Pony Life was just the actresses having fun, many of the lines were even improv! There's just such a positive energy in the show and you can tell that everyone involved was having a blast
I still find the headcanon that Ponylife episodes were the stories which Sunny and Hitch made up when playing with their figurines as foals to be the best /)
Like what happens with Many Anime franchises, MLP: Pony Life was a Comical Spin-off done in a more Chibi art style, with the cast being Flanderized versions of themselves for more Comedic effects & storytelling, it has been unfairly compared to Teen Titans Go(which is just a Stupid Show with Crappy Characters in Pointless Episodes), but given the choice I'd pick Pony Life Any Day! It's not a Bad series, it's just not something that the Fandom was expecting to happen.
The show was fine, it ran its course and I don't miss it. I believe that Gen 4 was wrapping up anyway because Gen 5 was coming soon. It was just something short to watch before Gen 5 came.
Yeah, I've only seen clips of the Trixie episode and it's the only one I might watch in full some day because Trixie is actually sweet and humble and I love it.
I thought the chibi designs were okay, although the colors felt way more dull than the original show, it’s especially noticeable on AJ RD and Twilight. I wish they had colored outlines so they would fit with the backgrounds more and not look like stickers randomly placed there, they didn’t even have shadows!(backgrounds were super flat by the way) I watched a few episodes but had to just drop it cause the characters weren’t like they used to be and I couldn’t get past the abilities thing. It just felt so random! Like I was watching an alternate universe or something.
I tried watching Pony Life, I LOVED the energy of it, but the art style made me actually have headaches, not the character design but the weird backgrounds/perspective things? Idk. The stories were eh? Also Applejack joined pinkie in breaking fourth walls.💀
Why are their eyes muted and lifeless? Is that a commentary on doll's eyes? Seriously, the figures are so much better in that cat-pony style when the eyes are fully colored. It looks weird when they try to recreate this muted style.
The dumbed down characters were actually a good thing because the writers had completely overloaded the characters through 9 seasons of characterization that was sometimes constructive but ultimately repetitive and at worst contradictory. This show was exactly what MLP needed as a refresher.
I haven't at all finished Pony Life. I watched the first four episodes, as well as Unboxing Day, and didn't really watch any of the others. I guess I just lost interest, but those episodes I did watch, I had a lot of fun with. Especially How Applejack Got Her Hat Back, and the grey scale pony trio.
I watched pony life a year ago and felt lost with a lot of what you were talking about, I didn't know who the potion's pony was, got kinda confused when you said that the show had two seasons of nearly 20 episodes, and lost my mind when cadence and shining armour appeared Now I've searched the episodes in spanish (the language which I choosed to watch it) and all of them are dubbed, but for some reason the official channel of MLP in spanish has nearly half the episodes of the first season uploaded and then "cute impact" and "the comet section" are like the series finale, they still have more than half of the episodes to upload and they hadn't done it for 3 years, and because of this it ends up that the only way to watch pony life in spanish is downloading the episodes in fanpages, this means that it has been an entire year since I binged it and didn't know about this because of such "nothing show" to the spanish part of the fandom, and now I don't know if this is a known fact or not, but anyways, funny shit, not even MLP cares about pony life at least now I know that I have more MLP content to watch
I feel like this series might've been a way to scare off the "Brony" fandom after G4 ended, so that they could go a more classical route with G5 instead of trying to appease the insanity cult that followed the massive success of G4.
