Another fun fact: Purple Haze originally was a grade of acid that was spiked with a trace of Belladonna, a strong poison that allegedly produces a purple cast to the vision of one who partakes. The practice of making Purple Haze was dropped because it was too dangerous, too sensitive to dosage. Most likely though, the name comes from purple-colored tablets of LSD that circulated in the Bay Area back then. Music that will forever live throughout the ages a time honored classic!
I remember this well from the late fall of 67. Great studio effects and great percussion!
Such a fine tune. Did not want 1968 to go away. It rode into the sunset.
I’m enjoying this right now and I know it’s in the past and it makes me feel like way back when I was a teenager and I could imagine what I wanted ❤
Sure brings back sweet memories I love this song, it has a very special meaning for me.
Awesome song, my sisters use to play this song over and over again on their turn table
That guitar player is Bill Bartlett. He and two other members, Steve Walmsley and Bob Nave formed Starstruck (Ram Jam) and recorded "Black Betty" which Bill did lead vocal and guitar on.
Imagine how different things could be if this music was played everywhere today and today's was gone. You'll never hear this during a drive by shooting.
Did everyone just collectively remember this song
1:43 am.....playing on the stereo in my head. Thought I'd listen
algo reminded me but I don't forget this one for long
Yes.. from when I was a lil girl in the 60's..i remember very clearly🎶🎵🎼
Actually one of my friend started weed and watch a documentary about Jack herer and this song was played and I was like " woooow such a long time "
Just, possibly, collectively people would like to disregard your comment !
What awesome and fun memories this brings back. Oh my gosh, we did have a good time in the 60s and 70s. I wasn't into the whole hippie thing but we had parties and danced always. Those days were very good for lots of us who were young, happy and didn't know of many things going on in our world. We had no money, but we certainly were sheltered kids. ❤️🤗💃
Unlike todays CRAZY MADNESS, WISH I COULD GO BACK TO THE 60/70S AND STAY THERE FOREVER.
@@andymatthews7617 it's no different. Get rid of most modern technology and avoid the news and you can live blissfully ignorant like some people did 50 odd years ago 🤷♂️
My 7th grade civics teacher always played this before class started. 😊 And I was once humming and my grandmother wondered how on earth I knew that song.
We had the most wonderful music in the 60s
Mid 60s to early 70s was such a rich and textured music scene.
There's not many groups from the 60s left. Are the Stones gone? I know the Hollies still crank out concerts in Europe.
@@jknows6980 Stones are one of the few that kept going the whole time... even though kind of took breaks.... they never totally broke up. Stones still touring from time to time.... Mick still gets out on the stage and dances. But I don't know how much longer they will be active.
@@jknows6980 I had no idea The Hollies were still active in Europe! That is amazing! An incredible band that had a huge contribution to rock.
Yeah cause everybody was drugged out of their minds LMAO.
This is the 60s. I love it and I still listen and I'm 61 yrs old.
I'm 72 , and I still love this song from 1968!!!! thanks for the post!!!
Elf Owl Thanks for watching! 😊
Baby of '58. This was cool ahead of its time. Still a kid at heart.
This song has an eclectic R & B sound (I consider myself a connoisseur of sorts regarding the R & B music). That fusion with the rock and roll and hippie tenor makes for an interesting flavor. I've always dug this song. A classic for sure.
Listening to this...I am 13 listening to my radio...thanks for bringing a smile to my face.😊
t c Glad you like some of the "oldies"! Thanks for watching. 🙂
60 70s 80s the best kiddo. Tell all your friends today’s music 🎶 does not compare to the past. You hold the torch ☝️😎. And many will follow
Reminds me of when i was a little kid back then , the blissful happiness my siblings and i had cruisin around with mom in beaufort and paris island in the big blue station wagon, all the moss hanging from the trees sun streaming thru . Took me a long time decades later to remember the calm and happiness and harmony we had before pops came home from vietnam.
Still have this 45 which I bought 52 years ago! I still love this song! We had such great music back then! So glad I grew up in the 60s!!
😃
So true Debi.
me too!
I loved this hippy dippy song when I was a wee lad and still do. Years ago I got connected with Ivan, the lead singer, and he sent a nice note and a signed photo of the band. Cool guy!
One of my favorites from late 1967. I was 14. Love this song. So well done. It's a one hit wonder as well.
I love it too! This video is trippy 🌈🔥😎💚
Recess brought me here.
I can honestly say the same thing :P
+Travis Ireland VINCE
Recess charater
You called him lance
+Travis Ireland No. As in their school recess.
The 60's was the first decade music began to stand apart. We could not have the 70's without the 60's. Dirk Disco respects.
Visiting the 60's and 70's takes me away from this current crazy@$$ world 🌎✌🍓🌈
Well said Kathryn, the worlds in such a mess, I cant see any light at the end of any tunnels.😱
The memories of this song on the radio as a child started my enjoyment of Rock n Roll.
Am I old? Yeah? And I still love those tunes from the days that were still fun.
I loved this song . I always thought it was Green Tangerines.....come on, I was 9
This song totally described 60's music. Great to dance to, in a cosmic sort of way.
As soon as we get through what's going on now it will go back i cant wait
Agree to that!!! I cry and feel a haunting slight death feeling for few seconds and then loads of miss.i hate getting older. 😢
I actually won a copy of this 45 record when I entered a contest on khj radio, Los Angeles area, back in the late 1960's....loved the song and still do....
Wouldn't you love to be a teenager again in the 60s/70s. I'd go back and NEVER return.
Havent heard this for over forty years, had actually forgot all about Lemon Pipers thanks for uploading.
Thank you so much for helping shape a generation with amazing music
I was born in 67, and this is the first time I've heard this.
Where have I been?
Yes indeed the 60s were amazing but also sad years.
Wish we had music like this again.
Thank goodness for the internet.
Drifting back to when ignorance was bliss and songs like this made ya glad to have been born
Ignorance is always Bliss, especially when you have Cable Television to pay for, and also, Fox, Yahoo News, Facebook News, local coverage news, NPR - National Public Radio, CBC - Canadian (taxpayer funded) (politically biased and correct) (anti-racist) (Pro-diversity - or non-Whites only) Broadcasting Corporation to contend with.,
One of my favorite songs from my childhood
Love it
me 7 yrs old then.

As a child of the 60's while I miss the times I'll always remember the music 🎵 and love the memories 💖
The music takes you back to those days. I can hear a song and I can remember where I was and what I was doing. I was a child of the 60's as well.
And we thought this music would never end.
1967/68 were the best years for pop music in my opinion
Great slice of psychedelia from early 1968.
It’s amazing how many songs from the 60s I recognise…my parents raised me well 😉
First time to hear this song after more than 50 years. Thank you for posting.
Raul Raul - Thanks for watching!
First time for me, Raul. Remembered it, I did indeed, after 50 years. .
Gosh i haven't heard this in such a long time, it gave me goose bumps, a trip back down memory lane as a 17 year old, now i am lucky i made 71 and counting. Best wishes Sisaket Thailand,
I was also 17 😉
Great song. Brings back lots of wonderful memories.
I miss the reality of those days....
We were better humans then.
Yeah, except for the Viet Nam War, the Cold War, assassinations, black people getting beaten and killed for having the audacity to demand equal rights, the Latino fight for fair working conditions, gays in the closet unless they get targeted... how is then any different than now?
For sure..
The world was in a better place, God help us all now.
@@blandrooker6541 the music scene and general vibes.
if you put a crown on the lead singers head, he would look like a king on playing cards.
You're Right!
+Shark Record Films and the guitar guy a jack, no?
Your comment is so wrong but so right! haha
what a coincidence!
I like how you restored that beauty of the 1969,and a fun fact;this song was featured on a 1970 Road runner commercial ;)
That's funny!
We used to sing this in Kindergarten…in 1970....Mrs Stephenson was a hippie. Life was good then,…….you know, because I was 5… and there was great music everywhere.
And Mrs. Stephenson had a funny smell you just couldn't quite i-DEN-ti-fy. :D
The sixties was the best music ever, I still listen to it on gold in the car and in the bath .....
I like sixties too. My favorite music is from those years. I listen to it everywhere and in the bathroom too.
Way to go !!
Me too! I was not fortunate to have been born early enough for this exceptional time in music history but I LOVE IT and appreciate it as if would've been around. It's timeless!
Garth Logan and
Blue Daddies...
It's amazing how a song whether it's an oldie or current sounds so much better when you don't hear it every 5 minutes
It's a pity we can't go back it's heartbreaking 💔
We can;t do that. I would have to be 14 again!
I'd go in a heartbeat, and stay there forever.
I was 12 in '68. Great songs stand the test of time.
I always thought the song was an answer to "Mr. Tambourine Man"---"Hey, Mister Tambourine Man--play a song for me?"----and he replied, "Well, listen while I play---My Green Tambourine!"
I was born in 1967 but had an older sister who had all these 45 records.
I was born in 1960 and I had the luck that we went every weekend to my family.
My older cousins bought always the newest hits of that week, so I learned all the music of the sixties and seventies and I'm still thankful that I had the possibility to learn it this way.
Memories, sweet lovely memories...
When music made you feel good about yourself and life....
NOT WANTNA GO OUT HURT SOMEONE!!!!!
please return this music to the world!!
How fun!
The 60's just cannot be beaten. Happy days
Yes...back then it was indeed Happy Days....in 2021 it's Happy Daze
I listen to these old songs all of the time . So many memories .
