    Nice video. I have a 2021 standard version. ( I came off HD's also ). Some of your comments I can agree with. I must have gotten one with a good battery. 3 years old still fires right up. Keep in mind, I ride it just about every day though. In the winter, I do not take battery out of the bike. Gets a maint. charge every 5 days, and it has held up fine. Don't be in a big hurry to swap out air cleaner. Nobody yet has documented proof of any significant HP gains, other than butt dyno. I had about 15000 mi. on my bike this spring, so thought I would take a look at air cleaner. Looked like new. Next time I go through the effort, I will put in iridium tipped plugs also. I am also not ready to put new shocks on, as I have done enough tweaking, that I can tolerate the ride for a tank of gas or so. I knew this coming into the purchase, as I do not really tour anymore. This was a very refreshing change, and a great retirement gift to myself. Enjoy your bike.

    Ngl you’ve made me feel more comfortable with letting go of my HD Roadster to get into the LRST platform. I’ve been playing with the thought of having two different makes of bikes for different reasons. All in all HD is a better platform for relaxed touring. I love my Roadster, and I know you loved your 883 with the 1200cc upgrade, and then your 48. All in all I see why you still wanted that bigger engine and that Softail platform. I’m still searching for that final reason to let go of my Roadster entirely given Sportys will never come back.

      I think harley has been thrown off their game. Thet cancelled the evo 883s 1200s 72s 48s and instead started selling sportster s and nightster which i think people like the scout more than, and they also sell all electric brick bikes now too

    Have a scout twenty as well, rear shocks are brutal, rpm guage sucks and seat leaves something to be desired. But the handling, styling and drivetrain more than makes up for it. added a raptor shift light instead of the 300$ indian offering, sawicki 2 to 1 exhaust and plan to swap seat eventually. If you can fix or work around the quirks it's well worth it.

    My buddy who has a harley sat on my bike as it idled and was in shock how there was no shaking. He said his bike shakes really hard while riding and idle.

    The stage 1 really improved performance in my eyes. I get an avg of 46-50mpg and I was shocked because I live in western PA and there are a lot of hills. I bought mine used and it has the radical radius pipes and the drone is insane. That being said tho it has been in the shape for the past two months with a 651 error code because one of the cylinders stopped firing.

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  11 місяців тому

      To me the radical radius sounds the best from all the full exhaust systems I’ve heard on the scout. Could you feel a difference in power at all? I know 2-2 pipes aren’t ideal if you’re looking for power

    • @MastaKeahi
      @MastaKeahi 11 місяців тому

      @@IronBornRider The sound really is great especially under hard acceleration, but highway can get very obnoxious. They do make passenger pegs a lot more difficult since they need an offset bracket and the heat from them is insane even with the heat shield if I don’t have on thicker riding pants I can’t really hug the tank at all with my legs. But the style of the pipes allows for more lean angle. The power is punchier I find myself sliding back a lot more if I’m not careful. If the limiter is removed it could definitely go well over 120mph.

    Glad you're enjoying the ISB 20. I love mine. The tank is 3 1/2"/13mm bolts and a quick release plug. Takes about 2 mins to remove it. The pros/cons of the airfilter location are very subjective. I dont mind it, as its out of the way and hidden better from elements and my leg/foot. Stock suspension front/back is completely crap tho. I upgraded the rear shocks first and the stock seat actually wasnt to bad. I also dont see the price difference between makes like Saddlemen seats, pegs, intakes, bars, etc are all similarly or the same price.

    It's funny how the sky high prices for aftermarket stuff can also influence the desire to mod lol Like you say, the lack of aftermarket stuff can make the prices higher but explain honda monkey part prices then? tons of aftermarket and it's all still sky high lol That extra loudness can be attributed to that higher compression, always seems to go hand in hand. Engine design plays a big role too of course but I always noticed that things with over 10-1 compression always seem to be extra loud. • @raybrensike42
    @raybrensike42 9 місяців тому

    If I could change something on a Scout, I would want a 4 speed transmission. The way I would like to ride is to go through a gear and then shift and then go through the whole range of rpm again, and then shift, as long as the motor has enough grunt to pull through. Why shift all the time? Isn't that only for the guy that has to be first at the end of a 1/4 mile? That's not me. I'm not that guy. That's not how I ride. I like going fast, and I can do that right off of idle, but only if I have a Harley, but there is more out there than just Harleys.
    I would also like rear shock that have about 3 inches of travel with a spring selection based on my weight and whether or not I ride with a passenger, and I would like adjustment for both rebound and compression. It all works together, but without travel what do you have to work with? Nothing. I wish the seat height was made by reshaping the frame rather than by robbing the suspension, which to me seems like a hack job. Where were the engineers?
    I like the quickly detachable fairing for the Scout. How about quick detach lowers for the trips which will always include some rain? I would also like a 200-mile fuel range. I was thinking that a guy could get a high back seat made, and right behind it, form an aluminum fuel tank going back across the fender with a raised back, shaped to look like a thickly padded seat, but it's really a two gallon gas tank, and at the high part in the back have a Velcro flap that hides a filler neck and cap. Cover the whole thing as if it was a seat to math the rider seat. Then all you need is a valve you could turn with your left hand when the fuel light comes on.
    I think I would like quieter exhaust if it wouldn't kill performance too much. I don't mind a little bit of sound, but I think the trend is going too loud for my taste. Everyone is different.
    I like the old-fashioned analog style speedometer and don't' need a tach. I don't believe a speedometer should pin itself as soon as you turn on a key. That I don't need. Seems silly to me. Either the speedometer will work, or it won't, and you will find out when you ride it. I guess I'm a bit old school. I do need a fuel gauge, no lights. I need a bright headlight for night riding. I need a touring seat, one that is wider, one made for the rider and not for the look of the bike. That's just personal preference stuff. Not all of us are the same.

    I've been looking at videos on Harley 48, Scouts, Triumph Speed Master, Honda 1100 Rebel, and I'm sure they are all good bikes. To me everything sounds like a lawn mower except for the Harley. I just can't get over it. Everyone seems to be all about exhaust and how it sounds, but to me, they all sound like lawnmowers any way, and I don't want to hear anything but a quiet drone of the motor on a Sportster as I go down the highway. I want it easy on my ears.
    So what I want to know is, how quiet is the Scout motor, and by that I mean the motor itself? I'm thinking it might be the quietest motor, but it's difficult to tell with all the exhaust noise. Does anyone know? Harley has some valve gear noise and pushrod stuff going on, and although it's not necessarily a bad thing, in time that can get to getting louder than it should be.

    Scout Bobber or Streetbob 114?

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  11 місяців тому

      Good question. Just off the bat I think streetbob has more potential for being a better all around motorcycle. Streetbob is more comfortable stock, but scout bobber is more fun (power and handling).

      @@IronBornRider Thanks for the reply mate, I'm looking at both, but being on my Ps for a few more months, can't really test it yet. Hopefully will get my hands on both.
      I'm not sure if you shared the cost or not in other videos, but I have in the past added a few of the accessories from Indian and they don't show the cost.
      Excluding the bike, how much were the accessories? as i'm looking at very similar mods from "factory" pathfinder headlight, comfort seat, tachometer, piggyback rear shocks, 5" mini apes (assuming it's the reduced reach handlebar)...
      maybe they sent you an accessories price list?
