Hey guys! Really need some help. I've recently decided to play the companions questline, been a while and this might be my 10+ play through. And I've never had any problems with it. But yesterday, while trying to start the "silver hand" quest, I would go out to the skyforge at night, but aela just doesn't show up! During one of my playthroughs, this happened: It was early game and I ended up in Morthal while very low leveled. I was on the outskirts of Morthal when I got attacked by Frostbite spiders. Because I was very underleveled (to the point I can't even take on Frostbite spiders) I ran back to Morthal since it was close by and hope the guards can help me kill them, luckily they did. But, along with the guards, a few of Morthal's civilians also jumped in to help, one of them, was Alva. During the fight Alva *spoiler* used her vampire soul drain on the spiders, in front of EVERYONE including the guards. After the fight resolved with the spiders being killed, everyone went back to normal like nothing happened. I was like: "Wait! Did you guys not see the woman using vampire powers right in front of you in broad daylight?!"
Yeah this happened to me too except alva immediately attacked me while the guards and citizens simply watched. And I ran to labyrinthian, to get away from her and hide. Then I died by the trolls
What difficultie level did you play this play through on? Because even on my normal play through I could take a frost bite spider quite easily low leveled with just a one handed sword or my bow from range???
Gob1 it’s the story behind the helm. During ysgramors campaign the sea of ghosts was extremely dangerous (kinda sucks that there wasn’t ghosts in the game but whatever) and so Yngol, the son of Ysgramor, attempted to cross back to Atmora and clear the way. He and his crew fought against the ghosts but a few days later, the ship landed back against Skyrim’s shores. The only thing still intact was Yngol’s helmet. Ysgramor grieved for many days and built the spire of Yngol to always be in view of the city. If you go to the tomb of yngol the account and meaning is told in the book you find.
I have a tiny detail about alvar and hrogar too! When you are sent to kill alva use a clam/ pacify spell on hrogar and kill her ending her enthrallment, hrogar will thank the player but the thing is he becomes eligible for being a spouse and if you do marry him YOU CAN LIVE IN ALVA'S HOUSE basically the only house in the game the player can use as a home with a coffin inside makes for a nice role playing aspect for a vampire play through.
as a german, I always thought Morthal sounded like a combination of the german words Moor and Tal. Moor meaning Swamp, and Tal meaning Valley, The City would be called Swamp-Valley. If people start attacking her on sight, now, that's a glitch.
WhatTheFox Thanks for clearing that up. I only noticed it recently because in past playthroughs she would seemingly disappear, although I don’t ever recall killing her.
@@whatthefox7435 Yeah, the actual "glitch" or oversight is the fact that her vampire friends turn hostile on her, which is why she usually dies in the cave. I haven't seen townspeople attacking her after the quest ends, but I believe you need to show the Jarl Alva's journal to advance in the quest, so her secret should be out. Haha, I discovered this on my current game too. Alva wasn’t home when I went to steal the journal, though Serana murdered Hrogger to death before I could try to calm him. Here’s something that just happened in one of my games. I had the dark brotherhood quest to kill Lurbuk. I used a fury spell on him to make him attack me. The tavern owner Jonna and Alva the secret vampire did the job for me completing that park of the quest with no bounty. Funny part is that Alva used her vampire powers to kill the orc. P.S. the fury spell method has worked before. I theorize that the player can complete most of the dark brotherhood story line without needing to kill anyone except the emperor.

Assuming Morihaus is the namesake of the town, they would've named it for him for a few reasons. 1. The Nords aided the Alessian rebellion and were pseudo-allies to the empire that followed. 2. Morihaus was said to be the demigod son of Kyne, sent from Skyrim to free the Nords' cyrodiilic cousins from elven rule. The Nords themselves are the children of Kyne/the sky. Due to his relationship to Kyne (or vice-versa), he's also associated with the Thu'um, meaning the Nords revere him even more.
She might be horridly bored in dreary dark Morthal, and is looking for a chemical escape. She's an alchemist, she'd know all the good and bad sides of potions, poisons and drugs.
Good point. She may have been trying to research a cure for madness for Joric. Even though his sister, Idgrod the Younger, tells us (almost fervently), "Please don't mind Joric. He's not mad...really!"
Bethesda slept on Morthal bigtime. So much missed opportunity here. They could have made it so spooky! I would have loved to see a quest featuring Jarl Idgrod and her visions. And perhaps cult happenings in a cave right underneath the town. They could have done SO much with this place.
Actually idgrod the younger is supposed to be the heir, she herself even says mom constantly says that ill he jarl someday, i just hope i can help morthal like she has
Yes but yeas aligned with her mother, and if a change of jarls were to be made by this betrayal, they would put someone more sided with the empire, that's what he's trying to say (sorry if bad written)
my favorite "City" in skyrim. that quest to go in and kill the vampire in the cave is always fun. I find vampires to be the true challenge in skyrim as opposed to dragons. it also helps that morthal has copious amounts of ingredients necessary to make paralyze/damage over time poisons.
I'm still so mad and depressed about Skyrim having so much cut out from it, and still wish they'd finish it properly.... they had so many opportunities with all the rereleases...
This made my day simply because it's something to listen to while I try to get through my rough week till my days off... *sigh* I'll take two lore-keep.
Nate's Skyrim community is just so great. There is no toxicity in the comments. Every comment is funny or constructive and sometimes provides some neat little info. We even have our very own celebrities like that Cookie Wookie guy. All in all this is a great place to be in.
I would love a video about the dremora! Dremora lord is my favorite to spawn and just sit back and watch him go bezerk on bandits and falmer with full rage!
When I gave Aldis the letter, I always got this vibe that the little intent to start a coup with actually a one-sided affair and Aldis was forced to humor his ‘partner’ by coming to Morthal to investigate because of his job
What I like about his vids is because he explains his theory/opinion and then he tells extra details then he gives other people's theroys/opinions and then he says why he thinks his theroy is correct then he sums it up and that's why I like his vids ❤️😊
Unrelated but I gave a Reikling follower the BloodSkaal blade to hold onto and it actually shows him carrying it. I was amazed to see that. It's amazing after 8 years of playing this game I'm still finding new things that surprise me
For why Morthal was named after Morihaus, it was because Morihaus was said to be the son of Kyne. And since Kyne is a major God in the Nordic Pantheon, they understandably named one of their holds after her son.
If you use a calm spell on Alva and then inform the jarl about her, she will run from the town to the vampire cave and the guards will start shooting at her, if she makes it she's usually on the side passage after you take out the main vampire.
Btw Nate i genuinely appreciate how few repeat facts theres been lately, as someone whos seen basically all of you 10 stuff videos at least twice ive noticed it a lot more
Another sadly truncated story line in Morthal is the mage Falion, his motivation for being in Morthal, why he has secret visits to the marsh at night, how he knows the cure to vampirism etc.
About Morihaus, the Nords made up a large margin of the Cyrodillic forces during Alesia’s rebellion and they rallied behind Morihaus and Pelinal Whitestrake out of a desire to kill elves and a love for battle. They probably honored Morihaus for his battle prowess.

I’ve always liked Morthal. Igrod, ever since the Thalmor Embassy quest, has been my favourite Jarl. She was looking for some fun in such a miserable and over planned party and agrees to help you out. Her distraction is pretty funny too. She just seems very chill and very well written. Oh and there is someone called Seren, which is my little sisters name. I’ve never heard of any other people named Seren than those two. Again, thanks for making this video. It’s really nice to have something to watch when at home.
Ik not sure if this has already been addressed but Grelka in Riften, is connected with mortal and Alva. If you pickpocket her journal you can read how Alva tried to turn Helgi, the daughter, and when she failed, she burned down the house killing the mom and her daughter. Idek if I’m missing something but this is really cool considering how you can only find this out with her journal in an entire other hold
You open an Ancient Burial Tomb of the Nords, you stare into the abyss for a long moment, you take your first step and you hear something move in the darkness, you shout out with your mighty voice "Who goes there" Silence. After a long pause the dreadful monster steps out of the shadows, speaking in a twisted voice: Hey guys, It's Nate here."
I remember when I first played the game and spoke to Alva upon first visiting the settlement (I try to talk to all NPC's) and she was saying how she knew what I was and to stay away from the blood in the town, I was so baffled and literally sat there like "Whut?" 😂
You know how to become Thane, Jarls will ask you to serve their people, and you have to perform quests for residents? "For the Good of Morthal" mentioned in this video will qualify you for this. It boosts your friendship with the quest giver, and the Jarl doesn't seem to care even if you have the letter in your inventory.

Nate I found out u can start maridias quest early by going to her shrin and there is special dialogue and if anyone wants to try go ahead
Finally someone else did it
I actually found her shrine before finding her beacon,in my first playthrough
you still have to be like level 14 before it can activate. you can't go there on a fresh character and start it out right
I went there level twenty and was assaulted by the most annoying voice
Gotta be lvl 12 iirc
Dude, I don't know how you do that, but I'm impressed with how you still manage to find Skyrim facts that to this very day we didn't know about. Your narration is really good, and it keeps me immersed in the video. Been watching you for quite some time, and this is my first time commenting. Just wanted to thank you, Nate!
These videos about Skyrim bring me so much joy... thanks Nate!
During a recent play through I went to redwater den and spoke to an imperial deserter and he mentions helgen and the player about to meet the headsman axe.
Thats neat i never bothered talking to any of the random npcs in there, will have to get to that quest soon on my next playthrough

I’m not gonna lie I appreciate these videos so much because it makes me want to play Skyrim again. Thanks Nate
Please never stop making these videos. These make my day so much better.
bruh last time i was this early Roggvir still had his head
This was good
Hey Nate! I just wanted to say your content has inspired me to make my own Skyrim videos. Your probably not going to read this but I just wanted to say thank you for all you do!
*You've been making a lot of "jokes" about keeping food on the table lately-- are you okay???
it’s literally just a joke, and if it weren’t it’s not like he’s gonna openly talk about his personal life in the comment section of his video.

*I don't expect him to actually tell me, but I feel solace in the fact that he might see it and know people do care about his wellbeing, especially during the current crisis. EVERYONE needs to know that right now.
@@user-112hjjsnl are you always a bitch or does this Wu-Flu got you a little on edge?
Another fun fact, if you have the follower mod Lucien and are in Morthal, he'll say something along the lines of that if you rearrange the letters of Morthal it'll spell Thalmor
Couldn't the Alchemist have all that deadra stuff to research madness and cure it. Sort of inquisition stuff so assume ownership means worship.
dAEdra
@@gergozona5245 My bad. ;-}
She might be horridly bored in dreary dark Morthal, and is looking for a chemical escape. She's an alchemist, she'd know all the good and bad sides of potions, poisons and drugs.
Good point
Good point. She may have been trying to research a cure for madness for Joric. Even though his sister, Idgrod the Younger, tells us (almost fervently), "Please don't mind Joric. He's not mad...really!"
Laid to rest is one of my favorite quests
Hey man thank you for posting so many videos. I love watching these through these tough times. Best Elderscrolls UA-camr ever ❤️🔥👍👍
Estarchi isnt morthal aligned wt the empire alrdy?
Yes but she's like the jarl of witherun, she just wants the good of her people and doesn't praise the empire
I just love getting all the poop on the cities and their citizens. Keep it up Nate! :)
my favorite "City" in skyrim. that quest to go in and kill the vampire in the cave is always fun. I find vampires to be the true challenge in skyrim as opposed to dragons. it also helps that morthal has copious amounts of ingredients necessary to make paralyze/damage over time poisons.
my favorite city is Markarth, just so unique
@@starvinnyd6143 Pretty good but I dont want to sleep on rocks. Nice Dwarven Ruins though.
I don't even play Skyrim. I just love watching your videos. Keep it up man
I do the same thing with some fallout UA-camrs I don't play the games but love seeing their videos about it
I'm still so mad and depressed about Skyrim having so much cut out from it, and still wish they'd finish it properly.... they had so many opportunities with all the rereleases...

Anyone else say the opening lines with him, or is it just me?
Thank you for keeping me entertained during this quarantine
I came across the unique Vampire Alva lines on my own. Such an awesome detail.
I would love a video about the dremora! Dremora lord is my favorite to spawn and just sit back and watch him go bezerk on bandits and falmer with full rage!
hey man, love ur vids i can't wait for ES6
When I gave Aldis the letter, I always got this vibe that the little intent to start a coup with actually a one-sided affair and Aldis was forced to humor his ‘partner’ by coming to Morthal to investigate because of his job
What I like about his vids is because he explains his theory/opinion and then he tells extra details then he gives other people's theroys/opinions and then he says why he thinks his theroy is correct then he sums it up and that's why I like his vids ❤️😊
Who else low key loves Falkreth? Like just beautiful secluded and has all shops you need and can enjoy.
I love learning about Skyrim I wish I could expain Actual skills as well as I could explain every Skyrim daerdra
Unrelated but I gave a Reikling follower the BloodSkaal blade to hold onto and it actually shows him carrying it. I was amazed to see that. It's amazing after 8 years of playing this game I'm still finding new things that surprise me
nate u keep me sane during quarantine thank ❤
Nate you put so much effort into your videos, and I love them, thanks for this mate
For why Morthal was named after Morihaus, it was because Morihaus was said to be the son of Kyne. And since Kyne is a major God in the Nordic Pantheon, they understandably named one of their holds after her son.
I have a 100+ hours save and never visited Morthal
in the most normal way possible I find peace in listening to your voice over
Thank you, I was nervous about turning in Gorn's letter. I kind of like the current jarl and I didn't want to overthrow her just yet 😅
Wouldn't the vampire assault explain the "something's coming"?
Ps: If you live in Morthal, you will NOT become imorthal!
I love puns...wish I had thought if this one!
@Tayuoki what's your problem?

If you use a calm spell on Alva and then inform the jarl about her, she will run from the town to the vampire cave and the guards will start shooting at her, if she makes it she's usually on the side passage after you take out the main vampire.
The last time I was this early there were 9 divines
There still are and please fuck off
Btw Nate i genuinely appreciate how few repeat facts theres been lately, as someone whos seen basically all of you 10 stuff videos at least twice ive noticed it a lot more
Another sadly truncated story line in Morthal is the mage Falion, his motivation for being in Morthal, why he has secret visits to the marsh at night, how he knows the cure to vampirism etc.
M’aiq entered morthal once, M’aiq met a weird man who could cure some disease
Last time I was this early Alva was still human.
About Morihaus, the Nords made up a large margin of the Cyrodillic forces during Alesia’s rebellion and they rallied behind Morihaus and Pelinal Whitestrake out of a desire to kill elves and a love for battle. They probably honored Morihaus for his battle prowess.
Hey Nate,

I swear the next elder scrolls needs an Easter egg about Nate
Yay more Skyrim I love Skyrim you should do ten things you didn't Know about "a deadra's best friend" and "the cursed tribe" if you think this is a good idea thumbs up 💜
I’ve always liked Morthal.
Rain or shine, Nate is the most consistent person in all our lives.
I was always thought that the Jarl was referring to Alduin with her "somethings coming" quote
I found skyrim late so thwnks for theese vids
Welcome to the party brother, there's no escape from TES

I really enjoid this one, nice work :)
The tip about mixing in the oil before the cocoa powder was definitely my favorite fact. My cakes come out much better now.
