This song is truly epic, for the fact, David's voice, goes from, Low blues sounds to the highest of high's of the 80s. This is my all time favorite song from, whitesnake 🤘🤘
The bow on the guitar is for style points only. That's a cello tune that's actually being played by a synthesizer. At least that's how it was in concert when I saw them on this tour back in '87. Great band, legendary track though! So awesome to see black people love this kind of music! I think this music could bring us back together.

A beast of a song and a hard one to cover, but you did it! Beautiful! This is the best cover I've heard. Thank you WonderMommaOG, you have a great voice!

John Sykes was 🔥FIRE w that bow !! Rudy Sarzo and the whole band was Phenomenal !! Most people need a cold shower after this one !!😂😂😂 Loved them in the 80’s and still do at 62!!
John Sykes, John Sykes, John Sykes and John Sykes! Every guitar you hear and the entire new arrangement was all his work. Too bad Coverdale's ego ran him off before the tour.
In the video for "Still of the Night", part of the instrumental string interlude is visualized using a bow on an electric guitar but the strings were recorded by Don Airey using either a synthesizer or a sampler. Also, it's funny that the only person in the video that is actually on that recording is Coverdale.
They've been my favorite band for years, David Coverdales voice is phenomenal..They were the first Hard Rock band I had ever seen back in 1987 in Detroit along with Great White..They were once called the United Nations.. David Coverdale from England, Drummer Tommy Aldridge from America, Bassist Rudy Sarzo from Cuba, Guitarist "The Flying Durchman" Adrian Vandenberg from the Hague, Netherlands and Guitarist Vivian Campbell from Ireland..The 1987 album Whitesnake still kicks ass after all if these years..🎸🎶🎵💤🎤🤘😁
That song came from their own named album in 1987. From 1978 till 1984/1985 they were a blues band but changed the style to be more close to the era that was coming
None of the guys in this video except Coverdale were on the recording of this song. They did tour with Coverdale to support this album. The first to leave after the tour was Vivian Campbell, who Coverdale didn't get along with. Campbell joined Def Leppard a few years later.
Unfortunately Whitesnake did not actually use a violin bow on guitar for that effect, that was just for show for the video. They did use a cello or viola in studio when recording that part, saw a rockumentary years ago
Glad to be finding so many reviews of some of my top 10 favorite songs. I loved their Slide It In album. I remember waiting to see this video/song on the MTV World Premiere Video segment. There are two songs I always relate to football (american football or "futbol americano" as we say here in México), "touch and go" by Emerson, Lake & Palmer (wich I would love to see in your montage videos wondermomma) and "still of the night" by Whitesnake. In the 80's when tv channels cut for commercial or return from them, those were they songs of choice, "touch and go" was used in mid 80´s, when I was at elementary school and "still of the nigh" at late 80´s,when I was at junior high and then high school, and listen to them as a young kid was awesome, I wanted to crank up the volume of my little 14" remote control "cancún" philips color tv. thanks wondermomma, your my time machine, you always get me back in time, the best of times! greetings from Monterrey, México.

Thank you, Michael! I enjoy having you stop by the streams! Thanks for all the support and kind words.
The lady in this video is the late, great Tawny Kitain! She is in 2 other Whitesnake videos, Is this Love, and Here I Go Again!
MommaOG is back! We’ve missed ya! Something I found out about this video that most of the band in the background are out of focus because the band was fluctuating back and forth. David Coverdale is an eeffing legend! This song hits hard!
If you love this music you need to check out Blue Murder. John Sykes left Whitesnake after this album and formed Blue Murder. Their 1st album is a masterpiece
the singer, David Coverdale and the model Tawny Kitaen were married at this time. unfortunately Kitaen died just a few years later. the bands name Whitesnake 'supposedly' came from Davids own trouser snake which is/was reeportedly pretty big........dont know about Sykes but i do know Adrian Vandenberg is one hell of a guitarist
That woman was Tawny Kitean, not sure I spelled that correctly, she was an actress and David Coverdale’s gf. She was in a movie called Bachelor Party with Tom Hanks
Kitaen
@@mikethemotormouth thank you for the correction
@ElPato7272 happy to help ☺️
David Coverdale played with Deep Purple and Northwinds,. He formed the band White Snake in 1978.....
Grew-up in the 70s, but the 80s music was equally banging. Just when you thought "excess" was the definition of the 70s, the 80s came rolling along.
