We all owned this record. An 80's classic.
Yes, I had all the best rock albums of the 70's and 80's
But this was THE album the fall of my 8th grade year.
Not me. Cassette.
Hell didn't even live then and I have that album... on RECORD lol
12/22 throughout the 80's, great time to be young. Part of me will àllways be stuck in this era and I'm good with it.
Man I miss the 80's!! What a generation of music it was to grow up in!
It's been around since the early 20th century but Ram Jam released this version in 77. Nobody released a cover of it in the 80's.
@@Shilo-fc3xm this song was released in 1987
@@samf.6298 77. Feel free to Google.
Yes. Too bad I caught the tail end of it (around 92) when there was only Guns 'n' Roses left. To this day I despise "grunge", not necessarily the music but the concept.
@@dr.juerdotitsgo5119that sucks. I was lucky to be born in 75. So I was enthralled into 80’s metal and then progressed to grunge(started when I was in High school). I love them both. The power ballad is still probably my all time fav group of songs though. I’m so blessed to have the music I had when growing up.
37yrs and this song can still give me the goose bumps
Why? Its not that great compared to so much more out there at the time. Its kinda lame actually!!
@@mistersniffer6838 thats your opinion and you are welcome to it

Mr John Sykes on the guitar. Talk about an underrated guitarist.
Can we talk about Blue Murder??? I'd love to see more people give that super group some love. That self titled album is AMAZING!

***"Is This Love" and "Here I Go Again" are Still getting Radio play today!! Must react to both***
when the guys had better hair than the girls. but honestly a great band. their "here I go again" is so iconic. thank you for your reaction and appreciation of the old stuff.
The real Here I go again, not that damn radio edit 😂
"when the guys had better hair than the girls"......reminds me of a weekend me and some friends spent at a friend's lakehouse. I was sleeping on the couch in the living room and everyone started rolling into the kitchen for breakfast. I sit up and my friend's gf looks at me and says "I hate you" cause apparently my hair (which was down to the middle of my back at the time and was pin straight chinese hair) was perfect...no bed head. Lol I miss that hair.
I ' m 56 Years old and I got still my long hair
@@michaelbuttner4262 I wish I still had my hair.....it started falling out in my late 20's. :(
First concert I ever went to, August 6, 1988 at Weedsport Speedway. Whitesnake and Great White. General admission tickets, 12 bucks! It was beyond incredible.
Dude I bet that was kickass man that's awesome.
I was at that very show. My favorite band then and still today.
Whitesnake AND Great White? sweet jesus...
And here I was just happy to see bands like Cinderella, David Lee Roth's Eat 'Em and Smile tour, and Queensryche that did a double set of Empire and then into full Operation Mindcrime. The show you got to attend sounds absolutely amazeballs.
The woman you see in the video is Tawny Kitean. She was the girlfriend of lead singer David Coverdale at the time. She was in a couple of movies in the '80s, especially "Bachelor Party". She also was in other music videos of Whitesnake, "Is This Love" and "Here I Go Again". She passed away recently in 2021.
Also, Whitesnake was very big in 1987 when this album came out. It's SOLID from start to finish. "Crying in the Rain" is amazing, but of course besides this son, "Here I Go Again" and "Is This Love" were the biggest hits. Amazing band.
Think she was also the cover model on Ratt's Out of the Cellar. Think she was dating Robbin Crosby at the time.
And wife for a few years too. RIP Tawney Kitaen
He married Tawney because she said she loved Chopin. Turns out he misheard her. She actually said, "I love shopping"
That's Coverdale's joke about her.
I also loved the lineup with Steve Vai and the hits from the Slip Of The Tongue album..I was in 8th grade in 1989...loved the power ballad Now You're Gone 😎😎
You forgot mention Tawny was bit crazy too.
Another good one of theirs is "Slow and Easy"
Absolutely
Mmhm, my favorite song.
Add "Love Ain't No Stranger," "Fool For Your Loving," "Sailing Ships" to that.
This song never ceases to give goosebumps! The level of musicianship in the 80s is incredible.
Hardly a couple minutes into the reaction and already adore how much fun you’re enjoying this song with all your little dances and smiles at the video 🖤 The bigger the hair, the cooler the song 😎
Always loved the violin/guitar breakdown
It’s the highlight of their whole discography!
And the worst part? It's a synthesizer, not a guitar
The breakdown is the best though. One of my first jobs was a DJ at a strip joint and four of the girls did a full on fashion runway parade dance to that part of the song regularly to GREAT effect. Synchronized pole moves and all
IIRC the bow/guitar thing was a tongue in cheek thing done by Adrian Vandenberg because Whitesnake was often called a poor man's Zeppelin and Coverdale was accused of Plant worship a lot by critics
@@neilpatrickhairless In live performances they play a guitar with a bow, no synthesizer.
Sir David of Coverdale... One of the finest voices to come out of British music.
Try Fantasy by Aldo Nova. It's one of the best 80s rock hits out there. It runs along the same lines as Loverboy and Journey. I guarantee you won't be able to sit still. Keep up the good work, Aileen!
"Fantasy" The video was in heavy rotation on MTV back in the day. Great song.
Powder pleasure in your nose night.
I was just thinking the same thing!
Aileen , a little background for you about this song and the album its from. In this video no one you see as band members played one note of this song. Singer David Coverdale is the only one. The album's band consisted of guitarist and co - writer of the album John Sykes , bassist Neil Murray , drummer Aynsley Dunbar and keyboardist Don Airey. After the album was finished being recorded Coverdale fired the band. Sykes found out he was fired by getting a letter in the mail. For the videos and tour to support the album Coverdale handpicked the band you see in this video - Vivian Campbell (Dio) - guitar , Adrian Vandenberg (Vandenberg) - guitar , Rudy Sarzo ( Quiet Riot , Ozzy Osbourne) - bass , Tommy Aldridge (Ozzy Osbourne , Black Oak Arkansas) - drums. The part in the video where Adrian Vandenberg is using a violin bow is just for looks , that part was never played with a bow. Coverdale used a cello patch on a keyboard to get that effect. On the album track "Here I Go Again" Adrian Vandenberg played the guitar solo after Sykes refused to fly back to L. A. to re-record the solo. Coverdale didn't like the solo Sykes laid down but Sykes was happy with the solo. He had already returned to England and saw no need to fly back for one solo.
All good Roger, but would simply add that Tommy also was with Pat Travers for a stint that helped him define his aggressive style of attack. The man’s a killer behind the kit. Dunbar was no slouch either. Enjoyed reading your comments.
was gonna write this but you saved me from doing it, lol!
Maybe one tweak, not hand picked by David i dont think, I know John Kalodner was doing some of the match making, im sure DC approved
80's music done right. High quality stuff.
Got that right man!!🤘👊
With their previous hits... "Slide It In", and "Slow N' Easy"... This was Whitesnake being "subtle".
Agreed, the innuendo is strong in their lyrics.
Oh yeah. What about the song from same album called?Spit it out l o l
I remember a interview where david said “look, im not saying im billy shakespeare 😂”
Oooh. Sailing Ships - not a popular Whitesnake track, but I love it, and the last vocal lick is something else...
Yeah, great song .....and that final note ......
Yup. One of their best
I absolutely love this song! The slow break down mid song is awesome👌🏻
By this time in Whitesnake's existence they were a super group with members from some other very great bands. But to me the earlier stuff the album Slide it in is by far their best. Great reaction.
Whitesnake were always a great live show.
Their videos never really showed how great they really were.
Its been a while since I have heard a person talk as fast as you do but I am glad you enjoyed the video and had fun with it.
Awesome as always Aileen.
David Coverdale (lead vocals) of Whitesnake is a legendary vocalist... he got his start as the singer of Deep Purple in 1974 until 1976. He formed the band Whitesnake in the late 70's from his solo career... 'Still of the night' was released in 1987 from the self-titled 'Whitesnake' album, co-written by guitarist John Sykes (who was fired before this video was filmed) and became a huge hit... It was compared to Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Page actually loved the song (David Coverdale and Jimmy Page would record 1 album together in 1993 - 'Coverdale. Page') ... but singer Robert Plant hated it; he derogatorily called the Whitesnake singer 'David Coverversion' in an interview.
The video featured model/ actress Tawny Kitaen, who also did 2 more Whitesnake videos - 'Is this love' ... 'Here I go again'... and soon married David Coverdale... He wrote the Whitesnake song "Kitten's got claws" ...about her... They split up in 1990 and Tawny Kitaen eventually passed away in 2021 at age 59... She appeared in the 1984 music video 'Back for more' by Ratt when she was dating (late) Ratt guitarist Robbin Crosby and was the model on the cover of Ratt's '84 album 'Out of the cellar'.
David Coverdale was an unknown British singer when he was hired by Deep Purple in 1974 to replace their singer Ian Gillan... His subsequent Purple albums 'Burn' and 'Stormbringer' ... were huge hits. However, after guitarist Ritchie Blackmore left Deep Purple in 1975, the band hired guitarist Tommy Bolin for 1 album 'Come taste the band'... but it failed commercially. After a disastrous tour marred by death and drug abuse, Deep Purple split up in 1976.
David Coverdale launched a solo career in 1977 (2 albums - 'Northwinds' and 'Whitesnake') and eventually called his new band Whitesnake (jokingly after his 'thang' 🐍 😂) in 1978 and debuted the album 'Trouble'... Whitesnake would record a number of albums and tour Europe successfully before breaking big in Japan in the 80's... America was proving a tough sell and none of their records were out there.
In 1984, Whitesnake's 6th album 'Slide it in' finally got a US release and the band were ready for the big time in 1986 by re-recording some of their songs for the 'Whitesnake' album... However, Coverdale decided to fire the entire band and hire a new line-up of Whitesnake as the album was being finished... it sold 8x platinum in 1987 w/ MTV promoting the band (which was different from the record)
In 1989, Whitesnake released 'Slip of the tongue'... which was co-written w/ guitarist Adrian Vandenberg, but an injury resulted in virtuoso guitarist Steve Vai playing on the record and joining the band... The album sold platinum w/ hits like - 'Wings of the storm'... "Now you're gone"... 'Judgement day"... But after Coverdale's split from wife Tawny Kitaen, he disbanded Whitesnake in 1991.
In 1993, David Coverdale and Led Zeppelin's guitarist Jimmy Page released a successful album 'Coverdale. Page'... but Jimmy Page opted to reunite w/ Zeppelin singer Robert Plant in 1994 as Plant & Page... Coverdale attempted more solo albums, but none were as successful.
In 2002, David Coverdale reformed Whitesnake and began touring and recording successfully... He was planning a final tour recently, but health issues have forced him off the road and he has yet to announce any plans to return.
That is a beautiful history 😊👍 Thank you 😊👍
Saw them in 2017 or 2018. Still sounded great 👍
Slide It In 🤘
By far their best album.
Slow an' Easy!
And Spit it out!
I heard David perform this song about 7 years ago and his voice is still as powerful today. Just an amazing powerful voice! Great concert!
@Apocalypse2031 well. I'm not trying to lie about anything. It was probably longer ago than what I said my memory is not that great anymore. It may have been 10 years ago!
@Apocalypse2031 it's all good.
@Apocalypse2031 I assume that DC had some good days of vocal performances in the last WS tours, but I need to agree with you his last great consistent performances was in the Good To Be Bad tour, sometime around 2009.
This was my first concert. 1987 Whitesnake opened up for Motley Crue and this was the song that started the whole show. Great first concert. 15 then, 52 now. Song is timeless, still hits like it did back in the day.
i saw that tour in Detroit at Joe Louis Arena .. we had main floor general admission tickets and went down to the arena at noon and camped at the door til it opened at 6pm.. we were first in teh door and got to see the show from the center stage front row .. my hips still have the bruise marks from being pressed up against the security wall.. was a great show and got to see tommy lees drums spinning over my head....
Wow‼️ golden days 1987
Tommy Alderidge is a great drummer
You would be a total blast to go to an all out legendary rock concert!!! Your smile could light up New York City!!!

YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi ,Aileen , Another great Whitesnake song to check out is Slow an Easy ,You will absolutely love that one, Whitesnake's lead singer is David Coverdale, He was singer with Deep Purple in the early 1970s as well 😀😀🤘🤘🎸🎸
Whitesnake was my very first concert as a young teen- it was 1987 and I was 16. It was this album they were touring on. Great stuff- the 80's had some of the greatest Hard Rock bands you'll ever see. Love watching a song/video make you happy- it is certainly infectious. :)
"Slow n Easy" next! 🤘🤘🔥🔥
Fun fantastic reaction. I saw Whitesnake in '87, and Great White opened for them. Great White 'Rock Me' pairs really well with this one, another sexy, bluesy rocker.
I saw them on the same tour. Good times.
Whitesnake are the epitome of 80s hard rock, there album 1987 is an absolute classic of an album, would love to see you react to there live version of Judgement Day from London in 2005, just an absolute masterpiece of a live performance, great reaction Aileen ❤️
Great reaction Aileen, my favourite Whitesnake track is 'IsThis Love', which has a great video too.
“The Deeper the Love” from their album with Steve Vai is one of my favourites and on my practice playlist for bass Aileen. Highly recommend. ~Terry
YES! One of my FAVORITE songs from them!
David Coverdale Vivian Campbell Adrian Vandenberg Tommy Aldridge Rudy Sarzo!!! One hell of a super group!!!!!! Slide it In & Slow & Easy are awesome songs as well. I highly recommend either one for your next reaction of them.
Adrian Vandenberg was the guitarist who played the guitar with the bow. He was formerly for the self named rock group Vandenberg.
it was adrian vandenberg in the video, but on the album it was john sykes, who had left the band before the video was shot.
@@user-yn1sf9mq3z wasn't the album recorded by all different musicians than the video/tour?
@@billwell9266 Yes aside from Coverdale , none of these other guys in the video , were from the 87 album .
One of my favorite Whitesnake jams! Thanks, Aileen.
A few more great ones from this band are "Slow An' Easy" "Slide it In" "Fool for Your Loving" and "Love Ain't No Stranger"
Absolutely one of the BEST songs they have ever played !!!!!!
The greatest change in musical history. I still to this day, I have never heard anything like it. Making that guitar sound like an electric violin. Full-body goosebumps.
Brilliant band back in the day. I love to watch video reactions of songs I grew up with.
Their is just something about 80s rock....such as this tune....just awsome man!!☝️😎
There’s nothing like 80s music. It’s never been bettered. ❤
That 80s rock sound...but...can still jam it loud driving the freeways🤘🏽😎... keep up the great reactions chula🥰
I know a lot of people will ask for Here I Go Again...which is a great song...but I would love to see you react to Slide It In which was from the album before this one. They had some great songs...and this was a Super Group of players at the time. Tommy Aldridge on Drums from Ozzy's first couple albums, Rudy Sarzo on Bass from Quiet Riot, Mark Guiffrea from Guiffrea on Guitar (He used the bow), and Vivian Campbell from Dio's first couple of solo albums and is now with Def Leppard. David Coverdale is the singer who did a stint in Rainbow for a time. The female was Tawny Kitaen an actress who later married Coverdale. She had a few movies...the first that comes to mind was "Bachelor Party" with Tom Hanks. I saw them in Los Angeles supporting this album opening for Motley Crue on their Girls, Girls, Girls tour. Great memories
Edit: Ack...not Guiffrea...the other guitarist was Mark Vendenberg who had a band called Vandenberg before this...and Coverdale was from Deep Purple not Rainbow.
Saw this tour twice - first as opener for Motley Crue then as headliner with Great White opening

Its really hard not to like all the different feels and vibes this song brings. How about the middle interlude, so hypnotic and tense.
Great band, great choice to listen to. This entire album is a masterpiece. Can't go wrong with a track on there.
Another suggestion for you is by White Snake is "here I go again" and "is this love" and you will like both of them I guarantee
David Coverdale, was also a Deep Purple vocalist
Yes he was. Not a patch on Ian Gillan though and Glenn Hughes just blew him outta the water!!!!
You're right !@@MLawrence2008
Huge hit on MTV, I saw them do this and they killed it. Also saw John Sykes, who was in Whitesnake, do this with Blue Murder, a hard rocking 3 piece with Sykes on guitar and vocals along with the great Carmine Appice on drums and Tony Franklin of the Firm on killer bass. The Blue Murder album is worth hearing, very underrated collaboration and you would love them, try the video for Valley of the Kings, you will want to play it again as loud as you can and enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Whitesnake has been my favorite band since the late 80's! They have a large catalog of music. Here are the must hear songs, though:
Here I Go Again
Is This Love
Slow an Easy
Slide It In
Fool For Your Lovin'
Give Me All Your Love Tonight
Deeper The Love
Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City (older song. More bluesey)
Loved your reaction and I hope to see more reactions to some of these songs!!
CHEERS!
Being a teen 80s was such a great experience. The music, cloths, and hair were so fun! Id go back and do it again in a heartbeat.
The guitarist in the band was John Sykes. He was not in the video, as he was fired after the recording. John Sykes formed a band called Blue Murder with Tony Franklin of The Firm and Carmine Appice of Vanilla Fudge. Valley of the Kings blew a lot of people away., but the label didn't support them since they were on the same label as Whitesnake who were far more established, and already making the label money.
Aaah, that riff is SO GOOD. Such a good song.
2:16 in, and I was right on target! But I did forget the also very kool, signature “ Aileen” hand gestures. Again, like only she can do!! Ok gonna just sit back and enjoy now! Love your reactions. Makes my day!
"SLOW AND EASY" is another great one.
That damn solo and guitar by John Sykes, unbelievable🤩👏
Love your reactions, big smile, chair dancing, surprise at the lyrics, and just having so much fun. Thanks Aileen 😊
White Snake at there absolute peak, the right look, all the hair, and of course there quality sound. Seen them several times through the 80's early 90's. such a good looking band for there time and i am a guy. Brilliant times, would so love to travel back there. Brings the tears that's for sure.
One of the best solos ever hell yea
Love watching your reactions to songs I grew up listening to (ok, for some I was already in adulthood) and you having a great time, dancing in your chair.
There are plenty of great bands, great individual songs. One I don't think you've done yet is Bob Seger, a great singer and storyteller. Songs like Night Moves, Like a Rock, etc, really hit the feels of growing up. Songs like Katmandu and Sunspot Baby are just dance in your chair gold.
That middle section still makes me stop in my tracks ❤
That fade out always makes me sad. It's the sound of the 80s fading away into history.
So glad you liked it! 😍🌙🎸🤘
Absolutely insane! The 80's were the best!
Aileen I've seen a couple of your videos and I like them. You're adorable and I love your soothing voice! Whitesnake had two or three GREATS in the 80's. I'm lucky to have been a late teen adult during this period of time!! SO LUCKY!! Keep up the great reactions, I just sub'ed.
You should check out their song Slow and Easy. The 80's when every long haired teenager worked their asses off so you could afford to go to all the concerts seemed like there was a major band coming through every week. Big hair big sound = big fun at the concerts.. last fun decade of music the 80's and talent everywhere. Sure some of the outfits were a bit outrageous but there were so many good and great bands you had to come up with something that made you stand out from the rest .
That was really fun, Aileen! could tell you really felt that song on a visceral level!!! 🔥🔥🔥
I always imagined how I would be if I grew up during this era of hair metal rock another amazing reaction
You would be old now, and know how to ROCK. :) The old part isn't great. ;)
It would be so much fun to go to a rock concert with you. Your energy is always amazing.
There was an era where the music and the videos really worked together to tell a story.
Yes, that would actually be John Sykes making that guitar cry. He played on the studio track but "left the band" before this was released.
I just found your channel. I love your reactions and your critiquing of the music. Your voice and your words are awesome! Not to mention your beautiful!❤
If you want more sexy Whitesnake, then there's the album before this one called Slide It In. There's the title track and also "Slow 'n Easy" and "Spit It Out". 🤭
Love Ain't No Stranger
This is still one of my favorite rock songs of 80’s. The breakdown and rebuild were unique for the period. Then they give you an outro which also wasn’t common. Coverdale was a veteran singer as he started in the late 1960’s. I believe this was 1986 when it came out.
You need to hear "Slow & Easy" by Whitesnake. It's one of their best!
Hi Aileen Whitesnake is a awesome band. I have 2 of there Vinyl Albums. And they are called -Slide It In, and Saints And Sinners. I'm 56, and i grew up with the 60's 70's and 80's Heavy Metal Bands, and some 90's Too. Keep up the great work. From Dave in Australia 🦘

The only person who was in the video who was actually on the track was David Coverdale. On guitars was John Sykes, on bass Neil Murray, on drums Aynsley Dunbar and on keyboards Don Airy.In the video there is Adrian Vandenburg( the blonde guitarist) and on guitar as well was Vivian Campbell, on bass was Rudy Sarzo, on drums was Tommy Aldrich
Seen this tour and they rocked ! What you see here in guitars are Rudy Sarzo on bass, Adrian Vandenberg and my favorite guitarist - Steve Vai! Best of the best in my opinion.
I saw them for the Slip of the Tongue album tour. Steve Vai played guitar on that tour. Amazing live!!
Love it Love it Love it 🤘😎 loved growing up late 70s /80s
Check out, In The Still Of The Night from the Live In London 2002 show, with Doug Aldrich on guitar. His performance is note for note with the great John Sykes, who wrote the music, and created the studio recording. Both remarkable players. In fact I would also recommend Doug’s 6 1/2 minute solo split into two songs in the middle of the Concert. The first called Blues For Mylene leads immediately into Snake Dance. The entire show is Hard Rock bliss.
Still touring today, awesome in concert live seen them yeah 🎤🥁🎸🤘😆👍
The lead guitarist in the video(who actually did not play on the song) is called Adrian Vanderberg. His band before joining Whitesnake was called Vanderberg. They have a great balled called Burning Heart
