one character i really wish had made more than one major appearance is moon dancer. i really liked her design and i think it could have been cool for twilight to have a friend from canterlot she hangs out with sometimes, and be a sort of look into twilight's old life before the show. it's especially sad since the entire episode she starred in was about how upset she was that twilight basically ditched her, only for her to get abandoned a second time by the series itself.
Silver and Twist do get some good roles and actual lines of dialogue in the comics. Diamond gets so much more development. I never cared for Babs Seed until the comix. Both those issues were great. In the show's finale you can see an adult Diamond Tiara, Silver Spoon and an emaciated Twist in the background together. One final insult to the most widely forgotten and or hated pony in the fandom. But at least they are all together. That makes me smile. ;D
@@hearmeout1767 IDW Friends Forever #16 gives more development to Silver Spoon. Diamond is the same heartless brat she is before season 5. There is also a two issue story in the main IDW comic where Silver and Diamond get lost in the woods with the CMC and they share things about their own lives and help each other to survive the night. Diamond gets several issues after her "redemption" in season 5. Twist gets supporting cast dialogue and I can't recall in what issues.
Also there's that one episode where Rarity and Big Mac were part of a singing quartet called The Pony Tones with two other ponies whose names were never even mentioned on-screen, and then The Pony Tones are never mentioned again and Rarity and Big Mac still act like complete strangers afterwards.
i wish we got cozyglow reformed, someone made a theory about how diamond tiara would be the perfect pony to reform her, which would fix the diamond tiara being "forgotten"
For early characters like Twist and Blueblood, they were put in a time of the show when it was obvious that the writers didn't plan the next several seasons of the series. In that regard i think it was quite alright for them to be relegated as backgrounds or special cameos. Wish i could say the same for Philomena For characters like Babs, Silver Spoon, and Diamond Tiara to be forgotten is very, very silly. S6 and 7 were good seasons to make more episodes about them (especially in s7 considering the CMC had several episodes). For Sugar Belle's friends and the Pie Sisters, i think cameos are also fine. I never thought the Pie Sisters were forgotten, especially since they had speaking roles in The Best Gift Ever I agree that Stygian got the worst end of the stick. There was a passing mention in the Legends of Equestria comics where Somnambula suggested that Stygian corresponds to Friendship while the rest of the Pillars correspond to the other Elements. This was just a glimpse into how important his role could've been, especially in s9 when the Student 6 embraced their own connection to the Tree of Harmony. But even they were underused. We should've gotten one episode dedicated to each of the Student 6 (instead of lumping em together in the same ones), instead the writers thought that episodes about Rainbow Dash cheerleading and Twilight freaking over a quiz and Applejack's farming shenanigans are what the final seasons needed.
If we got more episodes for each season, I think it would have been great to see more of these characters. Some I would have liked to see more of were the pillars and how they were doing
You'd think that Lightning Dust would have the same redemption arc and ego as Trixie Lulamoon did and truly deserves a second chance. Lightning Dust must have been pretty upset when her number one rank was overtaken by Spitfire and Rainbow Dash, she did after all have gold medals in her younger days. Your ideas on Little Strongheart, I can really relate to. I assume the buffaloes got superseded by the yaks. If only we saw how Stygian was going to take his legacy to the next level and get credit where it was due. It's a bit wasteful to make colourful characters with personality with one-time or few-time appearances. A character I would've wanted to see more of is Pistachio, because I think for a stallion, he's adorable.
I'm just going to come out and say it: reforming antagonists, only to never use them again afterwards, is stupid. It's one thing if they don't show up again because of the Redemption Equals Death trope, but why bother reforming antagonists we will never see again in the show itself? Diamond Tiara and Stygian are the biggest offenses in my book, one being one of the show's consistent antagonists up until her redemption in the middle of the season... and then they just left her behind. Seems the only reason they did it was to just give the CMC their cutie marks, but needed a way to push Diamond Tiara out of the picture because they wouldn't be blank flanks anymore. Then there's Stygian, who only appeared in Shadow Play... and then nothing. Maybe the reason he and the Pillars were sidelined was because of the whole School of Friendship plotline, but as interesting of mythology as they are, why bring them into the mainline world if you aren't going to do much with them? Especially the villain you go out of your way to reform?! At least Stygian got two whole story arcs to himself, while Diamond only got minor roles in stories about Filthy Rich after her reformation. But you just so happened to forget someone else, too: Gilda. First the antagonist of Griffin the Brush Off, then we never saw her again until Season 5, and then she just completely disappeared. We saw more griffins like Gabby and Gallus, but not our prior main griffin. Again, she turned good in her second appearance, so why not bring her back when introducing the others? Especially when bringing them back as one of the major species in Season 8?
@@TheSultan1470 This show was never really clear when arcs ended. Unless characters were killed off or trapped somewhere for good, there wasn't anything that said their arcs were over. Look at the Dazzlings, who hadn't any reason to return after they lost, and they eventually came back in Backstage Pass.
Hm, I guess so. With DT, when she got reformed, I believe towards the end of the show, it was pretty clear her time was over. The Dazzlings were simply defeated, that's different.
To be completely fair, it was probably for the best that all the buffalo characters were forgotten. The episode was poorly received and accused of stereotyping Native Americans while promoting their genocide. I can understand Hasbro wanting to just forget it ever happened.
Of all the characters mentioned here, Marble and Limestone are the ones I most would have wanted more out of. We got almost nothing about them, and they're IMPORTANT because they are the sisters of one of the main characters of the show :(
I might aswell put the shadowbolts (from friendship games and the ponies in the pilot), the 5 girls didn't appear much after Dance Magic or what, but sunny flare and indigo zap appeared in the background.
Tbh, Blueblood had potential but it was wasted. I expected him to be evil and be the son of King Sombra and Nightmare Moon. Unfortunately, all we got was a genderbent Diamond Tiara. Rhyme NOT intended.
What I’m really getting from this video is that they should’ve taken a lot of stuff from the comics and put it into the show lol. I learned Zecora had a whole comic and an another species of pony like creatures based on African Mythology(Abada I think?) and it’s just way too cool 😭
I have to say, though, I didn't really like the whole "multiple trees of harmony" thing. It just felt kind of off. I did like that we got more stories for other kingdoms with it, though
@@milocatfromhellyeah I also didn't like the idea of multiple Trees of Harmony. The Tree we had felt like this mysterious force that connected three generations of ponies together, having more of them feels cheap. Also why was Discord again being blamed for something that went wrong in the past? The writers should've stopped retconning villains and their motivations back into the past over and over again
@@mon_moi Exactly. It felt like the Young 6 and Pillars all over again. And I mean, I'm not completely against the idea of the elements being represented by different creatures in different kingdoms and generations, but I feel like the Mane 6 should be the bearers, at least for a very long time. There were a couple of fanfics I read at some point that had the idea that the Mane 6 would be reincarnated in a couple of different ways, and I have to say, I really like the ideas that were presented in it.
I really wish they showed how Stygian's relationships with the pillars ensued after the season 7 finale, and how each one of them came to reconcile with him after coming to terms with what they did to him. I feel like the story of Stygian being exiled from the Pillar's group was a clear illustration of the hypocrisy that many of Equestria's heroes convey. When they have great power, the try to keep it for themselves and utilize them for their own interest. But when other ponies/creatures have similar powers and abilities or seek to gain great powers and abilities for their own interests, the heroes try to prevent them from gaining that power, or try to exploit that creatures' powers and abilities for their own benefits instead. It would have been nice if their was an episode where the heroes get called out for their own hypocrisy and double standards when it comes to power in their world.
Aside from the Pillars, which other Equestrian heroes are you referring to? And yes, I to was disappointed that we didn’t see the Pillars reconcile with Stygian.
@@tesslichtman7302 Aside from the pillars, I think the mane 6 and princess Celestia show instances of contradicting their principles and being inherently self-interested. Such as when Celestia states that she "has uses for Discord's powers if they can be reformed for good," in the episode 'Keep calm and Flutter on'. This gives the impression Celestia wasn't interested in reforming Discord because she thought he could become a better individual and a friend, but rather because his fantastical powers could be utilized for her benefits when she saw fit. And for the mane 6, you have several instances where they are inherently self-interested, such as in 'Amending Fences' were Twilight consistently stalks and borderline harasses Moondancer about reconnecting as friends. She flat out states, "You have to let me make this up to you" to Moondancer. This comes off more as her trying to relinquish her guilt about abandoning her friend given her position as the Friendship princess rather than making her feel better. Further highlighting out she is driven out of self-interest, rather than sympathy and remorse.
i wish we'd see more of Autumn Blaze, she was such a great character, but they still only put her into like 2 episodes, where she was the main character only once
I love how far in-depth you went with each of these random characters and their roles, honestly reminds me of Star Wars and its Glup Shitto characters ngl
I heard the reason Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon were dropped was because Hasbro wouldn't approve any more episodes for them. Hasbro claimed there was nothing more to do with them and wouldn't budge on it
I want to see more of the Pirates and capper And princess skystar and Queen novo Tempest shadow Grubber There’s also twilight old friends Moondancer included
Awesome video! I think a lot of these characters you’ve mentioned are criminally underrated, and deserve more character development. In fact, one of my favorite underrated MLP characters is Marble Pie because I kinda felt bad for her nowadays when she got dumped by Big Mac in favor of Sugar Belle.
How come Stygian didn't the equal amount of screen time as Starswirl and the other Pillars? Imagine if he was introduced as a love interest for Twilight Sparkle since they both love history?
I think another forgotten character was Mr. Cake, his last dialogue was on 'The one where Pinkie knows' and after that he never had a voice line again, he made some vague appearances after, it would make sense if Mrs cake didn't became important on the last seasons, why ignoring his character when they are giving Mrs cake plot relevance? He became a background pony after that and the baby cakes were just slightly more important.
Logically the royal guards should have gone to prince blueblood instead of Twilight when Celestia and Luna vanished in the episode Princess Twilight Sparkle, they said they went to her because they're royal guards she's royalty but going to her instead of him was like if the queen of England was kidnapped in the early 90's and they went to the more popular and better liked princess Diana for help instead of the older and more established royalty, the than prince Charles.
i think with a cast so big it's impossible to give them all focus ,even the pets aside from angel were moved aside in later seasons (the owl completely disappeared) but that's why comics and quality fan content are great... some characters like Celestia , Luna and Cadence are imporant but we really don't know thaaat much about them from the show alone. Twilight's old friends could've made more appearances with her. as for Babs ,i honestly disliked her in the show because of the stupidly conveyed message and making the CMCs look like "bullies" when they were just trying to stand up for themselves while babs did not get any repercussions for what she did ,she knows what it's like to be bullied and that does not excuse her bullying. BUT she is very likable and sounds mature in the comics , i wish the show could've presented her in that way too.
I find it kinda cool that Pinkie is the only Colourful and Active character in her Family, being into Parties and all, while her Family are all plain and on a Rock Farm, and all serious, I do wish we had more screen time for them, especially because of the Interesting difference between Pinkie and her Family
You forgot the storm king. If twilight and her friends just saved both tempest and storm king put him behind bars in tartarus. He would have been a great addition to cozy glow, lord tired and queen chrysalis. SCREW YOU
I personally think that Flash Sentry should've gotten more character development. He could've been much more than the romantic interest for Twilight, but I think he felt abandoned, forgotten, actually.
These are minor minor characters but the cows from Applebuck Season and the sheeps from Sisterhooves social are forgotten and it gives me slave vibes since they're Applejack's herds. They talk like the ponies and Applejack pretty much told the cows to stay away from ponyville and when they round up the sheeps. One of the sheeps says "You could've just ask" implying that they could've come in the fence without geetting chase by Applejack. And Applejack slam the door after saying that while the sheeps are in shock. LIke why does AJ need them in a Apple farm!? Glad they throw that out since it's the early days of MLP.
2 of my favourite characters are Rara (Countess Coloratura) and Autumn Blaze. They were both in like just 1 episode but I really wish I could’ve seen them more because I really love them. I’m even working on an Autumn Blaze cosplay! Also where do you find those mlp comics? Because I really want to read them
rara's voice actor was a guest star, so i assume that they couldn't rehire her and that's why she never made another appearance, but it's still really sad because i really liked her too.
Let’s not forget Zephyr Breeze. It took them six seasons to introduce us to Fluttershy’s family, and the only other appearance Zephyr makes is in the sibling supreme episode where he is hired by Princess Luna to be a guard?! Why would he even accept the offer? He’s a many stylist! Zephyr Breeze deserved better.
I forgot about philimina. Thaycwas a good one. And lightning dust. And little strong heart and bab seed and those ponies in starlights cult. Including big macs wife. I also forgot about stingian God I miss this show😢😢😢😢

Mlp characters are mostly popular, but I never knew that some of them they’ll be used and unused wow, OK Bro what do you call a horse that flies around come on guys? ….. It’s a Pegasus for Pete sake get it.
Marble and Lime Stone could 've had each an episode with Pinkie Pie because in "The Gift of Maud Pie". Pinkie tells Rarity that she has a special day with each of her sisters. This would have given us a chance to hear marble talk and show how Lime stone runs the farm.
Not really he's her "adopted" Nephew i think he was just a one off they didn't think how she could have a nephew when Luna had been in the moon for 1000yrs. The story is he's related to Princess platinum and that's why he gets the title of prince but he has no power.
What about Cozy Glow? Depositing aside my concerning adoration of her, and the fact that i flooded everything with Cozy Glow gifs, i feel like she is rather forgotten. Or at least overloathed.
I ship her with flurry heart and wish she got a redemption arc but i like the backstory idea she was an orphan maybe someone like starlight could've adopted her both being redeemed villain and stuff.
I definitely think not exploring Star Swirl and Stygian's Friendship more after the Season 7 finale was a missed opportunity. They were banished together for over 1000 years so I would have loved to see what that realm was like for them (whether it felt instant or not). Also we don't see any of how Stygian coped with the new world, and whether or not he fully forgave the pillars, besides the fact that he published a book on his experiences. I would have loved to see a full episode of Star Swirl just exploring Equestria and showing off his character / magic abilities that Twilight's been idolising over the whole series (going from Cloudsdale to Saddle Arabia to Mane Hattan etc) and then (maybe in the same episode) getting to properly reconcile with Stygian. They really didn't do much with him in the show. We got that one Friendship University episode but it left so much to be desired in terms of Star Swirl as a character. In the comics (reflections arc) he was an eccentric genius who had like 4 different accounts of how he found his hat, he was like a mix of Pinkie Pie and Twilight, but in Friendship University he is way too naive for no reason. I guess we got to see them exploring while looking for the Pony of Shadow's but it all felt rushed (fair enough, since they were in a rush) but I would have like to see the pillars and the mane 6 interact with each other more as just friends. The Rockhoof episode was really good too but it really felt like with that episode they set up a lot of different possible story lines and didn't get to deliver them. Also, I wrote a 1000 word essay on why not using Diamond Tiara after Season 5 was a missed opportunity. I don't want to paste it here but it was both really efficient and really heated lol. I even reread it afterwards and was like "wow I should review books".
In the Age of Ancients the world was unformed, shrouded by fog. A land of gray crags, Archtrees and Everlasting Dragons. But then there was Fire and with fire came disparity. Heat and cold, life and death, and of course, light and dark. Then from the dark, They came, and found the Elements of Harmony within the flame. Derpy, the First of the Background Characters; The Jack of Apples and her Daughters of Everfree; Sparkle, the Lady of Twilight, and her faithful knights. And the Furtive Stygian, so easily forgotten. With the magic of Friendship, they challenged the Dragons. Twilight's mighty laser beams peeled apart their stone scales. The Apples launched great apple pies. Derpy unleashed a basket of cakes and muffins. And Spike the Spineless betrayed his own, and the Dragons were no more.

I personaly was hoping to see more of Tempest again after the movie. And the Griffon princess. Vut I agree with you
11:33 isnt surprising most characters that do nothing in the series have arcs in the comics
Sombra, Celeno, Capper, Tempest. Celestia etc
For early characters like Twist and Blueblood, they were put in a time of the show when it was obvious that the writers didn't plan the next several seasons of the series. In that regard i think it was quite alright for them to be relegated as backgrounds or special cameos. Wish i could say the same for Philomena
For characters like Babs, Silver Spoon, and Diamond Tiara to be forgotten is very, very silly. S6 and 7 were good seasons to make more episodes about them (especially in s7 considering the CMC had several episodes). For Sugar Belle's friends and the Pie Sisters, i think cameos are also fine. I never thought the Pie Sisters were forgotten, especially since they had speaking roles in The Best Gift Ever
I agree that Stygian got the worst end of the stick.
A character I would've wanted to see more of is Pistachio, because I think for a stallion, he's adorable.
i think the buffalos were left in the dust because they were kinda racist.
Because their arc is over?
@@TheSultan1470 This show was never really clear when arcs ended. Unless characters were killed off or trapped somewhere for good, there wasn't anything that said their arcs were over. Look at the Dazzlings, who hadn't any reason to return after they lost, and they eventually came back in Backstage Pass.
Hm, I guess so. With DT, when she got reformed, I believe towards the end of the show, it was pretty clear her time was over. The Dazzlings were simply defeated, that's different.
@@TheSultan1470 Diamond Tiara was reformed in the middle of Season 5. There were still four and a half seasons left at that point.
@@SmokeTheHorsehog Oh shiet
Imagine if the tree of harmony visited stygian like it visited the young six
To be completely fair, it was probably for the best that all the buffalo characters were forgotten. The episode was poorly received and accused of stereotyping Native Americans while promoting their genocide. I can understand Hasbro wanting to just forget it ever happened.
That's the dumbest reception I've read about... today.
You might as well have Spike on the list, considering the writers always forget he exists.
Oh wow, unintentional rhyme.
@chichihiwi6319 “Ok Zecora”? What does that mean?
@chichihiwi6319 What’s the joke? Why are you calling me Zecora?
@@tylermccaw8092the joke is that zecora always rhymes
@@ch3ezche3z Oh my gosh, I’m an idiot. Thank you for the explanation.
@chichihiwi6319 Hey, sorry about that, I didn’t get the joke the first time, it was so clever it just completely went over my head. Nice one!
Near the end we can see diamond tiara , silver spoon and twist all grown up and talking in the background
Little Strong Heart especially will never be forgotten by me, because I used her name for a heart themed Build-a-Bear 😅
Rhyme where?
@@lucidfangirl1030 with “Sombra” and “Tiara”. Like I said, rhyme NOT intended.
@@LegoManiac_101 ...what
@@TheSultan1470 basically, he had the potential to be a villain but sadly, that potential was wasted.
I really missed most of these, its a shame we didnt See more of them.
Oh I remember looking to african mythologies about abada they are like african unicorns.
@@sweetnova3084 yeah I googled them when I found out about them, they’re pretty cool and have two horns too
Definitely a good list of characters. I myself would`ve loved to see more of Tree Hugger in the show. c:
Hasbro claimed there was nothing more to do with them and wouldn't budge on it
Thank you for the honorable mentions.
this is really good how’s it only have 66 views
I want to see more of the Pirates and capper And princess skystar and Queen novo Tempest shadow Grubber There’s also twilight old friends Moondancer included
Awesome video! I think a lot of these characters you’ve mentioned are criminally underrated, and deserve more character development. In fact, one of my favorite underrated MLP characters is Marble Pie because I kinda felt bad for her nowadays when she got dumped by Big Mac in favor of Sugar Belle.
I’m Surprised That Some Equestria Girls Characters, Like Wallflower Blush, Weren’t Listed
How come Stygian didn't the equal amount of screen time as Starswirl and the other Pillars? Imagine if he was introduced as a love interest for Twilight Sparkle since they both love history?
8:20 She made a brief cameo in Season 9 Episode 12 "The Last Crusade", around the end of the episode.
You only ever get them in the comics which is quite sad but atleast the comics make up for it.
I feel like they didn’t know how to write in Babs into the show anymore, so they gave up
I remember all of these bozos I'm still upset we didn't get a marble toy😔
Prince Blueblood should've appeared in more episodes.
7:15 that’s not just a random pony… *PRINCESS CADENCE YOU’RE INTO ROLLER DERBY’S???*
4:00 she only appeared in a comic w RD afterwards, I love her ❤
We Need More From The Pillers
i think with a cast so big it's impossible to give them all focus ,even the pets aside from angel were moved aside in later seasons (the owl completely disappeared) but that's why comics and quality fan content are great...
some characters like Celestia , Luna and Cadence are imporant but we really don't know thaaat much about them from the show alone.
Flash Sentry is waifu stealer.

If you think about it the elements of harmony wouldn't exist if it wasn't for stygian
Glad they throw that out since it's the early days of MLP.
...to give milk
I also forgot about stingian

Marble and Lime Stone could 've had each an episode with Pinkie Pie because in "The Gift of Maud Pie". Pinkie tells Rarity that she has a special day with each of her sisters. This would have given us a chance to hear marble talk and show how Lime stone runs the farm.
Nice vid!
At least the big mayority got mentions in next episodes
Wait so when prince blue blood is the nephew of celestia, she has another sister or brother

So underrated!
You should I want to read some
Also you forgot autumn blaze
Justice for Flash sentry. He and twighlight were the cutest ❤
That was cool maybe you could be a writer for then end of gen 5 or Into if we're lucky gen 6 or 7 😅😊😂🎉❤😊

@@jasperjazzie Gallus was kind of a jerk but Gabby was too much. And that episode in general was awful. They took the entire adult population of Ponyville IQ down significantly to make the CMC look competent. And then they throw in an impossible task. I'm just glad I only had to suffer it the one time.
But, then again, every CMC episode after COTLM sucked with the Rumble episode being the exception.
