After upgrading the seat and rear suspension on my Bobber 20, I can ride for hours with no pain and actually feel comfortable. Makes me love my Scout even more.
I've been riding my Scout Bobber for about 3 years and totally understand that it's not for everyone. Like all motorcycles, it has its advantages and disadvantages. People may not want to imagine another American motorcycle because of their attachment to Harley-Davidson, but I encourage everyone to give an Indian a chance. In any case, it is a beauty, it has performance and endless driving fun. But it is also uncomfortable and snappy. Everyone should decide for themselves whether they are missing the missing package in terms of sports modes or other electronic helpers. But for me it was the perfect decision. Here in Germany people talk about my Indian a lot when it’s parked on the street. Unfortunately, there are still too few motorcyclists here who are familiar with Indian's current model range.
I’m really enjoying my scout bobber. If it’s mostly around town riding I think the bobber handles perfectly. I don’t enjoy riding it for long stretches on the highway, but for backroads it’s a blast
@@IronBornRider Exactly my thought. I swapped the original seat for the one from the Rogue and I can manage almost 100km (~60 miles) before my tailbone starts hurting. Indian Bobber Scout Twenty owner from cologne germany here. I agree 110%. Even at the gas station ppl hold on and wanna instantly smalltalk about how sick n rare my bike looks. I LOVE Harley aswell for sure BUT i dont wanna miss my baby one single day!
Another german Indian Scout Rider from around Cologne here :) I compared some of the HD Models against my Scout and i found the scout a lot more fun and reliable motorcycle.
@@lucidfox. I got the Comfort+ Solo Seat for my Bobber 20, and I've had no issues with pain in my tailbone or my back. I also upgraded the rear shocks at the same time, so that probably contributed. The Bobber 20 also comes with the 10" mini apes so my seated position is upright. That probably helps with any back pain as well.

I’m in the same boat. Saw a few Scout Bobbers and Rogue’s this weekend really got me thinking of getting rid of my 48. I love the low profile look, blacked out matte, larger tank and 6 gear. My 2.1 peanut tank is a pain in the a** but I love the rawness of my 48. The vibration, noise, handling, local dealer support (very few Indian dealers in New England) and aftermarket support takes the slight edge. Got my 48 a year ago and kind of think the Scout would have been a better long term choice. Great video. 😪
I thought I was the only one lol. I too love the 48 and thought about keeping it but I can’t justify having two similar bikes in the garage. I’m leaning towards the scout bobber 20, stay tuned
I'm waiting for Royal Enfield to produce their KX 838 "Bobber", it is based on Royal Enfield's own 1938 KX 1140, so the 838 is a mixture of old meets new styling, modern cast aluminum girder forks, cast aluminum single sided swinging arm with a single shock hidden under it's tan leather tractor seat, modern Brembo brakes and that liquid cooled 838cc motor producing 90 hp and 100 Nm of torque. It will certainly be a winner here in Europe if RE ever get round to producing it. It's now five years since the KX 838 made it's show debut.
I have a 2023 scout rogue and i love it. I went from a Honda monkey to the scout. People said 100 horsepower was going to be too much for my second bike but the transition was very smooth.

Just traded my Sporty 48 on a Indian FTR s. I kept telling myself that the Sporty makes doing this trade kinda hard as it did not do anything badly and it was a very fun bike. But….at the end of the day…the 2.1 gal tank IS a pain and trading up to a six speed WITH a lot of real suspension and a lot more power won out for me. Loved my Harley but Indian has some really nice bikes too.
Nice review IBR 👍. The Scout line is a descent platform, although not as much aftermarket as Sportster line. An yeah that stock seat is probably good 20 or 30 min at best.. 😖🤣

The scout bobber and scout rogue are best motorcycles you can buy in my opinion if you were looking for a bar hopper, cool bad ass looking bike, there’s nothing close to it
Love the 48, just a badass sporty. Some of the stuff people complain about are the reasons others love it. That being said-the Scout Bobber is a cool bike too. They are 2 different machines though, like comparing apples and oranges.
To the people wondering about comfort, y'all should go for the standard scout. As a owner of one I can tell you that the comfort difference is way too big.
Couldn't agree more. The often overlooked "standard" Scout and the smaller-engined Scout 60 both have more suspension travel. Bonus - they also have proper traditional full size fenders too! In my opinion the Scout 60 with less engine chrome is the better looking bike for way less money.
I’d like to see you test ride the Triumph Bonneville Bobber. Then I’d like to see which one you like best out of the Forty-Eight, Scout Bobber and the Nightster

I’m only 5’5” and 155lbs and what I love about my Triumph Bobber compared to others is it’s looks with tractor seat and exposed rear tire, bar end mirrors, comfort (believe it or not), sitting fairly upright with low handlebars, mid pegs and 3.5 inches of mono shock suspension. It has great torque and hp AND sound from parallel twin. Also great, nimble handling with short rake and only about 500 lbs. It also has ABS, traction control and a great speedometer with fuel range! I don’t ride it long distances, but still have over 11,000 on my 2017, riding San Diego backroads! Ride safe and enjoy your Indian. It’s a beautiful bike as well!

There aren’t very many dealerships near me that support triumphs so access ends up being an issue. But I definitely want to get a few test rides on a few triumphs in 2024
You nailed it Sottashdown. IMO, the Triumph Bobber is best suited for riders of a smaller stature. Standard controls on the Scout Bobber are better for a taller, longer-legged rider. However, Indian also offer the flexibility of Reduced Reach and (even more) Extended Reach bars, seats and foot controls too. Brilliant!
So, which of the two is the faster bike? I think that depends, and I'm not talking about who is riding it. I think it depends on what rpm we are talking about. What rpm do you plan to ride? I do my riding mostly at relatively low rpm. That's just where I prefer to ride. However, if you are the high rpm rider and you need to get to the end of the 1/4 mile first, then get the Scout, and if you like your power down low, you might prefer the 48. The 48 will shine where the Scout is a bit lame, and it goes the other way too. That's just the nature of the two bikes. The Indian might look like a long stroke V- twin, but it isn't. It is however a V-twin. I'm wondering what the motor of the Scout sounds like, and I'm not talking about what comes out the exhaust. With Sportsters, we usually hear a bit of cam gear noise and other hardware making it's rounds, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, unless over time and miles it gets progressively worse which I expect will happen in time. So anyway, I find myself wondering what the Scout motor really sounds like....besides a lawnmower. "Scuse me for saying so, but to me every V twin sounds like a lawnmower if it isn't an older style Harley. To me, that's just the nature of things as they are, but everyone's ear is different. So anyway, I'm still wondering about what the Scout motor sounds like. I am looking at new bikes and it's not an easy decision. My list is down to 4.
Good point about rpm. The sportster 48 seems to have a bit more thump down low but even then I would still the scout. I prefer how the scout handles the corners, and you can accelerate out of the corners really well with the scout.
If you wanted smooth, I have no Idea why you bought a Harley EVO powered bike. I own 3 EVO powered Harleys, and my main reason for buying them was the sound that they make, and the fact that they will almost shake your teeth out. Those are things I want in a motorcycle. I rode smooth, quite Japanese cruisers for a long time, out of necessity, when what I really wanted was an EVO powered Harley. If you want smooth, H-D makes the Deadwire.
I love evo engines because it’s not smooth lol. I didn’t get rid of it for that reason. But I can also appreciate smooth engines too. Very different experiences and both are enjoyable.
I rode the scout and found out i wasn't a fan myself. I ended up getting a Forty Eight instead. Now if it was between say a sportster S and a scout. I would go scout regardless.
I test rode the Scout 69”, both regular and bobber and the FTR. FTR was a fun hooligan bike. The Indian Scout never spoke to me. Coming from a 1982 Suzuki GS1100, I was not impressed with the Scout. It just felt flaccid. Adding a second bike to my stable, I was not looking to for a metric power band. I settled on a Sporty 1200T with the 4.5 gallon tank that typically goes 200 miles before needing a pit stop. I’m sure a stock Scout 69 could take it in a race, even with the add ons I have on the Sporty, but the fastest legal limit in the slow US of A where I am at is 70mph and most side roads are 35-45 mph.
I'm sure the Scout is a great bike, superior in many ways to the air cooled sporty but like a lot of the metrics and even the new sportser, they just don't have "it". Its not just the sound, its somethin else I an't put my finger on, but they just don't have "it" IMO. Its why i got a older XR1200 instead of gettin a new bike, there might be faster and better handlin bikes with more whiz bang tech, but they aren't as cool. I "might" ride my XR up to md for a family reunion, if i do, i'll let you know. You can take it for a ride and I bet you'll be in the market for one.
the difference is the experience, you want a more modern bike get the Indian, want a more retro experience ride get the Harley, want to ride a classic Camaro or a new model?
48 has discontinued in 2023 thats really sad for 48 lover i have reads some news about it they said they gon put the revolution max engine for 48, but i think that engine design is ugly for 48 which is evolution engine is more aggressive and cooler.
The 48 is a cool bike but since you already have the LRS I definitely would have gotten the Scout. The 48 in a lot of ways is just a smaller, lighter, and less powerful LRS. The Scout is completely different.
A couple of other details to keep in mind regarding the Scout Bobber: 1) it's liquid cooled, unlike the Sporty; 2) the air filter is located under the tank, so you're not constantly banging your shin.
I had a scout bobber and I kind of hated it. There is no aftermarket for it. Its too low to take corners with any speed. Wildly uncomfortable with again, no aftermarket to fix it. The 48 can be made to be faster with aftermarket parts. You could make it a dirtbike if you wanted. 48 was the right way to go.
When did you own your bobber? There are seats, suspension, mid controls, bars, fairings etc to change the comfort. Bobbers were never a comfort bike but there are parts available and more coming to market all the time.

Besides being a cheap provocation to Indian (motorcycle) owners (100% based on the historical rivalry between the two brands) owing to the fact that I am an H-D owner, H-D grew to become much bigger than Indian overtime not only in sales, but in particular in the recognition of its brand by the wider public (on a global scale, btw, due to H-D selling and manufacturing motorcycles outside the US for a long time now) and the association of its name to motorised two-wheeled vehicles and the V-Twin. To many, H-D is a synonym to motorcycles (and I think that all this is pretty much undisputed, anyway). Also the discussion on who copied who is pretty ridiculous considering that at the time these two companies were formed ALL motorcycles essentially looked like bycicles with an engin. But whatever.

Ive ridden different style bikes and the scout bobber was the most comfortable bike ive ever ridden. Super good for my back. I was very impressed.

My uncle has this bike and he is 6'3" and road from southern Canada to Alaska and found it very comfortable.

When I had my scout bobber, the first thing I did was replace the seat. I bought that syndicate to up seat. And it made a huge difference.

I had a scout bobber and I kind of hated it. There is no aftermarket for it. Its too low to take corners with any speed. Wildly uncomfortable with again, no aftermarket to fix it.
The 48 can be made to be faster with aftermarket parts. You could make it a dirtbike if you wanted. 48 was the right way to go.
True that the 48 has a ton of aftermarket support to make it whatever you want
Just curious, but was this a bike you test drove before purchase?
When did you own your bobber? There are seats, suspension, mid controls, bars, fairings etc to change the comfort. Bobbers were never a comfort bike but there are parts available and more coming to market all the time.

There is almost zero plastic on the scout bobber. I doubt you rode anything . I owned one of these for 2 years and it was a fantastic bike.

Besides being a cheap provocation to Indian (motorcycle) owners (100% based on the historical rivalry between the two brands) owing to the fact that I am an H-D owner, H-D grew to become much bigger than Indian overtime not only in sales, but in particular in the recognition of its brand by the wider public (on a global scale, btw, due to H-D selling and manufacturing motorcycles outside the US for a long time now) and the association of its name to motorised two-wheeled vehicles and the V-Twin. To many, H-D is a synonym to motorcycles (and I think that all this is pretty much undisputed, anyway). Also the discussion on who copied who is pretty ridiculous considering that at the time these two companies were formed ALL motorcycles essentially looked like bycicles with an engin. But whatever.
