Richie Sambora's backing/secondary vocals are so vital to so many of Bon Jovi's songs. He's great on his own as well, but how their voices complement each other is the kind of thing that gives you goosebumps. And while I know that there are more technically difficult guitar solos, the crunchy, pure rock sound of Richie's solo does something to my blood, always has and always will.
There's something about this guitar solo. I can't explain it, its just fire - gives you a rare feeling. There's a couple of others that do that for me too - Alice in Chains Jerry Cantrell's solo in "Man in a Box" comes to mind, Matthias Jabs in Scorpions "No One Like You" is another. Maybe not super technical, but perfect choice of melody and impact.
I was going to highlight the exact same things.
To me it's Samboras best solo. So powerful. It's the pitch harmonics and the way it just ends in those power chords. Just awesome.
And Samboras vocals make the song.
"I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all" Always give me goosebumps. Great reaction Aileen!! \m/\m/
Me too!! First time I heard this live When he sang that line I cried 😂
One of the greatest lines in music.
Hearing that line back in '87, at a sold out stadium show, just took my breath away.
@@jrobertlysaght Same brotha, same! \m/\m/
True that!
Blaze of glory by him is from the cowboy movie Young Guns.Even more of a western feel.My favourite Bon Jovi song.
Young guns 2 , sorry to be that guy.
He scored that entire movie if I remember correctly. And his score was one of the best parts of the movie.
I have the album. It's one of my favorites.
Guns. The third installment is still in pre production..
@@timfetherling9750 No.
Richie Sambora....a fucking guitar beast
Such an underrated singer as well
@@DominickValenti Fact!!
Richie's version of this is so much better. No offense to Jon or the band but I always felt like this was Richie's song.
I am 71, and just discovered your channel. The fact that you totally understood the underlying emotions of this song mean that you are, indeed, worthy!
She is great! Welcome to the Family, Chuck!
@@greg2976 Thanks!
@@chuckvt5196 👍. I'm 64, and I discovered her , maybe 6 months ago. Love her analyses of the music! You have a lot of catching up to do my friend!
Wow.. I'm 57 and my Hubby is 68. he heard the song.. but not his era.. you're 71 and love it.. great
brother ... old here as well ... nice to see youngsters understand real music....
2:39 " I just wanna ride a horse & fight someone" - 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When she said that it made me miss my childhood. 😂
I think we've all had that feeling at some point in our lives. 😅
I'll b your Huckleberry
Yeah “Living on a Prayer”, “It’s My Life”, “Always”, “Blaze of Glory”, “You give love a Bad Name”, “Bad Medicine”, “Runaway”, “Bed of Roses”, “Make a Memory”. Lots of songs to add to your playlist. Jon Bon Jovi is the pinnacle of Rock bands of the 80’s and some of their music even influenced the Country scene and helped transform Country into what it is today.
She don't know me, in and out of love. 2 of their best. Album 1 and 2.
From New Jersey
Yes. I was going to say Bad Medicine, Bed of Roses, Blaze of Glory, You Give love a Bad Name, myself.
Why nobody ever react to Bon Jovi living in sin studio version from Bon Jovi New Jersey
Yes all of these
The absolute best version of this song is the "acoustic live from MTV", where Jon and Riche took turns doing the lead vocals and also did "Living on a prayer". The harmonies and Richie's lead vocals are awesome!😊
Richie never gets the credit he truly deserves for Bon Jovi's success.
@@richardkafka5625 Hopefully he at least get the royalties from the 7800 degrees-album and forward.
I thought they were a joke until I saw that performance.
Turned my view on them around 180 degrees.
@@richardkafka5625 Jon, Richie, & their frequent collaborator Desmond Child are all Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees.
YES. Haven't seen that in awhile, gonna go watch it now lol
There's such a love between the artist and the fans not seen today. Its what made the times with music so great. The videos at times capture how horrible it is for them to actually be out there but their love for the music and the people drove them, not greed.
The thing to understand about Bon Jovi is they ruled the music world for around 3 years in the '80s. They were HUGE. So many great songs.
Many underestimate their popularity during the 90s. Their first greatest hits album, Cross Road, is one of the best-selling albums of all time. Boosted by the power ballad "Always". Along w/ "Livin' on a Prayer" & "It's My Life", that's three music videos from three different decades w/ a billion views each.
@@jp3813 I lived through all of it. My mother (RIP) was a huge Jon Bon Jovi fan. She bought Metal Edge magazine. She had all of the VHS band-made tapes. It was a whole thing. I was happy to let Hair Metal die when Grunge came around in my teen years, but man o' man, Bon Jovi is the soundtrack of my youth...
@@voidwraithprime8521 To be fair, this band also left hair metal behind after the 80s. Starting w/ Jon & Richie's first solo albums.
That sign that said, "We'd die 4 U" was a reference to their song, I'd Die For You from this same album. 😉
Bon Jovi was great back in the day. Always a great concert.
First ever concert i went to was Wembley arena, London in 1988 on BonJovi's New Jersey tour. When Richie Sambora started the song sitting on a stool just one spotlight on him in a totally dark arena, playing the first few bars, was an unforgettable moment. One of my favourite songs by the guys. Great memories.🤘
Saw them in Zurich in 1996. Great show
A true classic
Absolutely LOVE Bon Jovi!! This song is the band's anthem, all about being on the road. And yes, they've seen a million faces, and definitely rocked them all!!! (I just love that line) You Give Love a Bad Name, I'll Be There For You, Lay Your Hands On Me, Bed Of Roses, Dry County (Live from Wembley, 1995), Always (Live from Wembley, 1995), Keep The Faith (Live from Giants Stadium, 2001). They have so many amazing hits!!! You really can't miss!
Yep every song from Slippery and Jersey are phenomenal. 7800 degrees is great too
@@neilp8964 Dry County (Live from Wembly 1995) with possibly, in my opinion, the best Rock guitar solo ever from Richie Sambora
I don't see how such a worldwide popular song for 38 years isn't at least accidently heard at least in your life.
Blaze of Glory is another great song 🎵, written for the movie Young Guns
Young Guns 2 was a great sequel... that 80s feeling 😎
I never drew first but I drew first blood
Oh hell yes... blaze of glory is absolutly in the top 3 for bon jovi
Slippery when wet by bon jovi and the final countdown by europe were the most popular albums in 86
This song is about how they fell being in tour...
The main vocalist is Jon Bon Jovi, the guitar player and back vocalist is Richie Sambora (the man, the legend, the myth)...
Old stuff of them are all amazing...
You really sould check-out the songs Bed of Roses, Always, This Ain't A Love Song, Dry County (live in Wembley), Bad Medicine, Lie to Me, Keep The Faith, You Give Love a Bad Name, InThese Arms, Lay Your Hands On Me, These Days, just to start...
You should react to Richie Sambora's solo álbuns, you won't regret it...
No one toured harder than Bonjovi back in the 80s. Now for the high energy BonJovi check out the official video for "Lay your Hands on Me"
This song is about them being on tour on their steel horse which is the TOUR BUS.
Yeah , but the " loaded six strings on my back" is a corny ass line lol ... I do love the song . But that lyric gets me every time lol
Also the title track for Young Guns 2, so double meaning there
@@harrylangley3866Blaze of Glory is the song from YG2..That was John Bon Jovi not the band Bon Jovi..
@@harrylangley3866 No, you're thinking of Blaze of Glory. And "title track" means a song with the same name as the album or movie.
Doubt they were wanted dead or alive, tho
Child of the mid80s-90s here. Hair band lover. Friends and I couldn’t get enough of these guys and many others. So fun!
Bon Jovi went from an opening act to the biggest rock band in the world very quickly. And they stayed they for a few years, playing tons of concerts across the globe.
disagree it was few decades 80-90-00
What you see on stage is Jon Bon Jovi being an artist, giving his everything for the fans that came to see him.
Not a huge Bon Jovi fan, but always loved this song. Definitely the only one of their songs I learned on guitar, because that acoustic part just flows so nicely. It's just fun as hell to play. Also the solo in this song is on point.
The thing I love about Bon Jovi is that many songs by them are about the darker side of rockstar life. They show how hard it is to be away from fam in "Bed of Roses" and "Always", they show the difficulties of life in "Living on a Prayer", "Keep the Faith", and "Runaway", and just how life on the road is hard in this song. Plus, they also give back to their community in "Who Says You Can't Go Home". Yeah, they have other songs like "Bad Medicine", "You Give Love a Bad Name", and "Lay Your Hands on Me", but they just don't resonate with me as much as the more touching songs. The Bon Jovi catalogue is HUGE, and has some great pieces for all lovers of music
I love Richie Sambora on backing vocals and harmonizing with Jon Bon Jovi not to mention for his guitar playing !!
By far the best Bon Jovi song IMO. Jon's vocals and Richies playing made this song one of the all time hair metal greats
I think nearly everybody on the planet has heard "Livin' on a Prayer." But on the slim chance that you may be one of the 2 or 3 people on Earth who haven't, that would be a great next listen.
Another good one is "It's My Life."
Love your reactions.
And "You Give Love a Bad Name".
Those were the exact two I was thinking of. I especially like how the lyrics in "It's My Life" refer back to characters introduced in "Livin' on a Prayer."
Nah, North Korea, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Sudan , Iraq , etc , never heard of Bon Jovi 🤪
She does songs she's heard all the time. She just doesn't admit it.
"It's My Life" is my favorite!!!!!!
My favorite band back in the day. Bon Jovi has so many great songs. Thank you for this and looking forward to you reviewing more of their songs soon!!
Congrats on discovering insane duo Richie Sambora and Bon Jovi
Bon Jovi is amazing. Check out his vocals on, Bed of roses. Phenomenal. 👍
I was at Pearl Harbor when “Living on a Prayer” was released. Radio stations played that song so many times a day that every time I hear it today my mind goes back there. Such GREAT times!!
Bon Jovi was my first concert a very long time ago. Slippery When Wet tour. Skid Row was the opening act. Amazing times back then…
The Whitesnake tour around the time, this song was written, started in June 1987 and ended in August 1988. With only two breaks due to total exhaustion of the singer after a stomach virus and a back surgery some monthes later. Nearly every day in another hotel, the only days at home when you tour close to your hometown. I have tour itineraries from that time in my collection where you can read details like 500 miles in the tour bus after show, check in to the hotel at 10 am, check out 6 hours later (and hand written by the bass player 2 hours promotion in a music shop during these 6 hours), soundcheck, show and another 500 miles in the bus...
One of the best of many songs out there about what it was like to be a rock star: glamorous from the outside, but exhausting in reality. Great reaction!
One of the best tour rock ballads ever. I love how your brain works and how you analyze it. You pick up exactly what I'm hearing. Nice channel.
Great reaction as always! Please please check more of them. If you like that western feel, Blaze of Glory is another amazing song. But you can’t go wrong with anything by them.
Richies voice is so underrated.
Red dead redemption you can definitely ride a horse and fight someone 😂 but man that guitar rift and Bon Jovi voice is just amazing
Thanks for your reaction to the famous talented musical artists of the world. They deserve all the praise we give them.
Never say goodbye, ill be there for you are my favorite Bon Jovi songs
The song is an analogy between a old western cowboy and a rockstar. On a steel horse I ride (airplane/Bus), 6 string on my back etc
i had 3 older sisters, and bon jovi was my middle sister's favorite band so i grew up hearing tons and tons of bon jovi. wanted dead or alive is one of my favorite bon jovi songs. my dad always called bon jovi "baby making music", but there are a few classics that are must listens:
runaway
never say goodbye
you give love a bad name
livin' on a prayer
lay your hands on me
i'll be there for you
born to be my baby
always
and some of my favorite lesser known songs:
let it rock
stick to your guns
wild is the wind
blood on blood
i'd die for you
Great reaction, I feel the rockstar life seeing different faces in the crowd, travel, the high life is a double edged sword, full of highs and lows "I'm a cowboy" refers to feeling out there alone
gota give props to Richie Sambora, his guitar playing and back up vocals are outstanding.
Saw Bon Jovi in 1989 and again in 1994. Great concerts!
On of the most iconic songs ever written. CLASSIC!
I was at one of the concerts where this video was shot. Good performance by Bon Jovi but Cinderella absolutely stole the show! Thanks for the good reaction videos. I love your content.
My introduction to Bonjovi was buying the "Crossroads" album in college, maybe 20+ years ago, was hooked from then
Took me right back to Highschool. Jon said the band preferred their Live footage MV's, I saw them Live 3 times and I can understand why. Gotta give it up for Ritchie Samborra's vocals (and of course Lead Guitar) in this song too. Met Jon, briefly once and almost passed out lol. Enjoyed this a lot.
if i remember correctly from "Behind the Music", this was the last video made from the album after this was shot, it ended their tour and they took a long long break because they were absolutely beyond spent and were starting to have issues in the band due to the touring schedule and how it affected their personal lives.
Seriously one of the artists i listened to when I was ten, bon jovi, Phil Collins, Aerosmith, Bruce Springsteen , def leppard, just some of a kids playlist, aka cassette tapes.
Aileen, you are one of my favorite reactors. You have an uncanny ability to “get” every song you react to. There are lots of reactors that are clueless, and it’s frustrating to watch somebody listen to a song, but not “hear” it…
I first heard this song in an episode of Miami Vice (S03E07 El Viejo) where Willie Nelson played an old retired Texas Ranger. This song was perfect for that episode. Willie was an old cowboy, just like the song.
I left school and started an apprenticeship in 1986. The first year involved living in digs away from home during the week. I had a little cassette boom box on my bedside table in my room of that house, and Slippery When Wet and the first three Marillion albums were about the only tapes I owned back then. I listened to this song and album *A LOT* during that year!
This song was so popular because it diverged from their normal rock sound and because of Richie Sambora’s prominent acoustic guitar and backup vocal.
“Little Runaway” was their first hit which (rightfully) burst them on the scene. “You Give Love a Bad Name” was the anthemic song that had us all chanting along in school.
Ritchie Sambora needs alot of credit for his guitar playing and backup vocals.
I have watched a lot of reaction videos, but your insights and thoughts are amazing! Thank you. 😎
I love that you instantly caught onto the cowboy aspect of this song.
I love Bon Jovi, it was one my first cassettes I bought at 13 years old. Slippery when wet doesn't have a bad song on it they are all great, you could the first one to do "Let It Rock!!!!!!!!!
Seen them live multiple times from Dallas, Houston, West Coast, East Coast love their cross over Rock it's all still some of the best Rock for sure thanks for the reaction Aileen -suggested next, living on a prayer -cheers,
I loved your commentary of this song. You can so relate to the Rockstar as they’re on the stage. And I was feeling it there at the end. Very emotional, more than I expected.
Don’t underestimate the absolute greatness of Ritchie Sambora’s co-lead vocals on this track… he’s outstanding here..
..great reaction gorgeous…
IMO, this is Bon Jovi's greatest song.
One of the songs that made me pick up guitar. I was 14 and cowboys were damn cool. It is actually a really fun song to play on guitar. I still think Richie Sambora is a way underrated guitarist. Not among professionals, but yes, too few people see it, he is awesome.
8:12 I've always liked
Bon Jovi's softer side with LeAnn Rimes in the duet "Until We're Not Strangers Anymore" or his singles "Thank You" and "You want to make a Memory ". 😊😊😊
My first big concert was this tour and this was the #1 song at the time. For the first encore it was Ritchie Sambora playing some tasty blues stuff on his double-necked Kramer, settling into D, then launching into Wanted. Amazing show. Cinderella opened. The second encore had Bob Rock come out and they jammed more songs. The show was in Vancouver, and Bob Rock produced the album there.
Saw this live in 1987, the live version started with a golden Richie solo.
Your insight was amazing ❤
Your interpretation was about as close to what the song is about and the video was so perfect great job new sub
First time I heard Bon Jovi was the summer of 1984 between my junior and senior year of high school. A friend of mine had "Runaway" playing in his car and I said who's that and he said Bon Jovi. Been a fan ever since.
Hey just recently discovered you and your my favorite and love when ever I see your facial expression it makes me smile every time keep it up girl ❤
I've seen a million faces and I rocked them all! I love that part!
This songs about touring.
The steel horse is a motorbike.
The six string on the back is the guitar.
The hand painted square of fabric you saw actually said I would die for you Jon.
That is one of their songs and Jon is the lead singer Jon bon jovi.he writes the lyrics.
Richie sambora the backing singer, guitarist is the music writer.
Reactors usually start with living on a prayer as that broke them worldwide.
And is more representative of their sound.
This is one of my faves esp the build up and drop in the middle.
Baby girl.... you gotta listen to never say goodbye. Of course ANY song you listen to by Bon Jovi is gonna be a hit. They have been rockin for 4 decades strong 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
"Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man". I always remember this movie when I hear this song)))
That movie intro was the best!
Jon Bon Jovi is a great singer and songwriter. The best demonstration of this is the album Blaze of Glory (unofficial soundtrack for Young Guns 2). If he has a cowboy alter ego, that album channels it.
I can't help picturing the opening credits of the Discovery show Deadliest Catch whenever I hear this song.
Wow!
You get it .
A steel horse is the travelling touring bus!
Well done.
You are awesome!
certainly one of their best songs...my favorite of theirs
So much you could say about Bon Jovi, but I'm sure you'll get plenty of that from others. Just a couple things I would like to say. Another song, that for whatever reason, Jon Bon Jovi did solo for the soundtrack of the western movie "Young Guns 2", called "Blaze Of Glory", which has a very similar vibe. Great song that was a huge hit in like 1990, or whenever that was. I had the single on audio cassette, and listen to the hell out of it! It and this song are two of my very favorites of theirs.
The other thing is that I don't think you've done any Bob Seger yet, but one of my very favorites of his is "Turn The Page", which is another song that's reflective of being on the road, and that whole thing, and it's been covered by Metallica, which maybe you've heard.
"Lay Your Hands On Me" is a Great Track....!
Intro is a killer, especially on a quality system!
@@maldad9073 For sure...!
thank you so much for this very heartfelt and empathetic reaction to this classic!! i so enjoy all of your reactions..thank you for your kind hearted approach to people! Take good care Ms Senpai and..keep em coming young lady!!
Bon Jovi was the first concert i went to when i was 13 with Cinderella opening, amazing band live!, steel horse i ride is the tour bus, about being on the road...
Never been a big bon Jovi fan but there are certainly a couple of songs of theirs that are undeniably great tunes.
Their best song by a big margin, imo. Rock classic. Chemistry between Bon Jovi and Sambora is unmatched.
Jon Bon Jovi wrote the song "BLAZE OF GLORY" for the movie "YOUNG GUNS". An absolutely fabulous movie.
There is a live version of this song that will blow your mind out the door. It is live in moscow 1989. The intro is a 2:45 solo that is beyond amazing
This was the number 1 video on MTV for many months when it came out.
Jon BonJovi wrote this song & Blaze of Glory for the movie Young Guns 2 with Emilio Estevez, Kiefer Sutherland, Lou Diamond Phillips, Charlie Sheen. A story about Billy the Kid. Jon does his first acting cameo in the movie as well. One of my favorite movies & must see!
Jon bon jovi anf Richie sambora.....
Not this song, it is not on the soundtrack for the movie
Another great bon Jovi song is blaze of glory
Yes, also western themed. 🙂👍
Living on a prayer is one of their best songs
Really enjoy your reactions & analysis/insight! Glad you're back and keep up the great work!
Aileen this is one of the best "Power Ballads of all time this is my favorite song on the entire "Slippery when Wet" album 👍❤
Bon Jovi is Love and Life
Have this on my playlist. When I on my motorcycle and I must say. I go too fast listening to this. Keep up the great work. Much love from Lawton Fort Sill Oklahoma
Great reaction ! always love your perspective, especially for a song that I love this much !
much love to you and rock on !
One of my all time favorite songs.... forever..🤘
Hi Aileen! This theme of dealing with the grind of a long tour has resulted in a lot of great songs, as the feelings are so raw and genuine to the band members themselves. A few others you might want to check out are:
Faithfully, by Journey
Wither, by Dream Theater
Sweet Home Alabama, by Lynyrd Skynyrd
And the one I most want you to hear and react to: Hell You Call a Dream, by The Warning.
I would also suggest you check out the song he did with country star Jennifer Nettles, "Who says you can't go home?". Uplifting with good harmonies. It will put that beautiful smile on your face!
