I have so much respect for you after saying that you apologise to your kids. Maybe they won't realise it, but it does sm in maintaining your relationship. My parents have never apologised to me. When I was little, even for minor things (like scolding me when they were wrong or beating /shouting at me when they're angry), they would never apologise. Sometimes they would act like they are sorry or I would 'feel' it but they have never verbally apologised to me. And I think it so important. It shows that you respect the person, that you acknowledge their feelings and that you are able to self reflect. Now that I am older, my parents have hurt me a lot. Especially my father, he's done and said some pretty horrible things. But every time I will bring it up to my parents, they either deny it ever happening, ignore me or (what my father does all the time) say that they were angry and that I should understand. Tbh, now I have completely clocked out emotionally from my parents and only support them financially. I find it so disgusting that they are unable to apologise tbh. I really applaud you for apologising to your kids.

I don’t think she’s out of touch. Her family has worked hard to get where she’s at. Her and her husband started out being waiters and a grocery store worker. They’ve shared one car for years. Andrew working 60+ hours for years at a tourist trap zipline place to afford a basic starter home in Hawaii. Ellen devotes lot of time to her e-books, monthly membership content, main channel UA-cam postings, birth content, podcast editing, etc. she lucked out with the timing she entered UA-cam (as most older UA-camrs did) , but her and Andrew have put in a lot effort to get where they are at.

In addition she does the podcast, membership content, monthly youtube video, Instagram reels, and maintenance of her e-books and course content. money didnt just fall into her lap. she stayed consistent with social media advertising once she realized there was a market for her content.

I feel you on the feeling like your scalp is already getting oily on the same day you wash it with fine and thin hair! Unsolicited advice, but shampooing twice, concentrating it on the scalp only and conditioning just the mid-lengths and ends was a game changer for me in that regard. And if the second shampoo doesn't get a good lather, I'll go ahead with a third. I can go every other day with that routine, but I'm not working out as frequently as you are. Maybe just a warm water rinse after a sweaty session? I also heard blow drying your hair is better than air drying for prolonging the clean feeling after a shower. Just to get volume at the root so less hair touches your scalp and spreads the oil slower.

If you have a boring life, with a boring/stressy job, would you want to watch another person blogging about their boring/stressy life? Obviously NOT. If your own life isnt what you hoped for, you escape the reality by watching a person living THE LIFE. I enjoy watching a mother frolicking through a tropical garden in rain, I enjoy the scenes on the beach and when I close my eyes, I can almost feel living this life style. And personally this is relatable to me, because I too would enjoy living a more carefree life in the middle of a tropical garden.
As for the advice she has given, I personally dont see anything wrong with it. So yeah, it may not be doable for everybody, maybe even the majority of people, but it could give you some food for thought, it could encourage you to think things over and maybe look for a solution. And a lot of people could work less, if they also spent less, but with everybody so hyperfocused on consumption and owning things, its not gonna happen. And if you feel like this isnt possible for you, then why dont you just shrug it off by saying "well, good for you" and move on?
Its like unnatural vegan said, rich people cannot have problems, rich people cannot complain, rich people cant even have an opinion. The moment they do, they are entitled, arrogant and completely out of touch. My god, you guys are real snowflakes.

Idk how they are going to keep up with that million dollar home considering her husband doesn’t seem to work at all anymore.

I think there’s always gonna be some people who are unrepeatable to us the working class but I think we need to also make changes to better our life because it’s not only about paying bills. I gotta say I too am privileged enough to make my own hours but when it comes to sacrifices I’ve done them all as well. I believe when we get to the point where we no longer compare our lives to those highlighted ones online it’s truly when we embark on our own fulfillment process. Try it. It doesn't really bother me when social media, content creators complain about their job. You complain about what you know. Do people have a right to call them out for being cringe as hell? Absolutely. But to be honest, I already have such a difficult time with social anxiety, that I simply couldn't work by myself like many content creators.
What makes annoys me is that she lives in Hawaii and is taking resources away from the native people. It really really bothers that these vegan youtubers travel and live in tropical countries, promoting lifestyles that are unattainable even for the people that where born there.

I absolutely understand the guy talking about being peopled-out by streaming. I only streamed for a little bit as a cam girl, but being "on" that way is *exhausting*. I've done retail, I've done waitressing, this was worse. Even when nobody is interacting with you, you need to sit there and perform at the camera because you need to entice people to click your screen. Same happens on Twitch, except you're wearing more clothes. It's cheerful, high energy, peppy happiness for hours. I only managed 4 hour shifts, 4 days a week, which means I was one of the people not working as hard as most models. To be successful as a cam model, the goal was 8 hours a day, 6 days a week until you make more than your monthly needs, and then you can dial back some. That doesn't include planning your stream, getting dolled up for it, etc. I didn't make any millions, by any means, I barely covered half my bills. It was fun, but not fun enough to keep going. I've pivoted to other types of content creation.

One thing i didn't hear mentioned is commute time. I spend 1.5-2 hours a day driving to/from work. Even someone who works a traditional job from home has that time back that they dont spend commuting. And as UV mentioned, I have to work 40 hours, or I don't work at all. So 50 hours of a 5 day work week is spent driving and working, and I cant just "do that less".

I never understood why people homeschool/don't send their Kids to daycare. It's good for kids to get outside of the home, meet other kids who are their peers, where they can socialize with people that aren't authority figures or related. And the parents (be they working-from-home or stay-at-home) have some space to get some necessary housework in without always having an eye on the kid that wants to climb into the open running oven or stuff like that.
That would also alleviate the stress of *always* having to entertain the children. In Daycare, they are entertained & learn valuable social skills, by interacting with others. Even if they don't do anything particularly intellectually stimulating or entertaining, negotiating social rules with peers is inherently valuable.
Not just for the kids. The whole “stay at home parent” lifestyle seems to be psychologically stressful & anxiety inducing, judging by the way women in the 50s/60s/70s struggled with anxiety, the only time period where this lifestyle ever was actually a thing & achievable. Idk if concentrating *more* on the children & less on work will actually help with the pressure of always having to be there & entertaining them. Letting them go a bit, be it by letting them entertain themselves on that giant property they have, giving them to extended Family or Daycare would probably quite that anxious voice in the back of the skull, that's fussing over if one is enough as a parent, when one can see daily, that the kids are happy without 24/7 Care by the parents.

If you're low income student and are basically forced to participate in minimum wage labour along side going to college it can be extremely draining for little reward. I ended up dropping out of college cause I was just so depressed and couldn't focus on college while still having to work 3 days a week.

What's exactly exploitive about filming your kids and then putting them online? Forcing them to act intentionally is exploitive, yes. But filming them while they just go about their business, no. As for privacy, I'm sorry, unless you live on a farm or single homestead in the middle of nowhere, lots of people see you every day anyway. Thirdly it is her business if she wants to show the inside of her home. And it is quite rude of Swayze to call it creepy. Swayze can be downright tactless and insensitive. Which is even more ironic since she is always hectoring everyone else about tact or being non judgy. Quite hypocritical imo.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but it seems unfair to say Ellen is "barely working" just because she doesn't upload on youtube. I believe she has a membership where she uploads monthly recipes, videos, etc and if you look even briefly at her other social media platforms, she mentions she working on season 2 of her podcast. I don't even follow her intensely and it takes seconds to see posts and stories showing her announcing that she's recording multiple episodes and launching this month. The video read to me like she was going to be decreasing her time on youtube to spend time with her family, she still is working on other forums.
In terms of her relatability, I've been watching her for many years, and she did not have everything she has now handed to her from day 1. Her channel is literally a lifestyle vlog channel and as she keeps working she will inevitably keep growing her success as well. Again, everyone is entitled to feel how they feel and have whatever assumptions they want, but compared to many other lifestyle vloggers, I find Ellen's content is quite genuine. Of course it won't be relatable to every single person because everyone is in different situations and have different priorities, but there are many people who will find her content still relatable. The commentary to determine if it is "relatable" is subjective and somewhat arbitrary.
