Lol everyone saying his card shouldn’t be good like he’s a bum. His height and play style are very good for 2k though. They could’ve even made his defense better
Jameer Nelson's injury really hurt the Magic's chances in the Finals against the Lakers. I think he did come back for all or part of that series, but his game was rusty. He was having the best season of his career and the Magic were a well oiled machine prior to that injury.
And thus, the conspiracy of Jameer Nelson costed the 2009 title exist. But, you guys continue blaming on late kobe elbow Nelson in OT. But if it wasn't Howard missed freethrow and Van Gundy decisiob not to foul on Lakeds in less than 11 second. None of that would occurs, but what done is done, you can't turn it back.
@@mr.pointman1930 We should of stuck with Skip to my Lou as our PG starter for every game and bring Nelson off the bench. I think if that pass to Courtney Lee in the finals to win was a little more on target he would of finished it.
I think it goes to show how special Dwight Howard really was in his prime. SVG tried to replicate his “inside-out” blueprint in Detroit with Drummond; however, that clearly didn’t work out the way it did in Orlando.
Pretty funny how Stan van Gundy played according to today's analytics back then, but before he got fired last year he was known for refusing to give in to analytics and sticking to "old school"
Jovan Belegisanin yeah but the firing was more so his horrific job as GM, he made a bunch of terrible mistakes including a lot of bad draft picks. If he never had the GM responsibilities in the first place, I bet he'd still be head coach for deteiot
@@personperson5041 Otis Smith was a horrible GM. Rashard Lewis’s contract wasn’t the greatest, but trading it for Arenas horrible contract signed after an injury, after the gun shit, was insane. Taking on that Arenas contact was one of the dumbest things I saw the Orlando Magic do, and they’ve done some stupid shit.
I’m from Houston and this team really just recreated the 93-94 and 94-95 Rockets scenario where you surround a mvp caliber center with a bunch of lethal shooters and two way defenders and see where your chips fall I believe that’s why I loved this team so much i wish they would bring them back in 2k either the 09 or 11’ version cause as much as I loved the 6’ 10 and above front court that Gilbert Arenas and Jameer Nelson rotating at point guard cheese was unbelievable especially in the game back then not to mention J Rich was deadly driving or shooting and you still had a kind of prime Hedo man those were the days lol
The REAL reason the Magic made the Finals was Rafer Alston. When less effective Kyle Lowry prototype Jameer Nelson went down w/ an injury and missed almost all of that playoff run, it was Skip To My Lou who not only kept the team running, but made all of the aforementioned pieces BETTER with his court awareness and timely decision making. And, once the Finals stared and Nelson rushed back from injury, SVG benched Alston again and got fucking WASHED by Kobe for it. That series should have been competitive, and would have been if Alston had been allowed to continue his incredible post season as the PRIMARY PG. #And1
Van Gundy should never have brought Nelson back. Jameer Nelson was always a no talent ball hog. The one missing key with Howard's Magic team was a good point guard.
As a diehard Magic fan I must say you made a great video. That team was very good, and they should’ve kept their core intact after 09 Finals. Anyway that Dwight Stan interview was so horrible to watch though. Many people forget that this was the original team to jumpstart 3-point offense that we see expanded and developed today. Had they played with this team in the modern era of bball then who knows what would happen. Great video!
mostly by letting hedo go...alston was replaceable since nelson the all star came back healthy who missed the east playoffs and they got jason williams to be a backup...lee wasn't that crucial and the bass anderson barnes signings replaced lees loss but hedo was irreplaceable even with vince carter
Longtime Orlando fan and was living there during this run. Great job breaking it all down. Sucks that it all fell apart but man, that was a fun year or two.
I’m a Magic fan and when Courtney Lee missed that open layup to win game 2 was hard to take, we could’ve equalized the series at 1-1 but we fell to 2-0 in overtime
This was my favorite team during these years and the reason they didn’t play better in that 09 finals is Jameer Nelson was injured the ENTIRE playoff run that year and then got thrown back in the starting line up game 1 of the Finals and was cold as ice. That also shot Rafer Alston (the previous starter at PG who lead them to the finals) confidence into the gutter which then lead to a weaker Magic team looking for their identity at a time they needed to be strong as ever to withstand Kobe Bryant with home court advantage picking you apart
This team was special. D12,lewis,turkoglu,alston,gortat,pietrus,reddick,courtney lee and van gundy. If jameer did not play in the finals, i think they could push lakers to 6-7 games.
The Warriors don't even shoot that many threes compared to some other teams. They have the best three point shooters but they don't shoot the most threes. They still shoot a ton of midranges and go to the rim. Then you have teams like the Rockets who only shoot threes or layups. Their style is so annoying. There is no nuance to their game.
@@alexandreschmitt7006 the Rockets had elite defense and playmaking as well. Let's not act like they didn't push the Warriors to game 7 and only lose by single digits when CP3 was out the last 2 games. CP3 and Harden are still great mid-range shooters as well.
no mention of Courtney Lee?? or how well Rafer Alston kept the team running without Jameer in the playoffs? Lee was actually an amazing player for them in his rookie year. he played really impressive defense and made 3s and moved the ball as the starting SG. he could occasionally slash to the rim and had one of the best mid range jumpers if the need ever arised. Trading Turkoglu was really bad, he ran point forward for them a lot and was their 2nd best offensive player over Lewis and Nelson at times. if they could have traded for Ryan Anderson without losing Turkoglu i think they could have gone back to the finals

If they stuck together for one more season but added one more star shooter, such as McGrady staying. I think they might have won a ring. Dwight at Orlando was amazing.
This is a very good topic. That Heat team were beaten by the Chicago Bulls led by Luol Deng, Kirk Heinrich and Ben Gordon. Kobe seen Luol Deng as a very reliable teammate back then that's why he wanted to be traded.
Joshua Ohale I'm a Cavs fan and was sad about the loss in game one of the Eastern Conference Finals. However, it would've been nice to see Orlando win the NBA Finals, too.
Im glad you mentioned KG. If not for KG's injury, theres no reason to speak of this team. Boston would have swept Orlando and then best LA again, in the finals.
Thumbnail should be jameer Dwight and rashard. Hedo was their for one year and JJ was off the bench. Those were our 3 guys that were consistent. Vince as well the 3rd year
That Orlando team was tough, if thye kept them together they would have had a chance to get back to the finals in 2010, and with moves 2011 and 2012. Pietrus was a good defender, they had shooters everywhere.
If I have to speak of the Magic? Yes it worked for a couple of seasons but what really killed them was not adding a consistent player next to Howard. They could’ve traded a few of the role players to bring in a rookie or so to continue to built on what they had, but they stood 1 dimension and die out as the nba moved on from their style of play 🤷🏻♂️
The proof that Cleveland is cursed. Their best opportunity to make it to the Finals the first LeBron tenure. Then this team and Howard dominate the conference finals. Then this Magic team proceeds to do absolutely nothing after and all the players retire or become bums.
Cleveland was the favorite going into the series and had the best record in the league. They were elite but they faced the Magic who caused them the most matchup problems. It was literally the worst matchup possible for Cleveland. They were an elite defensive team but not a lot of teams shot threes back then and Cleveland couldn't guard the three point line. It caused matchup problems all over the floor for Cleveland bigs who weren't mobile and versatile enough.
Alexandre Schmitt We swept the first two series. We looked unstoppable until we got to the Magic. The shooting was great, but even worse you'd get Howard hitting post shots with Z or Varejao right in his face. This led to the signing of Shaq to defend Dwight the next season, and everything went to hell anyways.
Eduardo Quintero Well the main priority was him defending Dwight. But the problem was we saw the Celtics in the playoffs, not the Magic; and Shaq didn't have much left in the tank.
cavs made the 07 finals lol..also lewis won a ring and Dwight didnt do nothing...nelson too..both were all stars in 2010....jj and gortat became pretty useful starting playoff team players I would say
If TMac would have stuck it out and stayed plus not had those injuries, that magic team would have won a championship, as Tracy would have matched if not surpassed Kobe offensively and defensively in that 2009 finals series.
Real Slim Bobby kg pierce and allen might have been a porblem but i def feel like t mac and dwight could beat them i dont think kg could handle dwight like that and i dont think anybody on the celtics could gaurd t mac but for the magic i feel like t mac could make it difficult for pierce and dwight would make it difficult for anybody even kg to score in the post bron bosh and wade would've been big problems too but idk if chris bosh could gaurd dwight he was really stronge and athletic bron and wade might've been able to stop t mac but you still got dwight down low and if t mac gets it going it wont be a pretty night and with bron and wade not shooting much it'd be tuff for them to score but since bosh is a shooter it would take dwight away from the paint and they might have a problem but i feel like t mac might be able to bother bron a bit he was a pretty good defender
they paid lewis like a superstar hedo was an all star caliber player in the 09 playoffs nelson was an all star they also got vince carter who was still pretty good so dont say that..they had stars just not enough talent

I always look forward to your videos bro. Easily my favorite youtuber
.
*"Hero" Turkoglu* left 🙄💔
9:35 i thought it was dray green
I loved that team on 2k
If they stuck together for one more season but added one more star shooter, such as McGrady staying. I think they might have won a ring. Dwight at Orlando was amazing.
Been here since 30k love your content
You should talk about the 2006-07 Heat team failing to repeat as NBA champions.
Doknot1999 that’s easy, all the veterans on the team got older and Shaq and wade were injured throughout the season
Doknot1999 you don’t need a hyphen in repeat
This is a very good topic. That Heat team were beaten by the Chicago Bulls led by Luol Deng, Kirk Heinrich and Ben Gordon. Kobe seen Luol Deng as a very reliable teammate back then that's why he wanted to be traded.
@@maleeksambrano7302 Sorry, it was an accident, and it is what it is.
@@marvinprevalus6575 I know, I would just like to hear him talk about it for a video.
I liked this team. I wish they won a championship.
Joshua Ohale I'm a Cavs fan and was sad about the loss in game one of the Eastern Conference Finals. However, it would've been nice to see Orlando win the NBA Finals, too.
You should do a video like this but about the early 2000’s Pacers with Jermaine O’Neal and Ron Artest
The 2009 Magic and 2009 or 2010 Lakers need to be in the classic teams for NBA 2k20 !
12:35 they called that out of bounds, right?
No, they didn't.
If Dwight didn’t get injured and a great post game, this man would of had a better legacy 💯💯
Dwight was sawft.
09:30 Draymond played for the Magic... never knew that lol
Brandon Bass bro
Hope that orlando magic can rebuild again..and win championship..
Im glad you mentioned KG. If not for KG's injury, theres no reason to speak of this team. Boston would have swept Orlando and then best LA again, in the finals.
Love these videos keep it up!
What the name of the background music that’s stats at 2:08
Thumbnail should be jameer Dwight and rashard. Hedo was their for one year and JJ was off the bench. Those were our 3 guys that were consistent. Vince as well the 3rd year
Lowkey what the Jazz did w/Stockton-Malone.
2:00 right after the SeatGeek shout-out
Finaly the olando magic look forward to watching this
Dwight deserves a ring....still have my fingers crossed for him. 08/09 Magic fans where yall at???
Ever since he got his back blown out he aint been playing the same
That Orlando team was tough, if thye kept them together they would have had a chance to get back to the finals in 2010, and with moves 2011 and 2012. Pietrus was a good defender, they had shooters everywhere.
he got his cheeks spread
Yall fools dont remember Rashard Lewis's contract
Hell yeah 120 million
@@brianturner496 He didn't even play the last three years or so and the contract was so back loaded, it was like a baseball contract.
he got paid got a ring in miami and retired ...hes pretty chill..no one else on that 2009 magic team besides ty lue won shit so...@@abidaljones8774
Can you do a video on the Paul George Pacers
I hope they add this team in 2k.
Right
It’s crazy how just 7 years ago drose dwade, lebron, Dwight, melon dirk, dwill all ran the league now they pretty much washed up
MJ Worry Lebron is the best player in the league rn, try again
Well he’s about to be. Let’s see how he plays once he comes back
Omar Rockstar no he not
In 3 years Zion will run this league
@@omaryussuf9363 yeah everyone except lebron congrats on ur comment
What’s the song at 7:20?
Used to be my favorite team and favorite player 😪
If I have to speak of the Magic? Yes it worked for a couple of seasons but what really killed them was not adding a consistent player next to Howard. They could’ve traded a few of the role players to bring in a rookie or so to continue to built on what they had, but they stood 1 dimension and die out as the nba moved on from their style of play 🤷🏻♂️
What happened to the Larry Johnson Hornets? Or joe Johnson's Atlanta Hawks
You should do an underrated Chris Webber video
Horford is a very underrated superstar
No mention of my guy jj Reddick?
Remember they didn't just trade Hedo, they also cut bait with Courtney Lee
Kobe happened and shattered their confidence
We bout to see this on Friday when cousins comes back
This team on 2k🔥 I won so much money during that year
Please make a video on how Dr.J is underappreciated and should be in the top 10 all time
Great video
Can't believe this was a decade ago!
@@Bradland013 Exactly. Shaq coming to Cleveland did not have much of an impact.. I guess he didn't have much left...
Good vid LoW
Man imagine this team with another superstar
Great vid
7:07 YEAHHHHH AIGHT
GREAT VIDEO
Nice video!!! Who the hell is paying 200 hundred to see the Hawks and Wizards!?!? 😂😂😂
Yo Low u feel like orlando is goin 2 do it again with Mo Bamba
And now they're in the playoffs
Man, this Orlando team was a very well built team to complement Dwight's game and he looked dominant. If only he stayed with the Magic, might have had a better career than what happened when he left.
I really wished the '09 Orlando Magic was on 2k21, as well as the '09 Los Angeles Lakers
Go Magic!
