      Because you need to eat more volume to get the calories. Children have small tummies but need loads of nutrients to grow. So cooked food is vital. Also makes certain stuff less of a choking hazard.

    I was thinking.. you could make more videos about the food your family is growing even if you’re not the person who maintains the garden. With your partner’s consent and consideration of your kids, it might be a cool mini series on the topic of growing your own food. I myself am considering growing a peach tree from seed in my backyard and I am contemplating filming the experience.

      Good luck with that. Most fruit trees are grafted. The results of the actual tree shape may not be great.
      There are also places where you can get single saplings from though.
      Make sure they are self pollinating. Else you will have no fruit.

      Depends. Some people are highly sensitive to bitter flavors due to genetics (sort of like the cilantro soap flavor gene). I'm one of those people! Lots of food that doesn't taste bitter to others can taste inedible-y bitter to me. Coffee, dark chocolate, whiskey, dark leafy greens, some nuts, etc.
      Whereas my husband might taste some bitterness in compliment to other flavors, those things will taste like nothing but bitterness to me.

    Sounds a lot like what I was eating during pregnancy, now our baby is 5 months and it’s similar still. 1 cup of coffee in the morning, no mylk. No fruit snacks, but chocolate. Here in Finland oil seeds are to be avoided, but I have small amounts. Have been avoiding especially ground flax seeds since I read about the hydrogen cyanide poisoning risk, but now read that up to 1tbs/day prepared with water would be ok, so maybe it can re-enter our morning porridge. Is heavy metals in seeds something that is talked about in the US?

    Genuine question, when you buy mock meats from the grocery outlets, do you think you are still showing demand for that product? Aren’t grocery outlets basically products that aren’t selling the main store being sold to a discount store? I assume the first line store won’t keep stocking those products if they don’t sell. Just a thought.

    • @dutchik5107
      @dutchik5107 2 роки тому +3

      They do keep track I guess. And it's still better than having it be thrown away.
      Food is expensive, and it keeps getting more expensive. She wants to feed her family. No hate on getting the same food for cheaper.

    • @babyhairband6491
      @babyhairband6491 2 роки тому

      Yeah, not hating at all. Grocery stores have very slim margins, why would they make them even slimmer by stocking product that they resale to discount sellers? Maybe there are other factors at play but to me it seems like not buying from the first line stores directly could lead to manufactures discontinuing products due to perceived low demand.
      I’m not saying it’s all on Swayze either but I’m just wondering if it’s something she knows about.
      No one is begrudging her getting a discount on food, feeding her family, and not wasting. But supply and demand is a real business strategy so yeah…

      This is something that really you should discuss with your doctor and or psychiatrist.
      You can always freeze your eggs.
      But you have to talk about your risks and stuff.
      People get naturally pregnant at 40 and all as well. The main concern if you are still ovulating, besides it being a bit more difficult to become pregnant of course, is that you yourself are at higher risk of complications from pregnancy.

    • @carinen8119
      @carinen8119 2 роки тому +1

      I would highly recommend going to a woman's health + psychiatry specialist if you're able. Most regular doctors and psychiatrist are very hesitant to prescribe drugs during pregnancy, as it's such a touchy time. Unfortunately, the general recommendations tend to be extremely cautious ("better safe than sorry", at the expense of mom's health, leaving many people undertreated or feeling very worried and guilty if they do need to keep taking their medicine).
      However, based on lots of data, there's definitely more drugs that are quite safe to use during pregnancy if needed than we think, including a few anti depressant or anxiety medications. Many people take antidepressants, and many of them go through pregnancy. It's also important to remember that not treating depression during a pregnancy can have negative effects as well - which can help put the risks associated with some of the most recommended drugs into perspective.
      Please note that my comment is based on specialist recommendations from Germany/Switzerland for a particular pregnancy and may not apply to others.
      Do discuss with a specialist to find out if there's an option that would be right for your particular situation before making a decision.
      Wishing you all the best on your mental health and family your journey!

    • @carinen8119
      @carinen8119 2 роки тому

      A specialist could provide you with specific information on the data available for particular drugs, including specific risks of side effects and the way they were managed (more regular checkups during pregnancy, or specialist clinic for birth in case of complication, etc).
      This can be very helpful in making a decision.

    Ellen does mention supplements in her membership videos. This is just my opinion, but I think she still has some fear of criticism that could possibly be from the way vegan UA-camrs were in the 2013/2014 era. I noticed at that time (again just my opinion) that there was a lot comparison, and I think it lead to self hate or feeling inadequate as a vegan UA-camr. I’ve noticed this in the way she talks about herself as a mother. One time Ellen said she felt bad/inadequate for not making as many salads and veggies as she had more kids and had less time than she did with just Elvis or Sandy. This was heart breaking to hear because it’s so sad to me that Ellen feels like she has to worry about her kid having a popsicle or Hawaiian shaved ice (I think that was the example) even though they were vegan. To be fair she said she would never deny her children those things because she wants them to have positive associations surrounding food. She also mentioned pre-made granola bars as being something she felt bad about, but they are absolutely still healthy so I could tell there were some unresolved conflicting ideologies. Then I think about the video Freelee made where she called Ellen’s homemade sourdough bread “wartime food” 🙄 Ellen wouldn’t even cook her tomatoes for the bread in a little teaspoon of olive oil to keep them from sticking to the pan. I totally get that if you have a platform you should use it to say what’s important and what’s supported by evidence. Especially if it’s related to health and pregnancy. I think Ellen is now very hyper aware of the criticisms that she isn’t vegan enough, instead of being aware of the kind of information you put out. I just think it may not be obvious from her normal content how hard on herself she is and her internal struggles with always wanting to do more or be better. I love supporting and watching both of you though. I find value in both of your content. Just thought I’d offer up another perspective 🙂

    Omg were almost the same weeks pregnant! I'm 36 right now, my first pregnancy was pretty bad with nausea. I couldn't get out of bed for the first three months and lived on veggie broth and soda crackers, it was pretty bleak. This time around was much easier

      Almost no matter who you are I agree lol. I now take 3 vitamins daily and I have never felt better in my life, generally. If you have any medical issues it can be great to look into what may help to supplement and speak to your doctor and get blood work done.
      I am one of those people who have difficulty absorbing B12, I was very deficient once and I got very sick, so I have to take methylcobalamin now and my levels are good lately, at least low-normal. I added a multivitamin and I think it helps me absorb nutrition generally. I have avoided B12 injections yay!
      Now I have also added magnesium 250mg, I read that 400 is effective for migraines but I thought that was probably excessive if I ate more food with magnesium too, they and their associated dizziness have never felt better, my fatigue, everything. Nothing this easy has given me this much improvement.
      Also important to find good brands, good stores (in my experience CVS has excellent sales, including bogo and you can stock up for basically nothing!) and be open to your doctor so you aren't on anything you shouldn't be. I take a centrum multi (doesn't taste bad), usually get sundown naturals and nature made. I do think brand is important because it needs to be quality.

    I'm not vegan, and I'm really surprised at how incredibly similar my diet is to yours. I'm not pregnant, but my diet usually lacks enough Coline and DHA, so I supplement, Silk unsweetened soymilk is the bomb, I use flaxseeds and hemp for my usual breakfast of cereal or oatmeals, whole wheat bagels, lentil and bean with veggies in my soups, but I also regularly eat a lot of tuna and grilled fish, chicken pot stickers, and Mac and cheese. 😅😅

    You should never use olive oil for frying/sauteing. it's got a really low smoke point. the canola oil you mentioned earlier is perfect for using to cook with. Olive oil shouldn't be heated, it's perfect for salad dressings or marinades.

    apples, cranberries, melons, almonds, broccoli, watermelons, pumpkins, squashes, zucchinis, lentils, tomatoes, strawberries, mangos, avocados, plums, peaches, apricots, pomegranates, pears, blackberries, raspberries, grapes, peanuts, macadamia nuts, mustard seeds, coconuts, soybeans, or coffee?
