My cousin, Alan White, played drums on this track. Unfortunately, the BBC cameras never focussed on him during this performance. He later went on to play in John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band and the progressive rock band Yes. Sadly he died in 2022 after playing drums in Yes for 49 years. Deepest respect, cuz!
I didn't know that we'd lost alan. Huge sad shame. Alan was an incredible hard rock drummer, in fact one of the very best ever. Yes were one of the first prog bands i got into during mid 90's as a teenager. This news has shook me somewhat.
I forgot to say.I was in the TOTP audience back in 1997.I think all the fiddling had stopped by then, but then again i was a six foot heavy metal fan.I dont think i was their type! Haha!
It doesn't really matter. Lets be honest here, history is history, be it good or bad no one can go back and stop anything, sadly, what happened happened. History wouldn't be history if you erased it. For the sake of the historical musical footage is all that matters!
A very joyous song. I have been a fan of Alan Price ever since I heard his organ solo on "House of the Rising Sun." The one time I got a chance to see him was at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center, NYC, back in the mid-1970s. GREAT CONCERT!
I recommend the o' lucky man soundtrack and his cosmopolitan man album from 1975. Also a very highly recommendation is price & fame together from 71. Its a masterpiece!!!!
Saw Mr. Price with Zoot Money + their amazing musician friends play at the Bulls' Head pub, London, May 13, 2010. Fantastic show, wonderful talent, all the great songs, all the nice memories. Still holds water. Better than most today. Best music night this year for me. Got a few CD's signed as well. I don't live in the U.K anymore. Just visiting. "Drove" all the way from Los Angeles to see this monthly gig, actually.....
@@ianlove1215 Almost certainly the one in Barnes. When I lived in London I used to go there regularly, and I sometimes saw Alan Price propping up the small bar, watching other acts as a true jazz aficionado does. I did catch his own act there, too, and as you might expect he is quite brilliant.
Did a search for Alan Price coz I got that Jarrow march song in my head, had completely forgotten this little gem! The Top of the Pops DJ who introduced them looks a nice fun chap.
I haven't been to the Notting Hill Carnival for decades. This song came to mind for some reason so all being well with Covid it'll be bigger and better next year. Don't stop the Carnival.
I was four years old but I remember this song being on Dutch radio. What amazes me is the fact that the song only reached #34 in the Top 40. That means it can't have been played a long time after it dropped out of the Top 40 but just enough for me to remember it. Catchy song!
Party time in the dreamy late sixties. Whatever you were on, it was a joy to be alive. Just pretend today never existed and you will instantly understand why you were born.
This particular song kind of reminds me of viewing clips and hearing about the fun and partying aboard many luxury cruises. Maybe Richard Branson might still be able to organize such events for his cruise ventures (or perhaps something aboard Necker Island at the very least).
Does anyone know what film cilips were playing in the background? Wow- great music and perfect visuals to go with it. And oh what a movie 'Oh Lucky Man' that this song was also on the soundtrack. How lucky we were that grew up with this era of music and creativity!
Love the Alan Price Set their songs were and still are some of my favourites, blimey 1968 I was 20 then. Unfortunately this video has the execrable Jimmy Saville, when he was a 'Pop Celebrity' as a DJ and host of this TV pop music show Top of the Pops.
As you know on You Tube Alan Price has sung two of Eric Burden's songs "House of the Rising Sun" and "Dont Let Me Be Misunderstood. If there is a 2 or 3 minute film of Eric Burden singing "Dont Stop the Carnival" can that be uploaded please?
Hes not a geordie. Hes from Washington. Not Tyneside. There is no geordie accent. He sings the chorus in a jamaican style. Wouldn't get away with that now. X
This was the followup to shame which only got to number 45 in the charts this one got to number 13 why did shame do so badly in the charts that should have got to number one i brought both
Price could have really left a far bigger legacy. Great organist in the Animals. Should of stuck with rock n roll or hard rockin' blues. He coulda joined another great band or formed his own. This solo stuff just didn't have that groove to it.
Turned the TV on this morning and this rubbish was playing, there is a lot of music that needs to be removed from history because they are terrible and this is one of them.....
Kind of disturbing to be talking of "removing " things from history....I can think of many things that should be added to the common pool of history but nothing should ever be removed

That's me in the hat chewing gum. I was a schoolgirl and no, Jimmy Saville didn't get his hands on me.
Hahaha! Thank God for that!

What a brilliant talent Alan Price had. As he got older his music got even better, eg the brilliant Between Today and Yesterday album
We could do without seeing and hearing that heinous creepy bastard Saville

I wasn’t born for another 17 years but this was one of my dads faves when I was growing up. So glad to find it 30 years on from when I first heard it.
Check out the fame & price together album from 1971.
Its incredibly good😊

And Sir Jimmy as a bonus !!
Strange that this song by Alan Price is not availiable on ITUNES.
Nice to see Jimmy Saville keeping hands to himself next to teenage girls. Great tune BTW
Alan Price predicting the clamour to stop the Carnival in 1968 but it hasn't stopped yet. Covid 19 may have tried but you can't stop the Carnival
Shame. Sad how many people have been stabbed, mugged, beaten, raped and sexually assaulted at the carnival since then due to political correctness.
Finally a video with Jimmy again, he'll always be my idol!
@James Knight he fidded everbody
Classic click bait.
He never did me any harm. He once fixed it for me to milk a cow blindfolded.
Lol
love this song. Shame it was introduced by Jimmy Saville!
loads of song are , cause' itwas the host of top of the pops
Yeah jimmy saville was a perv I hope he's in hell with his kind
