"Fear Inoculum" from Tool's "Fear Inoculum" album (2019).
I wasn't actually going to cover anything from Fear Inoculum, but it seems like Tool unbanned every Tool video on UA-cam. So yeah, here we are. Anyway, this will be in the comment section as well, but I've left the intro swells out. Most people will skip the swells anyway. So why did I? My volume knob makes this really annoying cracking sound when I do a swell, so the intro is just not going to happen with this bass. I had to record the swells at 3:07 so many times because of the cracking sound. But the intro is basically what I play at 3:10.
Delay settings : 335Ms, 1.5 Recirc.
Some important information that nobody is going to read.
Tuning : D-A-D-G
Artist : Tool
Bassist : Justin Chancellor
Album : Fear Inoculum (2019)
Song : FEAR INOCULUM
Bass : Warwick GPS Corvette 5A Ash
I’ve watched every tool cover you’ve made and now can play at least 15 tool songs. Best covers out there.
Thank you so much!
my head is spinning: 3/8, 5/8, 4/8, 11/8, 4/4, 3/4, 11/16
3/8 4/8 and 11/8 arent time signatures
@@VN-hg5yy
... yes they are...
3/8 means 3 eighth notes per bar
11/8 means 11 eighth notes per bar
They definitely are lol
@@VN-hg5yy um lol yes they are.
Thats tpol my friend
When I was first getting into TOOL and watching live videos of them, I always wondered why Adam and Justin were so stationary. It's obvious now from watching your videos the sheer amount of concentration they have to put into what they're playing everytime they play! Damn I love the complexity of their music. Great job my friend !!
Exactly :)
Well, Justin moves quite a lot, but Adam really is the definition of stationary I guess. I think it fits Tool though. Very serious musicians.
Thank you!
Yeah, I also think it's because they want to draw more attention to the music - that's part of TOOL's philosophy - when you focus on the teller of the tale, rather than the tale itself, you lose some meaning. Same principle here I think. Still hanging out for when TOOL comes to Australia next. Spiral out!
man, so quickly. I wish I would have your ears.
Ulrich Robert Musil it’s called practice, everyone has the ability not many have the drive
4:38 this is where it gets funky 🕺🏿
Yes, I skipped the intro with the volume swells. Why? My volume knob makes this really annoying cracking sound when I do a swell, so the intro is just not going to happen with this bass. The intro is the exact same as what I play at 3:10.
EDIT : MediaFire has banned me from uploading the tab for this song. That's why there are no links to the tabs I guess..
I want to ask one question - do you edit the track in any way while deciphering it? There are sections here that would be a huge pain to tab out without altering the mix
Great playing Leo. I just discovered your channel. You are really great at remembering all those songs. I wish I could play that good. But I can't remember hard songs. I can't wait for the new tool album. I love them. It's been a helluva long wait for a new album.😂
But, it's just Adam doing it
The potentiometer's track is dusty. To solve the problem, you have to put isopropylic alcohol inside the hole in the back of the potentiometer, roll the knob some times and it'll get clean. Easy job.
Adam does the lower part, Justin counters with the higher swells.
again showing why you are the man! so talented your gifts to the community are greatly appreciated
The effect a chorus pedal can have on a song is astonishing. One of the reasons I love Right in Two besides the harmonics. I love this song, thank you for covering it!
I know right. Even if it's only on a bit it's such a difference.
Is it not a delay pedal and a chorus?
I don't have a chorus so I just throw in a extra 0 between the 2s and 5s lol it sounds aight 😂
You are grossly underrated as always.
Thanks as always man!
the sound of your bass ... awesome
You're quick. Is this the first cover of this song on UA-cam? That'd be pretty dope.
I think it's like the 8th cover or something, but it's definitely the first tabbed bass cover.
14 YEARS WE HAVE WAITED
Great job as always! Awesome to finally see new Tool content on this channel. Really like Fear Inoculum so far, hoping the rest of the songs are as good.

Amazing cover dude! Ive been watching since your first tool covers and Ive loved it! Keep up the good work
Thank you very much! :)
LeoBassCovers2 no problem. I remember using your Reflection cover to learn the song myself.
This is awesome!! Thank you!!🤘🏻
Yeeee, man) Amazing sound, awesome cover!)
Rather than banning you, Tool should be thanking you😁
Second that, I have loved every tool cover you have done. Being able to appreciate tools music in loads of different ways. 👍
What happened?
@@Ash-se6gh Tool sued him once for a video and got some mad money from him
@@TheMDj98 really??? Can't belive it
@@heavyribassmaiden4924 yep, I was surprised too
Nailed it! Thanks brotha, great tutorial.
That chorus though 😊
Pure awsomeness as usual
Great work man.
Nice job. This album is going to be killer!
I guess the most difficult thing to achieve with these hypnotic repeating riff is consistency with the picking hand and staying in time with the odd time signatures...
Great job man!
Kim Faucher
I’ve always said, unlike most bands, the difficulty of Tool’s work is mostly in the Right hand, not the Left.
That was really Awesome!
Awesome job!!! U have been just great at every bassline you play. PROPS man
Thank you so much!
Great work mate!
perfect job. Best covers i ever seen.
Thank you so much!
Leo, you are GREAT!
Leo you are my new god! Thank you very much!!
Thank you for working out what the heck the time signatures are in the second half of the song. I haven't been able to work it out for the life of me.
You're a life saver!
No problem!
oh man, leo, thank you soo much, you did a fantastic job
No problem man, thank you!
Woah, you are already release au cover? Nice job guy!
Seeing and hearing this just made FI a legacy Tool song. It’s as great a baseline as Forty Six and 2. Thanks for bringing it to the forefront.
Damn that Warwick sound beastly! Well done sir!
That was just sick! WoW! Good job :D
Thanks!
Well done!
Your covers are awesome! Thank you! I've come across live vids of Justin playing the opening riff exclusively on the 2nd and 3rd strings (rather than jumping down to the 4th for the higher notes) but man...you always seem to nail everything.
Oh yeah, definitely. I covered this when it just came out though, so I had no reference.
LeoBassCovers For sure! Which makes it more impressive how accurate you are!
thanks for the tabs mate!
That tone, I need it...
Warwick streamer
Mano, tu é foda! Obrigado! 🤘🏻
That was awsome man great job!
Thank you!
Great job! At 6:40 in your vid (8:10 in actual track) there is a lot more bass going on. Listen to a vocal/centre channel cut, you can hear it clear as day
cant thank you enough man, I'm so lost without these videos
No problem! Let's hope they won't get blocked or something like that..
I have not had the opportunity to enroll in formal bass clases, but all your tool videos have been such a blessing for this quarantine. Tysm dude you’re amazing.
Thank you very much :)
I'm glad to hear that.
Excellent cover 👍
Thanks!
Beautiful
Wow nice tone and on the spot cover!
Thanks! :)
просто красавчик. с большим удовольствием посмотрел!
Fucking nailed it dude. So happy to see such talented musicians prefering to cover beautiful music than wasting their potential making or covering pop music. Thanks for being here.
Thanks man!
Awww ! just great! Thnx
Great cover, love to play that song on Rocksmith ( CDLC) 🤘
Cheers from argentina! Keep it up
The bas beginnings had a Ravishing Sitar pedal I think with the volume washing up and down
don't even know when 9 minutes passed. That's was awesome! Good job, man!
Thank you so much!
Amazing!!!!
Amazing job 🙇♂️
Thank you!
Nice Bro. Thanks!
Well that's just smashing 👏
Amazing Cover
Thanks!
Oh thank you!
Awesome bro
Nice! I tabbed it differently but basically the same notes. Great job man, never disappointed.🤘🏻
Thank you!
Earned a sub big time my dude!
Thanks for the sub!
Way to go, this helps non basists appreciate to song more too
you deserve way more subs, great tab! I know where to have a look if I struggle playing the song ;)
Thank you so much man! Some of your videos helped me a lot with the transcriptions!
@@LeoBassCovers2 You're welcome :) Glad I could help, and now you're helping me ;)
So damn good
I feel like a “Tool” commenting again, but I appreciate the fact that you added a little bit more treble on your bass so those of us on laptops can hear it. That’s exceedingly rare. Tool likes to hide those slinky lines in the midrange, to really mess with you, but you brought it to the front in just the right way without obscuring the underlying pulse, tone, and other tracks.
I think the real difficult part is actually moving bass to the front if you're playing on top of a track. Glad to hear about the treble though!
You dare to listen to it on the notebook? Shame on you. Always use adequate headphones to listen to BASS!
one thing I do is turn the treble on my bass amp all the way up when I play, the way it should be
No words. 👏👏👏👏👏
