John Davis is still going strong after 43 years. He's like Mr. Rodgers or Bob Barker. It's going to be a sad day when he has to lay down the microphone. Let's enjoy him while he's still here.
I was just thinking the same thing. His voice reminds me of all of the great Motorweek reviews that I've enjoyed watching over many years. I am so glad that he is still doing the Motorweek voiceovers and program reviews.
Agreed a true gentleman and car guru/auto industry expert who knows his stuff! I've been watching the show for all the years and I had the pleasure to interview him awhile back about EVs and was a great chat with one of my all time people! All the best John to you and your team for this and many futures years to come!
That’s facts! When Pat Goss left us suddenly, I got soo worried about John. National treasure 🙏🏾
don't worry he'll be around at least until the big switch to electric
Agreed. I have been watching John Davis since 10 years old I'm now 46.
Going strong, 43 years later. Motorweek, that is!
Love MotorWeek, thanks to John and the team, we all miss Pat Goss !
Why doesn't anyone at Motor week have the enthusiasm like John. I've been watching John since playing with model cars in the dirt
Did you give them a sunroof with the magnifying glass like I did? 😂
All-time fave: the Testors 1:12 scale Ferrari Testarossa with the metal frame and over 500 pieces. No sunroof for that one, thankfully.
Same
John Davis you are a part of my childhood! I hope you get to see the comments on these Motorweek videos. You have brought so much joy and the love of cars to generations of people!
Thanks for making my 13 GT500 look even better Ford lol
Lol I'd agree 😂 -gt350 owner, however if I trade I'm definitely getting a s550 gt500 instead of this 7 gen gt trash
John Davis is like everyone's grandfather. 43 years is a lifetime. But keep doing your thing Mr Davis
This might be the "old man" in me talking, but the digital dash look out of place in this type of car.
Trust me im old fashioned didn't have a smart phone until 2019 those dash screens grow on you.
The "NEW EDGE" S550. I remember the 90s
Damn, this dude is still alive
Dang so much praise for a car that's basically unchanged and that doesn't offer more performance than its previous gen
A Drift Brake? Genius!!! A feature that encourages the driver to abuse and damage their car and shred tires. What a gift to the service department.
I know. They probably will know and if you used it even once bye bye warranty
Yeah mess up the diff lol its funny how most car channels now show women drifting
@TSi99999 wont void the warranty, neither will using line lock for burnouts.
Love motorweek and watching John Davis all this years doing some of the best reviews in automotive industry! It won’t be the same when he’s stop’s doing them!😢we all miss Pat Guss!rip🙏
John can review a cargo crate and make it worth buying. Hearing John and Motorweek makes everything in the world good.
John reviewed the return of the Mustang GT in 1982. Still here today.
Its an excellent performer, but I will never buy it because of the digital screens. The last gen was tasteful, but this is getting absolutely ridiculous
I don't mind the screens, they just look unfinished and plopped on.
Yep, this car will not age well
Ummm it's 2023 every car has big screens
@@truckercowboyed2638 Ummm, not for the gauges.
In 20 years mint mustang will be crush because those screen will be no longer available in after market and oem form. Ford should put a none wussy package with real gage, radio and hvac control. Any car will outlast there screens its like ev don't think they will last 20years +. You will not see collector tesle of 40years all original.
mustangs were supposed to be a muscle car a working man can afford..
thats not what it is now..
its an over priced status symbol either driven by youths or old men..
and anyone who hates people using the side walk at car shows
So wonderful to see Mr John Davis back for another season.
I can’t imagine how much those tires cost to replace with all that drifting!😮
With the Camaro dying, Ford seemed to adopt a lot of its design. Complete style regression imo. The last gen looked so much better.
Omg get over it you people same the same ignorant statements every time, the Camaro copied the mustang not the other way around...
@@truckercowboyed2638lol no
@@truckercowboyed2638 I don't have either car so it's nothing to me - but no it actually didn't. The Mustang interior screen is straight out of the M2 (a terrible idea).. and the 'new' exterior design definitely has the looks of the Camaro...
The car literally looks nothing like the Camaro. You guys gotta let that go already. The car is virtually unchanged from the gen 6. Its like 90% the same car, they definitely changed it for the better
Yes. Nice Camaro
Did Ford beg you not to list 0-60 and 1/4 Mile times?
Ha exactly
No 0-60 or 1/4 mile times. I miss John Davis commenting on that specifically.
John Davis is a icon and he makes Motorweek. Let’s see a 0-60 and 1/4 mile test.
No way Ford will allow it
Slalom, moose test, braking distance too!
@@josephshehan4763how could they stop it? There are already sold units out here why would they want to hide the numbers?
@@TSi99999 how often does motorweek do a new model review and they don’t do the performance testing? Where the stats at?
Exactly they don't want us to see what a fat mustang misery u have to start buying bolt on s shame on ford I bet Mr Carroll Shelby would be pist with all ur respect Mr Shelby and family ❤❤
Great to see John Davis back for another year!! Iconic voice of motorweek
not a fan for the same reason im not a fan of the M4 these days...awkward in similar ways. they both ran out of ideas on how to evolve the look
Honestly, the 2006-2009 era (not sure the exact years) where they did the throwback to the OG years are probably my fav. The classics from the 60s are great but are museum pieces now and carburetors are a bit outdated. I'd wouldn't mind seeking out an '08ish Bullitt Mustang.
The 2005-2009 are the best looking and the best sounding.
Please. Friends 69 just got a BDS blown 331 put in. Far from a "museum piece". 🥴
@@newfie-dean5803 🎯
@@ezacher4634Agreed. Too many of them
@@newfie-dean5803:
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No sprint times? This seems more like a preview than a road test.
Ford doesn’t want them to show how their new tech filled heavier car is actually slower than the last generation
Wish they reviewed this with John Davis and not include the pointless and near borderline interruptive dialogue of the other reviewers. JD does a better job describing cars.
At first glance it reminds me of an Accord from the front and a Camaro from the sides. The double screens look excessive on the dash side by side.
Been watching this since the 90s. Love that familiar voice.
Now the front looks like an Explorer.🤣🤣
Kind of like chevrolet did with the blazer and trail blazer
@@shannonpatrick77 exactly..
John Davis makes this channel
I look forward to testing this "new" Mustang in the next year on Highway 1 in California. The 2021 version handled the road pretty well. Not really a fan of the rear spoiler.
Wonder if the rear side windows still can be pushed down on the convertible?
The 3.7 from the f150 is really all that car would need for a non turbo base option.
There hasn't been a 3.7 for years, it went to 3.5, to the current 3.3, the 2.3 outperforms all of those v6s, the only F150 v6 I would be interested in seeing in the Mustang, would be the 2.7 or 3.5 EcoBoost.
@@garys2157 Agree on a turbo V6, but go back a few years and the base 3.7 in the 2014 Mustang performed as well or better than the 2015 2.3T at the strip. For 2015 when both engines were first available Ford intentionally downgraded the 3.7 engine to swing sales toward the new and more expensive 2.3T Ecoboost.
Why you didn't do no 0 to 60 or 1/4 mile time ?🤯
slower than the 2018 + GT{humbling}
Because the whole segment was done from the same press junket that every major automotive magazine/website attended. There was no independent testing done, it was just a media day for the new Mustang. If you look coverage from any other source, they all drove the same cars at the same locations. Actual testing comes later when Ford sends out press cars to the various magazines/websites.
@@davej1212not necessarily.
ford's data-harvesting policies are a total dealbreaker
4:08 how was this design ok?
Horrible, completely ruined the interior
Fox body interior all over again
Glad I picked up a '23 EB Mustang with the 6mt before they went out of stock. For the most part I like the new S650 model but the lack of an available manual transmission is a huge disappointment.
You are so lucky!!! None here in Puerto Rico!!!
I custom ordered a '23 in Eruption Green after I watched the live Ford reveal last September. No video game screens, an ECU I can easily tune, and better styling for less price. I won. Ford can keep its new version, I don't want it.
@@michaelfried3123 Nice! Eruption Green was my color of choice for '23, but the local dealers only had 10-speed autos available in green so I went with a red base model.
How easy is the screen to read in the sun with the top down on the convertible? Seems like screen visibility should be a standard part of a road test now.
That, and background screen illumination at night. The Mach-e is so bright even at the dimmest setting in "calm mode". The Cadillac Lyriq on the other hand causes zero eye-strain.
The screens are great with the top down. Zero issues with sun glare!!! More room in the cockpit too. Better handling, better brakes, better performance too. Better steering feel too. You notice the improvement in steering the faster you go especially in high speed turns.
113 areas in the S650 were addressed over the S550. 7th generation is a definite better made car. I driven the cars and there is a noticeable improvement over the 2023 S550!!!
John H Davis might be turning 80 next March by motorweek’s mid season, but he’s like Bob Barker, Fred Rogers, and Pat Sajak. Still doing the show since the beginning, and doing great narration for the segment he does! God bless him!
We're not sure where you are getting your information but John is still a few years from 80 and his birthday in April.
I thought that was his child sitting in the passenger seat! Lol
It's either a very small human or a massive passenger side chair.
I'm suspecting these Mustangs could be collectors pieces in the future,
considering how things are getting electric shocked,
these last ICE versions could be sought after items.
I still miss the 2017 front, but depending on the color and the more I see it... I am getting used to it. I will take it in blue with the V8.
I actually think it's better except from the front, but the front is such a regression that it's a net downgrade IMO. Especially those black grille inserts they added to the GT.
Been watching this channel all my life. Thanks so much for all the car information. Specifically John Davis. Peace.
Not faster than last years equivalent model. Awful redesign. Mustang designed by Gen Z focus groups that can’t afford it in the first place. Good job Ford!
No competition = no care
Just be glad it still exists at this point.
Good luck using electronic parking break to stop the car if the car has no power .
They weigh almost 4000lbs! Thats why previous is quicker
heh my 96 V6 supposedly weighed 3076 lbs as manufactured. I've taken a few pounds out of it since then but I've also put on a few since 1996 so it evens out.
I know everyone hates the 4th gen V6 but it's at least 500 lbs lighter than the lightest 2024 model... that's massive.
@@shoveI turbo it and own them!
Not mine its about five hundred pounds lighter
What’s the performance? Did I miss it?
Woooo we’re glad to have you with US John!!!!
That dash is awful. Looks like someone stuck Ipads to the dash. Hope an analog dash becomes an option. Cause it just ruins the inside. Less tech please, not everyone needs or wants all that.
I still wish they would bring back the Foxbody style
Only if they were not cheaply made.
That's what we need, a bunch of kid's pulling the e brake, drifting everywhere
(Sarcasm at its finest.)
43 years John: MOTORWEEK: The ORIGINAL TV motor magazine! 🎉🎉 😉
The motor is the best part about it, the worst is the giant screen for the dash board
This mans voice is something else!
Gold!
I`m wondering if it goes left and right. What kind of suspension does it have? The fuel economy of a dragster.
Hey
I need an advice :
What transmission do You recommend?
John Davis the MAN THE LEGEND!!!
I think people just like to make stuff up just to say things. The 5.0 engine isn’t linear at all. It’s always been a peaky motor with not much pull below 4K rpms and all it’s power up top. The 6.2 from Chevy is linear
Linear means a progression of power. LT engines have a flatter curve
@@josephshehan4763 linear means the same all the way thru
@@19hundoc47 just look up the definition. It literally says “progression”
Agreed. I own a 5.0 S550 and it's like no one is home below 4000-4500.
Would be much more fun on the street with torque throughout the entire rev range.
Chevrolet has not made an engine since 1991. Go to images in Google under GM Powertrain Timeline.
Congratulations on 43 years. The mustang is huge. I don’t understand the size. Can I please get a GT without the tech for $35k
Honestly I wish Ford still offered a "naturally" "asperatied" V6
I watch a lot of the old school episodes. This is very cool.
Love it. My '24 Mustang Dark Horse 🐎 has been ordered! Black on black. Can't wait. Will sit next to my beloved 04 SVT Cobra terminator (4900 orig mis). Kudos Ford Motor on an amazing new gen7 Mustang sports car. 💯
John sounds and looks great! Awesome.
MotorWeek always makes me feel like I’m 15 again even if I’m 54 actually. It’s one of the last great tv shows ever to me . The mustang is sharp but at the end of the day it’s just some sheet metal, fiberglass and tires with shiny paint that is like everything else, way overpriced. All I see on the road are these hideous, butt ugly suvs and way to many trucks. Great job though for you guys at Motor Week.
110% agree on the butt ugly suvs and to many trucks
Great idea ford putting in a drift break, like we haven't seen enough mustangs plow into crowds. So what happened to the 1/4 and braking times that motorweek usually does, and John Davis looking good at 79
Does the front turn signal go in sequence like the rear? The separation looks like that's what they do.
It does.
Been watching john davis since it was a 5yr kid. Gonna miss seeing him one day.
The Mustang is looking more and more like a Camaro.
You should check your spelling before you make a comment.
@@rotart12arx3 Thanks Grammarly.
So nice to see the great John Davis , been watching him since the early 80s when i was a 20 year old dreaming of a Z28/IROC Z. As far is this stang, i prefer the previous model. It had more of the classic muscle car look, exterior and interior. Hate that big i pad dash screen, although im sure it is highly functional. And the lines of this one , are not as appealing in my opinion.
No quarter mile or 0-60 time's?
Davis is legend!!! Ford, I want a 2.3 manual base model! Don't make me buy a Civic sport!!!
S550 will walk all over these. Heavier and untunable.
Drift brake is just a tire waster, tire companies love this feature.
and the track test? times 1/4 mille? , 0-60 mph?
This new gen Mustang looks like it was refreshed just for the sake of refreshing it. It's nowhere near as beautiful as the outgoing model, and the interior looks so generic with the two afterthought-looking screens. Dropping the manual on the ecoboost was the biggest disappointment.
John Davis still go the voice, enthusiasm and jackets!
Dear John: 43 years 🎉🎉
I fallow M.W. in Costa Rica since 86. 🇨🇷
It's about time to bring back the SVO. 🐴
John Davis your Awesome, I've been watching Motorweek since the early 1980's ❤❤
I`m wondering if it goes left and right.
That's been old news by now
John is the man👍
Love the sound of that 5.0 coyote. Nothing sounds as good as an American V8. Kudos to Ford!!
UA-cam has many tests now. Most running 12.4 quarter at 114. Slower than last one.
Slower time and barely 3mph faster than Gen 2 S550 ... Lol
@@ronsmith4325 for more mullah too
4:03 CEL already?
Where's the performance data??
Screens look really tacky
It’s a dud , slower than the previous Gen. Also the ECu is locked so no tuning
John Davis gives me a weird sense of comfort lol
John The Legend!
You got to add the performance exhaust option, the expensive as hell track package options for wheels and tires.
61,500 is my Mustang GT build with Magride, active exhaust, and performance package!
This was a 44k car equipped the same way in 2021 with discounts. Ford has lost their minds!
I'll start looking at Audis and BMWs now, this is way too much money for a Ford with crappy quality.
No 0-60 and quarter mile test? For a Mustang? But you cover the drift brake. Thanks for wasting our time.
No question it is better than previous generations, just wish it didn't look like a refresh of the last generation. But we all have our favorites. I will stick with my 2020. Thanks!
2:30 the ecoboost only come with an auto. It does not matter because only guys who sit when they pee would want one.
Weird, the ecoboost tested for the burnouts had paddle shifters but production does not seem to offer them at any level. Reserved only for the V8.
I am so impressed
Love how these vidoes look and sound like they were filmed 30 years ago. haha
Drag test?
I like everything about the GT but the dash. The huge long screen just isnt attractive. In a car like that a real set of gauges would look so much better.
Wayyyy tooo much money
I like how aggressive and broad it is, but it just looks like last Gen
