I am not a big gadget person, but the Doyle's Huntin' Hoist is a MAJOR quality-of-life enhancement. I refuse to put myself through the hassle of untangling and organizing a pull up rope, and have for about 10 years. I have used it with climbers, hang-on stands, and every saddle I've ever worn.

I’ve been using the webbing/strap one for two seasons. Strap has started folding/twisting a little so it won’t retract without a bunch of fiddling with it. Still works so I haven’t replaced it, but my next one will be the rope version you have. I recommend anyone looking to buy one go with the rope version.

I've been using a similar one for years, I have it clipped to my saddle under my accessory pouch! The pouch kind of protects it from the elements and keeps it quiet!!

The stitching came apart on mine when I had it fully extended up a tree. I've sent several emails to the company and no response. I wouldn't buy one if I was you.

What’s your opinion of the HSS hoist, or rather basically any of the hoist’s that have the strap? Seems like they would probably be more problematic as the strap starts to gray etc.
Last year I used the plain rope wrap around your fingers etc etc. What a PITA!! Always hanging, snagging or not working as should.
No opinion. Never have had or wanted anything but what I have. I bought right on the first try for once!
I actually enjoy using my butt out tool...
Sorry have to disagree Doyle's hunting gear hoist is too heavy to me. But maybe it's my lack of ass it feels like it wants to pull my saddle down to my ankles.
You might be better off keeping it in your pack.
