In 1968 I had a Mustang GT/CS that had, as part of the California Special decor package, tailights from the 1965 Thunderbird, and they too, were sequential. I know that was before you were born, so I'll give you that. Us Mustang lovers cringe when a supposed expert gets basic information incorrect. But, we still love you, so keep up the good work...
Brembo 6 piston fronts and twin piston rear brakes came on my 2018 STi and I could never go back to having lesser braking power. That much braking power is amazing, and proven life saving at times.
I have owned old school Mustangs, including a '67 Fastback, and several models up to the modern era. This looks like a fun car, and I probably would be happy to own one (my wife would definitely veto that, though). Thanks for another video, Dough.
Mustang has an optional 'drift brake' available in the 2024 models. That may be an option here. I've heard good things about it online, but haven't experienced it personally.
I think the thing in question is a financial investment scam that tricks people into donating to cybercriminals to fund criminal operations, at least based on other UA-cam videos I've seen where the hosts expose the scams. The cybercriminals appear to specifically target popular UA-cam users who produce videos in English, at least from what I can tell. From what I can tell in some UA-cam videos I watched, I think the cybercriminals use custom-made malware that controls many UA-cam accounts at once to automate the spamming process, because in one of the videos, someone deleted one of the comments and another user automatically posted another comment with the same scammer's contact information, then it went on until the parent comment was deleted.

I thought the mustang GT was faster than the Nissan Z according to the race result videos on UA-cam. But both the dark horse mustang and the Nissan Z are unique in they own way
i like this garage setting where the newer videos were filmed but i also liked the variety before. I hope we will still see the background changing every now and then
The Dark Horse is one "gotta have it" Mustang. However, besides the design where Ford has saved a lot of bucks, I only wish that Ford had made this car in all aluminum instead of steel to reduce the weight.
They can do that with the F series, that’s still body-on-frame, that’s not that much of a stretch engineering wise. On a monocoque though that’s a different ball game. They would totally over shoot their price point. That’s not even factoring in R&D and retooling delays.
The money saved on the design same can be factored into the usage of Mustang body panels. Infact Ford did posted a job on the LinkedIn for the Mustang project and expertise in AL. This post was shared on Mustang6G forum. Besides the base price of Mustang which sits around $40K. None of the components used in Dark Horse can fetch another $25~30K which is the again restarting the nearly the same $40k price (that offcourse includes good amount of profit).
Because people whine that they don't have inefficient, edge case, non-profitable drivetrains, Louis Vuitton leather for seats, 15,000 screens, adaptive satellite radar AI-powered flux capacitor cruise control, heated/cooled/massaged/oiled/flavored seats, capable of 0-60 in 0.0001 seconds. So companies try to build those cars and they end up being $60,000+. It's still possible to build a bargain bin V8 RWD. No one would buy it. I would, you probably would, not en masse, people don't buy cars without features anymore.
PS - If you want proof, just look at the F-150. Those can be had in the high 20's, low 30's with a V8, and those are bigger, capable, more expensive to produce trucks. But you have to be willing to settle for "fleet" levels of features.
Lol I actually cracked up when you revved it in stock exhaust mode it’s definitely loud. My 2013 5.0 stock exhaust was extremely restricted, it’s amazing to see how it’s changed over 10 years
I’ve said it before, FoMoCo should offer this in the Explorer. Ever since they changed to a rear-wheel bias platform with a longitudinally mounted engines(s), I’ve been waiting for the 5.0 version and I think it would sell like hotcakes.
It would definitely be a nice option, but the EcoBoosts have outsold the V8s since literally the first year they offered the 3.5lEB(they actually got a lot more demand than they expected, which is kinda hilarious considering the internet "outrage" over trucks getting turbo gas engines, "oh the horror" lol) Would certainly make for a cool swap if you found a cheap salvage title RWD2.0 era Explorer, or maybe even a Godzilla swap. Put it on air bags to beef up the capacity a little more, have a sleeper tow rig lol.
@@RyTrapp0 I was referring to the latest gen (6th) Explorer, it isn’t available with a V8, which is why the EcoBoosts have “outsold” them, lol. This latest gen has the longitudinally arraigned drivetrain so it would be finally compatible to a V8. Just imagine a Timberline with a Coyote 5.0, mmm.
@@richgallagher725 No, I'm saying the EBs have outsold the NA engines in everything they've offered them in, outsold the 5.0l in the F150 the first year they offered the 3.5EB; that's likely why they didn't bother offering the 5.0l in the new gen, because it's just a handful of people like us that would prefer it/actually care about what engine it is. Damn it would be nice though. Would love to see the modified ones on the internet running 10s or 9s, like these Coyote F150s lol.
Kinda disappointed Doug didn't show off remote rev (Autovlog didn't either), such a cool feature. Not to mention the handbrake's other function as a drift brake
I looked at one today and I was very impressed. Ive never been a big Mustang fan but for this one I would make an exception. The car has a very aggressive look. Overall, the car is beautiful.
For me, the styling of the new Mustang is fairly enough of a redesign to retain its signature look while keeping it fresh. The Mach-E is already too unconventional for what we know and love about the Mustang nameplate, so I guess it makes sense to make the original one more traditional. I just wish the '60s style dashboard layout from the previous generation has been retained and improved with newer touches. The one in the '24 model feels too modern in my opinion.
The gauge panel looks out of place and the side body style has no character compared to a 2020 Mustang for example. Ford should've put a livery on the doors that says "Generic Sports Car."
I think GM knew about this and it was one of the nails in the coffin of the Camaro. This car is technologically way ahead of the Camaro and more powerful than an SS1LE. I might sell my 2021 SS1LE and buy me one of these.
From photos of the new Mustang I can see why people say it resemble the Camaro. But when I see it in person it just looks like a Mustang. I’m not sure I’m a fan of the kinked taillights and trunk kid though. They just look kind of funky. The Dark Horse seems like a good value for a V8 muscle/sports car. It will be interesting to see what upgrades a Shelby version will have.
Thank you Doug for presenting a RED one. I have watched several reviews of this car and this is the first time I have seen this car in red. Now I want one.

Doug as always you provided a nice overview of the Dark Horse 🐎. Now that it has been out for a year we know much more about the car. I noticed in the comments that most enthusiasts already mentioned the stuff that you didn’t cover. Heck the Handling Package is $4500 dollars not 5K. The Recaro seats are not standard but a $1600 dollar option. The reason there is no heating/ventilation on the Recaro seats is that Ford saves 36 pounds by removing this capability from the Recaro seats but it is on the stock seats. The transmission automatic 10R80 is programmed to shift quicker in Sport/Track Mode in comparison to Normal or Rain or Comfort or Calm Mode. Doug, Ford addressed >113 areas of the S550 to arrive at the S650. Drive the S550 GT then immediately drive the S650 and if possible the Dark Horse. The driving experience is significantly enhanced/improved as you check the new Mustang out!!!! So it is NOT Accurate to say that the car is not all that different from the previous model!!! That would be totally wrong!!! Lastly Car & Driver Magazine wrote that the brakes on the Dark Horse 🐎 are best brakes ever tested by the magazine in the 41 year history of the Magazine. Ford improved the response timing of the Brake by Wire for the S650 and improved the material that Brembo uses in the brake rotors. So actually better than the hyper car Ford GT & Shelby GT-500. Now I track my cars about 30 days per year. I have been doing this for years. Plus I raced for Porsche in the 80’s & 90’s. I have watched, first hand at 21 tracks on the East Coast, the Dark Horse out perform the Mustang Mach I, GT-350, GT-350R, GT-500, & Corvette C8 Z51 regularly! I have witnessed this first hand at the tracks. The Dark Horse with The Handling Package is impressive. Now I am seeing the owners of the DH 🐎 showing up with the Whipple Gen 6 3.0L SC and now the Dark Horse is out performing the Corvette C8 Z06. It is amazing to see the owners of the mighty flat-plan crank LT6 engine come back to the chocks/garage saying how the Mustang DH passed them on the COTAs in Texas. It is funny as heck to see the Z06 owners humiliated by a cheaper car. This is only Mustang DH 🐎cars with the Whipple stage II putting out 800+ RWHP. StangMode’s Dark Horse is putting 1000+ RWHP. His car contacts in NJ have their Dark Horse doing 8 second 1/4 mile runs. His car is doing 9.9 seconds. So custom tuning is right around the corner like March timeframe. Cheers Doug🥂‼️👍👊💪🇺🇸😎
26:12 you rate the Darkhorse 7 for acceleration but the Z and Supra at an 8. The Darkhorse has been tested at 3.7s 0-60 while the Z and Supra tested at 4.2 and 3.9 respectively. What gives?
It’s only the last few....well ten years, Australia is or was the most congested car market per capita, of anywhere else....Since discovering Doug at about the time car reviews started, a 500hp whatever that is in modern terms, ie. Metric. But mostly ordering that in Auto....”only in America” think Doug missed out by getting the press car versus the guys at Throttle House getting an owner with taste, Manual and the handling package...I’d love to one day see a review of the last of the Ford Falcon XR8 and/or XR6. The Chevy SS is a Commodore....but they were both built as badly as each other before we stopped building cars.
20:17 Doug, don’t say the Mustang II were bad times for the Mustang. Fact is: If the Mustang II didn’t sell really well as it did, we would’ve NEVER had Mustangs past 1978! The Mustang II was the right car at the right time. The Mustand II even LOOKS like a Mustang should like you explained, unlike anything 1979-2004.
20:49 Ok, I had a 2015 Mustang until last year and this 2024 looks almost the same to me. However, I also had a 2005 and a 2012 and those 2 cars were COMPLETELY different from each other and for sure from the 2015s. Look at the rear window on the 2005-2009, interior is completely different, the door handles are different. The doors are different. The fronts and rear are totally different, not even close. The 2010 shared the same drivetrain as the 05 to 09s but in 2011 that was upgraded from the 4.6 to a 5.0 and went from 5 speed to a 6 speed. It was the same with the V6 too and you also got dual exhaust on the V6 in 2011 for the first time.

On a Scat Pack I went from 4-piston Brembos on all 4 to 6 on front (OEM Hellcat) after a close call. Totally worth it.

It's definitely the option here. The basic one with not drift package just has a regular push button break.
Well they had one.
Trip 1: 9.4 mpg....love that. Means it's being driven the best way
Dang, Doug out here getting his comments spammed about some stupid Amazon thing 😅
You did a fantastic job with this video! I just got a Dark Horse and i learned so much more about my car because of you. Thank you so much!

If I owned this car, I would turn the badges upside down.
I just got mine in Grabber Blue and Black, and I love it so far. I don't fathom how it accelerates slower than a Nissan Z, though.
I thought the mustang GT was faster than the Nissan Z according to the race result videos on UA-cam. But both the dark horse mustang and the Nissan Z are unique in they own way
Nissan is going bankrupt, quicker than ford too ❤
The P-Zero is a PooPoo tire. They should have kept the Pilot Sport 4S. Great video regardless. Just wanted to give some semi-expert advice.
i like this garage setting where the newer videos were filmed but i also liked the variety before. I hope we will still see the background changing every now and then
The 2024 Mustang with Snake Badge should've been better.
The Dark Horse is one "gotta have it" Mustang. However, besides the design where Ford has saved a lot of bucks, I only wish that Ford had made this car in all aluminum instead of steel to reduce the weight.
However wouldn't that significantly INCREASE the price and sort of negate everything they did to 'save a lot of bucks'?
@@StreetPreacherr True that 👍
Not stiff enough buddy
I love the graphic on the rear glass showing off what you could have bought if you had taste :) Old mustangs are the good mustangs!
I got a new 5.0 Mustang LX in 1988. It was $12,500 plus tax. Amazing the costs of 5.0's these days.
I had an '87 LX 5.0 (new), lots of fun...and a real "sleeper." Then went with an '89 GT, but that LX 5.0 was a superb subtle muscle car!

I love this car, but my favorite part of this video is how Doug's "THIS" echos off the walls. Doug is simply my favorite!
I’ve said it before, FoMoCo should offer this in the Explorer. Ever since they changed to a rear-wheel bias platform with a longitudinally mounted engines(s), I’ve been waiting for the 5.0 version and I think it would sell like hotcakes.
It would definitely be a nice option, but the EcoBoosts have outsold the V8s since literally the first year they offered the 3.5lEB(they actually got a lot more demand than they expected, which is kinda hilarious considering the internet "outrage" over trucks getting turbo gas engines, "oh the horror" lol)
Would certainly make for a cool swap if you found a cheap salvage title RWD2.0 era Explorer, or maybe even a Godzilla swap.
@@RyTrapp0 They buy the twin turbo because of the hype. The 5.0 is the best motor for the F150.

I looked at one today and I was very impressed. Ive never been a big Mustang fan but for this one I would make an exception. The car has a very aggressive look. Overall, the car is beautiful.
The interior is perfect! I love the futuristic theme with fancy screens inside. Don’t care for the automatic transmission though
Don't love the styling of this red one, but the grey looked really good 🤤
I think it just looks bad because Doug is low-key terrible at making videos and got the lighting and exposure all wrong
Anyone else think it looks like a Subaru BRZ from the side?
For me, the styling of the new Mustang is fairly enough of a redesign to retain its signature look while keeping it fresh. The Mach-E is already too unconventional for what we know and love about the Mustang nameplate, so I guess it makes sense to make the original one more traditional. I just wish the '60s style dashboard layout from the previous generation has been retained and improved with newer touches. The one in the '24 model feels too modern in my opinion.
Looks almost exactly like the Camaro now, especially in profile. 🤣
was just going to say this, the older gen cluster felt so much more muscle car like. sometimes modern =/= better
The gauge panel looks out of place and the side body style has no character compared to a 2020 Mustang for example. Ford should've put a livery on the doors that says "Generic Sports Car."
Doug is the kind of guy who assigns sound effects to words.
Love this! I can’t tell you just how much of a difference the magna ride is…. A must
I think GM knew about this and it was one of the nails in the coffin of the Camaro. This car is technologically way ahead of the Camaro and more powerful than an SS1LE. I might sell my 2021 SS1LE and buy me one of these.
Came for the Dark Horse. Stayed for the Dark Horse.
Dark Horse.
The fact that this car exists is retarded. There are several previous Mustangs that are better than this, and available for less money.
I only see the Camaro resemblance with the rear end
