After doing several climbs with my ropeman ascender, I consider this a piece of essential gear and worth every penny. Climbing up and adjusting the prusik on the lineman’s belt can be tedious and often requires 2 hands. The Ropeman really does give you one handed operation and it’s FAST. It’s not really a hack, not necessary, but so nice to have if you can swing the $

i just started messing with a saddle this year so all my gear is pretty new. i am using some XOP gear just cuz it was more affordable and not knowing if i would like it or not but i do find myself getting pretty annoyed with those prusik knots, ill watch people use them and they seem like they work so smooth and then mine feel like i have to use both hands to actually get them to do what i want and stay tight when i need them too.

Ropeman ascender makes life easier. Prusic works well for safety, but they don't slide up great once you have weighted them. I recommend an ascender next season, you will be glad you did it.

Something else to consider to keep your tether from slipping is a small Nite-Ize twist tie. I used to the do the girth hitch but there were times it was a pain in the butt to deal with if I needed to move my tether. The twist tie with one wrap holds it in place and I can still move things quickly.
