That memory where Link had slaughtered countless monsters, including several Lynels, suddenly makes a lot more sense. He was powered by Dynasty Warriors strength.
He got ungodly nerfed after the Shrine of Resurrection. I mean healing a basically dead body back to life must takes it's toll on the person and wouldn't be as strong. That's my personal head cannon why link can fight 20 black bokoblins here and defeats them in seconds while in BOTW he can barely fight 5 at once and takes around 4-9 minutes to kill them all.
I think is because ganon at his resurretion makes the enemies more powerful in the original game zelda said something like that

Still is. The events of Age of Calamity occur the _exact_ way they do in Breath of the Wild up until Terraco goes back in time in the opening cinematic. It's still canon because AoC *_always_* happens because Terraco *_always_* goes back in time once Zelda awakens her power to save Link at Fort Hateno against the Guardians, Terraco is activated and then notices the destruction caused by the Calamity

I don’t care what anyone says, this was a great game and story line for a “short” prequel/ “filler game”. I’m actually restarting it right now. I’m into action slash games, and this was perfect. My biggest concern is BOTW2, so many of us have extremely high expectations for the sequel, because of how intense and beautiful/immaculate BOTW was. I can only hope that Nintendo doesn’t let us down. Especially finding out they’re using the same map. Leading me to think it will be a much darker, perhaps “underground” game play.
I was sold when they said Hyrule Warriors ngl. But it’s Hyrule Warriors and BotW in one, which was so good for me. My favorite main series + my favorite spinoff = a great game in my eyes. And great it was. It doesn’t top the original HW imo, but it’s right up there as a top tier game and an overall fantastic experience.
Don’t forget Skyward Sword remastered in HD (:
I can't say anything about this game's quality (as I didn't buy it), but Nintendo should've been honest about what this game was instead of falsely marketing it as an actual prequel.

Anyway, based on the rest of your answer, I'm guessing you're the latter. Well, just in case, here's a list of things that Nintendo and Koei Tecmo lied about regarding this game:
1. They lied about the game taking place 100 years before the events of BOTW (this statement was made in both the announcement video and on Age of Calamity's website). As it's in a separate timeline from BOTW, it doesn't precede it, so this statement is a lie.
2. They lied about this game enabling the player to experience the events of the Great Calamity as it happened in the backstory of BOTW (this statement was made in both the announcement video and on the website multiple times). We got an alternate-timeline variation of the calamity that is stopped before a number of its events could truly begin, so this statement is a lie.
Oh, and the definition of a prequel is a story that precedes the events of a previous work, and in many cases is a story that shows events that were part of the backstory of said previous work. Nintendo claimed that Age of Calamity precedes BOTW and that it would show the events that were part of the backstory of BOTW, both of which turned out to be untrue. That would mean, by definition, that they lied about the game being a prequel to BOTW.
Imagine, just imagine that the ending of this game, after the credits roll, the screen goes to dark and you can only hear "open your eyes... Wake up link"
i see ideas like this everywhere, but i have a prediction for the game ending too. You know how, once Link finishes a memory in BOTW, it zooms out from his face and he gasps?
I'm thinking that the game ends with flashbacks from Age Of Calamity, and then flashbacks from BOTW (as in, YOUR save of BOTW, it shows the pictures on your BOTW save files from the moment you enter the shrine until the moment you defeat Ganon, DLC possibly included) and then zooms out from Link's face. Zelda looks at him and asks him if he's ready. Both Link and Zelda are standing outside Hyrule Castle, with no trace of Ganon, but the strange green letters we see in the BOTW2 trailer are flowing out from a tunnel underneath the castle. The ending of Age of Calamity could be a sneak peak to BOTW2
EDIT: I've heard some people saying it might be more preferable if the ending were BOTW (And yes, I wouldn't mind that ending). I'm not against that idea. however, in BOTW you are Link without memories; playing Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity to only have it end with Breath of the Wild kind of ruins it for me. You have all the memories and it ruins a bit of the freedom you have. And if I were to start a new save of breath of the wild for this ending, I doubt I'd have the energy to 100% it again. But BOTW2 will be a whole new experience, a mere sneakpeak would be good for me. Maybe BOTW2 could involve Link remembering the moments he had in Age of Calamity, which might allow him to learn new fighting abilities from his past (maybe even a skill tree?).

I noticed and my stomach dropped, especially at the expressions of each Champion (even if it's just body language in Urbosa's case). I'm just wondering who is holding the lightning weapon and fighting Link just before Urbosa is on screen.
And Urbosa is in Vah Naboris, you can tell by the green power line on the floor.
So in addition to breath of the wild, we're getting a direct sequel, breath of the wild two. And now we're getting breath of the wild the prequel. Nintendo seriously just said screw it, we're making a breath of the wild trilogy

Because at least Zelda manages to Seal Calamity Ganon to some extent. And the rest of Hyrule, outside of the castle and its town, are able to live in relative peace for the next hundred years until Link wakes up.

I don’t know how I’m gonna feel about playing this game. On one hand, I’m really excited to play as the champions, see hyrule in a golden age, and experience the fight, but at the same time I’m confident that the end of it will leave me in tears. It’s going to be much more sad then botw already was

There's a great Zelda theory about how the original Hyrule Warriors broke dimensions and essentially merges the time lines into one, I'm not personally a fan of timeline theories (they usually go no where and are boring) but this one I really like! Feels poetic.
While it doesn't have the "Warriors" title, Persona 5 Royal is also canon (to the vanilla version, not Royal)

@@matthewmuir8884 Semantics, and translation error I’m willing to bet. I was satisfied with what we got, a predictable and hopeless ending didn’t seem like a Nintendo thing to published anyway. The fact that everyone is arguing about the semantics of what is or isn’t based on an event that hasn’t happened yet would hint that people would have been arguing over its canon/noncanon state. (I know it’s noncanon to the original game.)
Man I wish I could forget the game and just rewatch the trailers, getting excited and absolutely terrified of seeing every BOTW character I've come to know and love die, and the expanded story of what the memories hinted at, now with people like Impa and others. The plot twist was REALLY epic and surprising, to be able to have past and future champions teaming up, and as an alternate timeline, I can accept this win.

I think of this with an entirely different mindset that makes more sense than most the comments in here. I like Hyrule Warriors alot more than Breath of the Wild imo for a solid reason. I can play it forever and it will always be addicting to unlock sooooo many things constantly.
Breath of the Wild was a beautiful 720p cell shaded painting but it its not something i will ever put on repeat. Breath of the Wild will always be outshined by whatever the latest main Zelda game is (like BotW2 or beyond) but Hyrule Warriors will always be replayable cuz it has everyone in it.
Dont misunderstand me tho, i hate Hyrule Warriors with Breath of the Wild combined together (aka the game in the video) ugh. I wont buy this at all cuz im burnt out on BotW theme stuff after 100% everything in the game.
Hyrule Warriors should have remained a celebration of the entire Zelda franchise instead of being full-on 100% BotW now. No thanks Nintendo Il keep playing HW: definitive Edition for Switch in HD

No. You presuming others' intentions & feelings is arrogant, and behaving as though you are right without question is childish. I despise the hype, now, because all I can remember is excitedly waiting for a game that was not being made. I remember watching videos speculating the Champion's final Hero's Path, their encounters during the actual Calamity event, and how their deaths would be handled in a gameplay sense. I remember watching clips from these trailers of the Champions failing to combat their respective Blights, getting excited over the prospect of heartbreak, not knowing that in those very same cutscenes a magic time travel twist would wrench it away from me. I was lied to, and those shots of Urbosa stumbling to her knees & Revali being shot are the most damningly misguiding clips I have ever seen in a trailer.

The game was great. The only Warriors game I didn't get bored with, and actually finished. However it is not what they advertised. The story/timeline doesn't further the main story. It's self-contained.
