I got diagnosed with IBD this month and it has forced me to cut off all sugar, processed carbs, and gluten. I have been eating a lot of salmon, berries, kale, avocado, macadamia nuts, sweet potatoes, etc. Already I have seen a difference in my skin even though that was never the goal. Diet is SUPER important.

I'm in the same boat. I was eating terrible before gut issues. Lots of sugar and carbs. i noticed myself looking really haggard around 31 or 32. I developed gut issues and went on an elimination diet of mostly animal foods and a few select low irritation plants. A few months later i noticed the difference in my skin. The wrinkles i was getting softened and i started getting carded again on the rare occasions i buy wine lol. I'm 38 now, no wrinkles, and still get people telling me they thought for sure i was underage

I feel sad about people in their 40s talking about being comfortable with ageing. They have no idea what's coming once they hit their 60s. Enjoy your youth while you still have it. Btw - I look good for my age and have been told I look ten years younger. I’ve been on HRT since I entered postmenopause 10 years ago. I do a lot of yoga, eat well, have a job I love, a wonderful family and friends. But it gets harder and harder as your body continues to break down. It’s a fact. So, as I said, enjoy your youth.

0:44: 🔬 Collagen is a protein that makes up 25 to 35 percent of the body and is responsible for the elasticity and bounce of the skin, bones, and joints.
3:45: 🔑 Factors that contribute to aging and collagen loss include frequent exposure to pictures and videos, sun exposure, lifestyle choices, and hormonal changes.
7:12: 🧪 The scientific evidence supporting the effectiveness of collagen supplements is lacking and more research is needed.
10:58: 🥦 There are seven natural ways to boost collagen production, including eating collagen-boosting foods and using sunscreen for protection against UV rays.
13:51: ✨ Retinols, peptides, copper peptides, antioxidants, and microneedling are effective methods for stimulating collagen production.
17:28: ✨ Collagen production can be boosted through nutrition, red light therapy, and a balanced lifestyle.

Having a menstrual cycle for decades wasn't a joyride for me. Menopause often is portrayed as doom and gloom. I am learning to embrace aging. I feel more confident in my 40s, aware and take better care of myself. With age, comes wisdom. I can't control the future, but I can make smarter choices each day that will support my mind and body. I personally add Vital marine collagen to my protein shakes, and it works for me, in addition I add maca, moringa, mushroom master blend, l-lysine, vitamin c and d3/k2 and feel balanced. I would love to see more emphasis on the positive side of aging. Maybe I sound impractical, but I prefer to be optimistic.

40 is not old 😂You’re only 40 that’s why you can fantasize about ageing. Wait another 10 yrs and try again😂. Ageing is not fun, not making you any wiser, you decline so fast that you don’t want to take pictures anymore .Mental decline is the worst … focus, sharpness all gone .
Instead of” embracing” it, (that sounds cute but not realistic) better prepare yourself, be one step ahead of it , read and educate yourself how to manage the decline bc it’s coming and it’s not something to embrace .👍

@@charlottemoore9467 In 2019, the only source I could find for Gelitta Fortibone in the US was ‘Design for Health Whole Body Collagen’. At that time, one scoop contained 5g Fortibone, 2.5g Verasol and 5g Fortigel collagen peptides, ALL containing type 1 & 3 collagen. Since there is no type 2 collagen in this product, I knew that the “Whole Body” description was not accurate. While I cannot give anyone a RETAIL product recommendation, another board certified dermatologist has posted a recent 3 part discussion of collagen peptides for skin health as an adjunct to Diet and Lifestyle behaviors. She recommends diet and lifestyle as the primary intervention. In part 2 of the 3 part series, she discusses some products that contain Gelitta Verasol (No I have not looked for research on Verasol so you will have to find and read the research for yourself). ua-cam.com/video/A3jsx_wzQIg/v-deo.html . Regarding exercise I recently started with yoga, and while I am aware of the waste variety of yoga teachings and quality of such, I must say that when it is good it covers so much (resistance training, flexibility and balance, lymphatic drainage, blood flow getting better to all places thus also improving skin texture, relaxation and stress management) in just a 60-90 min session.

I notice a massive difference in my skin when I eat chicken soup regularly. I think the collagen-boosting factor is present in the part of the soup that seems to be thicker, glossy, and even a bit slimy. So you don't want to skim the soup too much. Also, eating chicken or fish skin. These are huge collagen boosters, in my personal experience!!!

I was really happy to learn about copper peptides. I saw a clip recently of a dietician who explained that zinc supplements can deplete copper. That immediately rang a bell with me, because the Covid year we all profusely supplemented on zinc was also the time my skin turned visibly thinner and noticeably sagged on me. Copper supplements are hard to find. There is a little in spirulina, but not much.
I also find that my friends who refuse HRT suffer way quicker skin deterioration than those who use it, so I suppose oestrogen must play a role too. There's a new wave of medical researchers, particularly women, who feel that oestrogen supplementation should start way earlier than menopause, for a list of reasons.

Just to drive home the point about sun damage: I was bedridden for the better part of 10+ years, from around age 15-25 and even spending most of my late 20’s inside as well. I’ll be 38 next week and most people I encounter can’t believe my age because I have very little sun damage. I’m also very religious about sunscreen as melanoma runs in my family and I want to make sure I keep my skin as healthy as possible! Thank you for all the great tips.
I also have Ehler’s-Danlos Syndrome and have been doing a lot of research into collagen depletion and supplementation. I’d be interested to know more about the different types of collagen from a dermatological standpoint.

The entertainment industry, paps and beauty/gossip mags were bad enough for unrealistic expectations of beauty or aging and superficiality. Now it's like people pinch and zoom in on photos to pick people apart on social media. Then a public figure will get some procedure done and people will pick that apart, too. We're not very good to each other.
