  • Delia Smiths rice cooking method has never let me down.
    Simmer for fifteen minutes on a very low heat then take off the heat and let stand for another five minutes. Don't open the lid as that will let the steam out. Always perfectly cooked fluffy rice.
    Best rice to use is 'Easy Cook' as it's pre washed. This method works well on any sort of camp stove that the heat can be controlled or with a bit of ingenuity on a bushcraft camp fire.
    100 ml of rice which is about 1/2 cup
    200 ml water or 1cup
    1 teaspoon salt
    Bring to boil then simmer 15 mins without removing lid
    (Use the lowest flame so as to achieve the lowest simmer possible)
    let stand for 5mins.
    The residual heat will cook the rice.

    Did you make the curry yourself? Do you use re-usable Mylar bags?
    Maybe you could devise a simmering plate for your stoves, similar to Trangia.

      The curry was shop bought from Muji of all places. I prefer to use separate stoves. The smaller one burns ten milliliters of alcohol in ten minutes which makes timing simmer more precise. I could achieve the same result using a simmer ring and keeping a close eye on the time but this is my preferred method.
