My dad was once driving near Elko Nevada when he stopped at a crash scene, an elderly man had been driving in the middle of the night and hit a semi truck, luckily everyone was fine and the man told the state trooper on scene that he had hit a deer, the trooper looked at the 4 inches of the man’s car that had been sheered of by the truck and told him “sir you did not hit a deer”

Some years ago I worked security in an inner city hospital, one night we had a guy brought in who was out of his head on PCP, with great difficulty we got him into restraints,only to have him break them, and attempt to flee, this attempt was halted, when he ran right into C.P.D. Officer Sergio Oliva, ( who had been the Mr Olympus body building champ, several years running) a guy so large, that he had to have his uniform shirts custom made, who was just arriving on an unrelated matter. Sergio took one look at this guy, grabbed him by his shirt and belt, and body slammed him back onto the gurney, and held him down with one hand, while we scrambled to reapply the restraints, when we were done, Sergio, pointed at the guy and said in his heavy Cuban accent " now you be a good boy! " the guy just looked at him in abject terror, and nodded his head, we had no trouble with him after that, and for some time after whenever we were forced to subdue a rowdy individual, once we had him under control, we'd point at him, and say now you be a good boy!

That Florida man leg thing happened here in Missouri awhile back. Older man hit a teenager late at night and thought it was a deer. He called and reported that he hit a deer and when police arrived they found a body. Guy was never charged.
Happened in Dallas about ten years ago now. Drunk woman hit a homeless man, he went partially through the windshield. She drove home, parked in her garage and left him half stuck in the windshield. Alive. It apparently took him 2-3 days to actually die.

Unfortunatley defamation lawsuits are usually an uphill battle for the plaintiff. Normally US judges will tend to avoid infringements on 1st amendment freedom of speech in most scenarios.

You know, i'm gonna be honest, it's very easy to be angry when you don't see the full story, and most of these situations I didn't know that the suspects had done anything to start the fight.
