- In celebration of 10 years of SWTOR, we’re re-releasing all of our classic cinematic trailers enhanced in 4K. “Sacrifice” was initially launched on June 15th, 2015.
The year-long celebration of our 10th anniversary kicks off with Legacy of the Sith, a new expansion that marks the starting point to a full year of galactic intrigue, conflict, and mystery. Legacy of the Sith will send players to the darkest depths and farthest reaches of the galaxy and unlock the ability to choose your personal combat style, allowing for more options than ever before when it comes to living in your own Star Wars fantasy.

I felt more for the brothers in this 4 minute trailer, than I felt for Rey through 3 movies over multiple years!
I agree the sequels could’ve been amazing if they’re gone to the fans to create it and not done it themselves any one of the writers for the extended universe would’ve done great
If we pretend she/it doesn't exist and don't make her/it relevant in anything new from SW, she/it becomes irrelevant.

i think this was a reference to darth nihilus, who was the embodiment of the dark side of the force
I absolutely adore the concept of the Eternal Empire. Just the way they came out of nowhere and stomped both the Jedi and the Sith at the same time is so cool. Plus the armor design for the Knights of Zakuul is so refreshing when compared to thousands of years of 'just copy the Mandalorians'.

@@Ahzuv They literally come out of nowhere during the ongoing conflicts of the Old Republic and Sith Empire. The Eternal Empire were in the Unknown Region, a huge area of space that still haven't explored. This vast region of space were full of treacherous anomalies that can endanger the lives for those going blind in hyperspeed. Add up that there are no mapped hyperspace routes, roadmaps that helped in navigating through the galaxy.

The shock and sheer terror on Arcann's face when he snaps out of his dark side frenzy and realizes what he's done... I just can't. Parents pitting their chidren against one another is fucking heartbreaking.
Come on man... The trailer was pretty clear... As Vitiate said: "...you will have nothing.[...] Your entitlement, the pain you endure."
Arcann was simply sick of the way Vitiate scoffs at the losses they took. Flies into a frenzy to show him the weight of the losses, only to be thought this weight by Vitiate, without even raising an eyebrow. The weight of losing your brother, to your own hands.

@@username1660 These videos give us a glimpse of what could have been done if Disney had bothered to spend even 5 minutes going over the established material instead of deciding to throw it all away and trying to pull off a soft reboot. So yeah, I'm a little salty.
What truly breaks my heart is the way Thexan could have slammed Arcann into a wall but instead chose to pull him back to his side. You can see when Arcann lands that Thexan didn't draw his saber until Arcann spun and attacked him! Such a tragedy
Don't know why they don't turn this into a movie. The characters on this are better actors than most real life actors.
I agree it should be a movie but saying these digital character models with zero dialogue are actors is just silly. One of the biggest problems with the new movies is their dialogue and that isn't an actor's fault, it's the writers. The best actors on earth can only do so much with a shit script.

Simple. Too many white males. Now make them twin sisters fighting for their mother's approval and you might get somewhere with today's Hollywood.
Still gives me chills. Still the best 4 minutes of story telling in all of modern Star Wars. Every single detail just adds to the visual story telling. Poor poor Thexan. As his sister said, "What would have things been like had you lived?"

I am a twin (irl) with a father it seems too that could never be proud of his sons. what we did was never enough. it puts tears in my eyes everytime i watch this trailer. Extremely powerful and one of the most powerful crushing cinematics for SW.

2:16 I like how Thexan gives an uncomfortable look at his brother, he seems worried as he's sensing the darkness grow in him. After losing his arm and getting his face burned, Arcann became more ruthless and merciless. Thexan didn't like it.
Thexan seems to be strongest when defending his brother. I don't think he cared much for his dad but he did not expect Arcann to kill him while he was defending his dad.
As always, after striking down his brother, the sheer emotion Arcann projects with just one eye…
It glares yellow, but then fades away as he realizes what he did. then it cuts to Valk, whose eyes just stay that way

3:11 after some parries, he held his own Lightsaber up as if in hoping just to merely stop him but Arcann was blinded by rage so much, he struck him down.
The horror and lack of self control, he killed his twin reflection.

I've seen this trailer a lot of times, but i had never noticed that, in the moment that Arcann attacks Darth Vitiate and we see him turning his back on his son... he smiles.
It's almost imperceptible, but his mouth changes a bit as he is perfectly conscious that one of his sons has finally fell in complete darkness

Vitiate disappeared in the aftermath of the Ziost massacre, only to reappear as Valkorion, the leader of a hidden Eternal Empire in Wild Space. Unbeknownst to the rest of the galaxy, Vitiate had spent the last several centuries forging a new society on the planet Zakuul, and even had three children, Arcann, Thexan, and Vaylin.
its crazy how much potential is in the expanded universe. just imagine if they did a full length movie that's based on this or literally just this. absolutely amazing
If they did it and managed to pull it off successfully it would probably make millions if not more. Because it would show how much more terrifying the sith at their peak used to be. Palpatine pales in comparison to the likes of the Sith of old. Vitiate made him look like an amateur comparatively, he did run his empire effectively I’ve actually looked into that because I’m a nerd. He ran it fairly effectively all things considered.

Darin DePaul’s voice is like butter.
What an amazing voice actor, Valkorion was just such a great character.
His voice is easily the reason why Valkorion is one of my all time fav Star Wars character. His voice alone tempts me to side with him in the game.
Doug Bradley and Darin DePaul absolutely nailed the Sith Emporer in each incarnation he was in.

Always loved how Thexan is portrayed as the superior of the twins. He was better in the arena, built his lightsaber first and didn't get half his body blown up in war.
But he was also more compassionate and loyal, to Arcaan especially, and that was what got him killed when he put himself between his brother and Valkorion.
His brother probably tipped into the dark side in that moment which gave him an edge
@@crystallxix1493 And his brother, being good, never imagined that Arcaan would ever strike him down. He, himself wasn't trying to kill Arcaan, he was only trying to stop him from doing something he'd regret. Probably thought he could calm him down/talk some sense into him right until he took that lightsaber through the midsection.
One very cool touch is that, despite Thexan being the one with "Sith black", he's never dirty or has tears in his outfits while Arcaan is visibly dirty, full of dust and obviously his huge injury in battle.
Thexan, despite being the superior twin and the more "Sith-like", was the one with Jedi levels of being calm and collected.
@@AzureRoxe it's always hard to tell where SW stands on "is black the bad guys' color?" because Luke in RotJ shows up in all black when he's supposed to be peak good guy.

He end up being the peak good guy, but that wasn't that obvious during Empire Strikes Back.
This is an absolute masterpiece. Story telling perfection using barely any words
0:50 The little elbow he throws to his brother melts my heart
Orchestrated by Vitiate. He tore the brothers apart to see which one would come out on top. At least, that's what I believe.
Arcann was always eager to please his father and earn his approval, while Thexan cared far less about that. He was loyal, sure, but he wasn't craving any affection or praise from Vitiate. The bond he had with his brother was enough for him. Vitiate gave them a life of war, fighting and constant strife and the brothers coped with all of it, because they had each other. The only chink in their armor was Arcann's desperate need for Vitiate's approval. And so Vitiate purposely denied him that. He pushed them further and further until finally Arcann snapped and lashed out... at the wrong target. His rage was aimed at Vitiate, but redirected to Thexan and he struck him down in a fit of rage. And in so doing, he removed the only positive and stabilizing influence he had in his life. His own brother, who had always been there for him, in his darkest moments. Now he was gone at the hands of Arcann himself and all he has left is the darkness. WIthout Thexan, his last remaining blip of light is gone and Vitiate is free to play him like a puppet without interference from anyone or anything that can threaten that control.

@@astrobookwormsinger the most obvious one is how they purposely make the characters wear black and White and since black is associated with the dark side everyone ln their first view were thinking about how that guy would turn but in the end it was the other way around, the "light" guy turned and killed his brother, showing how the darkside can corrupt everyone, it's a pretty cool way to tell a story

People got so used to garbage from Disney they have forgotten what is good. Show was hurting so bad the suddenly started bringing in a SHIT TON of established characters to help it out and Disney still is actively blocking viewership tracking so no one knows how few are actually watching their content.
Only other streaming service that does that is Amazon while the established companies like HBO, WB. CBS all go out of their way to help groups like Nielsen make sure they can tell everyone how many are watching.

Easily the best Star Wars cinematic ever made. I still nearly form tears when the brothers eyes go from Sith back to normal when he realizes what it is he has done.
I love that you can see Valkorian smile at 3:04 and then you see his Sith eyes at 3:46. Brilliant little details like this make these trailers better than the sequel trilogy.

Oh how I’ve missed these trailers. The uploading of them again in 4K has been a true highlight of the past week. I hope they do a new one soon.
SWTOR trailers, and this one in particular, are true classics and I'm glad to see justice done to them with these remasters. With but a few minutes and scenes, they better encapsulate the spirit of Star Wars than most main line SW movies.

Recall how you felt watching this for the first time and then imagine it's a special prelude to an upcoming Star Wars film. No need for big names or the resurrection of characters to compensate for mediocre storytelling. Just imaginative visuals, an original, new faction, and emotionally gripping, poetic storytelling. Young fans would immediately know the difference between it and "You're his granddaughter."

sacrifice is such a sad story because you can tell arcann was trying to please his father the sith emperor and it got to a point that well his rage took control of him and he lost basically his brother which was technically accident at least in my opinion.
Which obviously mirrors Anakin's journey, even down to the fact that him losing himself to the Dark Side cost him someone dear.

I'm not the biggest fan of the whole Eternal Empire/Valkorion thing but these trailers are all incredibly cool and are infinitely better than anything Disney has put out in the last 8 years.

I never noticed Arcann's eyes before. He channels the dark side for a very short amount of time, and quickly drops it when he realizes what he did.
This has always been my favorite of these shorts.
One of the best mini films/trailers ever made. It tells so much in just 4 minutes and 13 seconds, and it makes you feel so many emotions. It's amazing.

I've watched these cinematics so many times...for 10 years I've played this game over and over...replaying classes...because it's Just. THAT. GOOD. No other game has made me lose track of time and not care that my work day starts with so little sleep. I am very much looking forward to the next expansion!

This should how star wars is written.. They stick with jedi vs sith story yet they dont focus on one characters like the skywalker.. Skywalker isnt the only jedi in star wars universe
Can we appreciate the artists and animators work in this? It's visually stunning, and the body language/facial expressions, are all spot on and tell the story without needing any context

My first “big moment” years ago in the game was the Revan reveal in the “Foundry” flashpoint. I love watching it still today.

Man, I love these cinematics. It's great to see these trailers are getting 4K releases as well. They are awesome and still sends chills down my spine whenever I see Arcann kills Thexan and realizes what he's done. So much emotion.

1. Blur Studio... Their last two cinematics were masterpieces of storytelling, visuals, and audio
2. Darin DePaul's amazing voice just oozes with an overwhelming power and complete cold indifference regarding his children here
3. The fact that you can see so much development without any dialogue aside from valkorion's voice over about his vow, just their body language, while thexan was content just having his brother, arcann wanted nothing more than to get so much as a hint of approval and attention from his father, valkorion's only hint of any feelings regarding his children being when arcann tries to kill him
Love watching Arcann's eyes go yellow with the Dark Side, then flash back to blue when he realizes what he's done

More emotion, tension, forshadowing in 4 minutes than Disney has every produced in Star Wars.

The KOTFE/KOTET story is one of the best pieces of Star Wars storytelling I have ever witnessed. I will admit I wasn't that big of a fan of the feel and look and all that in regards to the story, but that was back before the only piece of SWTOR I had consumed was videos on UA-cam of other people playing it and these cinematic trailers. Once I finally took a character through these expansions, I was completely blown away and dragged into the story. It was the first time while playing SWTOR where I felt the scale of the vents taking place and actually felt like I was fighting a galaxy-wide war.
Finally someone who likes the Knights expansions, so many people hate them. They're the masterpieces of SWTOR.
The only issue with the expansions here is that if you play as a non force user it doesn't really make sense. Except that, amazing story and characters.

It was a really good storyline. SWTOR still remains one of the best MMORPGs out there, and honestly, it has gotten better over time.
This is easily my favorite one. You don’t understand how bad I want to see this in canon. This one short cinematic is better than like half of all the Star Wars content
My most favorite one! The entire sequence from one brother getting mad and the other one dying goes for less than a minute, and the actual fight takes literally 4 seconds (counting from Force Pull), but I always almost cry at it, the emotion the both brothers show, the amount of disbelief, how this is all a horrible mistake, the whole buildup to their relationship before... Such a short trailer, but such an emotional story, very beautiful scenery and even some badass fighting scenes, all with almost no dialogue! What a masterpiece!
How Arcann screams when the surgery is performed, metal sounds when Arcann beats sith, how sith lady screams, 1:39-1:41 shot, ahhh...
One may ask tho why Arcann haven't got mad and tried to kill his father again ("I'VE KILLED MY BELOVED BROTHER BECAUSE OF YOU SHITHEAD"), but you can either attribute it to shock or "the story wouldn't worked then" heh.
Yesssss! I was hoping they'd do this one! Probably one of the best, tightest bits of SW storytelling I've ever seen.

God, this damn trailer was the one that ended up bringing me back all those years ago.
I remember the summer this first came out. This four minute trailer alone conveyed more story, symbolism and emotion than three movies made by Disney.

These two main characters have more in depth and intriguing background then Rey-Lo had in the entire 3 movies

Do you wanna know why this feels more satisfying than a full film? It's not that it's higher quality, it's shorter and more to the point. A lot of movies lose themselves by adding things to increase the runtime and make it more "compelling".
I felt that pain at the end. Those two brothers went through some shit. As someone who is also close with my own brother, it's heartbreaking to watch.
I still come back to this thinking about what was.... They should have given the Force Awakens trilogy to the old crew of Bioware..... This story here would have made a badass new trilogy, with 2 antagonists with actual screen presence. This Prince doesn't cry about his emotions during a lightsaber dual (cough Kylo cough). All I know of this Emperor and his Son are that they are Insanely Powerful, and they are avatars of the Dark Side. They both look HIGHLY intimidating.
This emperor (Valkorian) is arguably the most powerful Sith to ever live.
