangely worded and translated to English which is why they simplified the wording. That's why learning to speak Japanese as an English speaker is the hardest thing to do since English does not translate very well onto Japanese and vice versa, that's why in Japan English isn't widely spoken although their are some Japanese English speakers since they decided to challenge themselves with learning a the hard English language as a Japanese speaker.
@@theedgyweeb4904 I think it was more about adverting expectations. They did this kind of thing back with champions ballad when they said this was story dlc, which it was but not really. Age of Calamity is the same case, it takes place 100 years during the great calamity just things don't go as expected.
They used every way there is of saying "this game is a prequel" that doesn't use the exact word "prequel", so they still lied about the game being a prequel.
So, basically.... "We aren't done with Breath of the Wild:After, but we can give you HW Breath of the Wild:How All Of Link's Friend Died."

@@justflavio This appears to be Canon, at least somewhat, as it references an event that happened in a canonical game
Ghee Buttersnaps it’s the prequel showing the events before link was put to sleep, so it should be completely canon
This is absolutely incredible. The best thing about this is that you kept the botw art style
It's a good time to be a zelda fan
Why wouldn't they keep the artstyle when it's a prequel involving the same character, the same Hyrule and the "themes"? It would have been weird had they changed the artstyle instead of retaining it.
Javier Vásquez I think it would have been way easier to have just kept the artstyle of the original Hyrule Warriors. Idk if it’s the same engine though.
@@javiervasquez8995 Mainly because it's a Warriors game. I initially thought it would be more like the first where it had it's own set art style, and a fan fiction tier story like when a big titty anime girl simps super hard for Link she causes a war.

Essentially, they promised us a prequel, and they lied.
@@matthewmuir8884 could not agree more. nintendo screwed up big on this one...
@@picklegod4973 Thanks. Why didn't they just make a prequel? Is it that Koei Tecmo only knows how to write cheap fanservice plots or something?
@@matthewmuir8884 yeah for the last game, they merged every game pretty much. for this game they merged every game in this series of games.
@@picklegod4973 I thought this game was great. And now all the champion’s are still alive. The whole point of the game is you experiencing the world 100 year’s prior to BOTW.

Omg dangelo is a Zelda fan? I have to stan😳
LMAO I LOVE YOU WHAT?!
Hello
Haha i have fire emblem i should of got that one first
This is actually a GENIUS way to implement a warriors style game into Zelda. The context works since this battle was a large scale war and what makes this even better is the fact that Nintendo didn't have to do it but did it anyway!
Yeah Its absolutely genius, I've always wanted to play in the Calamity war but with the Warriors engine it'll fit even better as a war
they already did this back in the Wii U.
that is a fair point the use the fact their going to be a war it fits so well

Sadly they are going to die no matter what. Because if they don't the events of botw would've been different
I dont care what anyone says, I absolutely love this game (and botw). The story was amazing and blew my mind that there are now 2 timelines in botw. The combat and the amount of characters/ variety offered was also great. I am also enjoying the dlc's now, they are good quality content and solid amount of hours.
I was almost crying the whole time but that last part with Zelda... that really sent me over the edge

That line couldn't be more perfect for this game.
In the HW style, where the battlefield is just stuffed with baddies.
PK Scolax And it’s 1v1000 I think he said, maybe he just meant that’s what the cutscenes would show and not actual gameplay..I hope I’m wrong though.
From the same company that constantly changes the order of the series timeline.
@@tha1neo418 He's obviously talking about the gameplay, and he doesn't mean it literally. Koei Tecmo is a company that specializes in having your character just fight a laaaaaaarge sum of baddies (see Hyrule Warriors, Fire Emblem Warriors, and Persona 5 Strikers)
@@vigi1antvort3x41 I don't understand what you mean... Yeah, Nintendo put the timeline of the games in a order separate to the game's actual releases, but they have never changed many of the game's placements constantly.
"you'll have to wait a bit longer before we can provide more updates"
its been 1,183 days since Metroid Prime 4 was announced, I think I can wait for this.
It’s also been 9,225 days since Mother 3 was announced back in Earthbound and it still hasn’t released out side of Japan.
lmaoooo
Jeez I didn't realize it's been so long since that teaser. And it's all Nintendo's fault for thinking they can just stroll up and do what the original developers did without any fps experience at all.
It’s been 1,005 days since Bayonetta 3 was announced
from some videos it seems like Metroid Prime 4 was scrapped ( not sure tho ) but I hope it will release!!

I understand that many People are dissapointed in the Story, but personally I Really loved it and thought it was a welcoming Surprise.
Good for you. No one wants to take that away from you, or at least I know I don't; I just want everyone to be willing to acknowledge that Nintendo and Koei Tecmo deliberately misled everyone when marketing this game.
Yeah same, I was really happy to have such a large character roster bc at the start I thought it would just be 6 characters. And it was nice to see the champions get closure.
But even before the release I knew most people wouldnt care for this game, and that was totally fine bc warriors games aren't for everyone. Also it would be a cruel decision to require players to play this game to understand botw2 lore, so having the story be its own thing isnt too much of a surprise when you think about it
I absolutely loved the first Hyrule Warriors game, I played it on the 3ds and switch. I did not think that I would ever see a second game in the series. So seeing this makes me incredibly happy and excited.

I'm surprised but a Hyrule Warriors game is actually pretty fitting for what happened during the calamity. This looks amazing, can't wait to play it!

No, the time when he was surrounded by dead Guardians, in Akala. He's quite battered and even faints at one point. Plus, after his regenerative sleep, he's said to have loads of scars, so we can imagine he was quite hurt when he fought all those enemies.

I had such high hopes for this game...
@JB It sucks because it breaks continuity and doesn't even tell us the events leading up to BotW. The game is just a what-if about how they could've prevented it.
I think the game is still fun, but man, I'm so disappointed with the direction they took the story :(
I was really looking forward to seeing more of the events that led to Link waking up in the Shrine of Resurrection, with more context about what happened before and after the memories we saw in BotW. I really wanted the tragic story with a hopeful ending that leads into BotW. This... I dunno man. It's not what I was looking forward to seeing for the last 2+ months.
@@timmy3441 that’s it. That’s literally everything that upsets me abt this game. It’s still a fun game that I do still find myself playing, even if it’s more for just world exploration. They just led us all the wrong way and it’s really unfortunate.

@@Fer_Ramorino and then start to dislike the vid
Yea, everything Nintendo has been releasing since July was probably meant for E3. Idk if spacing things out like this was smart tho
damn imagine if COVID didn't happen. Min Min in Smash, Origami King, Pikmin 3, Mario 35th, and this game, and maybe even more would have been in the E3 Direct.
mr mwm games could be delayed or not ready to show off because of COVID so it’s not the worst idea to space things out and show them off when you’re 100% sure they’re ready. I think they could’ve done it better and announce a mystery game the day before so people can get prepared though.
When I saw this trailer yesterday I was casually yelling out loud. Couldn't contain that hype, the hype that I STILL have for my favorite series of all time. Bless Nintendo and The Legend of Zelda.
I love how Ganon is going full savage now, before as Ganondorf he was like "hey i'll just trying to be nice and stole the triforce for conquer Hyrule"
and Now: "You know what ? Quit it! I'm going to slay you all from this world!"
What's cool about this is that unlike the other hyrule warriors game, this can be considered canon, since it actually is taking place in a continuity unlike the former game.
Because it takes place during the calamity, it makes me wonder if there's gonna be a bunch of foreshadowing, hints, and questions that will be followed up by Botw2, and maybe also answer questions from botw1.
can't wait for Nov 20
Its really up in the air if this is canon. Is most likely gonna be a vague retelling of the events 100 years ago because as you see, Link use runes from the Sheikah Slate, which they didn’t have back then.
@@Kiru_Kahl I mean, it was worked on closely with the Botw team, so I don't see why it's not canon.
Advent I know, it’s just that it’s got inconsistencies so it’s probably gonna be a retelling or the events, not the actual events themselves
It doesn't matter if it is canon or not. Technically, every Zelda game ever exists in the same timeline, but if BOTW2 acknowledges this spinoff, then it will be officially "canon."
Wolfzode YT they literally said it’s telling the story of before botw what is there to argue about it’s canon period
