N S i I disagree. The idea behind this cut, in my opinion, has a lot better pacing. They don’t have the resources to completely rework the scene but the execution overall is a lot tighter. The lack of the buzz droids really makes it feel a lot more urgent.
Fairly impressive, although I think that the color filters on the laser beams and ships were unnecessary, and that bunch of voices from the beginning of the clone wars movie would have been better suited for when the Jedi star fighters dive into the fray and start flying through the battle; it better encapsulates the chaos around them
Darth Knightwing Phoenix .. good idea, but at the beginning the voices also add a sense of mystery which you later find out when the the jedi starfighters dive into the battle
Covenant of Legions a sense of mystery is not what Star Wars is about, it's about wars being fought across a galaxy with advanced technology. And for a series which is about war, they never seriously pondered the philosophy of said wars until The Clone Wars series. For them to at least try to paint a picture of how chaotic the war, or at least this battle, truly is, is a start, which is why the voices are better used during the battle.
Darth Knightwing Phoenix At the beginning there is only the sound of chaos while no fighting or death can be seen. Then once they plummet into the fight there is no sound but the lazers hitting ships. I think it adds layers to the scene.
Yes, the buzz droids sapped the scene of the pacing and made it too comical. It needed to be strongly paced so the energy was better communicated. Only leave the droids if you're willing to make a statement the lets the audience know that they need to get back on task.
@@jamesdenofantiquity my problem with the Buzz droids is that they don't make sense to exist before the originals. They're not only extremely effective at ripping apart ships mid-flight but also super cheap, and it makes you wonder why the Rebellion or Empire didn't use these in combat
As cool as this space battle will always be to me as a Star Wars fan, as a Halo fan this is the WORST scenario any UNSC ship could be in. Best to keep yourself at a distance rather than being in broadsides with another ship, especially when your opponent is armed with more technologically advanced and powerful weapons. Learned that the hard way during the UNSC-Covenant War...
This is the best re-edit of the intro scene I've seen yet - tight and on-the-point while being so well edited there are no odd connections between individual shots that leave you thinking you must have missed something. Nicely done!
the best part, for me, of this edit was the ending, how you included the main theme while they were chopping up droids. It really made that part more interesting
Imagine that there is indeed a civilization millions of light years away this far advanced fighting some galactic war as we speak?, remember we humans started out in caves with sticks and stones, fast forward 2020 years and we're in space already, imagine if they had a 5000 or 10,000 year head start? I wish I could be there to see it, that would be so awesome! If there was such a place that was that advanced and they offered you a chance to live in that time, would you do it? I would.
Looks like we were lucky to appear somewhere on the outskirts of the galaxy, because otherwise, taking in account our menthality and history, we'd probably have a lot of problems with aliens. Or maybe now we're under protectorate of some powerful xenophilic empire, which cautiously tries to guide us towards space flights and planet unification. We could even be the last remnants of once powerful space civilization, which was completely destroyed except for small undeveloped colony in Solar system. Who knows...
Sticks and stones? 2020 years ago, we were far from being cavemen. The Roman Empire was expanding to the height of their power, and if the Western Empire had not fallen due to factors like political decline and external invasion, they could have had an industrial revolution 1500 years sooner! They had achieved a theoretical understanding of steam power, and had all the tools and understanding they needed to create the first steam engine; they had flush toilets like we have today; and they pioneered and created many of the surgical tools and practices we still use in modern medicine. Granted we were set back into the "Dark Ages" after the Roman Empire fell, we still had Toledo Steel being manufactured for swords, and still had some level of sanitation, concrete, wheelbarrows; and some pretty advanced empires in the east, in Mesopotamia and China.
Humans have actually existed for about 200,000 years. The date we use now is just the amount of years since Jesus was supposedly born, hence 2020 A.D. (in the year of the lord)
A pair of starfighters. Jedi starfighters. Only two. Two is enough. Two is enough because the adults are wrong, and their younglings are right. Though this is the end of the age of heroes, it has saved its best for last.
While the editing is great the part I like best is when the main theme kicks in when they enter the ship. The prequels had great music but they almost never had the main theme appear outside the opening crawl and closing credits. It really helps it feel like a Star Wars movie!
That was a lot more intense. The pace slows down in the film version with the little buzz droids crawling all over the jedis ships, wish there was a version like yours we could own officially.
Nice visuals. I just didn't like how Obi Wan and Anakin spent so much of the time battling the homing missile droids. Should have placed more dog fighting instead
"Let them pass between us." _"HERE THEY COOOOOME!!"_ *Damn!* The hype is real. 😆 Spetacular job you did there. It took me a while to realize this was an editted version, until I started noticing some things were different from tge movie. Not gonna lie, I don't envy your hardwork. Editting this must have been exausting. But in my humble opinion? It paid off. This is actually much better then the scene in the movie. Congratulations! 😊 Oh, and before I forget: _"All hands to battle stations! Repeat! All hands to battle stations!"_ _"This is not a drill! Repeat! This is not a drill!"_ _"Attention! All second staged pilots, on deck!"_ _"Attention all pilots! Attention all pilots! Prepare for take-off!"_
Even to this day I find it so cool how much detail they put into the precursor designs of star destroyers, x-wings, TIE fighters, etc. within the clone army!
Damn, this might actually be better due to the intensity of the scene holding until they finally get into Grevious' ship! The buzz droids and Anakin doing the spin to evade the missiles sort of kill a lot of the suspense
2:34 HOLY SHIT! I just noticed a possible reference to the X-Wing games! Remember, in the X-Wing games, you had two sensor displays, one left and one right. The right one showed you all units in front of you and the left one showed you all units behind you. In this scene, Obi-Wan looks at his left sensor display, which shows him the enemies behind him as red dots, just like in the X-Wing games! I've seen this movie thousands of times but this is the first time I noticed this!
NAILED THIS! I was always kinda bummed by the original III opening. A massive space battle and we spend 5 minutes on buzz droids. You gave this the intensity I feel a space battle would have, and it mounts on it too, where it becomes a desperate sprint for the hangar door. I felt like they almost didn't make it. Well done!
You ever noticed how in the very beginning of this scene there is not a single ship under that republican cruiser but when anikan and obi one fly over it all the ships just appear

I disagree. The idea behind this cut, in my opinion, has a lot better pacing. They don’t have the resources to completely rework the scene but the execution overall is a lot tighter.
The lack of the buzz droids really makes it feel a lot more urgent.
When they enter the hanger and Jump out of their fighters after it’s just perfect with the classic music!
I agree. The added voices give the opening a brief but more interesting build up.
Nathan Brinkerhoff ***** I disagree. I think that it just confuses the audience and seems unnecessary when placed before the battle.
Girls: OMG A WAR? IN SPACE? WHY CAN'T WE JUST STAY ON EARTH AND LIVE IN PEACE????
Boys: FOR THE REPUBLIC!
Men: For the Empire!
Legends: I like this guy...
Droids: For the Separatist Alliance!
I like how that first Star destroyer has one side dark and one side light
This whole sequence > the Sequel trilogy
OKAY WE GET IT. THE SEQUELS WEREN'T WELL RECEIVED CAN WE SHUT UP ABOUT THEM FOR TWO SECONDS
Never thought anything was really wrong with this opening (the buzz droids were fun) but I really enjoyed your take on it. Great work!
'Anakin. Good luck'
[Cut to Battle of Coruscant]
'Another happy landing..'
[Cut to Siege of Mandalore]
👍🏻👍🏻 Ahsoka would approve
I still believe there’s still hope for Star Wars to come back to its glory days.
I like this....you deleted all the buzz droid nonsense. Well done!
If you can land on them with buzz droids, can’t you land on them with exploding droids...seems that would be more effective.
John Chapman too expensive. Better to just fire explosives instead of wasting a whole droid
Idk buzz droids were cool
I just realized how impressive that single shot was; it looked pretty realistic and all the subtle details in the background made it even better
This is and will always be my favorite of the Star Wars movies
My favorites out of the prequels. Empire is my favorite out of the originals and the force awakens is my favorite out of the sequels
I just love that "here they come" at 1:52. It gives that eerie oh shit we doing this now vibe.
I so can't wait for February 21.
2:05
Hey, that sounded exactly like that bug-faced droid R2 meets at the sandcrawler in episode IV!!
Oh, God, why do I know this?....
Pretty sure that droid doesn't say that in the movie.
My favorite opening in the whole series, a spectacle where Star Wars lives up to its name.
0:13 first time watching this i was like ahh look thats beautifull
then 0:39
HOLY SHIT!!!
This edit is way better than the original. The buzz droid part felt so pointless. This really moves way faster. Nice work!
Anyone else hear the subtle "HEAR THEY COMEEEEE!" from one of the clone pilots at 1:52 ?
This is the best re-edit of the intro scene I've seen yet - tight and on-the-point while being so well edited there are no odd connections between individual shots that leave you thinking you must have missed something. Nicely done!
I get goosebumps when I hear the part where one of the clone pilots says "HERE THEY COOOOMME"
The clone wars in full swing here is unbelievably awesome and the scale is incredible
0:36 Time to dive into the fireworks!!
"We WILL survive, Galm 1."
Nice Ace Combat reference :)
Hey its Oddball from the clone wars! 1:26
i wonder if he survived this
Just checked wookieepedia. He survived and flew a gunship at Utapau later.
+Mjw Kim oh that's cool then I was worried he was the guy who got sucked into space by the buzz droids
Yeah same : )
Wasn't he the one who shot Plo Koon
the best part, for me, of this edit was the ending, how you included the main theme while they were chopping up droids.
(in the year of the lord)
who is this joker? we had more than 2020 years to evolve lmao.
@@veo16still, another species could’ve had way more time to develop
A pair of starfighters. Jedi starfighters. Only two.
Two is enough.
Two is enough because the adults are wrong, and their younglings are right.
Though this is the end of the age of heroes, it has saved its best for last.
1:05 i always loved that part
Truly one of the best shots in cinematic history.
Adding in the radio communications from the clones in the beginning was an excellent touch for true fans
2:54 the music really made it hype
While the editing is great the part I like best is when the main theme kicks in when they enter the ship. The prequels had great music but they almost never had the main theme appear outside the opening crawl and closing credits. It really helps it feel like a Star Wars movie!
That drum over the battleship invokes something primal in me
I REALLY like the added clone comm chatter. Especially at the beginning. Definitely adds a whole new vibe and perspective to the scene
Would you happen to know the source of that comm chatter?
@@danielk5780
Might be from the animated clone wars series. Thoigh don’t take my word for it
@@danielk5780I think most of them are from the 2017 bf2
Much better, no more idiotic missile chase and overcomplicated sabotage droids.
Good job :)
If only Star Wars made the sequal trilogy battles like this instead...
That was a lot more intense. The pace slows down in the film version with the little buzz droids crawling all over the jedis ships, wish there was a version like yours we could own officially.
I NEED more republic content like this. The republic had by FAR the best military and navy with some of the most attractive designs.
Nice visuals. I just didn't like how Obi Wan and Anakin spent so much of the time battling the homing missile droids. Should have placed more dog fighting instead
That shot 2:41 of the starfighter, was that from the movie ?
@ Kyro91 I say keep the Buzz droid sequence and everything in this is awesome!
This is way better, you feel the chaos of war
remember when having a bad feeling about something meant something ominous?
This version is made splendid! I agree it all the way! Many thanks for upgrading it.
Greetz from The Netherlands.
Idk how ppl hated the prequels when the new trilogy is trash
At least the prequels were really entertaining
This opening is legendary, the sequel trilogy didn't even bother to top this.
This is excellent work. The edits on this scene make it feel like a segment from the original trilogy!
The addition of music when they enter the hangar is desperately needed in the actual movie. It's so bizarrely quiet and awkward for way way too long.
"Let them pass between us." _"HERE THEY COOOOOME!!"_
*Damn!* The hype is real. 😆
Spetacular job you did there. It took me a while to realize this was an editted version, until I started noticing some things were different from tge movie.
Not gonna lie, I don't envy your hardwork. Editting this must have been exausting. But in my humble opinion? It paid off. This is actually much better then the scene in the movie. Congratulations! 😊
Oh, and before I forget:
_"All hands to battle stations! Repeat! All hands to battle stations!"_
_"This is not a drill! Repeat! This is not a drill!"_
_"Attention! All second staged pilots, on deck!"_
_"Attention all pilots! Attention all pilots! Prepare for take-off!"_
“Droid fighter on your tail!”
I think the new dogfight works very well!
Now this is a welcome sight. A++.
The drums before Anakin and Obi-wan come roaring in goes so fucking hard.
Whenever I play this music in the car while I'm driving I always picture a space battle like this
Nice job very well thank
Even to this day I find it so cool how much detail they put into the precursor designs of star destroyers, x-wings, TIE fighters, etc. within the clone army!
The radio chatter is a nice and realistic touch
The best Star Wars intro ever.
The best intro star wars movies.
The fact that rots is 15 years old makes me feel old
I also love how at 0:50 you can see the republic ships of the open circle fleets starting to arrive in formation
Damn, this might actually be better due to the intensity of the scene holding until they finally get into Grevious' ship! The buzz droids and Anakin doing the spin to evade the missiles sort of kill a lot of the suspense
Man the adding of the music at the end just showed what the prequels coulda been/
Also when they they are getting ready you can hear a clone pilot saying here they come
3:07
"Oh, a happy landing."
Well done!
This is still among my favorite Star Wars fan edits. So subtle, smart changes - really good work.
You ever noticed how in the very beginning of this scene there is not a single ship under that republican cruiser but when anikan and obi one fly over it all the ships just appear
That always bothered me since it only takes a few seconds for Anakin and Obi Wan to fly over the length of that ship.
Not trying to be rude but that's a venanator class star destroyer
It wasn't meant to be taken literally; it's two different moments in time melded together.
The nostalgia I get from seeing this. My favorite scene and it was my favorite mission to play in Lego star wars as a kid
I remember see this in the cinema years ago, and I was like: WHOOOOO! Say what you want about the precuels, this scene is absolutely pure gold and the best intro of the Star Wars imo.
Droid control trips are so cool
thank you for removing the buzz droids, i wished it would have been like that in the original
