Atmorans, such as Ysgramor, were large and strong enough to wield what would be two-handed weapons for us, with one hand. Ysgramor not only has a seemingly large statue, but has a poleaxe (what Skyrim calls a battleaxe) and a large shield. If we take that sort of scale into consideration, it lends some credence to Giants possibly being some of the first human settlers to come to Skyrim, and perhaps devolved in a sense, loosely akin to what happened to the Falmer.
The scale of the statues is greatly exaggerated. When you meet him in Sovngarde he's no taller than any other Nord, even though they could have easily set his scale modifier much higher like they did with Tsun. Not to mention that when you repair Wuuthrad, the very same axe he weilds in those statues, it's no larger than any other battle axe in the game.
@@blademaster2390 Ysgramor's statue shows him holding his axe with two hands. It's more likely that he used it in two hands and also had a shield and backup one handed weapon (or his fist, I guess). Though after looking it up to see if he had any other known weapons that just didn't appear it Skyrim, it looks like in ESO his statues depict him with his axe in one hand, though without a shield in his offhand. And one statue shows him holding a different axe in one hand (with only one axe blade rather than two). So maybe he did weild it in one hand, or maybe he had a second one-handed axe we haven't heard of. It's also possible he wielded it in one hand but was just exceptionally strong and not necessarily a giant.

Are we gonna talk about giant’s relationship to dwemer? You find one or two giants in blackreach. During a thieves guild or Solstheim quest it’s mentioned that dwarves weren’t small, giants called them dwarves back when giants spoke (so they had some kind of relationship). We also find frost giants and these giants are deep in the mountains. Maybe the giants were evolving into these or were originally first giants? Karstaag was also REALLY smart.
If men and mer both descended from the Ehlnofey, rounded ears may have been a more recent development as giants became nords. Although it is questionable if that hypothesis is true at all, that belief isn't as commonly held by the time of Skyrim.
I believe they are some kind of forgotten mer. My theory is that the dwemer did something to make them dumb, just like they made the Falmer blind, and probably used them as "manpower" to build their underground cities. @American Restoration Initiative And the fact that the blades were a threat to the Thalmor in the first place, otherwise there's no need in including their disbanding, allowing the Thalmor to hunt them down one by one in the first place. As for talos worship, you do realise that you're just making my point for me, right? Thalmor influence on it equals Empire pawns.
@American Restoration Initiative Then it makes no sense to have them disbanded and hunted down if they didn't pose a threat of any kind. Their duty was to protect the emperor after all and find a new one should they fail. Eliminating them one by one and as a whole ensures Thalmor control over the empire. The empire is by every definition a thalmor puppet. Wake up. The Stormcloaks are the only ones capable of defending Skyrim to the fullest.
I just want to say thank u for showing me this games I found u by chance and I'm glad I did u got me into the elder scrolls and fallout series and I love playing this games
It's well stated in elder scrolls lore that interspecies breeding (Nord on elf, or kajitt on orc for example) is tolerated and even accepted, producing successful offspring that are the race of the mother, but with many characteristics of the father. So, it's not such a big leap if anyone wanted to clap giant cheeks.
About the giants, in Greymoor DLC of ESO, there's a trial in the location Kyne's Aegis. There are "Sea Giants", culturally seems very nordic and with also weapons and skills (dragon totem for example). Also they are pretty inteligent, compared to the giants inland we're used to, they kinda seem like just taller and very stronger nords. Maybe this sketch is kinda canon? For example, Yandir the Butcher. He's very tall, very very strong, has weird creatures he summons with him. There are even some snake-like creatures, which reminds me of Akavir. Definitely worth to check.
Was overencumbered & was sneaking around a giant camp on my way back to one of my houses, a dragon spotted me & swooped down for the kill. Next thing I know, the giant is attacking it & managed to almost kill it before dying - sure made my fight a lot easier.
I think it would be interesting to meet a Giant that is a functional member of human society, one that lives on the edge of a city running a mammoth farm or something
That would be cool it would be better to see a giant city village or town like in a hollowed out mountain or something because they obviously domesticated animals and used weapons however we never see female or child giant and in a sense it could be like how some male animals leave to live alone once they get older
I bet they ate a lot of those mushrooms that made the snow elves primitive and blind, but they only ate them for a few generations so they didn't go toally blind.
I know I'm late but fun fact, the Bone Colossus of the Anniversary edition/Creation Club can make it possible for NPCs to join the Skyrim Giant Space Program
I'm guessing humans don't come from giants, they rather have a common ancestor, unless the giants are live fossils, but among humanoids it is not very likely.

I’ve been working on something giant related.. and thanks to ESO, which I’ve never played, I’ll have to do some rewrites.. 😂 My theory about Giants is that their wives locked them out when they got involved with the little people wars. Recruiting the giants for the Nords' civil war sounds a heck of a lot more interesting than the quests you actually GET for the civil war. Most of those quests are simply, "Go to this place and capture this fortress." Getting allies like the giants would have been FAR more exciting.
Giants are like lions, the Bachelors live alone. They will live in the valleys and lowlands raising mammoth herds to prove their worth. Once they have a large enough herd they will take it up into the mountains to the Giant City in order to find a bride. If they do, the mammoths are added to her familiy's herd and he will then join her family and live in the Giant city.

I think that: Those giants there in skyrim are exiles. The giants are using a memory changing magic thing to make the exiles dumb and using it to protect the tribe or something.
Recruiting Giants during the Civil War would have been badass. going to sack Windhelm/Whiterun/Solitude with an army plus giants would have been a great add on to the quest line.
Lol, it's the other way around. ESO is several centuries AFTER Skyrim. Which is somewhat explained w/the Elsweyr addition. We ally w/Abnur Tharn to fight the dragons which were released from their prison. In the Greymoor addition coming up in June, we get to ally w/Lyris (pronounced leeriss) again to fight Vampires. The empire is in ruin.
@American Restoration Initiative
And the fact that the blades were a threat to the Thalmor in the first place, otherwise there's no need in including their disbanding, allowing the Thalmor to hunt them down one by one in the first place.
As for talos worship, you do realise that you're just making my point for me, right? Thalmor influence on it equals Empire pawns.
@American Restoration Initiative
Then it makes no sense to have them disbanded and hunted down if they didn't pose a threat of any kind.
1. WHERE DID YOU FIND A MOD That adds female giants O_O
2.Giants never attack villages in my game.
Something tells me you like giant women.
I got one installed that adds sassy teen girl giants.....
I found one, I believe it was on Loverslab. Be forewarned though, Loverslab is mostly used for NSFW mods.
0:31 The kid: I AM IMMORTAL, MERE GIANTS CANNOT HARM ME
That intro was just an excuse to show off his giant mods
Has Nate run out of tiny details in Skyrim?
Nah, he couldn't have possibly
He’s just trying a new series about the giant details of Skyrim you may have missed
Anything is possible nothing is impossible
TES has an ungodly ammount of lore. Its pretty stupid how much their is.
Nate, it's 11pm here, and I have school tomorrow, you really think I'll watch this?
HELL YEAH!
You're lucky--or not--that the stupid virus hasn't closed the school...stay healthy, my friend!
Eyy same
Bro same
Not for me, school canceled for 2 weeks.
Haha try 4:00 a.m.
Have to say as someone who is just getting to Skyrim super late I love that videos like these are still getting uploaded and are still beneficial.
TheEpicNate315: giants
me a intellectual: fast travel without loading screens
It's insane how much there is to know about this franchise.
10:16 I almost thought that you wanted to say that Giants hook up with mammoths
I bet they ate a lot of those mushrooms that made the snow elves primitive and blind, but they only ate them for a few generations so they didn't go toally blind.
I know I'm late but fun fact, the Bone Colossus of the Anniversary edition/Creation Club can make it possible for NPCs to join the Skyrim Giant Space Program
Me a 6"7 Male:
You know I'm something of a giant myself.
A......um pygmy giant .
"How's the weather down there, short stuff?" -A Giant, probably
I've always wondered, how does it feel to be able to reach stuff on the top shelf w/out a chair?
6 inch 7
Dude you could be a wrestler with that size or a basketball pro. Hell, even a volleyball pro they're always looking for tall players.
6 foot 6 myself.
You're videos are that good I like them before I watch the video. Keep up the good work. :)
Fact 6: They always remind me of Lemmy. Thus. I revere them.
in the lore it's suggested that the Dwemer were friends with them; the Dwemer like automation; you could even say the Dwemer... were motorheads
But being Dwarves, they thought that 'Ace of Spades' was about digging equipment.
Thank you, you're making my quarantine less boring
"The Great Calamity"? Hhmm 🤔 sounds familiar....hhhmmmmm
*spooky piano music intensifies*
You are a giant of humor.
You make Skyrim funny.
I'm guessing humans don't come from giants, they rather have a common ancestor, unless the giants are live fossils, but among humanoids it is not very likely.
Damn it Janet.. I’ve been working on something giant related.. and thanks to ESO, which I’ve never played, I’ll have to do some rewrites.. 😂
My theory about Giants is that their wives locked them out when they got involved with the little people wars. (Of course in my wowbagger mod, I implied that the giants in Skyrim were all on a lads weekend away 😂
Here we are almost 1 decade and people are still making a “5 things you did not know about...” that’s how you know a game is good. anyways good video and you got a new sub :)
Just like gta 5 there a so many video talk about it until 2021
8:34 literally thought he based the giants design on himself when his picture popped up, it was fun to find out it was based of his dad.
Nate:"whatever the great calamity is"
Players of The Legends Of Zelda Breath of the wild: Wait! I've seen that one!
The Elder Scrolls players: What? It's brand new!
the great calamity....100 years ago
About Lyris Titanborn, and her father, he is indeed half-giant you(the player) can meet him and hear him say to Lyris that "his seed" was the end of Lyris's mom because of his heritage and he blames himself and ask for forgiveness for been more a teacher, trainer than a father to her.
And maybe, just maybe we would learn a bit more about Lyris and her roots in the next ESO's chapter in june.
Great vid Nate
"Skyrim has the best space program", change my mind
I personally believe Michal’s work counts as pseudo cannon basically cannon until something that is true cannon contradicts it
Me: walks up to giant
Giant: *skiddadle skidorbit I’m sending you into orbit*
Idk why but lately I always listen for the mouse click at the end on the video when Nates done recording his voice over. Now I listen for it every time hes done with each entry. Or even when he scrolls down the script to keep reading. Lol
Its the little things that make me appreciate how much work it takes to make one video. Keep up the good work Nate! 😁😁👍🏻👍🏻
So help me god if he doesn’t start it with “Skyrim is a giant game” I’ll forever be disappointed
Dude, giants are wild. Thanks for this lore video ^_^
I've always wondered why you sometimes see giants herding regular cows on roads. Does that mean they kind of work with the humans the cow belongs to?
Recruiting the giants for the Nords' civil war sounds a heck of a lot more interesting than the quests you actually GET for the civil war. Most of those quests are simply, "Go to this place and capture this fortress." Getting allies like the giants would have been FAR more exciting.
These are the biggest secrets ive ever heard. You could say theyre... Giant secrets (:
This is 1000% the topic I wanted to see. Thank you, Nate. Please feel free to share more giant information if you get a hold of it.
Purrrrrr...Meow
This guy is the best skyrim youtuber out there
Giants are like lions, the Bachelors live alone. They will live in the valleys and lowlands raising mammoth herds to prove their worth. Once they have a large enough herd they will take it up into the mountains to the Giant City in order to find a bride. If they do, the mammoths are added to her familiy's herd and he will then join her family and live in the Giant city.
Giants Are Always the guys to send me to the moon when I need to.
Love u nate have watched ur Channel for an unbelievably long time now
I'm really enjoying the "Things they never told you about ____" series. Learning lots of lore ❤
I just started watching your videos and didn't know where to post this question. BTW, I love the immersive mods series. Is there any way I can convince you to include a list of your most-used mods and your system setup in your description of the videos you post? Thanks for your great videos.
Last time I was this early I found out what the space program was
Noice
Oooooo do one on the wildlife next!! Like Sabrecats, Bears or Mammoths
"In the Elder Scrolls five: Skyrim."
*Shows a chick from ESO as a fact*
jonah lobe is a cool dude. i’ve interacted with him on reddit a small handful of times, and he posts on the skyrim/TES subreddits fairly often. it’s always some pretty neat stuff.
Is skyrim V worthy to buy ?
I don't have any history with this game, I'm very hesitated about buying it.
Enes Kemal It’s definitely worth it, but if I were you I would definitely set aside time to get totally immersed in the game. Play it vanilla, maybe with graphical mods if you want, but don’t add anything to the game. Think about it, Skyrim is almost 10 years old and the gaming community is still fervently playing the game. Without overselling it, Skyrim is amazing and truly a special experience.
@@Patch2112
Thank you for the tip, I love thus kind of games, I've been playing Kingdoms of Amalur reckoning, and Skyrim tooked my attention to it because of its story era. Going to try it soon.
Yessss it is an amazing game, like the other person said, we still talk about skyrim and just Tamriel in general. I recommend getting g the game get it vanilla starter first but then buy the dlcs because they are worth it
It is truly a great game and easy to spend hours in just aprreciaring the world, I recommend taking it slow and steady when you play though because there are many things to see and enjoy
Absolutely worth it. I still spend hours on this game and I still manage to find new stuff.
A giant is exactly how Todd Howard sees himself; powerful enough to send us _into the Starfield_ , lmao
Last time I was this early, the Atmorans were still at an uneasy peace with the Falmer
Nothing better then a Nate video.. sit back and relax as we dive in-
I think that:
Those giants there in skyrim are exiles.
The giants are using a memory changing magic thing to make the exiles dumb and using it to protect the tribe or something.
Recruiting Giants during the Civil War would have been badass. going to sack Windhelm/Whiterun/Solitude with an army plus giants would have been a great add on to the quest line.
Shout out to the mouse click @ 6:27
Reminds me of my videos 😭, just mine are 100x worse 😂.
Every Skyrim player remembers their first-time unexpected space program
"Where are all the lady giants?"
- Why do you think giants are so protective of their mammoths?
oh naw
Mr. Nisse im allergic
hey, if you have the right animations installed, certain things can happen....
@Jon Osterman And shave em down real good
Lol, it's the other way around. Cannot wait. Love your videos, you crack me up.
lyris was probably a reference to the harry potter character, Rubeus hagrid. he's half-giant, except in his case, his mother was a giant.
I listen to these on repeat while playing Skyrim. Still.
They have Elf ears, they’re a type of Mer?
I got to see a giant chasing a bunny a couple days ago while playing Skyrim. It was hilarious.
